Chapter 92-107

The king of Nerghen has been acting strange. He’s been going around embracing everyone he meets―everyone except Abigail that is! Sabrian’s strange behavior has put Abigail on edge, and to make things more complicated, her brother, Prince Kane of Kronenberg is in town! But what at first seems like a touching reunion between siblings takes a turn for the worse when Abigail uncovers memories buried deep within her past, causing her to confront some very deep-rooted and unresolved trauma…

Warning: familial violence, male on female.

Loved it, though Bibi’s brother is SUCH a JERK! I’m glad she hit him and LOL her husband giving her his belt to beat her brother with. Considering he pulled her hair and was choking her, if she had used the belt it would have been justified imho.

And ERMAIGERD, it’s SO SWEET how Sable is making his moves little by little on Bibi. That almost kiss…GAH my heart!!

I want their HEA SO BAD.

5, I’m foaming at the mouth for the next volume, stars!

I hate her bother but what I love is that she started to fight back, and when Sable gave her his belt to beat her brother with ☺️ it was so sweet. Also i think it’s funny how he got mad at the dolphins for interfering with that almost kiss.
I feel bad for the old Abigail because of how she lived.

The 7th volume and more misunderstandings but also some progress. And Bibi and her weight struck me hard, I am also struggling with body image and such. I don't like that little mermaid and I hope she fucks off soon. I want Sabrian and Bibi to get closer and kiss (though we almost had a kiss, but dang those dolphins, haha). Oh, and Blanche is so cute!

Can't say I was really interested in this one. One I pre-ordered a while back. Abigail and the king slowly getting closer, not much of the mirror and mother daughter bonding. This one was a shitty brother and fat shaming, along with moving into Little mermaid territory.

It's too cute! I really love this series! Sabrian and Abigail are so awkward and adorable, and I really like Blanche and Vérité getting along. Starting to pull in more fairytales is an interesting take, too. I'm curious as to where it goes next!

FINALLY!!!!! Progress!!!

FINALLY!!! We have made progress in this slow burn, i am mad at myself that i read this so quickly because I NEED MORE!!!! Also love the fairytale inclusion since they talked about nonhuman species. It’s quite fantastic how the author and artist bring this to life with their own spin on it. Can’t wait for the next book.

I had more mixed feelings about this volume than some of the previous ones.

The continuing focus on Abigail's body image is starting to rub me the wrong way. I know people really do think this way about themselves, and everyone has some kind of self-image issue, but as someone who has been a "big girl" since puberty, spending so much time with Abigail tearing herself down was getting to me. At some point I just wanted to shake her and say, have a little confidence and enjoy your life!

That made it especially satisfying when she finally threw that load of smelly poo right back where it belonged and stood up for herself. THAT was the Abigail I wanted to see.

The part that has me most excited is the introduction of another fairy tale into the story: The Little Mermaid! One of my favorite things about this series is watching it play with familiar fairy tales rather than sticking only to Snow White. Now I can't wait to see exactly how Bibi manages to mess this one up too.

This wasn't one of my favorite volumes, but I'm still invested in these characters and very curious about where this increasingly tangled fairy-tale world is going.

Abigail has discovered more memories of her past in this new life, leading to further similarities along the emotional rollercoaster she was already struggling with as her brother tries to bring her to heel once again. Fortunately, Sabrian seems to have decided Abigail is the only woman he can stand touching, but he doesn't understand his other unusual reaction to her. They're both still surprisingly clueless despite how close they seem to have grown. This could either go very well or very badly with this new addition of a mermaid in hiding along for the ride. Abigail already seems to have some unusual ideas and has surprised Nadia directly while Sabian is struggling with her presence and wanting to figure out who she is. Hopefully Sabian's reassurance can at least help heal some of Abigail's wounds, so long as she doesn't sabotage herself along the way with these new mistress rumors.

Lots of fun

This volume is jam packed with fun character development. Abigail explores her relationship with food, which grew out of her family’s unhealthy beauty standards, thus leading to a confrontation with her brother.
Sabrian pulls one of the best hero moves I’ve ever seen, supporting Abigail in her fight against her personal demons rather than offering to fight her battles for her. Go Sable! We’ll make a romantic lead out of you yet.
And the family goes on an eventful [working] vacation.

It’s a shame that even in a fantasy world Abigail has to worry about her weight and be made to feel less than even by her own brother. The only good part of that situation was that Sabrian witnessed it and put a stop to it and sided with Bibi. A tragedy occurs pushing Sable and Bibi closer where they almost…ugh!!! When are they going to finally see that they love each other and are meant to be together??? Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed Not-Sew-Wicked Stepmom Volume 7 even though it brought out all the feels.

Abigail and Sabrian with Blanche travel to the east to see the ocean and visit the eastern territories.

Abigail seems to have improved her curse making and breaking abilities and Blanche reveals that that she has started communicating with animals.

Abigail and Sabrian take a ship and end up overboard on a deserted island.

We also get introduced to Nadia,a red haired mermaid pretending to be a human, under the influence of a a curse that forbids her from using her voice.

I just love this series and their characters <3
Important subject too about expectations of women and their weight in this volume. Loved it <3

What really bugs me though is the consistent corset & clothes myths in it. No, ankles were not considered sexy in the 18th century and no, corsets are not torture devices.

5/5 stars. Finally got interesting only to be left on a cliffhanger….

I’ve read further than this on Tapas so I was surprised to see it end where it did because the next volume is not available yet.

I love that this story is slowly involving other fairy tales and I can't wait to see how the Little Mermaid storyline will progress.

Every once in a while the story does take a dark turn. Sabian saying "Beat him with this" swoon.
Overall, it's so adorable.

Oooooo more family drama, but from Abigail's side this time! Hopefully she'll get to work on her own trauma a bit too!

Progress on the slow burn romance, some attempts to deal with Abigail's self esteem, and, surprisingly, the little mermaid makes an apperance.

I love how this world has more than one fairytale that been spun differently in it. I'm curious to see if there's more than Snow White, and The Little Mermaid. Also I loved Abigail's internal struggle with thoughts about weight and self image, and trying not to give those insecurities to Blanche.

The body image issues are back but Abigail isn’t so sure of herself this time. The struggle to maintain a positive sense of self-worth will definitely hit home with readers. Some days, it's harder than others remain confident and not give in to the negative comments. This volume reminds us that even those who seem assured may be struggling, and we should be positive to everyone. Abigail also turns fashion of this world upside down yet again and does something scandalous, which is always great. We're also into the miscommunication trope of shōjo manga, so be prepared, readers!
