Transported to a fantasy world. Gifted the magic of summoning. A hero born to be a conqueror.
Jake Anders never expected the latest VR game to transport him to a real-life fantasy world. It's the first thing he must come to terms with in this is no game.
The stakes are real. Death is real. The women are real.
And so is the magic.
Jake is a Monster Master, a powerful mage capable of taming and commanding monsters in battle.
Jake must use his newfound magic and Earth-smarts to bring peace and prosperity to the land - and he's not afraid to take down a tyrant or two in the process, bond with an elf or three, and tame a horde of monsters.
I don’t know who keeps publishing Dante King, and I really don’t know who keeps reading his writing.
My bet is he’s an AI pseudonym. If he’s not… well, maybe he should consider becoming one. Because no matter how much he publishes, it’s still schlock.
The MC drops out of another world, with professional fighting skills, (barely explained by his job as a game tester for immersive content) who throws out the shittiest one liners you can while flirting in what I’m sure every neckbeard incel thinks is a smooth manner.
While I’m sure your average MtG fan thinks that a football chad rizzes like that, it comes off as annoying, creepy, and cringey.
Then… the elf gets mad that the mc goes to loot a body? In a war?
The world building sucks, the character development is… non. This is going to shape up to be a waste of time.
I’ll start with I DNF the book. I made it like 20% and it was just too stupid. There is no explanation of the MC, just suddenly there and powerful, he immediately captures an op dragon and can use magic like it’s nothing. Also we learn the MC is apparently a game tester, yet also HIGHLY trained in real life combat…. One of these things is not like the other….
The entire premise behind the MC is basically he is a full combat min/maxed dnd character with the social skills to match. He has absolutely no character other than smug douche. Literally his name and title should just be Dudebro Chad McChaddington, that would explain him entirely.
This book was a fun read. Yes, it's harem, so there is a lot of spice. The spice doesn't take from the story at all. If you are looking for a fun way to spend an evening, this is it.
This one was bad. It started bad. It got worse. It didnt warn me that it was LIT RPG, which is a genre I'm finding to be full of terrible writing. I needed a break from what I was reading and hoped for a shorter, fast paced story and instead ended up with this pile of crap. For starters, there is virtually no set up to the story, it just jumps right in with no background information on the main character. There is no motivation or anything else that might make you invest in the MC, and the MC seems to accept being pulled into an alternate world immediately. He seems to know immediately what is going on and what to do. It was so incredibly, mind blowingly stupid that even if the rest of the book had been good, I would never have been able to get past it. The rest was not good, and I eventually gave up about 30% into it, when the MC was being propositioned by three random elven concubines *rolls eyes*.
I had a lot of fun with this. Quick and simple read, not a lot of baggage attached to all the characters. Our lad has a magic stick (dope), a pet dragon (hella dope), and a hot elf companion that wants him to meet the elf queen (say less fam). Quick and simple and not as convoluted or up it's ass as these things can tend to get.
In medias impressions:
A little later: "Ooh these dead guys have money! And weapons!" Elf girl: "you would desecrate a corpse??" "they aren't using it soo....."
4% like how there's absolutely no fucking about with past lives or regret or any of that shit. This guy is like "magic stick? dope. pet dragon? hella dope. Quest to meet the elves?? Say less fam."
Probably just not my thing. I get the idea of the story, but how it got there just didn't make sense. The story makes you want to think he got dropped in an actual world resembling a video game that he is somehow instantly a master of, but he still has a character screen and picks spells based on level? I'm probably not going to read it, but the only thing that makes sense of a possible series ending is if he just THOUGHT it was real because it's a really good VR. but that would be SHIT after making you get attached to all the characters.

Specters made interesting advesaries until the MC came up upon rival mages and the necromancer that controlls them. It was interesting how he captured monsters. I did feel that dispite his VR backgrounds experience, overcoming the armies of specter, mages, knights etc with his small team was a bit much.
This was a fun read all the way through. A D&D World has an Earthling arrive, but he's a Bata Tester and gets how to fight and Summon. Just a great combo! Add in some sexy women with skills of their own and have a major end fight & Throw in plenty of smaller fights, tada, fun read throughout!
I liked this book upto 60% mark and then it went down for me. The scenes become repetitive and not important. It felt like the author added more scenes just to make the book longer. I seriously considered DNFing the book around 80% but pushed through the end. I will try the sequel but not anytime soon.
It felt very rushed, especially in the beginning. Jake on the first page is sent to this new world. I know nothing about his background or who he was before. I’ve read books like this before. I hope for more in depth detail in the next one.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fun and engaging. The story and characters were incredibly interesting and entertaining. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book is definitely worth checking out.
DNF - I really should learn my lesson on Dante King books. They never seem to work out well for my preferences. I just keep getting suckered in by great covers though.
