Two Blue Lines

His fear . . . Her secrets . . . Their choice.

What if the only girl you’ve ever loved lied to you?
Lied to everyone?
Those two blue lines changed everything for Reed Young and Melissa Summers. In more ways than one.
And now, he must decide for himself . . .
Man up or walk away?

SC Montgomery has created an emotional tale of first love, difficult choices, and impossible secrets. A deliciously angsty debut you need to read for yourself.

***Reader Warning*** Two Blue Lines is the emotional, honest story of two teenagers whose lives are about to change forever. While not glorified, or portrayed in detail, there are themes of sexual assault and teen pregnancy, as well as allusions to teenage drinking and some foul language. It is all meant to create an honest, relevant novel, but please be aware and read only if you’re comfortable.

***Note, while this novel is a standalone that deals with mature subject matter, it may be helpful to read Lines in the Sand first to understand what makes Reed Young tick and hear about the summer that changed his life forever. Well, before this one.

Three years after Lines in the Sand, we get to fall into Reed’s story once again on a fateful day he constantly refers to as The Great Disappointment. That is when he and his girlfriend of three years, Melissa Summers, find out that at the young age of sixteen, they are now pregnant.

From the beginning of Two Blue Lines, Reed has no choice in how they will deal with the pregnancy because Melissa insists on keeping the baby. Her feelings are deep seeded due to the fact that she never knew her real birth mother and being adopted left her scarred in ways she finds difficult to resolve. As these two young teenagers face the consequence of their circumstance, you immediate see the impact it will have on their lives.

This story was truly well written. I’ve read a few teen pregnancy books in the past, but I have to give SC Montgomery a huge applause for handling this subject matter so expertly! Her character development and plot twists were well developed. The story never slowed down for Reed and Melissa and I was completely captivated by them the entire time.

I have to say how much I really came to adore Reed. Despite seeing his dreams of being an engineer slip through his fingers, he handled himself very well. I appreciated the sacrifices he made almost immediately and his unwavering love and loyalty to Melissa.

Where in no way does this book glorify teen pregnancy, it definitely paints a realistic picture of the costs and sacrifices involved. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end and would love to have read an epilogue of maybe a year later. Well done!

Two Blue Lines is a wonderful coming age story that follows the lives of Reed and Melissa. They are young and in love. They last thing either one of them plans or expects is to become parents at the age of only sixteen. Suddenly, their whole world has been turned upside down and have no idea what their future will hold. Not only are they dealing with the unexpected pregnancy, but they are also having to deal with the disappointment from both of their parents and questions about their future. Now, they are both forced to grow up way too fast. And on top of everything that is going on, you find out that Melissa is hiding a very big secret. This secret is not what you are expecting at all and is completely shocked me.

One of the things I really liked was how mature Reed was and the way he supported Melissa through it all. Yes, they had their ups and downs. But it was handled in such a realistic way. Their journey wasn't always sunshine and roses. And maybe that's what I loved the most, that it was believable. It showed just how stressful the idea and reality of being a young parent is and all the struggles along the way.

Overall, I found this story to be very enjoyable. I felt that it was well written and the characters were easy for me to connect with. Two Blue Lines does deal with some very difficult issues and I really appreciate the way that the SC Montgomery handled them. This book has a great message of Love(not just romantic love, but family love), Forgiveness, Making Mistakes and Learning to deal with them......

I am crying...STILL! 10 minutes later. I don't know why it hit me so hard, as I've read a LOT of dark and twisty stuff...but it quite literally HURT to read some of this book. I'm working on a long review for the blog now...

UPDATE - From the blog

Alright y'all...I have been on a crazy, emotional rollercoaster. And I'm gonna give it to you straight.

I am crying...STILL! 10 minutes later. I don't know why it hit me so hard, as I've read a LOT of dark and twisty stuff, and it wasn't even THAT dark and twisty...but it quite literally HURT to read some of this book.

I'd already read the prequel to this novel, Lines in the Sand, before I read this. After reading it, I was intrigued, wondering how that story would tie into this one. It wasn't what I expected, but it definitely was necessary to read prior to this, in my opinion.

When I got, oh, I don't know, about 12 or 15% into the story, I stopped reading it. Stopped. As in it sat there for DAYS without me picking it back up. It wasn't bad writing. It wasn't a bad story. ... ... ... I just LITERALLY did not want to know what really happened, and how it was going to affect everyone involved. I knew it was basically one of two things that had happened to Melissa, and I wished that NEITHER of those things would have happened to her, so I just stopped.

But, I just couldn't leave it alone! I didn't want to know what happened to Melissa BEFORE, but I HAD to know what happened with Melissa and Reed, and the precious cargo Melissa was carrying.

I'm not gonna lie...both Melissa AND Reed make some really stupid mistakes along the way. They're 16 year olds. But it's obvious that they love each other, and if they can just get their crud together, they can make it through anything. I was REALLY surprised by some of the secondary characters. Mostly I just wanted to beat everyone up, (like a certain preggo moment Melissa has) and hate them, because they weren't being very nice. But then we start to scratch past the surface of those characters, and there are some HUGE lessons to be learned from those characters.

In the end, there were some hard moments, some fun, loving moments, and some absolutely beautiful moments. I just...AAH! I'm starting to tear up just thinking about it!

Anyway, if you can handle the emotional rollercoaster that is teenage pregnancy, and everything else that comes along with it, this book is MORE than worth your time!

This is my first read from SC Montgomery and I can promise you it won't be my last!!! I was drawn into this book from the very first chapter. I did not want to put it down!! The way that SC Montgomery shares the life of these two youngsters going through a hard time will make you feel like it is real life! I love that the book is about a situation that we see all too much in today's world and that these two characters actually made good decisions. The whole moral to the story in the end warms my heart and keeps you longing for more! I will definitely be on the look out for more books from this great author. Thanks for the great read SC Montgomery and keep it up!

Reed and Mel have been inseparable since they were 13. After 3 years together they are more in love than ever. Then everything changes. Mel is pregnant. With the pregnancy comes all kinds of hardships for them. And Mel is hiding a secret. Is the baby really Reed's? Can she hide her shame and keep him from finding out? This story is very emotionally charged and keeps you encapsulated from beginning to end. The trials these two face as teen parents-to-be is very real, not to mention Mel's secret. That is a whole other issue and SC Montgomery handled it very well. Loved this story of growth between Reed and Mel and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Two Blue Lines
by SC Montgomery

Reed Young and Melissa Summers have had some life changing news. Are they ready for what is coming, or will it tear them apart? And what is the secret that Melissa is keeping from Reed, and will it matter to him once he finds out what she is hiding?

Yes, this had a lot of teen angst, but it cleverly discussed some of the things that teenagers have to live through in this day and age. It was easy to believe everything the author was putting her characters through. The surprise ending was the best.

I hope to read more YA from this author.

The second book in the young adult series. Melissa 16 and pregnant with Reed as the father or so she thinks. Reed also 16 is shocked by the news. They are both too young to be parents. They have their whole lives ahead of them. This story shows what happens when young kids end up having a baby before they are ready for it. Another amazing story for the young and old. I loved every minute of it. A hard book to put down because I had to see what would happen next. Looking forward to the next book.

This was my first YA novel. It was truly a great book. Reed and Melissa have that fairy tale love at first sight relationship beginning at age 13. Everything is perfect until Melissa gets pregnant at 16. This book is a very well written story. Melissa is hiding something really big and the way it's revealed is quite shocking. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

4-1/2 Stars. Two Blue Lines picks up four years after Lines in the Sand. Reed is with Melissa, the only girl he’s ever loved, and the girl he was crushing on in Lines in the Sand. Melissa is pregnant and everything in Reed’s life is about to change. Adopted herself and never feeling like she’s a full member of her family, giving the baby up is not an option. But Reed isn’t prepared to be a father. He’s too young and has big plans for his future. He refuses to allow one mistake in the back seat of his car to ruin everything. But he loves Melissa and will do anything for her. At least Melissa hopes so. Especially when she tells him her darkest secret.

I love that S.C. Montgomery never let her characters off the hook, absolved them from the consequences of their actions. They struggle in realistic fashion with the changes in their lives, fighting, loving, living, terrified and joyously from moment to moment.
The relationship between Reed and Melissa is angsty and authentic. Their love is intense, as it is with most teenagers, but the enduring quality of it sets them apart and drives the story.

Plot
The story moves at a solid pace, taking many twists and turns, breaking my heart and putting it back together again. The main plot and various subplots are woven together and kept me guessing. Just when I was sure I had it figured out, S.C. Montgomery threw me completely and left me with my mouth hanging open along with the characters in her story.

World Building
In a contemporary romance, it’s less about world building than establishing the setting, and that’s precisely what the author does. I can envision that south Texas beach perfectly, feel the salty breezes, the heaviness of the air from the humidity. But it’s also about creating the events leading up to the story that make the events believable. What might be acceptable in a large city would be completely inappropriate in a small town in the south. The time and place chosen as the backdrop for Reed and Melissa’s heart wrenching story is perfect.

Characters
The story unfolds from Reed’s point of view and he comes across completely authentic. Never did I question that the writer was anything other than a teenaged boy. His fears, doubts, even his tendency toward self-centeredness were completely believable.

We get glimpses of Melissa through her diary and I will probably get grief for this, but I didn’t much care for Melissa. I understood her motivations and she acted according to character, I just didn’t like her character. She came across as snively, controlling, insecure, and deceitful. Yes, I know she had her reasons, but I just didn’t like her. But Reed does and that’s all that really matters because it’s really his story. And even though I didn’t like Melissa, she was just as rich and developed a character as Reed.

The supporting cast, from Reed’s best friend Jonah, to both sets of parents and siblings round out the story nicely giving it depth.

Bottom Line
I loved this book. Two Blue Lines is a wonderful coming of age story that takes a genuine look at teen pregnancy and the struggles, tough emotions, and forgiveness that comes with it.

"I contemplated the reality of my situation. Ideal? No. Perfect? Definitel not."

Reed had been in love with Melissa since he was thirteen. He never dreamed that she would have the same feelings towards him. Now three years later they are a couple, but their perfect love is about to hit a huge hurdle.

"I'm pregnant." To some those are some of the most precious words. But for a pair of sixteen year olds, it's a nightmare. How can they do this? How do they tell their families? Should they give the baby away?

This book goes through every single emotion between the Reed and Melissa. I love that it is in Reed's POV, but ends every chapter with a journal entry from Melissa. Not only does Reed have a hard time handling his soon-to-be fatherhood, but you find out that Melissa has a secret that could destroy everything. She breaks my heart! How could she harbor a secret like that? Goodness.

"I just knew that Mel was my compass. Had been for the past three years. She came into my life at my most emotional and had been my touchstone ever since. I'm not sure I'd know how to be without her."

I love how the author not only told the story of these two, but also the story of friendship and family. Reed and Jonah's friendship took a bad turn, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I could not stop the tears from flowing. Secrets are revealed and lines are drawn. Can these three friends move forward? Can they get past ll the heartache?

"I'm nobody's first choice. Except Reed's."

I want to tell S.C. Montgomery thank you! Thank you for this amazing story of young love, and how it's not always perfect. Life does not always go the way you have it planned out in your mind. You can't change the past, but you can still decide your future. Great read!!! I can't wait for Jonah's story!

"Who wants to be a father at sixteen? No one. Including me. But I am one. And I'm determined to embrace every rocky step along the journey."

Loved Two Blue Lines!

Two Blue Lines is the story of Reed and Melissa. They're both sixteen years old and in high school. They've been dating for three years and love each other a lot. One day, something happens that changes their lives forever: Melissa is pregnant. Reed tries to do everything he can to support Melissa during the pregnancy and to be able to support his child. But Melissa is hiding something. Will that change things even more?

The characters in this story felt very real. Melissa and Reed have to deal with the fall out of Melissa's pregnancy and the reaction of their parents, family and friends.
Loved Melissa and Reed's relationship. They are so sweet together, even though Melissa feels so guilty because she is hiding something major from Reed and their families.
Reed is a great guy. He loves Melissa and when she tells him she's pregnant he decides to get a job so he can support the baby. He is very supportive of Melissa but feels that something is off with her. He also as to deal with his father reaction to the news that he's going to be a grandfather.
Melissa is a very strong teenager. She goes through a lot during the pregnancy. She feels guilty and ashamed of something that happened to her and she didn't tell anyone what happened.

Loved that we had both Melissa and Reed's POV, especially how Melissa's POV was written: journal entries.
This is a very sweet story, but with lots of angst. When the clues to what Melissa's secret was started to appear, I couldn't await to finish the book and read Reed's reaction.
This is also an emotional story that addresses very sensitive issues.

My favorite part of the book was when Reed told his father that he knew he was disappoint and his father told him about his own past.

This is a great book and I can't wait to read more books written by S.C. Montgomery!

Two Blue Lines was sent to me as ARC from the author for my honest opinion which I'm glad to give. This is a book and story for young adults and I'm a long way past being a young adult but I did enjoy reading about Reed Young and Melissa Summer the 16 year old's that became an item at 13 but now they are becoming parents.
When Melissa finds herself pregnant she also finds herself with a secret that can destroy her life and her relationship with Reed.
When the young couple have to face their parents with the news they can see the disappointment in their faces but they know they can always find support with their best friends, Roxanne and Jonah. Reed and Jonah have been best buddies since they were younger and shared the good and bad times like with Jonah's cruel older brother Noah and his dysfunctional family and with Reed's finding out about his Mom's sad upbringing and a love for a dog they never knew, Lettie.
Can Reed and Melissa handle being the butt of the kids at school jokes and what about Reed's hook up's with other girls?
As the story moves forward we find more secrets that are hidden, and friendships put to test and finding out who these two can really trust.
I found myself at times wanting to shake Reed and Melissa, Reed mainly but I understand how 16 year old think and what happens when they feel backed into a corner.
You get to experience Melissa's pregnancy with "Peanut" with her and Reed's becoming the bread winner with a job and trying to do the right thing.
You know parents can be a disappointment to their kids too but in the end here you see they find out what's right and wrong also.
I think this would be a very good read for teenagers and let this serve as a warning as to what can happen when you get carried away with those hormones and the wrong that can be done by some.

I set here and still have the same look on my face as I did when I read the first chapter. WOW, OMG WOW. I think back to my teen years and say yes this is pretty much how teens acted and pretty much what they did back in my day. I found this to be a very touching, emotional read with many of the issues of today’s teens. Even with all we have taught our children these things still happen, the choices they make are hard and when you add unwanted pregnancies and abuse to it than your choices are even harder.

This book has lessons we as parents need to be reminded of, just how easy it is for things to get out of hand. Sometimes we forget what it was like to be young or we remember to much and try to over protect our children. I feel this is a good read for not only parents but for teens. It is too easy for things to get out of hand and have our children to get hurt when they are in a place that we the parent cannot protect them. It is another reminder of just once won’t hurt, this can’t happen to me.

I felt this was a well written book the author touched on some very touchy topics but I felt she did a great job. This story has morals and great decision with trying times, even though bad decisions were made they stood up to the plate and became adults sooner than they thought they would have to. I thought it was outstanding how the father shared his story with his son. It shows even as adults we are not prefect that young or old we have made decision we wish we could change. To this day those decisions still haunt us. I thought the characters in this story were realistic and I found this story to be very believable.

I did enjoy this read, YA might not still be my favorite but it does open me up to a new genre.

3.5 Stars in my Sky!

Two Blue Lines is a young adult story about teenagers who find themselves in difficult adult situations. We were introduced to a younger Reed Young in the prequel novella Lines in the Sand. He's now 16 and dating former crush Melissa Summers. The problem is Melissa is pregnant...

S.C. Montgomery does a wonderful job highlighting not only the problems and struggles facing teenagers in general but also those of potential teenage parents. Reed and Melissa have some really sweet moments but also some pretty horrible ones.

Reed is scared about becoming a Dad at 16 but wants to be there for Melissa. Not only is she about to become a teen mum but Melissa is also plagued by other problems and doubts. Some parts of the story are really sad and traumatic.

The romance is sweet but it also demonstrates how impulsive teenagers can be. There were a few moments where I was annoyed by Reed's actions and others when I thought he was awesome. Similarly I had my doubts about Melissa at times and wanted her to be honest with Reed. She was very forgiving about certain events and I did think perhaps if her situation was different then she may have not been so easy to forgive.

The story covers some pretty traumatic issues and has a few potential triggers. I liked how Montgomery handled these topics and the attention made into making her characters seem realistic. The story is fairly short but I appreciated how the important issues were dealt with.

Becoming a parent at any age is daunting, but having to do it at 16? Overwhelming.

S.C. Montgomery has done a wonderful job of telling the story of two teens, growing up in a small town, and how an unplanned pregnancy affects everyone.

Melissa, adopted as an infant, has always felt less. Her parents, having been told they could never have children, started the adoption process and as the adoption was about to be finalized, found out that they were pregnant. Melissa has always felt inferior and not as "perfect" as her brother and has let her animosity about her adoption color her view of her parents, grandparents and brother.

Reed, grew up in a loving home with Mom, Dad and bratty little sister. His best friend, Jonah, lives a few houses away and is part of the Young family. Jonah's home life is not good, and as apathetic as his parents are, his older brother, Noah, is just plain mean.

Reed was 16 when Melissa told him she was pregnant. She was was keeping the baby, with or without Reed's support. As scared as both teens were, they were both sure of the love between them and no matter how hard, they would provide for their child.

Small town angst, high school cliques, and parental disappointment reign in this story. Having grown up in the same type of small town, I could fully relate to what the teens were feeling as they navigated the waters of an unplanned pregnancy and what that meant for their lives.

I can't wait for Blurred Lines to see how Jonah's story plays out.

Intense was the first word that came to mind about this official first in the Crossing the Line Series by S C Montgomery. I can not believe the feelings that coursed through me and caused meto hold my breath as I read Two Blue Lines. The two main characters, Reed Young and his girlfriend, Melissa Summers were so believable, so realistic and so vulnerable throughout the read. The most character growth was seen in Reed as he struggled with the thought of becoming a parent at the age of sixteen and eventually reached the point that he yielded to real love. I do believe the maternal instinct of a female, allows the mom to be to accept the concept of parenthood sooner than the baby's daddy.

There were many young adult issues brought out in the book and some language, so the book is designed for older teens to read and enjoy and would possibly be helpful to those teens facing the same situations and decisions. My favorite part was where Reed admitted all his fears to his dad on the beach and his father credited him for standing up and taking responsibility. It was at this point the reader witnessed Reed Young maturing and accepting his daddy role, right before our eyes.

I found this read to be sensitive and endearing and highly recommend it to older teens, teachers and parents alike.

Two Blue Lines was my first book from S.C. Montgomery and I loved it!!I had heard about this book from a few different people and finally had the chance to read it and I'm so glad I did!

I think Reed & Melissa are truly relateable .. down to earth teenagers.

His fear . .

I loved the fact that it starts with Reeds point of view then we get to see a bit of Melissas.

I haven't read Lines in the Sand (which I just bought) yet so I'm anxious to know more about Lettie & the beach.

The whole story I was rooting for Reed.. he seems like a geniune good guy..and pretty mature for 16 I think. I think S.C. Montgomery defintely creates a world that is totally real. Nothing fake about it. It didn't seem out of the box. I think it shows a realistic teenage world and their problems.

Wonderful read! Will definitely keep my eyes out for more books by S.C. Montgomery!!

Reed and Melissa's story is a true reflection of what is happening in society today. Their struggle of dealing with a teen pregnancy brought me to tears but it also gave me hope. To read this book and understand what it's like to be in their shoes in humbling, if not inspiring. I've always said that if my girls would end up being a teen and pregnant, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world as long as they are healthy and safe, what should it matter but I would feel all those things as Reed & Melissa's parents felt but my love would never falter for my child, just like them. It's also amazing how time and time again, history has a way of repeating it's self, with Reed and his father. I loved that Reed stepped up and became a man, even with everything that had happened between Melissa and himself. Being a teen is scary, finding yourself in a situation that's totally screwed up at 16 is tough, but they survived. In the end love always wins. My favorite line in the book is, "And now, you're going to see just how much your children -all of them- are gifts, and it's like they leave fingerprints on your soul." Isn't that the truth. S.C. Montgomery has a great start to a new YA Series.

Follow the life's of two teenagers that receive news that will change their future. Along with dealing with Melissa being pregnant she is keeping a secret from Reed. Will it tear them apart?

This is a book that deals with a true life situation in a realistic way. Not only does it focus on how this will change Melissa and Reed's life but how it impacts their parents, siblings, and friends. As the story unfolds they deal with what they need to do to prepare for the baby and how to deal with their feelings.

At the end of each chapter is a journal entry from Melissa. We soon learn she is keeping a secret from Reed. Towards the end of the book we find out the secret. Will Reed stand by her or leave her? You need to pick up the book and find out.

This was a great YA book that dealt with some difficult situations in a respectable way. It covers many emotions throughout the book and makes you feel for the characters. Can't wait to read more books by SC Montgomery.

Ever wonder what life would be if you chose a different path? Reed made me thinking about the what ifs. Take this journey with him into adult hood. Having to overcome some very mature adult issues. Fighting with what's right and what you would want. He takes you through many ups and downs. Makes you think of your childhood. How many teenagers deal with these situations on a day to day basis.

Montgomery found a way to draw you and make you live this change with Reed. The realistic situations, the need to feel young when life is throwing you a curveball. Wow!! It's hard to forget when dramatic changes make you grow up quickly.

Than we get slight points of views of what Melissa is facing. It broke my heart to see her trying to handle so much on her own. True love shined but it also reflected through her relationship with Reed that it isn't always rainbows and butterflies.

Loved the book and all the drama filled moments that kept me reading, and in tears from time to time. A must read. Looking forward to more from this writer.

Two Blue Lines picks up three years after Lines in the Sand. Reed and Melissa are now 16 years old and madly in love. Everything was perfect until Melissa told Reed that she was pregnant. With a baby comes a huge and possibly life altering secret. This story shows the real struggle of two young teens trying to deal with such adult decisions and responsibilities. Absolutely nothing about this book paints the situation as glamorous like T.V. and movies do these days. SC Montgomery handled writing about such sad situations in a very tasteful way. I applaud her for her ability to do that.
Two Blue Lines is an emotional roller coaster to say the least. The story is so well written that you feel the heartbreak and fear of the characters. It is so easy to be swept away by this beautiful story. I was brought to tears while reading about these two teen’s journey. I cant wait to see what’s next for them. It was a real pleasure following them and watching them grow as not only individuals, but a couple.

I was given the privilege to read this story written by SC Montgomery by the author. My first YA title I went in to this book wondering what it would be like to read, I'm older would a YA hold my interest. The answer is this book was a outstanding read. The story of Reed and Melissa, two teenagers facing the consequences of an unplanned pregnancy. Will future plans of higher education be lost, dreams shattered or do these two young people struggle and step up to the challenges. Ms Montgomery brings you into their lives, you feel every bit of pain and disappointment, but you also embrace the sweet heartfelt happy times. All the time you are reading this book you are hoping that these two kids can work through all the obstacles ahead. Real life situations are handled, life is not sugar coated. Yes there are poignant moments but there are also moments when you are applauding these kids! A great read. If I still had a teen in my house I would give them this book and say "read this"

Two Blue Lines was an emotionally moving story. Reading the description, you could picture what the focus would be, you'd be wrong. This story was about more than just a pregnancy and the changes it brings to those involved. There were many layers buried deep into the story and as you learned more and more about what was really going on, the story pulled you in deeper, and tugged at your heart strings.

Though, the initial focus is Melissa's pregnancy and both her and Reed's reactions to the news and how they handle it. Underlying this shock, are other revelations that effect Melissa deeply.

SC Montgomery has a winner in this emotionally charged story. The characters are great, the story is wowing, and feelings, oh the feelings you will go through. I enjoyed this debut very much.

I was given this book in return for an honest review. (it took a while for me to be able to read and review it because I couldn't get it to open properly for me, so for that I apologize!) This book was a great book! It was an easy read and relate able for those who had a child at a young age. Aside from the secret that Mel was holding in, I could relate with her in that way. I was 17 when I first got pregnant and understood how scared she was. She had some issues she needed to work through dealing with the pregnancy and she was lucky to have Reed there right by her side! Again, I was fortunate in that department and could relate with her needing his support. I could feel her emotions throughout the story. Even where our situations differ, I could empathize. You did a wonderful job with this story and THANK YOU for allowing me to read it. I can't wait to read more about these characters!

I received a ARC copy of this book and I have to admit I do not read a lot of YA books but I do enjoy one that is well written with a great plot. This story definitely fits that bill. We follow Reed and Melissa on a very powerful, emotional journey. Not only do they find out about Melissa's pregnancy but as a young couple they also have the addition of family and friends to contend with. On top of this Melissa is hiding a secret (nope I am not telling). I love the journal entries I think those pieces add additional depth to Melissa's character. This is a really amazing story and although it does deal with some touchy topics it is well written and will pull you into the story.

This story was well written, it was easy to connect with Reed and Melissa and to feel sympathy for what they are going through. Reed is so sweet and loyal but no push over. Melissa strong but has that vulnerable side that makes you want to reach out and hug her and tell her everything will be alright. A true coming of age YA story that a lot of young adults and older adults could benefit from reading. One of those life is not all smiles, laughs and good times. This story has some hard lessons about life in it and I feel tackles a couple of tough subjects in a thoughtful and realistic way. I will be reading the other books in this series.

Two Blue Lines by SC Montgomery
Rating: 4 stars

This story picks up years after Reed and Jonah in Lines in the Sand (which is an equally beautiful story). Reed and Melissa are finally a couple and such a sweet pair they make.

The book made me uncomfortable at times at the topic in question. It is a little deep for a YA book but I truly enjoyed the journey. Happily ever afters are a shoo-in but getting there, you really step into the shoes of Reed, Melissa and Jonah and experience their ups-and-downs.

Reed and Melissa are teenagers in love. When Melissa finds out she is pregnant, she tells Reed. But she doesn't tell him the secret she is carrying with her every day. Reed and Melissa have many trials in their life and learn how to love and forgive. I really enjoyed reading their story. The emotional turmoil they feel is portrayed in such a way that the reader can really feel it. A great story by S.C. Montgomery!

I don't usually read a lot of YA books, but I really enjoyed this one. Every time I thought something was going to happen a certain way the book went in another direction, loved that. You could feel the struggle these young people have to deal with when facing the responsibility of a baby coming. I highly recommend this book.
