Completely destroyed by this tragedy, she becomes more of a ghost than her brother; a walking shell of who she once was. With Rafe's suicide crippling her beyond repair, her parents fear losing another child to the darkness of depression. Faced with no other choice, they commit her in hopes of saving her, but nothing can protect her against herself. There is no greater hate than that of loathing oneself... Leland Baladan knows that all too well. Being born of a race of sadistic killers, he wants nothing more than to be something other than his angelic brothers. Haunted by a moment of weakness, Leland needs to make things right for the girl of smoke and sorrow. Even if it takes losing his humanity, he will save Tempest from herself, from his brothers, and above all, himself. Because when the truth of what she is to become is made known, nothing will stop his brothers from taking what is his. Because with saving her, he could save them all...

This is a wonderful read from Ms. Rose. The story is well written and I found myself wrapped up in the characters.
Many of us have lost someone that we felt was attached to our soul. How would we react to someone that was our twin and they had taken their own life? Would we carry the burden that we didn't do our part to protect them from pain?
Temper has lost her twin brother, Rafe to suicide, or so she believes it to be the case. Her parents can't handle the pain any better and seeing how Temper has withdrawn from everyone around her, place her in a State Mental Health Facility. Afraid to care for anyone else that she could lose, she withdraws further from anyone she comes into contact with until she meets Leland.
Leland is a fallen. Meant to be there to make amends for the loss of Temper's brother, he finds himself attached in more ways than he planned. He wants to save and protect her, not just from herself but from those that want her for their own personal gain. But at what cost will that be? Can either of them protect their hearts from what they feel for each other and from others that are out for themselves?
This has an amazing twist in the story about who Temper really is and her purpose in life. I read this story in one sitting and refused to put it down till I was finished. I'm looking forward to the next story and will be begging Ms. Rose for the next book. Please check out this author's work. I have not been disappointed at all.

I loved this book and cannot wait for the next in the series! The writing, the characters, and the story truly stand out amongst others of this genre.
This story has a deep emotional side to it that had me truly feeling the sorrow and despair of the main character, Tempest, who lost her twin brother to suicide. The loss, love, angels and demons all kept me intrigued and desperate to turn the page just to get more. The characters are so beautifully well developed. I love that I could feel all the pain and anguish of Tempest and her situation. She stays true to herself throughout the story yet I could see as she started to grow and change mentally and emotionally. It was an amazing transformation that is done well within the constraints of a shorter novel. I can see this is just the beginning of a strong female lead that will stay with me long after the series finishes. Every character is written in this same fashion, each showing their individual vulnerabilities and strengths.
There are some unique aspects to this story that truly captivated me unlike anything else that I have read but I don’t want to spoil the surprises. I was glued to my Kindle until late into the night. Once I began reading I quickly realized I would stay up as late as needed to finish this story uninterrupted.

After finishing this story, I am so happy that this is just the beginning of what promises to be an amazing series.

We meet the main character, Tempest, at her darkest time, unsuccessfully trying to come to terms with her twin brother's suicide in a mental hospital. A young man named Leland enters her life and is insistent on being a part of it. The truth behind his identity, and what Tempest discovers about herself is something I did not expect. Ms. Rose took what might have been a typical "boy meets troubled girl" scenario and turns it into something meaningful, and believable even against the backdrop of an unfolding supernatural setting that is quickly spiraling into chaos. I loved how both of these characters see themselves as broken and useless but in each other's eyes, they are perfection.

I am anxiously waiting to continue this story.

Saving Babylon is the first in Pyxi Rose's new trilogy. Part titled as Beginning, it most definitely does that. It sets us up in a world where religion, faith, health, wellbeing and love collide in a tantalising mix.

The characters are well created. Loveable, and flawed, and the villains are just what we them to be - villainous!

I am rooting for Tempest, commonly known as Temper, as she comes to terms with the tragic loss of her brother, her incarceration in a mental hospital, and learning to trust herself around handsome Leland!

I can't wait for more of them, and Kier, and Pyxi Rose's straight to the point and well written prose!

What really struck me about this story was how much the beginning really related to me and how I felt and still do from time to time about how my brother passed away. The raw emotions that Pyxi explores in this novel are heart wrenching, but authentic. She ends up questioning everything about herself, her life, her brother Rafe and the one that she does love but really has a hard time understanding why. But the beauty of this story is not that it is a realistic fiction, but the fact that it has supernatural elements and she is able to mold the story into something that is emotionally in this world is what really sets this story apart.
I fully enjoyed Pyxi’s first novel 9th Taghairm, and I expected greatness when I read Saving Babylon. Once again I was blown away by what this book had within it. It tore me to pieces and slowly built me up again, only to tear me down again. This is a must read for those who love books that bares its soul and forces you to bare yours.
