“This is Colonel Wyatt Matthews with the Phoenix Brigade, a federal military unit. I come to you this afternoon with a public service announcement. The federal government seeks the public's assistance in locating Jason Sterling, the former Governor turned fugitive wanted for severe acts of treason against the United States.”
“Jason Sterling is accused of committing multiple offenses that undermine the national security and interests of our country and the Western States District. His actions have been deemed treasonous, and he poses a significant threat to public safety and the well-being of the nation.”
“The federal government urges anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Jason Sterling to come forward immediately. Sterling is considered armed and extremely dangerous and should not be approached. If you have any information, please contact your nearest law enforcement office or visit the nearest federal building.”
“A substantial reward is being offered for any information that leads to the capture and arrest of Jason Sterling. Your cooperation is vital to ensuring the safety and security of our nation. Together, we can bring Jason Sterling to justice and maintain the integrity of our country.”
“We’ll do what we have to do, sis. We’ll do it so the next generation won’t have to. We’ll do it so William and Olivia can grow up without the shadow of the ARK. This was dumped in our laps, and we’ll deal with it.”
Set in Nevada.
It’s been twelve years since the initial EMP event.
Jason Sterling, 51 (🤯), is now the Governor of the Western States and a Colonel in the (new) United States Army.
Update on everyone’s ages: Braden (53); Jill (39), now teaching at the local college; Tara (23); Isabella and Kari (37).
It’s great to be back in this world. The Western States are flourishing under Jason and his team’s leadership.
Madeline’s warning regarding Victor Offenhauser. 💥
Some setting of the table before a wild and adrenalin-pumping ambush.
The hoax of a radio announcement. 😳
We’d become wanted men in our own city. A city we helped build. A city we’d fought for.
Awesome strategizing and teamwork. Old friends—and family. The gang is all back together.
Thomas Sweeny and Anthony Garcia; the Straight Flush Mine.
Sonny and Oscar; unraveling the plot…
General Scott Miley and the Stalkers.
Equipment and personnel transfers…
Standoff at the Capitol.
Outstanding operations and battle sequencing action. Hits all its notes in missions, espionage, attack, subterfuge, and intrigue.
Excellent wrap-up. Gorgeous send-off to a stellar series.
“We’ve faced much worse situations before, and we always prevail. Nothing like betting against the Sterling family, only to have the table get flipped on you.”
Jason Sterling and all of his cohorts fit the description of quite a character. That is what attracts me to books like this. Descriptions of all the cool gear are interesting but too many authors rely on them instead of what makes a great story, that is the people that the stories are about. The characters are what makes a good story great. This is my second read through the entire series and that is only possible because of great characters. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I have.
I started this series when it first came out. I loved the way Sean Liscom wrote. I feel like he did an excellent job with each additional book that came out. This 8th was waited on with much anticipation. He did not let his readers down because it was as good as his first book. Thank you for 8 great books.
The editing has been slipping the last 3 books. Still great reads though
The storyline is fun and brisk, and the characters are developed well, however, the editing has been slipping with chapters stating you're instead of your, etc. Not a big thing, but it takes you out of the story a bit when you notice.
The book followed the series perfectly. Easy reading and kept my interest throughout. The overall series of “The Ranch” are well worth the time and will leave you looking forward to next book.
What a way to end a series. Lots of twists and turns ,but there was too much happening to close the book. Anyone who likes military stories will enjoy this series by Mr. Liscom.
