I have been writing fiction for more than twelve years. It has been an exciting journey for this math-loving-dyslexic girl. I had read less than a handful of novels by the time I graduated from college and I thought I would end up in the field of science or math. But God had other plans and I wouldn't trade this journey for anything. As someone told me once, God's plans may not be easy, and they may not always make sense but they are never boring.

In addition to my writing, I also work for My Book Therapy as a special project project manager and write for LearnHowToWriteAnNovel.com and you can find me blogging over there on occasion.

When I am not writing or working, I spend time with my amazing husband. We have been married for fifteen wonderful years and have three sweet children. In my free time, I love coffee, rock hounding with my husband and kids, and distracting myself from housework.

This was a cleverly plotted book, mixing romance with fantasy!

Both main characters are stuck. Logan Kingsley is not only stuck in Heritage, but also stuck as an author. Logan’s already had two extensions on his upcoming sequel for his epic fantasy series, and he can’t seem to capture the essence of success his previous two books had. Devin Hendrickson is also stuck. Her car has broken down, her parents have let her down, and she’s struggling in a career that isn’t growing quickly enough. Feeling ‘down’ is awful any time, but experiencing those feelings at Christmas is difficult - especially when everyone is rejoicing.

I loved the message about not selling ourselves short.

If you’ve ever feared not measuring up, being rejected, or struggling to get a career going, you’ll identify with Logan and Devin. If you’ve ever been part of an adoption story, you’ll have a soft spot for Devin. I just had an experience this summer that paralleled Devin’s, making her experience more relatable for me. It’s not easy being seen as an interruption, but I’m glad for the growth that occurred as a result, both for me and for Devin.

We aren’t meant to do life alone.

I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

What a great Christmas novel and addition to the series!

Devin moves from Detroit to Heritage in hopes of securing a permanent position working with foster children and families in the area. Devin has a strong friend group in Heritage.

Best selling author Logan spends most of his time at his remote cabin writing under his pseudonym.

Devin and Logan had sparks in the past, but it didn't quite work out for them. This time they are both a bit hesitant to try again.

I loved the story within the story which was Logan's novella series he was releasing each week in the novel.

My gratitude to publisher Sunrise for a complimentary copy of the novel. I was not required to post a review and all opinions expressed are my own.

She saved the best for last. This book... awww!!!! Oh my goodness. I'm sobbing. So, so good.

I have loved every one of Tari Faris's Heritage books, but this one touched my heart in a huge way. I couldn't even put my finger on exactly what it was - the uncertain hero, the foster kids, the romance, the bonus novella excerpts throughout, the heroine's mix of strength and brokenness, the author stuff I related to way too well, the way all my favorite characters from every book previous came into play in such a big way. Absolutely beautiful and such a perfectly timed reminder that we don't do life alone, and love and relationships are always worth fighting for. However that may look.

I thought it would be the Christmas themes that made me love it best. I should have known it would be the characters. Tari Faris has a way of getting right to the heart of a character and bringing them to life in a way that encourages and brings hope and healing to her readers. This book is going to stick with me for a very long time. So, so, so grateful to have read this story.

Many, many thanks to the author and publisher for an early copy of this story. All thoughts (gratitude, tears, and swooning) are my own.

Going back to Heritage at Christmas was a real treat. The story was filled with holiday events that were special to Devin Hendrixson as she planned them for the families that were fostering children in town. The past comes back to haunt her when secret author Logan Kingsley returns to town. Logan likes Devin and Devin likes Logan but each is afraid to let the other one know. Talk about awkward!
Secrets, misunderstandings and insecurities make for a rocky relationship. Both Devin and Logan need to trust God more and do grow in their faith.
I loved the heart Devin has for foster kids and her creativity in providing Christmas projects for them. In the process, she learns to accept help and not try to do everything herself. Logan was smart but confused and very romantic when he gifted Devin with a charm bracelet with significant charms.
A unique slant was the story within a story-a very good serial novella that Logan wrote to appease his editor. This shows that Ms. Faris is adept at various genres.
I always enjoy the family feel of Heritage and how everyone pulls together to make things happen for the good of the community. I am sorry that this is the last book.

I am not ready for this series to end. Under the Mistletoe by Tari Faris and Susan May Warren is the final book in the Home to Heritage series.

With the foster care support program that Devin Hendrickson is running in Heritage in jeopardy, Devin sets out to prove the need for the program. She takes on the task of making Christmas extra special for the foster families of Heritage.

Logan Kingsley aka Victor Holt is a reclusive author who is at risk of tanking his own career. When Logan is forced to leave his beloved, secluded cabin to work with a writing coach via the internet, he and Devin are forced to confront their true feelings for each other.

I found Devin to be a very relatable character. Even though she had a lot of work to do to save her program she had a very difficult time accepting help.

I really enjoyed the way that the author combined the fantasy story that Logan was writing into the actual story. The story within a story kept everything interesting and moving at a great pace.

I would highly recommend this book.

I received an arc of this book from the publisher. My opinions are my own.

This was a great read! It was a Christian Christmas contemporary romance with a unique twist! Our MCs are getting a bit of a forced proximity, second chance in their small town. Our MMC has a secret identity - he's a famous fantasy author! (hello, pen name!). This aspect is really unique because we get to read chapters from a fantasy novella within these pages and see how his writings mirror real life and his pains and victories. Our FMC works with families who are fostering and adopting and I loved that aspect of the book. This is, by far, the best book I've read in the Heritage series and it makes me so sad that it is over! We get to see a lot of loved characters from previous books, and I just couldn't put this book down. The romance is just kisses, intimacy level 2.5.

I received an eARC of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Devin was the best part of this story! I loved how she worked tirelessly for foster kids and their families. It broke my heart how her family treated her!

I wanted to love Logan but his moodiness made it harder to enjoy him as much. The story within a story was a fun idea but wasn't my genre.

Thanks to Sunrise Publishing for the arc. The opinions are my own.

Another wonderful trip to Heritage awaits in these pages—and trust me when I say you’ll never want to leave! If I could find it on a map I’d move!

Devin has had a crush on Logan since college. But the last time she saw him he deeply wounded her heart. So when he turns up unexpectedly she’s not only shocked, but her world tilts on its axis.

Logan has always been interested in Devin. As is his twin brother. When all signs point to his brother as the one she wants, he quietly retreats and doesn’t contact her again.

Now they’re both fighting to keep their jobs while fighting the attraction they feel for one another. Misunderstandings abound in this heartfelt, faith filled, powerful story. Prepare to get frustrated with these two!

The background characters are wonderful. Some familiar faces and some new ones join together to round out the story. And Otis makes a cameo!

I received an advance copy from the publisher. I’m under no obligation and my review has not been solicited. Highly recommend!

Under the Mistletoe is the fifth book in the Home to Heritage series. It can be read as a standalone, but if you love faith-filled, small-town romance, this is the series for you.

Coming back to Heritage was such a treat, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Devin pours her heart into her work as a social worker, helping foster care/adoption families. I love that we get to see a glimpse into the foster care system. She does such a great job that she sometimes finds herself trying to do it on her own strength. When Logan shows up at Thanksgiving, this old flame gets a chance to reignite. Logan is burning out in his career as an author, and Devin might just be the thing to spark his creativity again.  I loved that through this book, we also got to read “Logan’s” fantasy story. It was fun to get a sprinkle of the story and a different genre within. This was the perfect Christmas romance.

The character development was great. Devin is dealing with the feeling of rejection from her parents. They have always put their work first and Devin last. Logan always feels like the child who does not belong in his family. Like he never measures up to his brothers, and that his twin is always the guy everyone wants to be with. Watching them both work through things was great.

This second-chance, forced proximity romance is a sweet and kisses-only romance.

The author did a great job interviewing Faith throughout the book.

I love being back in Heritage! Especially at Christmastime when we get two stories in one as Logan toils to believe in a happily-ever-after for himself as well as the characters in his novel.

Misunderstandings and insecurities kept Logan and Devin from being more than friends back in college, but when they reunite years later, they get a second chance at love. But their old struggles still haunt them, and new difficulties with their jobs and families threaten to tear them apart.

This was such a sweet book. I never have read a book within a book so that aspect was super fun. I love the small town of Heritage from Tari’s books, they make me feel like I could be part of the town. In this book, Devin was struggling with her own family members who made her feel like she wasn’t important to them. She works as a social worker, she’s doing all she can to help keep the organization she works for. Logan Kingsley is a bestselling author behind the pseudonym Victor Holt, he’s hiding away in his cabin away from the world while fighting writer’s block to finish his final book. And he is also trying to keep his forbidden feelings for Devon tucked away. We have such a great message in this book, we’ll never measure up to someone else’s standard but in Gods eyes we are perfect abs more than enough.

There are foster siblings who are in need of a home, will Devin and Logan be their forever home?

My rating is 4.5, but that's basically a 5 star read :)
Even though the cover is great and Christmassy, I don't think it conveys the main characters accurately the way they're so joyful.

I didn't want to give it a perfect 5 stars because Logan has unexpected insecurities that he has to give to God before he can enjoy his happily ever after with Devin and the few scenes this is shown with, hit me as ridiculous. He is a GREAT character and definitely has a heroic heart, which shows MUCH more in his writing but still, it's THERE. Logan also gets hurt/jealous over a HUGE misunderstanding with his brother, Liam, but Devin appropriately points out that if he had CONFIRMED the misunderstanding with HER then it would've saved them both grief. Again, an unnecessary insecurity that is well written from Faris, but made me want to bop some sense into Logan's head.

LOVED Devin right away and she was the reason this book is worthy of 5 stars. LOTS of Christmas in this story also and I'm overjoyed to start reading Christmas stories filled with faith this time of year :)

Also, BIG theme of fostering kids and adoption in this story and that is something very important to me. It was handled accurately and enhanced the story MORE.

So Devin and Christmas are good reasons for this being a 5 star read, lastly Logan's FAMILY. Their dedication to each other, God and community, their BANTER, and of course their FULL support of Logan's writing career...makes the reader want to JUMP into this story and adopt them as YOUR family!! Can't emphasize THAT enough.

The bracelet was also a lovely addition to the story, reminded me of a Hallmark Christmas movie with Alicia Witt. I SO appreciate authors describing SILVER jewelry instead of GOLD, my preference is silver :)

I honestly wasn't interested in "Logan's" story at first, but by the middle of the book it got my attention. The extra story was nice, but kind of felt like it took pages away from Devin and Logan's journey and I was much more interested in reading their friendship-turned-romance. Despite my comment in wanting more pages with Devin and Logan, it was clever to parallel Logan's emotions to the fictional story so that Devin could figure out what he was experiencing in real life and confront him about it! If only all relationships had that type of communication with one another because we're not all good at being verbal and this helped Devin figure out what to do next! The way she loved Logan, fought for him and believed in him as a writer was inspirational. SHE made is clear that he was worth fighting for but also insisted that he respect her enough to fight back instead of hiding out.

How the kids surprised Devin at the end with gifts was also awesome...highly recommend this read, go get yours this 2025 holiday season!!

This was a story that will touch your heart while filling it to the brim, and will inspire your soul. There were so many messages in this book. One of which was family does not have to be blood-related, and another was that we do not need to shutter ourselves away trying to do everything alone. Both Devin and Logan learned that you need to fill your life with friends who will be there when you need them, and you can repay that favor forward. This will make your life full.

Devin Hendrickson is a social worker who has a true heart for foster children. Her foster care program in Heritage is in jeopardy. Her heart aches for these kids. Her heart aches for family and feeling loved. I dearly loved Devin. She lived her life to serve others, never expecting anything in return, and it was not because she had been given warm love growing up.

Logan Kingsley writes under the pseudonym Victor Holt. He is a true recluse in every sense of the word. He is also very grumpy, but some of that grumpiness comes from a place of insecurity. I wanted to pop Logan at times, but I also knew that some of his attitude came from fear of being tossed aside and rejected. His fear of rejection and pain had sucked the joy out of his life.

This cozy, warm romance was one that was hard fought. Nothing is going to go easy for these two. This was a Christmas romance only because it was set at Christmas. It was much more than candy canes and Christmas trees. It had true heart. Emotions were high and very personal.

It was inspirational due to the faith message, but also because of the community of people who make up Heritage. My heart was filled to the brim after reading this book, but it also ached a little thinking of the foster children. The author has really outdone herself in this installment of this series. This one deserves much more than five stars.

Thank you to Sunrise Publishing for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

ARC REVIEW:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Christmas is a time to celebrate with those you hold nearest and dearest. Unfortunately for Devin Hendrickson, this magical time has be overshadowed by distant parents and work pressures. As a social worker for the small town of Heritage, Michigan, she runs the Foster Care Support Program. However, low turnouts and budget concerns means the entire program (her job included) is on the verge of being shut down.

Logan Kingsley has written one of the most successful fantasy series under the pen name, Victor Holt. By using an alias and writing in a secluded log cabin, he managed to secure his anonymity. But when his publishing house is unhappy with the draft for his fourth book, they demand a complete rewrite. In order to prove he hasn’t lost his touch they are requiring him to write a Christmas novella. Releasing a chapter a day until Christmas, the hope is to keep readers interested until he can release the series finale.

Will Devin and Logan be able to come together to meet their individual deadlines, or will their lives go up in flames before the year end?

Tari Faris is back to wrap up the Home to Heritage Series. While Under the Mistletoe is the fifth and final book in the interconnected series, it can be read as a standalone novel. However, for optimal enjoyment, I highly recommend reading them all!

This book is a master class in storytelling. Not only does Faris create relatable characters, she takes them on a journey that is bound to leave a lasting impression. In addition, her stories are rooted in faith and thus filled with hope.

Be sure to read Under the Mistletoe for:
-second chance romance
-hidden/ secret identity
-found family
-dual POVs
-cozy christmas vibes
-faith elements

Special thanks to Susan May Warren, Tari Faris, and Sunrise Publishing for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this trip back to Heritage. The small town trope is one I enjoy. We meet up with some “old friends” from previous books in the series which is nice. But Devin and Logan are the stars of this story.
Devin has moved back to Heritage in the hopes of really getting the foster care support program going strong. And she has a whirlwind of Christmas themed events to make that happen. I love her heart for family. And while she does have a family, her parents are not the lovey dovey type. They are not even the show up when plans have been made type. They have much more important things to do than spend time with their daughter. And I think that is one reason Devin pours her heart into this foster support program. But its also a big reason for the hurt she carries inside her.
Logan is a best selling author, but only his family knows this. He writes under a pseudonym and is struggling with his next book. Writes block has a grip on him and isn't letting go. Logan has a wonderful family but also has some scars from his past that has him holed up by himself, with only his dog for companionship, in a cabin far from family and even basic communication. He's not a total recluse, he does venture home when he needs the internet.
And that is exactly where he is headed when his buddy calls him and asks him to pick up a friend who's are is stuck.
And that friend is Devin. And they know each other. And like each other. Or did until that one night.....
This book is full of small town Christmas fun. Friends that are like family even if you try to push them away. And a reminder that each of us matters.
Thank you to the publisher for providing me a copy of this book. It was a fun Christmas read and I enjoyed it. The opinions stated are all my own.

I loved this story of Devon (she) and Logan. Devon moved to Heritage to work with families who are involved in the process of adoption by helping them integrate and connect within the community. Logan is secretly a best selling author whose family lives in Heritage. Devon and Logan have a misunderstood and painful past having known each other in college. While preferring to avoid seeing each other again, they accidentally connect when Logan returns for a brief visit with his family in Heritage. Both Devon and Logan struggle with personal issues and career challenges which cause problems as their attraction to each other deepens.

However, what made this book more unique and engaging was that Devon was a huge fan of Logan’s books, while not knowing he was writing under the pen name of Victor Holt. Logan is writing a series spinoff to his previous books to prove to his publisher he has what is needed to complete the last book in the existing series. A book/story within the Meet Me Under the Mistletoe book was created as Logan writes his spinoff using inspiration from his re-established and troubled relationship with Devon. The story within the story was so intriguing and brought more depth to this book and its characters. Soon you become invested not only in the relationship between Devon and Logan but in the made up characters and story Logan (Victor Holt) is writing! Various “chapters” are provided as written by Logan and are as captivating as this book itself.

There are some humorous points within this book and the storyline and characters were well written. I really didn’t want to have this book end and wanted to read more about the future of these characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and loved the double storyline. Would highly recommend.

"Heritage is more than a community. It's a family. We are here for you. Your parents are not the only family you have."

I'm thrilled to return to Heritage, Michigan again! Under the Mistletoe is set during the Christmas season, but it's so much more than a Christmas story. There's a powerful reminder of the need for, and importance of, caring foster families, and the poignant suggestion that families aren't determined by blood alone.

There's also a touching romance between two wounded people. Is there anything worse than feeling unloved or unwanted? I loved the progression of their relationship and the novel that allowed Logan to express his personal feelings for Devin. It isn't often that readers have the chance to enjoy and savor two romance novels at the same time!

Under the Mistletoe has endearing characters, take-your-breath-away romance, and all of the joy and emotions of the holiday season! There's also a delightful reunion with many characters from the previous stories! I loved this latest addition to the Home to Heritage series, and I recommend it to all who enjoy romantic Christian fiction.

Under the Mistletoe was a lovely ending to the series.

I enjoyed that I could read a fantasy book inside the contemporary storyline. For me it was a nice way to break from the contemporary storyline conflict between Devin and Logan, it fit since it was Logan’s heart on paper. He had so many thoughts and emotions we were not privileged to see otherwise.

Devin’s childhood years shaped her tendency to attack tasklists on her own and not realise there were people around her willing to help. Sometimes we also tend to try to sort things out on our own, without asking others, or more importantly, God for assistance.

I enjoyed the ending and how all the siblings invaded Logan’s hideout to give him a gentle push.

Though Devin and Logan’s story was beautifully resolved, I feel like there were open ended threads with Jaime and Greyson and Jess. I would love stories with these three in the future.

Under the Mistletoe is the latest novel in the Home to Heritage series. It's filled with family, second chances, secrets and a hint of fantasy. There is a strong coming home again theme which is reenforced by the appearance of some of the original characters from the Restoring Heritage series.

I love Devin's passion for foster kids which was captured perfectly and almost felt as though it was coming through the pages. Logan's battle with his writing felt authentic and it was interesting to see how that impacted him and his relationships with his family.

I really enjoyed Under the Mistletoe, and I would highly recommend it, if you enjoy cozy Christian, Christmastime romance with second chances.

This was the first Home to Heritage book I have read, resulting in some preliminary confusion in the composition and connections between the various characters. The storyline is well-planned, however, and I was soon engrossed in Devin’s struggle to implement her program for the town’s many foster and orphan children.
Logan’s reclusive lifestyle is rudely interrupted by his editor so that he is ‘forced’ to remain at his parents’ home in Heritage. His attraction to Devin is re-ignited and he finds himself increasingly involved in her projects.
Ms Warren and Ms Faris have created realistic characters portraying emotions and reactions their audience can empathise with. The story-within-a-story is a masterful touch which significantly enhances the interest level and anticipation for readers.
I received this book as a review copy, and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.

This is the fifth and final Home to Heritage book. You don’t need to have read the earlier Home to Heritage books, but this one features a lot of the characters in the original Restoring Heritage series. I really enjoyed the glimpses into the lives of those familiar characters.

I loved the two main characters, Devin (female) and Logan. They each feel like they’re not enough, and face a journey to healing in that area. The foster kids that Devin is pouring her life and love into are great. The story is emotional and I got so wrapped up in it our supper was quite late.

I don’t like the idea of nor more Heritage books, but at least I can go back and re-read them all.

I love just about everything Tari Faris and Heritage. Each book in this series has been an absolute delight. And Under the Mistletoe is the perfect addition, filled with both old favorites and new characters that charmed their way into my heart. I could not help but adore the interplay between Devin and Logan, characters who struggle in their own ways with identity and belonging. As the plot thickened and a variety of issues threw themselves at our hero and heroine, I was thoroughly gripped in the story, anxious for the cast I had come to love.

I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this series. Tari Faris is a favorite, and she has created a place in Heritage that holds my heart.

Under the Mistletoe by Tari Faris and Susan May Warren is book five in the Home to Heritage series. I have absolutely loved every installment in the Home to Heritage series, but I think this Christmas book is my favorite of them all! I really loved the characters in this book. They felt so real that I was sad when the story was over because I wanted to know what happened next in their lives. The story was complex and believable with real obstacles that had to be overcome but I just loved how the main characters dealt with everything and how the community came around them. I truly hope this is not the end to this amazing series. I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.

Devin runs the foster care support program in Heritage and has to show her job is needed by operating many Christmas projects. A sibling group of three really get to Devin's heart. Logan Kingsley broke Devin's heart when they were young and now lives a reclusive life as a pseudonym author but Devin brings him back to town where he falls for the three orphaned children. Will the Christmas spirit of Heritage save Devin's job and bring back Logan's writing ability. You won't want to miss this tender story of love, family and the Christmas spirit. I received an advance e-book of Under the Mistletoe from Sunrise Publishing. This is my honest opinion.

This was the cutest story! First of all, I loved Logan‘s profession and the story within the story (IYKYK) and I loved the foster care elements as well especially with the Christmas time setting. Tari is a master at weaving in inspirational and spiritual elements into her stories and this one is no exception. I really liked the faith thread. Heritage has always been such a great place to visit in these stories and I’ve loved each of my visits. This is definitely one of my favorite contemporary series and I cannot recommend it enough!

I received an ARC of this from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.

Under the Mistletoe was a sweet read. Logan and Devin have a shared history, but with it comes a broken heart and misunderstanding. The characters experience hurts, insecurities, and doubts and must learn to go to the Source for help and allow others within their community to help. Such a cute Christmas read with faith elements woven in, family dynamics, and 3 foster siblings.

Enjoyed this so much!

Oh my goodness! I’m not sure what I enjoyed more, the main story or the secondary story that ran through it. I love the way Logan and Devin both doubted their worth but found it in the love of their Father. Add in Logan’s amazing family, his gorgeous (manly) dog and three children just wanting to be loved and you have the perfect recipe for a book you won’t be able to put down!

Back in the cozy town of Heritage, Under the Mistletoe captured everything I love about Christmas romance—faith, family, and finding hope when life feels stuck. Devin, a social worker fighting to save her foster care program, and Logan, a reclusive bestselling author battling writer’s block (and a long-buried crush), were such beautifully real characters. Their second-chance story was heartfelt, full of growth, and wrapped in the warmth of community and grace.

I loved the foster family dynamics, the story-within-a-story touches, and the reminder that we’re never meant to do life alone. Tari Faris has once again delivered a tender, redemptive, and faith-filled romance that feels like coming home.

ARC received for consideration; all opinions are my own.

Under the Mistletoe

A story within a story! How fun is that? Devin is a social worker running a foster care support group in Heritage. Logan is a best selling author who writes under a pseudonym. He hides out in his cabin trying to overcome the writer’s block and his feelings for Devin. Then three of the foster children capture his heart as well. But both Devin and Logan have issues they need to overcome. I highly recommend you read this book!
