They came to train. They found a war that began 50,000 years ago.

In the swirling crimson mists of the Carmine Nebula, what starts as a routine training mission for Crix Nakato and his navigator protégé, Izzy, turns into a nightmare. A haunting disturbance in the Vermillium network—what Izzy can only describe as screaming—triggers echoes of an ancient threat long thought vanquished. When Pixel, the strange fox-like companion linked to Izzy, begins to change, the danger becomes impossible to ignore.

Called back to the heart of the Navigator Collective, Crix must confront a chilling something is testing the network, probing for weaknesses. And it isn’t human.

Trapped between survival and sacrifice, Crix and Izzy must unlock the secrets of a forgotten war and make a stand aboard a derelict starship with a weapon cobbled from ancient technology and raw desperation.

Because the Harbingers have arrived.

And they’re only the beginning.

Star Borne Strays Series

I loved this series. I'd rate it ten out of ten. It has strong family and emotional ties that weave through all.of the books. I really enjoyed flying through space with the main characters. There were problems to be solved, battles to be won and new worlds to be found. This was an adventure from start to finish. Terrific!!

Star Series

I’ll keep it brief. When I came across the first book in the series I read the sample, and upon completion purchased the series. No regrets. The author Jon Kiln provides us with just enough of well, everything to keep things interesting. It’s a good, light read for young and old, and with that last, I take my leave. :-)

A wonderfully Imperfect finish

Great ending to this series the series! Should have been a 4.5 star book and will average out just fine. So why three stars... The weight of command... She wasn't the same little girl he fond on that ship... Kiln could have knocked 20 pages off the length of the book if he had stopped using those same observations/images. I was close to stopping reading the book those got so old! The out of the blue we find out that Crix washed out of the academy. What academy? I might have missed references before but if they happened they were overshadowed or this was the first time we learned about it and it never developed into anything, more wasted words. I still love this series and I'm glad I was able to bear the burden of Kiln's obsession with those turn of phrases. Navigate your way through them to the finish line. Jon you're better than that!

I wish the story would continue.

Five books. Read them all. On the edge of my seat and up all night sometimes. Just loved them. Exactly what I believe humanity should become in a fictional story about living among the stars. It's interesting that the author mentions the architects. I'd've loved to read more about them.

Excellent

This is an amazing author. I've read several of his books and I'm sure I'll keep reading. Wholesome and heart warming are the words that come to mind if I where asked to sum up my feelings generally. And I'll do something that I seldom do... Sign up for his newsletter.
