One Plus One by Jojo Moyes is finally here! This is undoubtedly the best Jojo Moyes's relationship novel to date. You'll laugh, you'll weep, and when you flip the last page, you'll want to start all over again.
If you'd like to enhance your experience while reading One plus One, then this book review and study guide is perfect for you!
One plus one by Jojo Moyes is a touching love story about Jess, her 2 children (Tanzie, 8 years old, is mathematical genius, while Nicky is an untypical teenage boy), and their old dog Norman, who have to face unbelievable challenges.
The story starts with good news when Tanzie was offered a 90% scholarship at one of the top schools. But even with 90% bursary funded, she can't still afford the extra money for Tanzie's uniform and other extras.

WARNING- This is not the original book"One Plus One"by Jojo Moyes, but a detail summary and study guide designed to be used alongside the original work.
I had seen Jojo Moyes' books, had heard they were great books actually, but had never picked one up to read. Then One plus One won a Goodreads Choice Awards category. I wanted to see what I was missing...I WAS MISSING SOME GREAT WRITING! The story takes place in this little village where single mum Jess( her no good husband left 2 years prior to "get well")is working two, jobs raising a little girl named Tanzie who's a Maths genius and a boy Nicky who despite the good person he is and not even being Jess' biological son but her stepson, is bullied and beaten by the punks in their village. And let;s not forget their dog Norman, who Jojo Moyes had a brilliant way of writing a dog character. When Tanzie gets a chance to compete in a Math competition to try and win the prize money she needs to go to this exclusive school Jess is determined to get her there. Not everything goes as planned and that's where Ed Nicholl's comes in. A rich software developer who is caught up in an insider trader investigation and who's house is one of many rich homes Jess cleans, also gets himself caught up in Jess' family adventure, and its an adventure, to get Tanzie to Scotland for the Maths Comp. One Plus One was a fun read even with some of the more real-life issues told in the book. It gave us a woman who against everything around her really sucking most of the time she was able to see the more brighter side of anything. I admired the character for that. She did everything she could all the time for the better of her kids. It spoke volumes about the everyday struggle some women go through raising a family on your own and the beauty of a mum's positive thinking. Then you have Ed. He was a great character. He added to the already funny moments through the book but we also got to know I guy who goes from the rich and wealthy to Jess, the kids and good old Norman giving him an up close and personal view into the everyday life of struggling blue collar families. Of course their ends up being love in the air between Jess and Ed. They are comical and then refreshing to read. When their bump in the road come along and tears them apart you are actually devastated for them. I'm not telling how it ends... I wanted the book to longer because these characters and their story was so awesome to read. This one book will make you want to pick up everything else she has written!

I don't know if you can tell but I am definitely a Jojo fan and this summer my goal is to read as many of her books as possible. Ok...One Plus One...it got a 5. Once again, Moyes worked magic in the realistic fiction genre and I am obsessed. The fact that this book had romance AND the semi-dysfunctional family thing going on was amazing. Everything just felt so genuine because all of the characters were drawn together to help one another. It was just a feel-good book that warmed my heart and I really felt a part of their story. Throughout the book, I just kept rooting for each of the characters individually, but also as a whole unit, and I thought that each of the characters were developed really well. Also, when a big event happens towards the end of the book, I can't help but hope (maybe) Moyes releases a second one to continue/finish the story. But it also just let's you create your own continuation of the story in your mind. Just amazing once again.
A romance, but quirky. The miles of differences between the wealthy and the barely making it, proves to be a huge distance to cross. “Free” indiscriminate love proves expensive in one relationship. Duh. A lying jerk of an ex-husband proves one has to check out circumstances before taking a financial beating, in another relationship. Add two children with totally different problems and the single mom, main character, has her hands full. 8 out of 10. Ms. Moyes never lets a reader down. I just stumbled on this book at the local library, but now I am a total convert of this British author, who is a combination of Nora Ephron and Sue Miller. Such sharply observed and quirky characters! This book tells the story of a heroic, down on her luck single mom, her math-obsessed wonder child, and the unexpected savior she finds trying to get a break for her child that she never had. Inspiring fun!
I like Jojo Moyes for a light (but not trite) romantic read. She delves into issues like poverty, generousity of spirit, the rewards of kindness, being different, bullying and finding your tribe. And yet it's still a lighthearted weekend read.
*Spoiler alert* Not a fan of sex scenes, and there are some. I do adore how Moyes manages to write satisfying endings that aren't fairy-tale perfect. Well done.

This was a first for me - an audio book. I thoroughly enjoyed it and used it to drag me through the Couch to 5k ap. I only let myself listen when running and as I wanted to know what happened next I looked forward to running which was a first for me. The story was a bit slow to get going but once it did it was brilliant.

Loved it. For the first time in a long time I’ve been more compelled to read than watch Netflix and finished this book in a week. Very real issues faced by believable and likeable characters. Would love a sequel.
I hadn’t found myself burrowed in a book for months, then borrowed this book from the library and finished it within 48-hours! I couldn’t put it down. Such relatable characters and a beautiful storyline.
Loved reading this book during the lockdown period.. It is such a feel good book with lovely genuine and characters in it..This is my first book of Jojo and I enjoyed it.. looking forward to read more books written by the author..
Sweet, sweet book. A young woman who is raising a brilliant daughter and her ex-husbands son from previous marriage has no reason to be optimistic about her out look but is. The trials and tribulations of having no help from ex and supporting herself by cleaning up after rich people.
Great and interesting story. In England they use the word Maths - which is referred to as just Math in the US bu this is what happens when you read books by authors from the UK.
Iesaku!
When I first started reading this book, the author's tactic of using a first name of a character for each of the chapters was confusing...basically because of the number of characters involved. I put the book down for a few days and when I picked it up again, I was hooked. The author knows how to take the characters and make them so real...you know these people by the end of the book and you feel bereft that they will no longer be in your life after the book is done. One of my favorite authors.
