PRESENT TENSE is the second book in the Parker & Coe, Love and Bullets Thriller Series, and as in the first book, (Identity Unknown) the story unfolds at a good pace, packed with witty, snappy dialogue, and a good balance of an intriguing mystery and action scenes.

The two main characters who connected in the first book (which I also highly recommend), have now joined forces in the bounty hunting business. Although Kelsey isn’t as experienced as Parker, her tenacity, sass, intelligence, and strength of mind is a complement to Parker’s experience and physical strength.

In this installment, Kelsey’s assignment seemed straight forward; accompany a bail-jumping con artist from Texas to L.A. What could go wrong? Let’s start with the dilapidated airplane she has to board, a pilot past his prime, and the good looking, con artist who is filled with charm, secrets and a goal that will mess with Kelsey’s mind, and have her running for her life.

Parker and Coe’s chemistry adds a lot of flavor to this story, as this couple is sexy, fun, a little crazy, a little unlucky, but a whole lot of fun to read. The story line, the main characters and the secondary characters are all well developed and will surprise you at every turn.

I look forward to the third book and highly recommend this series.

“The last place I expected to find myself was on a plane that was about to crash.”~~Kelsey Coe~~

And once more the first line of the book hooked me hard and kept me hooked through the whole story. I loved book one in this series, Identity Unknown, so much that I 1-clicked this one before I had quite finished the first. A little obsessive, I admit. I am not sorry. It was worth every second of my time.
This story starts a few months after the events of book one. Kelsey has left graduate school and moved to Houston where she and Zach Parker have started a skip-tracing business. Kelsey’s job in their new business, Parker, Coe and Associates, has been limited to doing all the paperwork involved with starting a new business, making contacts with law enforcement agencies and watching old movies while Zach has all the fun of actually pursuing the people who skip out on their bail. Kelsey is bored. She wants in on the action.

One day, while Zach is three hours away, she gets her chance. It’s a simple job that should be relatively safe and easy to complete. All she has to do is accompany a prisoner, by plane, from Houston to LA; collect her money and come home. Zach tries to talk her out of doing the job, stating that she isn’t ready to go solo on a job, but she is adamant and he relents. But nothing is ever quite that simple.

The prisoner she’s to transport is supposed to be Richard Henson, a high-end con man. But, to Kelsey’s surprise, his real name is Ethan Robert Rider, her old high school boyfriend. She hasn’t seen or talked to him in years, but she remembers well how much she had cared for him. His father was a con man, and after leaving school, Ethan had followed that path. Unfortunately for them all, someone wants Ethan dead. That leaves my girl, Kelsey, fighting for her life! Again! And the plane is going down!

This is another amazing adventure for Parker and Coe. My highest recommendation for this series. If you enjoy romantic suspense with some humor, you will love these stories. Just a word about purchasing these books. Both Identity Unknown and Present Tense are available to read free for Kindle Unlimited subscribers, but even if you aren’t, at $2.99 each, they won’t break the bank and you will have hours of fun with Kelsey and Zach.
Enjoy!

The second in the Love and Bullets series doesn't disappoint. Kelsey Coe and Zach Parker are now partners with a skip tracing business (a polite term for bounty hunter). Except as far as Kelsey's concerned, Zach is having all the fun chasing down fugitives, while she's stuck behind a desk. All that changes when Kelsey gets a chance to transport a prisoner from Houston to LA. True to form, Kelsey's adventure is only just beginning, and a simple assignment turns into a life and death fight -- highlighted by Kelsey forced to leap from a plane about to crash. Will Kelsey be able to prove to Zach that she's a worthy partner in their business? Only if she stays alive. Looking forward to more Parker and Coe adventures!
