This is smut, but the smut takes about 50% to get going. I went in because I thought her going after her mom’s BF would generate some drama... it doesn’t really.

There’s no double dipping, he hadn’t been doing the mom for some time before partaking in the daughter. She’s the main aggressor. If that helps.

I liked how caring and protective Reid was toward the people he cared about. Emma might be young, but she was responsible and not afraid to go after what she wanted. For a short novella, the story is complete with sufficient plot, tension, and conflict.

I hate that I see Reid as far more than my mom’s boyfriend.

My Mom’s Man is a story of pursuing what the heart wants. It would appeal to readers who enjoy a short, age-gap forbidden romance.

I am having a great time with the Taboo Streets novella series by K Webster. These are super quick, spicy novella's that you can read in one sitting. They are super short, so just go in with expectations of an instalove romance.

I was excited we were getting Reid's romance since I loved his character in the previous book about his son. He is the owner of a townhouse complex, and he has issues being too tender-hearted and giving to others. His girlfriend is taking advantage of his kindness, so she has a free place to live. They are not doing great, but he doesn't want to break up with her because he does not want to uproot her teenage daughter.

Emma has had a crush on Reid for a while, and now that her mom is constantly working, she is spending a lot more time alone with him. Reid is struggling with his new attraction to his girlfriend's daughter and sparks fly.

The chemistry between these two was fantastic, and K Webster always brings the heat.

Reid was so hot, daddy vibes coded What a filthy mouth he had on him. So so hot.

This book works, just like the others in the series. Short and quick, but really so great.

I honestly loved it, perfect amount of unhinged spice lol, found family and relationship development.

It’s a quick and fun book. I have begun to care for all the characters in this series.

Easy seggsy story to fly through in one sitting 😁
Oooo a smutty shorter read about a forbidden relationship between an 18year old girl and her mother’s boyfriend! Emma’s mother Aurora has essentially been using and manipulating Reid because of his hero complex and need to help those in need - she takes advantage of his selfless nature….Whereas Emma see him for the protector provider and caregiver he truly is 🥰 but rather than take advantage she wants to worship and respect that side of him! For an 18 year old she’s exceedingly mature and not afraid to go after what she wants 😆 Reid is a great MMC honestly a big protective cuddly teddy bear who does have a kinkier side…what more could a girl want 😍 there’s some turmoil over the whole forbidden element and particularly in Reid’s side as to whether they should or not but it all comes good in the end! There were pints that I feel could have been more developed, it didn’t massively blow me away but an Easy seggsy story to fly through in one sitting between other reads 😁

This quite literally took me 2 hours to read and I have thoughts...

Short, spoiler-free description:
My Mom’s Man is a quick, forbidden short story with... you guessed it. A girl and her mom's ex. Reid, the owner of a super cute apartment/condo community, welcomes Amara and her daughter into his home. When things start to get rocky between Amara and Reid, he gladly offers for Emma, Amara's daughter, to stay with him so that she doesn't have to uproot her life.

Pretty straight forward right?


Why I wasn't a fan you may ask?
Listen, I get it. This is a short story, so I wasn’t expecting layers of intricate worldbuilding or 400 pages of slow burn angst. But still… could we at least get a little more substance?
This is something with K Webster I have been noticing lately. I keep trying to give her a chance but I am let down every single time. Her stories feel rushed and unplanned. Literally you're introduced to these characters and all of a sudden they're banging.



There was zero room for character development, emotional pull, or even believable tension. It felt more like a snapshot than a narrative. Which, sure, has its place... but here it just read as flat and forgettable. I wanted messy emotions, conflict, something to chew on… this had so much potential and it makes me so sad tbh.

Verdict:
Two stars because the premise itself is spicy enough to pique curiosity, but the execution? Seriously lacking. If you’re just here for the forbidden vibes, maybe it scratches that itch. If you want anything resembling depth, though, hard pass.

Short and sexy, exactly how it was intended to be. I really would have liked more time from the MC seeing Emma as his girlfriend’s daughter to possible love interest. Even if he was attracted to her from the very start. It just seemed rushed, from him breaking up with his girlfriend to finding Emma hot. But…this is a two-hour read, I don’t really know what I was expecting. I still enjoyed it for what it was.

Loving these Taboo Treat stories with the men desperate to be with the women they love and the women just as achingly needing the men in their life.
Reid is in a relationship that is unsatisfying and going no where but Reid is too nice and selfless to end the relationship. Instead he becomes a martyr and tries to please everyone.

LOVED! I have enjoyed every book of this series. This was the perfect quick, smutty read considering I had just finished a book that was heavy emotionally. I knew Reid was going to be filthy and oozing Daddy energy based on his appearances throughout the series. And boy, did he live up to my expectations. You really can't go wrong with an age-gap, mom's ex trope. It just always hits.

It was nice to see some old familiars from the series, and I did enjoy the book, even though it was very short. And it also didn’t have whole lot going on plot wise, other than them just being in or around her home with her mom’s boyfriend. But their chemistry was cute and it was a hot taboo relationship.

The only thing where I feel like the author really didn’t get it right was the mother‘s character. We were supposed to hate her, so the author wrote her to be a cheater and a neglectful mother, and just an all-around bad person. But then also, we were supposed to really like her and the FMC loved her and wanted a relationship with her . It was all just really weird and confusing. I really felt like the mother’s character was written in a bipolar way that wasn’t convincing and I don’t think it really helped the story much or did anything for the reader.

Other than that, I’m really happy with the story and looking forward to not the next, but maybe the one after that.

Reid is a good guy and although he's known from the start that it's not a good idea, he still lets Amara and her daughter Emma move in.
Amara is a free-loader and is soon never home, they split and Emma stays behind. Attraction explodes and soon the right people get it on 😏
I enjoyed it & I like that you get a catch-up with the others!

My Mom’s Man by K. Webster is book three of her Taboo Streets series of novellas. This is a steamy, quick read about an age gap, taboo romance between Reid Foss and Emma Abrams.
We met Reid in The Neighbour’s Son because he is Brayden’s father and owns the townhouse complex in Moonlit Gables. This is a story about when temptation can’t be resisted and lines are crossed so there’s no going back but is this a love story that shouldn’t happen?

“I don’t too be rescued. I want him.”

Reid is forty four and a very kind hearted man who will do anything for anybody. He likes to fix things and make life better for everyone. He is currently dating Amara but things aren’t going well. He has slowly realised she is taking advantage of him so she has a free place for her and her daughter Emma, to live. Although he should break up with Amara, he doesn’t want to make them homeless and disrupt Emma’s life again. He has been like a father to her, stepping in when her mother lets her down.

Emma is a sassy and feisty eighteen year old. She has had a crush on Reid for ages and hates how her mum uses him. She is desperate for him to see her as more than someone he needs to look after and love him to reciprocate her feelings. She knows her fantasies are wrong as he’s her mum’s boyfriend but
her obsession with him is growing stronger.

They start spending more time together as Amara is always working. He refuses to give into his naughty thoughts and feelings for Emma as she’s younger than his son. A forbidden temptation which is getting harder to ignore.

Funny scenes between them when she’s in the shower and when he disturbs her in room. When she kisses him, his control finally snaps and he loses the battle to contain himself. He
hates himself for crossing the line but has never felt this way before.

I really liked how Emma sees him as a person who deserves to be happy, adored and treated the way he treats people. She knows their relationship will hurt her mum but she loves Reid.

There are cameos from characters from the author’s Taboo Treats World and it was nice seeing how Ava and Quinn were doing.

When their secret is revealed will he fight for her and find the happiness he deserves or will he let her go?

K. Webster is an author whose work I am always happy to dive into. At this point, I have read about forty of their works and continue to want to read more. While they do not all work for me – I find myself giving one-, two-, three-, or four-star ratings – I always want more. With the author’s taboo work, I find this range of ratings is the strongest for me. Some of the taboo books really work, others do not. For me, My Mom’s Man did not work.

My Mom’s Man can be read as a standalone even though it is a part of the Taboo Streets series. I have not read the other books and was not lost. There were lots of nods to the other characters (also characters in the Taboo Treats series), but it was not enough to lessen understanding. That said, I do feel like the constant nods, especially to the Taboo Treats, was a bit much considering how short this story was (after all, it took me under an hour and a half to read it).

On the topic of this story being short, I feel like my lack of enjoyment came from how short it was. There were many elements that could have been explored, but nothing felt developed. It felt like it existed purely to tick the taboo box and filled everything else with flat cliches to allow the story to move from point A to point B. I felt more tension between the characters in the blurb than I did in the story, such was how rushed it felt.

If you’re looking for something quick to tick some boxes, I am sure this will work. Sadly, for me, there was nowhere near enough to keep me hooked. Thus, sadly, this one missed the mark.

Returning to Taboo Streets is always a wickedly good time. I love jumping into the forbidden nature of this world, reading lots of spice, and finishing the book in just one sitting.

My Mom's Man is about a middle aged man, Reid Foss, who is the owner and all around handyman of the complex within this series. He sort of has a bleeding heart when it comes to the women he dates, hence his current girlfriend moved in and is taking advantage of his hospitality. She works, but she doesn't contribute to paying for anything and on top of that she hits him up for car repairs and the list goes on. I was not a fan of said girlfriend, just like many of his friends weren't either, but while Reid normally would have moved on and told her to leave, it's his girlfriend's daughter, Emma, that makes his heart say no. He's a good man and didn't want to kick them out, or more importantly he didn't want to kick Emma out. While he doesn't necessarily feel fatherly toward Emma, he definitely feels something for her...😏

Emma has a huge crush on Reid and this eighteen year old does a lot to entice Reid. They also spend a lot of time alone together while her mother is at work so it doesn't take a lot to tip Reid over the tipping point - remember this is a short book. Their story heats up pretty quick, like most of these taboo short stories do and by the end, I love how Webster makes everyone shine.

And honestly, he deserves so much more than he’s been getting. He had me swooning hard.

She wants him, not just physically (though, yes, we’re definitely on that ride), but because she recognizes how good he is.
