Seventeen years ago, I made a terrible mistake.

One I never imagined could have such horrible consequences.

But I thought—I hoped—that time would bring forgiveness. That people would realize I was just a foolish girl back then and not the responsible woman I’ve become.

I was wrong. Instead, I can’t go a day without someone in town reminding me of what a bad person I am. I can’t avoid the judging looks and whispered insults and insinuations that I’d be better off if I’d just leave Sleepy Hollow for good.

Except I can’t. And I don’t want to. Not when Sleepy Hollow is the only place that’s ever felt like home. But when the threats turn dangerous, I know it’s time to ask for help. The only problem? No one believes me.

It all started when I found Jess crying in her car outside the police station.

I couldn’t believe it when she told me she’d been turned away by the very department I work for. And worse yet, she wasn’t even surprised by it.

At first, it seems like someone’s trying to scare Jess out of town. Then it becomes clear their intentions are much more sinister, and the threats against her keep escalating.

I don’t care what other people in town say about her. All I care about is that Jess needs me.

As a police officer, it’s my job to protect. But when it comes to Jess, it’s so much more than a job. It’s protecting the woman I’m falling in love with.

Jessica’s Hero is a small-town romantic suspense with a protective police officer hero, a wounded heroine in search of redemption, action and danger, forced proximity, thrilling twists, and plenty of sweet and steamy moments. Can be read as a standalone novel.

Be prepared to have your heart squeezed as Gia draws you into another one of her well-crafted emotional but thrilling stories.
Jessica seems stuck in a life where a youthful impetuous decision has the whole town condemning and judging her. The depth of her scars both physical and psychological were palpable throughout the story. When she is rejected, yet again, by others for help and at a devastating low, Kane enters her life to offer an avenue of hope. An upstanding police officer, Kane makes her want to trust and believe in herself and others again. Alongside their passionate and tender love journey, there's a thrilling twist-filled suspenseful plot that keeps the pages turning. This can be read as a standalone but reading the other interconnected stories will definitely enhance this wonderful book.

**Emotional Ride**

"Jessica’s Hero" is the sixth book in the "Heroes of Sleepy Hollow" series, and it truly captivated me from the start, pulling me into my feelings. I could see a lot of myself in Jessica. She has no idea how strong she really is. After making one mistake as a young woman, many people in her town refuse to let her live it down. Unfortunately, this kind of situation happens often in small towns. While small-town life can be wonderful, it can also be hell for those who make mistakes.

Despite the challenges, Jessica never gave up, even when she felt like she had. She remained kind and considerate to others, which drew the attention of Kane, a younger cop. When Kane saw that Jessica needed help and realized that his fellow officers were not going to assist her, he was determined to support her. He also enlisted the help of his friends. With the love and support of Kane and the few friends she had made, Jessica finally gained the confidence to reclaim her power and stand her ground, understanding that one mistake does not define the rest of her life. This newfound strength also enabled her to confront the person who had been threatening her, even when no one else believed her.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat from the first page to the last, filled with suspense, mystery, and a huge twist that I definitely didn’t see coming. The characters are absolutely fantastic, and you can’t help but fall in love with Jessica and Kane. Their slow burn is the perfect mix, leading to a deeper, more meaningful connection, along with some very steamy moments when they finally get together. Kane's protectiveness over Jessica is heartwarming, especially after so many years of feeling alone and unsupported.

I loved seeing past couples and my other favorites from the series make cameo appearances. I appreciate the interconnectedness of the series, where each book stands alone but still gives glimpses of other characters. I can't wait to see what is in store for us next in this series!

This is best classified as a romantic suspense novel. This is the first Gia Cobie book I’ve read now I want to go back and read this series in order as well as other books by this author. For bases of the book i recommend reading the summary. The main female is Jessica she has choices in the past she regrets but a town won’t let her move one. Her Hero and the main male character is Kane. Kane and Jessica a a fun to read different but unique pairing. Author Gia Cobie does a fantastic job making reader fall in love with Kane and Jessica. You want to see them work out from the beginning not everyone or every character come across like Kane and Jessica do. Kane works as a small town police officer his draw to this job is revealed as part of the plot so read to learn his reasons. Tropes which would draw readers to pick it up are: Romantic suspense, Older FM /younger MMC, Small-town, Protective alpha hero (who's also a police officer),Found family,Outcast heroine searching for redemption, Thrilling twists, Sweet & steamy and Can be read as a standalone. This is book six in the heroes of sleepy hollow series. I recommend Jessica s Hero by Gia Cobie it’s brilliant and a new take on dramatic event which surround the suspense elements in the plot.

Gia Cobie delivers another emotionally charged, suspense-laced romance in "Jessica’s Hero", the sixth installment of her Heroes of Sleepy Hollow series. With heart-pounding danger, layered character work, and a deeply satisfying love story, this book stands tall as a compelling standalone that also enriches the series' small-town charm.

At the heart of the story is Jess, a woman haunted by a mistake from her youth—one that the town of Sleepy Hollow refuses to let her forget. Cobie paints her with empathy and raw honesty, making Jess a heroine readers can root for. Her struggle to reclaim a sense of dignity in a community that sees her as irredeemable is both infuriating and heartbreaking. But when those whispers escalate to real, dangerous threats, the story pivots from emotional drama to gripping suspense.

Enter her unexpected protector Kane: a principled and quietly intense police officer who takes it upon himself to help Jess when no one else will. His devotion builds slowly, authentically—grounded in trust, shared vulnerability, and the kind of chemistry that sparks on the page without ever feeling forced.

Cobie balances the romance and suspense with deft hands.

Where Jessica’s Hero really shines is in its emotional depth. The book doesn’t shy away from themes of shame, redemption, and the long shadow of small-town judgment. Yet, Cobie never lets the story get too heavy—there’s tenderness, heat, and hope laced through every chapter.

Whether you're already a fan of the Heroes of Sleepy Hollow series or diving in for the first time, "Jessica’s Hero" offers a moving story of second chances, found courage, and unexpected love. It’s a must-read for fans of small-town romantic suspense, protective heroes, and heroines learning to believe in themselves again.

A particularly sweet entry in the series. This one has our fmc, Jess, back in her small town escaping a bad ex. The hometown alienates her and holds a grudge against her for lies she told as a high schooler. Personally I found the fact a whole town still verbally shuns her after 17 years for what she did rather pushing believability. But suspension of disbelief wasn't too bad since at the heart, this couple was so cute.

They're basically instalove, with an MMC almost too sweet to be believed lol. Like there's nothing at all wrong with him. He does love bomb and build her up with compliments almost too much maybe, like it felt almost "sappy", I hate to say. I liked her shyness, i identified with that.

The romance was very center in this one and didn't quite have as much 'drama meat" to set it a part for me. My attention started to wane. It was still enjoyable for an escape though of you want a more sunny read! If you want an adorably kind, protective mmc and a shy fmc with a hint of mystery, this will do the trick. But I do have others in here series that I've loved!

Jessica's Hero is Gia Cobie at her best with a story so full of suspense, mystery, past trauma, redemption, romance and found family thst you will not be able to put it down. The storyline is emotionally tense and succinct and completely enticing to read. I love a character driven story and this one definitely ticked of all the boxes. The emotional connection between the main and secondary characters makes this one of my favorite books in this series. Kane and Jessica have many issues to work through before their HEA but the shame, embarrassment and guilt Jessica feel as well as her scars are handled with great tact. I think all of us can see parts of ourselves in Jessica. Kane is such a cinnamon roll character that I fell in love with him immediately. The twists and turns in this one will keep you guessing and I had no idea who the stalker was. Well done.

Jessica made a mistake year ago while in high school and moving back to Sleepy Hollow has been anything but good. People like to give her a rough time. Shes been through it for years. She likes to keep to herself and has friends online. Until she decides to report a break in to the police and one again gets turned away and brushes her off. And then Kane find her and instantly wants to help her and keep her safe. Things for Jessica escalate in a hurry in a bad way! Kane brings her to his place to keep her safe and protected. And oh does that forced proximity become hot! They are so adorable together and I LOOOVE how they have each other’s backs no matter what. They both have trust issues and they are so respectful and kind to each other it’s just so cute! I loved this book so much the mystery and whodunit will keep you engaged throughout the entire book! So so good 😍

The past can haunt us for a long time

This is Jessica’s story. We finally learn more about her and what really happened in school with Thea. We know all stories have multiple sides. We also get to see how wonderful and how sad small town life can be when memories are long. Kane is an everyday hero. He sees her for who she is and understands that she is not who she was all those years ago. Jessica has a quiet strength that is hard to see at first but she preservers. I love these two as a couple. I love the strength they pull from each other and how Kane reinforces the strength Jessica already has by just believing in her and standing up for her. I couldn’t put this book down until the end. It was a really late night.

I don’t like writing reviews on three stars or less because it’s so difficult to be honest but not hurtful.
I will say that this book was just okay for me, nothing outstanding or overly bad, just okay.
Maybe it was the writing style, I just don’t know.
I usually love small town romance, how everyone is like a big family. This was not that, everyone seemed so rude to Jess and the reason why was not warranted. Kane seems too perfect which is just so annoying really, no one is perfect.
I think the best part was the suspense of who’s doing the awful things to Jess.
This was my first book from the author and maybe that’s why I just didn’t connect with it.

This book is written well but I must admit it’s fairly long-winded and very repetitive. While the storyline is quite interesting and complex - if I had to read, “it isn’t your fault” from either one of the main characters I think I might’ve screamed a bit. Lol Jess and Kane are mostly simplistic people with an extent of normal tendencies folks usually possess. I found Kane to be a bit too lame for my personal liking though. His constant sweet words to Jess seemed like an overachieving abundance to me and just too much at times. Jess’ character finds her strength throughout this journey and I was glad the book ended on that note. Overall it’s an interesting read.

Wow she once again wrote an excellent book. As always when I get notified of another book I dance around with glee. Now this book was of sadness and immature adults that act like their still kids. Jessica came back to be with her dying mother and was really given a hard time every time she had to go to the cops. The last was kinda different a nice man named Kane came to her rescue and together they solved the mystery while trying to stay alive.

I still liked the storyline. He was all in from the beginning.
I just like my heroes to be alphas.
Good read. Reads fast and easy.

Oh my gosh, let me tell you about Jess—she’s been through absolutely everything! Seventeen years ago, she made a huge mistake but came back home to Sleepy Hollow and just did her best to care for her mom before she passed away. Since then, she’s been dealing with side glances and whispers from everyone around her—like they’re judging her, you know?

One day, Kane, who’s just a total sweetheart and a cop, finds Jess sitting in her car outside the police station, crying her eyes out. He’s so confused because he just can’t understand why nobody believes her about all these weird break-ins at her place. To Kane, it’s his job to protect everyone, but with Jess, it honestly becomes way more personal—as he begins to care so much about her.

Things get even crazier when she gets kidnapped by someone nobody ever saw coming. Luckily, she’s got the awesome Blade and Arrow crew stepping in to save the day—these guys are just incredible! It’s a wild ride, but together, they’re fighting to get Jess back before it's too late.
I am so glad to have received an ARC copy of this the 6th installment of the Heroes of Sleepy Hollow series.

This book has it all! Angst, romance, steam, and plot twists I did not see coming! What a fantastic book! Jessica grew up in Sleepy Hollow and way back in High School, she made a bad decision. But the town will not let her forget it! Kane, a police officer, finds her crying in the police dept parking lot. He stops to find out why and can't believe that Jessica has been bullied by some of the towns people and it appears to be escalating.

I love that Kane and Jessica start dating and with the help of Kane, you get to read how much Jessica blossoms! It amazing as she grows in her confidence. And the love Kane showers her with is swoon worthy!

But danger still lurks as someone keeps terrorizing Jessica. Can Kane, Oliver, and the team from Blade and Arrow keep her safe? I highly recommend this fantastic book!

I was very fortunate to Beta read this book and am full of appreciation to Gia for allowing me to do so.
Jessicas hero is a book about a woman, who made an impulsive mistake as a teen which led to so much more blame and guilt being piled upon her. She has been ostracised by a certain section of townsfolk, and this has been way out of proportion for her actions. But worse, much worse, when she seeks help as she’s being targeted by both maliciousness and a stalker; even though she is frightened, and she is being both ignored and laughed at but the very people she should be able to call upon to help.

Enter cop Kane who, when he discovers what’s been happening takes her seriously, does not participate in any victim blame and goes all out to protect her and investigate.

As they navigate this mystery, with help from friends and colleagues, Jessica opens up more to Kane about her past. And when he clearly doesn’t shame or blame her, Jessica’s confidence grows, and she finds her fighting spirit!

As they navigate the mystery, with more twists and turns that we see at first glance, we watch as Jess finds she has a strong backbone which can and does withstand everything thrown at her.

I found emotion, sensual moments and drama interwoven beautifully here, and as Kane is a strong bulwark for Jess, she is a soft place to land for him when he needs it, so we see a beautiful partnership developing between the two, and this is smoothly developed throughout the story.
This is the sixth book in the series and each one has been wonderful, but this story of redemption and self-forgiveness has a very special place in my heart. I loved every single page of this book.

💭 When the story starts, you meet Jessica, and get a feel for what life has like since she returned to her hometown. She’s isolated and living a life that feels like it’s in the shadows. When she’s forced into Kane’s orbit (not just small moments they’ve had), he immediately shows up in ways she’s never experienced. I loved watching as Kane pulls her into the light. This has a suspense element that was interesting, and kept me guessing the whole time. There was some repetitiveness, especially with internal dialogue, and I caught myself skimming a bit and having to go back.

Overall, a solid read. A story of healing, forgiveness, finding your own strength, and letting others in, wrapped in a small town romantic suspense story.

Was kindly given an ARC, thoughts and opinions are mine.

I'm one of those diehard romantic suspense readers that can usually figure out who the killer or stalker is in the first few chapters I didn't guess right once and was quite surprised when reaching the end of the book and was still in the dark about the identity of the stalker well done Gia Cobie. Jessica's Hero has a nice balance of not only the action and suspense but the romance is sweet with just enough naughty to make it interesting. The book is full of the core group of friends that has been present through out the series creating that found family experience I love to read about. This is definitely one for that ever growing too be read stack.

Jessica is having some issues with things being moved inside her home and no one believes her because of something that happened when she was in high-school. Things are escalating and she really needs help. Kane is a cop and believes what she's telling him. He wants to be more than her protector even though she's just a couple years older. I love Gia Cobie for the way she pulls you into her stories like you're right there with them. I received a free copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Green flag alert! Kane ticks every box & when he unleashes his protective side, it absolutely melts you. His blend of vulnerability & alpha strength makes him utterly endearing. Jessica earns both your sympathy & frustration as she carries the burden of her mistake & the unfairness that follows. The danger keeps you on edge, the love leaves you in awe, & the familiar characters we’ve come to adore add depth & charm to a fabulous story.

Loved Jessica's Hero, really liked the law enforcement troupe. Kane is one of my favorite characters from this series. With Jessica’s Hero we’re already on book 6 in the Heroes of Sleepy Hollow series. I’m fortunate to be able to beta read this book for which I’d like to thank the author.

This story takes us on Jessica’s journey from being insecure, feeling hurt and judged for something she isn’t guilty of to being able to stand up for herself and knowing she is worthy of being loved and cared for.

Jessica is a senior lab technologist who’s came back to the little town of Sleepy Hollow to take care of her mother. She’s constantly being blamed and harassed by the towns people for something that happened years ago and for which she is only partly at fault. It left her feeling very insecure about herself and feeling like she doesn’t deserve love. When things start to happen she isn’t being taken seriously until Kane, whom she’s been infatuated with ever since meeting him.

Kane is a cop in Sleepy Hollow, he’s definitely noticed Jessica and has been wanting to get to know her better ever since meeting her. While spending time together on dates, he finds out she hasn’t been taken seriously about the petty crimes happening to her, even right out being refused to help so he vows to help her find out who’s responsible.

The first part of the book concentrates heavily on the romance between Jessica and Kane. It’s lovely to see how protective Kane is, how he does everything in his power to show her that she’s worth everything to him. He shows her with little things how he feels. Jessica is really sweet, but sometimes her insecurity got to be a bit much for me. It was great to see her finally standing up for herself.

Things go pretty slow until bang! The suspense part came well into the second half of the book with a huge surprise. I never saw that one coming, I have to admit I got a bit confused there but it only made me more invested into the story.

Overall this was yet another great entry in this wonderful series! If you love romance with overprotective heroes and damsels in distress than Jessica’s Hero is the right story for you!

Thank you for giving me the chance to receive an ARC of this book

Good:
Take-charge FMC: Traumatised heroine, but she also saves herself and doesn't wait for rescue. Our FL needs support, care, and some love, but she is no damsel in distress.
Different take: Usually, in the small-town trope, people are shown as gossipy and meddlesome but mean good in the end, but in this book, it shows how they can be judgmental and downright cruel at times, which was refreshing.

Bad
Generic: Nothing is new; it feels like the same old story with no new elements or distinguishing factor that sets the story apart.
Lacks diversity: I stand by the belief, it's better not to write a diverse character than to misrepresent. However, there are not even side characters who represent BIPOC or LGBTQIA+ community, which is a personal peeve of mine

All in all, average read

Kane and Jessica

This is such a great book! Gia Cobie has done an amazing job weaving together Kane and Jessica's story. Kane and Jessica have been secretly admiring each other from afar. That changes when he finds Jessica crying in her car at the police station. Just finishing his shift, Kane asked her what had happened. She tells him, and from that moment, he promised himself he would do whatever it takes to protect her. When Jessica was a teenager, she made a mistake, and it seems no one in Sleepy Hollow will let her forget it. She's positive she has a stalker, and no one will believe her, except Kane. Through everything, Kane is by her side. Feelings develop, and before you know it, they are in love. They are put through the proverbial ringer as they fight together to get the HEA they deserve. Get this book ASAP and find out what happens next. You won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers.

This one has a bombshell twist!

Jessica is traumatized by her past. And the people of Sleepy Hollow won’t let her forget the mistakes she made 17 years ago. When the threats get to be too much she goes to the police station for help.

Kane’s a police officer in Sleepy Hollow. When he finds Jessica alone in her car crying at the station. He jumps in with both feet. One he will protect her with his life and Two he’s waited for his chance to get to know Jess. He’s had a thing for her for a while. But the more Kane and his B and A friends dig the bigger the mystery becomes and the harder Kane falls for Jess. Shes becoming is everything.

Just when he lets his guard down Jess disappears from a threat no one saw coming! Can he save her in time?

When the past has invisible chains on the present it needs a special someone to break them. Enter Kane. When trouble finds Jess its Kane who shows her she is not alone and the interest they both shared hidden ignite.

With the help of their friends they keep Jess safe and show her the past mistakes are that in the past.

Fast pacing, action packed that covers past mistakes and the effects on the present and that bad guys come in all shapes and forms but friendship and love gives us strength to conquer it all.

1st read: Beta read.

2nd read:

My new favourite in this fantastic series! Kane is such a swoony hero. He picks Jess up when she’s down, he helps her confidence, he inspires her to stand up for herself, and he treats her like a queen. Jess has a complicated history. As a teenage girl in high school, she made a mistake because of her own insecurities, and it’s followed her all the way to her mid-thirties. I really felt for her, but I also really respect that it was a pretty big mistake and a crappy thing to have done, but the worst part of it had nothing to do with her or her choices.

There’s a lot of twists in this one. I didn’t expect who was behind the harassment, I certainly didn’t expect what happened to the harasser, and I really didn’t expect that to end up with Jess needing to be saved. The saving was epic to read about though. And definitely makes me want Gia to write a romantic thriller or something of the like.

Another excellent Gia Cobie book, but what else is there to expect? This is an author at the top of her game, and I’m so excited to see where this series goes next.

Thank you Gia Cobie for the ARC. This review is voluntary and honest.

Affinity Star read!!!!!! 💫
Loved this book!!!!
It is one of my favorites for the year
I could not put this book down.
First I want to say thank you to Gia Cobie for giving me this book to read and review.
Loved that Nora was being good friends with Jessica.
Loved the romance between Kane and Jessica!!!!
I also loved how protective Kane was over Jessica.
She made a mistake when she was younger but she didn't deserve to have people in her town still mess with her. And I didn't like the people who messed with her and made her unsave in her town.
Jessica had no idea how strong she really was and despite the challenges, Jessica never gave up, even when she felt like she had. She remained kind and considerate to others.
I am glad Thea forgive Jessica for what happened when they were younger and now they are becoming friends again. I also liked Oliver Kane's partner and how he helped protect Jessica too.
I also didn't like her ex-boyfriend Brian and what he did to her when they were together.
Loved that the members of Blade and Arrow and their other friends helped protect Jessica and also helped find her at the end of the book. I also loved all the things Kane did for Jessica including planning a birthday party for her and also got her mom's glass figure fixed
I didn't liked what the bad guys did to her in this book but I am glad they got taking care of at the end of this book. I was so happy when Kane and their other friends rescued Jessica and I am glad they got an happy ending together. This book has so many twists and turns and I loved the thrilling and suspense in this book. And I fell in love with Jessica and Kane. I also enjoyed enjoyed reading more of the past couples from the series. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

As the sixth book in the "Heroes of Sleepy Hollow" series, "Jessica’s Hero" captured my attention immediately. Jessica strongly reminded me of my own self. She does not recognize her real power. Numerous people in her community won’t allow her to move past her initial error as a young woman. Unfortunately, small towns often face this type of situation. Life in a small town can be wonderful, but for those who make mistakes, it can also be suffering.

In spite of the difficulties, Jessica persevered, even when she sensed she had not. She stayed compassionate and thoughtful towards others, capturing the interest of Kane, a younger officer. Upon observing Jessica's need for assistance and recognizing that his colleagues were unwilling to help, Kane was resolved to aid her. He also sought the assistance of his friends. With the encouragement and backing of Kane and her small circle of friends, Jessica ultimately found the confidence she needed to take back her strength and assert herself, realizing that a single error does not determine her future. This newfound power also allowed her to face the individual who had been intimidating her, even when no one else took her seriously.

This book will hold your attention from the beginning to the end. It is packed with intrigue, tension, and a significant twist that I certainly did not see coming. It's impossible not to fall in love with Jessica and Kane because they are wonderful characters. Their gradual escalation creates the perfect mix, leading to intensely passionate moments when they finally unite, along with a stronger, more meaningful connection. After years of feeling neglected and isolated, Kane's caring nature towards Jessica is charming.
