His style from his first book, The Christmas Box, used quotes from fictitious diaries to highlight idea's or themes. Someone told him at a book signing that the person that wrote the diaries was a better writer than he was, so he stated writing diaries.
When Richard Paul Evans wrote the #1 best-seller, The Christmas Box, he never intended on becoming an internationally known author. His quiet story of parental love and the true meaning of Christmas made history when it became simultaneously the #1 hardcover and paperback book in the nation. Since then, more than eight million copies of The Christmas Box have been printed. He has since written eleven consecutive New York Times bestsellers. He is one the few authors in history to have hit both the fiction and non-fiction bestseller lists. He has won several awards for his books including the 1998 American Mothers Book Award, two first place Storytelling World Awards, and the 2005 Romantic Times Best Women Novel of the Year Award. His books have been translated into more than 22 languages and several have been international best sellers.
I did not realize this book was published until recently. I denoted some quotes that resonated with me and that I will share. As much as I have enjoyed his books, these excerpts were more philosophical than I recall and it has been quite some time since I read the books mentioned in this one. I guess I prefer his stories.
I downloaded it free off his website. And by the way I emailed him and he wrote back the next day. That's pretty cool.
You don't have to read the books to feel the quotes he pulled from them. And every quote pulls a feeling you can relate or contemplate on regardless of whether you know his stories to refer to. I think he's a noble, wise man. Go Richard Paul Evans!!!
