When the notorious Dick Turpin is hanged, Charlie Feather is watching and learning. At just fourteen years of age, Charley, an apprentice highwayman, knows that betrayal is common and that a short, brutal life may come to a sudden end on the steps of the gallows. Abandoned at birth, shunted from one "foster mother" to another, streetwise Charley trusts no one—especially when there are dark secrets to keep.
I read this book the first time when I was 8 and I loved it. Even though I am normally not a fan of reading a book again or watching a film a second time I re-read this great book - twice. It tells the story of a brave girl that breaks all prejudices. I really recommend it, it's for every age.
I thought Charley was an amazing book. I have read it and re-read it because I loved it so much. It has great twists and I would recommend it to everyone.
