Everyone wants to be a leader. God made us to influence others for His Kingdom, and the fulfillment of our own destiny is tied to our ability to help others achieve their dreams. But leading others is challenging and often frustrating. The Accent of Leadership by Pastor Steve Kelly illuminates foundational principles learned through his life of ministry and church leadership. With common sense teaching and practical application of God's Word, Pastor Steve helps each person realize that before leading others, we must lead ourselves. His examination and explanation of ten hallmarks of leadership will help you not only comprehend your potential for self-leadership, but it will also guide you as you lead others.
To be fair, I think this was a little over my head for a newbie Christian. Steve Kelly came to our church and I loved his sermons, so purchased the book.
I found the book interesting, especially the chapter about seeking favour. I just remember being a bit offended by some of it (I'm writing this review a month later).... about having standards of excellence.
This book has lots of great illustrations. It isn't deep theologically, but very practical (which I like). The book is written to people in lead positions inside the church. Don't feel as though a general person would get as much from it. However, it is a good book and very well written.
Passable book on leadership. Not sure all the biblical references are necessary, as I’ve known many great leaders who are not Christians. You don’t have to be a Christian to be a great leader.
