Six years ago, Wren Dawson’s life unexpectedly changed forever. Now, at twenty-four, she’s trying her best to put herself first, but that’s never been easy. Every extra bit of money she earns is going toward her dream of opening camps for individuals with traumatic brain injuries. A dream that means a lot to her and her family. So, when her apartment complex is sold, and she’s left scrambling to find an affordable place to live, her friends suggest she move in with the golden retriever playboy of their friend group—Tanner Mitchell. There’s just one she finds him insufferable, but he might be her only option.
Torn between family obligations and following his heart, Tanner Mitchell’s lifelong insecurities are starting to bubble to the surface. At thirty, he’s mastered the art of deflecting from his feelings. If you don’t let people get too close, you can never disappoint them. Instead of settling down like his friends, he’s the life of the party and a bit of a playboy, easily grabbing the attention of every woman in the room. Well, every woman except for Wren Dawson—the gorgeous redhead he hasn’t stopped thinking about since he first laid eyes on her.
Now, she’s occupying his spare bedroom and his every thought, and he’s trying his best not to rec her plans.

First time reading Jess and I loved it. When You Rec’d My Plans is a cute SLOW burn, roommates to lovers and no second act breakup! Wren and Tanner really bring out the best in each other. Super sweet with a HEA.
I had so much fun reading this book. It gave me everything I wanted, banter, emotion, romance, and spice. I really loved Tanner and Wren together. Tanner was that charming guy with a soft heart, and Wren was strong, loyal, and always thinking of others before herself. Their chemistry felt real, and I enjoyed how they teased and supported each other. The way the story mixed serious topics with humor was done really well. I also appreciated how the author gave attention to Wren’s work and family situation, it felt respectful and personal. Even the side characters added so much warmth to the story. I smiled a lot and sometimes even got emotional. For me, this was a 5 read without doubt. Thank you so much to the author and Luna Literary PR for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free, and I'm leaving an honest review.
I absolutely love this series and these characters. We meet Tanner and Wren in the first two books. Tanner is a flirty playboy and Wren is a recreational therapist working with Poppy, Lacey and the other girls. Wren has always thought Tanner is just a player and not serious about anything. Ever since he first saw Wren, Tanner has wanted only her but doesn't feel worthy. His family, especially his dad and brother, believe he's not serious about anything especially the family business. When Wren needs a place to stay, she finally decides to move in with Tanner for a few months. They grow closer and eventually realize they are becoming not just best friends but more. Wren helps him navigate his job at the family business and Tanner supports her dreams of opening a camp for people with brain injuries.
I read this book in one sitting! It was exactly what my hopeless romantic heart needed. It was a fun, yet deep relationship. You follow Wren, a recreational therapist, and Tanner, who is continuing in the family business. They both have their insecurities and their flaws. It was beautiful seeing them both support one another. And when they finally let themselves feel... It was amazing! I enjoyed the story and the surrounding characters. I love being able to see more from the previous couples
I ADORED the first two books in the series, and no surprise here, I ADORED this one as well. I continue to fall more in love with the characters, friend group, and MMCs with each new book. When You Rec’d My Plans is the third book in the Romance Rehab series. It follows Wren Dawson and Tanner Mitchell as they navigate a situation that brings them into close proximity. This book was such a fun and adorable read. It had me cracking up and tugging at my heart strings at the same time. The pacing was good. Romance was more of a slow burn. It was soooo worth the wait!!! Like HOT DAMN ya’ll it had me sweatiing! 🔥 I loved everything about it! The characters, the friend group, Dolly, and especially Wren and Tanner!
Wren and Tanner may seem like an unlikely pair, but you might be surprised at how well they fit together. I adored seeing them going from acquantences to more than either of them expected. They shared so many sweet moments that had my heart melting for them. One moment, I’m in my feels and the next I’m laughing out loud at the hilarious situations they get into. Not just the MCs, but their friend group as a whole. Jess added a few easter eggs and nods to the previous books, which was so fun to read.
At this point, I know I will swoon and fall in love with any men Jess Christine creates. They keep getting better and better. I loved Logan and Jace. But Tanner might have won over my damn heart. Ya’ll this man had me swooning so freaking hard, it’s not even funny. He is hilarious, thoughtful, smart, cooks, makes coffee, AND he loves Marvel! 🔥 Watch, I will probably say the same for the MMCs in Book 4 and 5. LOL
NOTE: This is an interconnected standalone series. While they can be read in any order, they tie in together. I recommend reading book 1, When You Had Me Speechless, and book 2 When You Had Me Adapting to experience the story and characters to the fullest.
Thank you to Jess Christine for the opportunity to read the WYRMP eARC and be a part of the Traveling ARC Book Tour, The Tortured ARC Readers. 🧡
ARC BOOK REVIEW 📖: WHEN YOU REC’D MY PLANS by Jess Christine
Rating: 5⭐️/5 Format: ebook Happy pub day!
“She’s his dream girl. He’s her last resort.”
Thoughts: I have been lucky to have been a part of Jess’ ARC team for the first two romance rehab books and after reading book 2 of the series, When You Had Me Adapting, I fell in love with Tanner. I hoped he would get his own storyline and now that it’s here, I was not disappointed! I cannot begin to explain how much you’re going to love this golden retriever MMC! His banter with Wren, his personality, and love of Marvel are just a few highlights. I have to admit, he had me swooning at multiple points in this book. Jess seriously knows what she’s doing with her mmc’s but also with this friend group. I’m already looking forward to her next one!
Read if you love: Forced proximity He falls first Golden retriever mmc Slow burn “You’re incredible” 😍🫠
Favorite Quote: “Because the minute I saw you, I only wanted you, and no one else compared.”
Thank you Jess for sending me your ARC in exchange for my honest review! When You Rec’d My Plans is book 3 in the Romance Rehab series.
This book is exactly as Jess Christine describes her books. Very much cotton candy romance and very much smutty. lol. Wren and Tanner were not a couple that was expected to happen and when it did it was a cute read. Tanner was a former playboy who fell hard and fast for Wren. I loved reading how much he cared for her and her family. He supported her in every way and whatever was important to her, was important to him. Wren didn't expect to fall for Tanner but when she did, her fierce faith and protection of him made me love her to death. Cute. Cotton Candy. Then there's the smut. Ooooweee when the smut kicked in and the kinks were activated it was a fun time, I'll tell ya.
Jess Christine knocks it out of the park again with her third book in her Romance Rehab series. I love that Tanner is head over heels for Wren first even though she is attracted to him but keeping her distance and he is willing to spend any time at all with her even if it’s just as a roommate and friend. Everything about their relationship was swoony and cute and I appreciated that there was plenty of spice. I also loved the found family in this book and I’ve looked forward to reading about all of the characters in each new book in the series. Thank you to author Jess Christine and Kalie Gerwig of Good Girl Author Services for the opportunity to read this early!
Jess Christine has done it again. I just love this friend group so much and I want more and more every time. I think Wren and Tanner might be my favorite story yet! The spice this book had me blushing so hard, but I would absolutely enjoy more of this in the books to come. I love the dynamic of the characters each book and they just keep getting better. Wren and Tanner are 12/10 spicy and I’m here for it! This has me wanting to take my husband to a carnival, escape room, art classes and pickleball. So many feel good vibes. Ugh love this series.
I’ve been patiently waiting for Wren & Tanner’s story for the last 2 Rehab books… watching these two FINALLY fall in love was exactly what my lovesick heart needed. Tanner is such a golden retriever that made it a point to take his time gaining Wren’s trust and friendship. Wren trying to stay away from Tanner finally realized that Tanner isn’t this playboy she assumed he was. She opened her heart and soon realized Tanner was exactly who she needed to fall back in love with love. Can’t wait to see what Gray’s story leads us to!
I absolutely enjoyed this book! I was hooked from the beginning. this is the third book to the Romantic Rehab series and it can definitely be read as a standalone.
I remember reading the second book and I really loved that one as well, so when I was sent THIS one, I was so excited!! I love reading stories about other characters in series.
Wren and Tanner were so cute together!! I loved the chemistry they had
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I love the rest of the RR series, and I was so excited for Tanner & Wren. I was a little disappointed in how immature Tanner was, and to be honest I expected more growth from him. I adored Wren though. I am however so happy that Tanner decided to go with the path he did!!!
ARC review- Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book!
I really enjoyed Wren and Tanner’s story. The story was fast paced, it was a quick read, it had a good amount of spice, and overall was an easy, pleasant read. I love that this series can be read each as a standalone, but reading it as a series keeps you really intertwined with the characters/their friend group. I highly recommend reading this series ☺️
Tropes: 🧇 Slow burn 🧇 Roommates to lovers 🧇 Golden retriever MMC 🧇 Thor-like man 🧇 Found family 🧇 TBI representation 💚 🧇 Forced proximity 🧇 Reformed playboy 🧇 Care taking 🧇 He remembers the little things 🧇 Grand gestures
Thank you so much for this ARC!
I was so excited for Tanner’s story, and Jess DELIVERED! This slow burn roommates to lovers romantic comedy was a perfect edition to the Romance Rehab universe!
Jess always does a great job of creating relatable characters with dynamic growth throughout the story, and I truly fell in love with both Wren and Tanner by the end. Tanner’s hidden cinnamon roll nature with the people he cares about captured my heart quickly. His relationship with Wren was beautiful to watch evolve throughout the story, and his relationship with his family brought a nice depth to his character. His caretaking? Swoon worthy. His flirting skills? Top tier. His obsession with his wild girl? Never ending. I absolutely ADORED Tanner, and I’m so happy we finally got to know him on such a deep level in his story.
As an SLP myself, I absolutely loved the AAC and TBI representation. It was beautifully portrayed and I may have teared up during Tanner’s grand gestures and interactions with Wren’s brother 🥹
I truly did love this story, and I can’t wait to see where this friend group goes next in the fourth novel! The story was so wholesome and had a perfect balance between romance, comedic scenes (the missing TV remote 😅, the completely platonic roommate waffles, etc.), and heartfelt emotional moments.
When You Rec’d My Plans by Jess Christine is OUT NOW! Please go support an amazing indie author (and fellow SLP) on her newest release!
I was fortunate enough to receive an eARC of When Your Rec’d My Plans. This is the 3rd book in the Romance Rehab Series and while you don’t have to read the first two, I recommend it as it enhances the storytelling. I enjoyed this one! Jess Christine’s books are quick and easy reads. The found family throughout this book was one of my favorite parts. I also liked how the TBI representation was handled. If you are looking for a quick, spicy, forced proximity rom-com, give this one a try!
I am not at all ashamed at how quick I inhaled this book. It was THAT good!
When you Rec’d My Plans is the beautiful third installment to the Romance Rehab series but can easily be read as a standalone. However, in my personal opinion, I recommend reading each book so you can have a more personal relationship with each character and understand the friendship dynamic.
The story is a hilarious rom-com with a spicy side of roommates to lovers dynamic. Tanner, our reformed playboy and golden retriever MMC offers up his home to the girl he’s had it so down bad for months. Insert Wren, our lovable and sometimes too giving recreational therapist.
I absolutely adored Tanner. He’s beyond flirtatious, a quiet nerd, and so sweet but oh so filthy. Tanner suffers from middle child syndrome and living in his brother’s shadow - all he’s ever wanted was his father’s acceptance and to make him proud. Determined to prove himself reliable, he stands up to the plate to fulfill his family’s legacy.
Sweet Wren is our tough as nails Recreational Therapist and fellow romance reader (the bat boys reference, are you kidding me?! IYKYK). She’s stubborn, sassy, and so giving to her friends and family. With her many dreams and aspirations, she has one desire to start up her own camp in honor of her brother who although survived, suffered a traumatic brain injury in high school that shifted the family dynamic up a bit. But ever the supportive daughter and sister, she’s constantly there to help pick up the pieces and move any mountain to make the lives of the people around her easier.
I thought I was hooked with Jess’ previous books, but Wren and Tanner have me in a chokehold. Talk about fated mates 🤭 like calls to like, and they equally balance each other’s personalities perfectly. From friends to roomies to lovers, they made the best of a sticky situation when Wren was forced out of her apartment complex. • Favorite spicy scene❤️🔥
Tanner: “Do you want me to wreck you, pretty girl?” Wren: “Desperately.” Tanner: “Then open.”
Favorite quote 💖
Wren: “I’m happy too, T. I had this plan, this idea I was comfortable with, and you completely blindsided me and wrecked the whole damn thing, in the best way.” • With a found family and forced proximity trope, you need this on your TBR. Be ready for playful banter, competitive roomie nights, and fair rides coming your way on June. 26th 🐕 🐆
Jess Christine has quickly become a must read author for me. I’ve truly enjoyed the two previous books in her Romance Rehab series but this book is my absolute favorite. I received an advanced review copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.
When You Rec’d My Plans is a spicy romantic comedy full of humor, emotions, and all the angst of a roommates to lovers story. When Wren’s apartment building is sold and she has to find a new place to live, her friends encourage her to move in with Tanner, the “playboy” of their friend group. After trying everything else, she reluctantly agrees and the sparks start flying almost immediately. One of the strengths of Christine’s writing is her ability to create fully developed characters with a passion for life and determination to succeed on their own terms. Wren is focused on creating a camp for individuals with traumatic brain injuries as a way to honor her brother who was injured in a freak accident. Tanner is trying desperately to gain approval from his father which he so easily showers on Tanner’s brother and mistakenly believes the best way to do so is by devoting everything he has to the family business. As Wren and Tanner’s relationship develops, Christine takes readers along on the emotional pull between the two characters and leaves us so invested in these characters that we can’t help but squeal a little when they finally confess their feelings to one another. While this book can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the other two books in the series first to avoid spoiling life updates for the other characters.
I’m a romance reader who loves witty banter between the main characters and Christine hits it out of the park in this book. Wren and Tanner are funny, quirky, and lovable. Another of my favorite Christine features is her attention to detail for the rehabilitation work the characters do. As someone with a younger brother with brain damage, I knew exactly what utensils and adaptive cup Wren’s brother was using because they were the same tools provided for my brother to make eating and drinking easier for him to manage. Chrisitine takes the time to research the details so her characters are as authentic as possible and as a result, her entire series honors the important work that all types of therapists do.
If you love a golden retriever MMC, and a feisty FMC, this love story is for you! This one deserves all the stars!!!!
When You Rec’d My Plans was a hilarious, emotional, sweet, and spicy read that I really enjoyed 🧡 I loved the fact that this book embraced the heavier emotional side of things, and that the characters healed together. Wren and Tanner both had so much depth, not to mention chemistry! I loved their inner thoughts and little awkward moments—they made me giggle a lot 🤭 Their tension and the slow burn was kiiiiilling me, but holy moly… that slow burn turned into an inferno! 🔥
Wren had me giggling so much with her inner thoughts and actions, and I just loved her character 💚 She is incredibly strong, determined, caring, and a bit stubborn (in a good way). The dream that she’s working towards is very special to her and so meaningful, but when her life takes a bad turn she ends up being Tanner’s roommate. She finds out they’re more similar than she thinks, and her opinions start to change about him. The way she handles her building feelings for him and her inner thoughts had me laughing, but there was no denying the chemistry that was building between them, and I loved watching her feelings develop! It was especially cute that she had a growing post-it note collection 🧡
Tanner is so, so sweet and caring, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a side to him that takes control and will make you sweat 🥵 When Wren moves in, the feelings he already had for her amplify their tension so much you can feel it! I loved that their talks felt like they were connecting on a deeper level, and that they weren’t afraid to be vulnerable around each other, instead finding strength 💚 Tanner’s goofy side was exactly that — goofy! — and it made for a really enjoyable, funny read. He also has a swoon worthy side to him, which is impossible not to love! The way he views and thinks of Wren melts my heart, and I loved his inner thoughts about her 🥹
This book has really funny and naturally flowing banter between the main characters, who have tense & sizzling chemistry 🔥 The slow burn is so worth the wait, and I loved seeing the growth in both their relationship and within themselves. I thought this was a very good read that had raw emotions and healing, while also having hilarious banter, cute, awkward moments, and both heartwarming, and heart racing 😉, moments 🧡
ARC Review- I give this a 3.75 ⭐️. I was super excited for Wren and Tanner’s book, but I found myself zoning in and out of it. There were many amazing things and moments, but I also had a harder time finishing it than I’d like to. Starting off with the things I liked, I loved that Tanner in the beginning reminded me of Void by the Neighbourhood– he needed to fill the void and needed to feel something ya know. There are moments when I loved Wren as a fmc. She’s such a strong female lead, and I just love how strong she is despite of everything she went through. And the traumatic brain injury awareness? I love it so much!! And two scenes that had me giggling and kicking my feet were the breakfast for dinner scene and the fair games. Okay, first of all, the breakfast for dinner scene was chef’s kiss because I need a man that’s obsessed with me without dating me. WHAT DO YOU MEAN TANNER KNOWS HE CANT HAVE WREN YET HE STILL ASKS HIS FRIENDS FOR THEIR OPINION TO WIN HER OVER??? I need this obsession (unrealistic but hey a girl can dream.) And the fair games made me feel so nostalgic and just ugh like I was there with them.
What prevented this from being a five-star read was that I wish we had a prologue for Tanner as well. We had one for Wren which I loved because we had her backstory. And I did say that I liked Wren’s character, but something that pissed me off about her character was how in the beginning, she was such a type b person. She kept putting off finding a new place to move out as if that isn’t important. Like procrastination, but like to what extent??? Something else that threw me off was that this is a plot driven book. I always saw people saying stuff like it was character driven or plot based, and I never really saw it until this book. Some parts felt forced and rushed while others were slower. It hit the slow burn mark, but at what cost. Lastly, the animal mural is a cute idea and it ties the story together but realistically… huh… Anyways, I think it was just an issue with me staying engaged with some parts of the book.
Book #3 in the Romance Rehab series was PERFECTION and I think that Wren and Tanner are my new fave couple!
I could not get over how perfectly their frenemies-to-lovers played out. And I loved that when some authors would have written in a breakup scene, Jess wrote it showing how a healthy relationship could play out. Providing Wren the support and understanding that she so desperately needed.
If you’ve been following along with Jess’s Romance Rehab series, we have met Wren and Tanner but get to see a completely different side of Tanner. Once the hotshot playboy, who never wanted a relationship or wasted time trying to get to know anyone, is now headover heels for Wren.
After suffering a freak accident that left him in a wheelchair, Wren is determined to help provide camp opportunities to people like her brother and wants to be able to provide some reprieve for parents, like hers, who are taking care of family members with TBIs.Her apartment may not have been the most chic but it got the job done and was in her price range. When her building went up for sale, the tenants were told that they would be able to keep their current lease. Thinking she was in the clear, she was shocked to find out that she would need to find a new place to live and fast!
The company Tanner works for, happened to be the company that bought out Wren’s buiding, essentially making her homeless. Feeling guilty about not only making her homeless but also because it is a soul crushing job that he doesn’t want to be at, trying to both win over Wren and maeup for the issues he caused, Tanner offers Wren to move in as his roommate to save money until she can find a better place to live.
One thing after another, the universe tries to pull Wren and Tanner together until they give into the pull that has them drawn to each other. Full of laughs, kicking your feet with how adorable and swoonworthy they both are, you will not be able to put down When You Rec’d My Plans. The perfect beach read to kick off summer or enjoy on your next vacation!
The delightful third installment in the Romance Rehab series, When You Received My Plans, is a stand-alone novel as well. I believe you should read every book to understand each character more deeply and grasp the dynamics of friendship.
Featuring a zesty blend of roommates turning into lovers, the storyline is a comedic love story. Our golden retriever and remorseful ladies' man Tanner invites the girl he's admired for months to his home. Introducing Wren, our charming and possibly excessively kind recreational therapist.
Tanner represents the ideal golden retriever main character: charming, determined, and immediately loyal to Wren. Honestly? Similarly. Wren's severe brain injury is portrayed with such elegance and sincerity that I was left in awe. She is courageous, exceptionally smart, and strongly protective of those she cares for, especially her brother. Jess offers us richness—a sincere, heartfelt family atmosphere and beautiful portrayal—along with heat and romance (and wow, the heat is incredible).
While we appreciate Wren's tough approach towards Tanner, their chemistry is clear right from the first page. The mockery? Keen, playful, and captivating. The pressure? Awfully great. And when do they finally concede? I needed to set the book aside and cool myself off, so to speak.
I believe Jess Christine can't make any mistakes! Every tale in her novels is infused with immense heart and spirit, yet she still evokes strong emotions in me. I couldn't help but laugh, cry, and swoon over this book! What an author, what a novel, what personas! The book and the series are both vital! This group of friends will capture your heart, and you'll yearn to partake in their enjoyment!
This connection between roommates and partners is delightful and enticingly passionate! I read this book from beginning to end, and I shed tears multiple times while going through the final version—and I don't often cry when reading!
I found myself laughing frequently while reading this book, and certain moments left me utterly speechless—it was impeccable!
Jess Christine delivers absolute rom-com gold in When You Rec’d My Plans. This story had me giggling, blushing, tearing up, and clutching the book to my chest like it was my emotional support romance.
Tanner is everything a golden retriever MC should be—charming, persistent, and utterly obsessed with Wren from the jump. And honestly? Same. Wren is strong, whip-smart, and deeply protective of the people she loves, especially her brother, whose traumatic brain injury is portrayed with such grace and authenticity it left me misty-eyed. Jess doesn’t just give us spice and swoon (and wow, the spice is on fire); she gives us depth—a realistic, heartfelt family dynamic and beautiful representation.
Wren gives Tanner a hard time (and we love her for it), but their chemistry crackles from page one. The banter? Flirty, sharp, and addictive. The tension? Torturously good. And when they finally give in? Let’s just say I had to set the book down and fan myself.
What truly sets this book apart is the found family—the warm, chaotic, hilarious web of friends and chosen bonds that wrap around Wren and Tanner as their story unfolds. It’s messy, beautiful, and exactly the kind of love story that feels like home.
If you’re craving: 🔥 relentless golden retriever energy 🧡 a fiercely loyal heroine with heart and bite 👨👩👧 authentic family rep (TBI storyline = stunningly well done) 🎉 found family antics that make you want to dive into the friend group 🌶️ spicy scenes that leave you breathless…
Then this book is your next obsession. Jess Christine didn’t just write a romance—she wrote a love story that feels like it chose you.
When You Rec’d My Plans was my first book by Jesse Christine, and it won’t be my last! Even though it’s the third in the Romance Rehab series, it works beautifully as a standalone. The side characters feel fleshed out enough that you don't feel lost, just curious to learn more about their stories.
Wren completely won me over as a heroine. Her motivation to open camps for traumatic brain injury survivors was both moving and personal (as an older sister, this hit home for me). Tanner truly embodied the golden retriever energy - playful, sweet, and a little clueless at times (the tampon scene had me cackling!) - while his playboy persona was clearly a shield for deeper insecurities rooted in his family history (As a parent, I could never!). Watching him open up and choose his own happiness was incredibly rewarding.
The slow burn here is real (spice doesn’t really kick in until around 60%), but the payoff makes it worth every teasing moment. The forced proximity trope — complete with a “one bed” situation — was so well done, and there were plenty of funny, heartwarming roommate moments along the way. Despite tackling heavier themes around trauma and family pressure, the tone remains lighthearted (this is a rom-com after all), sensitive, and even educational at times. There were scenes that made me literally LOL!
I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who loves the forced proximity / roommates-to-lovers trope with a golden retriever MMC and a delicious slow burn! The found family dynamics here were golden!
A sweet, spicy, and genuinely fun read. 5 stars from me!
📚 Book Review: When You Rec’d My Plans by Jess Christine Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️½
Tropes & Themes:
Friends to Lovers Slow Burn No Second Act Breakup (🙌) Main Characters: Wren & Tanner
Jess Christine does it again! I first fell in love with her writing in When You Had Me Adapting, and When You Rec’d My Plans absolutely deserves a glowing five stars.
I’ll be honest—at first, I struggled to connect with Tanner. For someone in his 30s, he came off as immature and a bit frustrating. I was nervous about how that would affect my enjoyment of the book. But I’m so glad I stuck with it, because Tanner’s character arc is beautifully done. Jess Christine peels back the layers to reveal a man who’s not only deeply human but also incredibly relatable. He’s someone who craves love, acceptance, and respect from his family—things he’s never truly received. Watching him come to terms with that and learn to believe in himself was powerful. And the fact that he sought professional help? Absolute perfection.
Then there’s Wren—she is my girl. She’s the epitome of the selfless daughter, putting her own dreams on hold to support her parents and care for her disabled brother. Her strength and unwavering support for Tanner made her such a lovable character. Watching their relationship evolve from acquaintances to roommates, to best friends, and finally to lovers was heartwarming and beautifully paced.
Overall, I loved this book. It’s emotional, romantic, and full of growth. I can’t wait to see what’s next in the series!
This book hit me right in the chest! Jess Christine delivers a rom-com that’s not just spicy and hilarious (and oh, it is both), but also deeply thoughtful. Wren and Tanner’s story unfolds with the kind of emotional depth that sneaks up on you between the banter and blush-worthy tension. Wren’s mission to build a camp in honor of her brother is tender and powerful, and the detail Jess brings to the rehabilitation side of things is no accident...it’s research, respect, and reality. As someone who’s seen that world up close, those moments felt personal. Seen. Important. And Tanner... Oh, honey. If you wrote him off in the earlier books, you’re gonna need to reassess fast. I’ve been curious about him since book one, and let me tell you, his past performances were flukes 😘. He has leveled up in every way: This man is a full-on cinnamon roll with just enough golden retriever energy to ruin you for other book boyfriends. He’s funny, thoughtful, and unexpectedly vulnerable Somewhere between the coffee, the cooking, and the sticky notes...I fell hard. Jess said, “Oh, you thought Logan and Jace were the MMC's to beat, think again." and then dropped the mic! Yes, you can read this as a standalone. But you shouldn’t. Books 1 (When You Left Me Speechless) and 2 (When You Had Me Adapting) make this one even sweeter and show just how far Tanner has come. His growth is part of the magic. This story had me laughing one minute, tearing up the next, and clutching my Kindle with heart eyes the entire time.
Wren has found herself rooming with Tanner, much to her dismay, but it's a means to an end and needs must. What she doesn't know, is that Tanner was struck by Cupid's arrow the day he met her and has since had eyes for no-one else. Now, he has the opportunity to have his dream girl under his roof every single day and he's not going to waste the opportunity.
The friendship that builds between these two is one of mutual support, fun and special little touches. The more time that passes, the more Tanner completely surpasses any preconceived notions Wren had of him in the best of ways! He continues to fall hard and fast but convinces himself she is way out of his league and is terrified to make a move.
There are some absolutely adorable moments and some particular hilarity that had me roaring with laughter at the mental picture it conjured! Tanner is proof that there are real stand up, good guys out there but you're gonna have to read the story to find out why!
Despite being book 3 in the series, it has totally be written to read as a standalone and spoilers from previous stories is minimal. I loved it that much that I instantly went and downloaded the first two books in the series to read those too and can't wait for the next installment to be released.
This was a real fun 5⭐ read for me and made a refreshing change. As a carer myself, the possibilities featured in this story felt hugely reassuring whether it's fiction or not. It's a slow burn but wow!, when the spice hits it's hot!! 🔥
i love me a good book with a tbi rep 🥹 you get an amazing representation of what it is to live with someone that has tbi. the fact that it was done so beautifully and i could relate to some of it made everything so much better while reading this. i had so much fun reading this and i wouldn’t change a thing! you get bantering, so much emotion and finally some romance because the tension between these two was INSANE 🫣
wren and tanner are complete opposites but wow do they make the best pair 😭 watching them grow together, both with each other and individually pulled at my heart strings 🥹 they really get you to feel all their emotions then drag you in to laugh with them! i love me a good book mixed every emotion you can think of! this is a bit of a slow burn as they start as roommates THEN eventually come to the conclusion that they are in love with each other 🤣 you get the perfect to build up to all the spice scenes without feeling like they’re too rushed.
this is book a interconnected series but can be read as standalones! i do recommend reading in order as they do all tie to each other. this is out NOW!! READ IT DEVOUR IT AND I HOPE YOU ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I DID 🧡 thank you jess for the opportunity to continue to arc read for you, i can’t wait for the next book 👀

Jess Christine has released book 3 in her Romance Rehab series and it was such a fun read. When You Rec’d My Plans provides a sweet romance filled with spice, banter, and a can’t put down storyline. Jess’ writing style has a way of pulling me in and holding my heart from beginning to end. I laughed and swooned multiple times while reading and fell in love with the characters.
Wren and Tanner are a couple that before you know them you wonder how they work. As you get to know them, both individually and separately, you see just how perfectly they match. Every situation they journey together brings them closer and closer. Going from acquaintances to so much more, warmed my heart to no end. Jess continues to blow me away with her ability to write realistic relationships. Tanner and Wren are amazing together!
This book is perfectly balanced between tension, drama, romance, and spice. In her words, cotton candy romance with smut! And we can’t forget the heart that goes into her side characters as well. She puts so much heart into them that they are a vital part of the story that wouldn’t be the same without. The blending of the familiar with the new, elevates the romance even more.
As always, review any author notes before reading.

I was blessed enough to be an ARC reader for this book and you guys! I ate this book up!
This is the third book in Jess Christine’s romance rehab series and it honestly may be my favorite so far. Wren and Tanners banter and tension gave me so much life. Tanner is probably my favorite MMC so far.
Tanner is on the hunt for a roommate and Wren is being forced out of her current apartment and reluctantly finally agrees to live with him. Tanner has had his sights set on wren for a hot minute, and went from playboy to only wanting her. And this man PROVES how much he wants her. He doesn’t everything so right and I was swooning for him the entire time.
Tanner has suffered for years trying to make his family proud but he quickly realizes the only one he wants to make proud is Wren. As she quickly learns there’s more to him than meets the eye, he’s learning to believe in himself as well.
Wren is our tough nut to crack FMC who stands ten toes down on her dreams. Her brother suffers with a brain injury and she’s a goal to open up a camp for other disabled people. And while she doesn’t want to ask for help, Tanner does it anyway but in the best way possible. The relationship he built with her brother? Agh I loved the nerd bonding so much.
And whew the spice? Chapter 44?! I’m just gonna leave that right there.
