Forced with holding up their end of an impossible bargain, Van and Zander must choose between playing it safe and risking everything. Freedom seems impossible, but can they hold onto who they are long enough to survive?
Zander has failed to reproduce the spectacular show of power David is so desperate to see again, which puts him on the outs with his supposed mentor. In order to keep their bargain with the Eroi, he's forced to work more closely with them, which means being subjected to Ivy's mind-stealing presence again. Fighting his hunger becomes secondary to convincing her the Eroi are wrong about her purpose.
Once the most detested of the Roth siblings, Van has now become David's pet. It's clear he intends to take her into his inner circle, but at what price? Van is forced to decide what she's willing to do in order to keep her family safe. If becoming David's protege is the only way... can she live up to his expectations without losing herself completely?
DelSheree Spinner was one of those shy, quiet kids who spent more time reading than talking. She didn't speak a single word for the first few months of preschool. Her fascination with reading led to many hours spent in the library and bookstores, and eventually to writing. She wrote her first novel when she was sixteen years old, but spent ten years rewriting it before it was published.
Native to New Mexico, many of DelSheree’s books feature the Four Corners area or where inspired by its history and lore. When not writing novels, she often reading, hiking, sewing, and working with other authors.
DelSheree has several bestselling young adult series and has hit the USA Today Bestseller list twice as part of box sets. She also writes contemporary romance, cozy mystery, and paranormal new adult series. Her writing is as varied as her reading interests.
So I was given an Advanced Reading Copy by the author, DelSheree Gladden, for an honest review. Usually ARC's are almost in their raw form. There has been some editing, but most of the time, the author will pick a group of people that they trust to read through the book to tell them what they think about it, make the changes and release the amazing book when it is time. The first few chapters were a little confusing. I had to go back and read the last few chapter of Wicked Power so that I could get through the first few chapters. The author is well aware of this, and it DID NOT take away from the story. Wicked Glory continues the story of Van, Zander, and Ocscar Roth. Oscar has been locked up in a mental institution for an act that he committed but he is able to help his siblings, Van and Zander get through many things. Ketchup is still a main part of the story and he will do absolutely anything to help Van. With the help of Annabelle and a few surprising characters from the first two books they are able to figure out what is going on with David and the Godlings. David is doing everything that he can to get Van and Zander under his control. This has been the best out of the three books Wicked Hunger and Wicked Power. Halfway through the book the author drops a bombshell that I never ever saw coming. It made a huge change with the story. I am so glad that I was trusted to be able to get an advanced copy of this book. The Something Wicked This Way Comes series has been an amazing series since book one, Wicked Hunger. There is a fourth book planned an I am looking forward to what the surprises are going to be. DelSheree Gladden has kept on surprising me and making this series just so worth reading. I hope that I don't have to wait long for the fourth book.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Wow!I have seldom been so drawn in by a third book in a series! This is my favorite in the series so far. The romance is sweet and even a bit sexy without being distasteful, there is lots of action and witty humor, and surprises at every turn. There are still mysteries to be solved, but the answers behind everything is becoming more clear with this third installment. I was particularly happy to be able to understand the pull between Ivy and Zander better. I also especially enjoyed getting to know Oscar on a deeper level. He has always been such a great mix of funny and creepy, but this installment in the series added more depth to his character to where I can't help but hope that everything somehow works out for him despite his mistakes in the past. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!
She did it again!! Gladden is such a gifted story teller. This is my favorite book in the series so far. And apparently there is going to be a 4th book. yay!!
This was another very well written book by Gladden. Intense and fast paced almost the whole way through. I was so surprised when I was at the end because it went so fast. I couldn't put it down. And the character development was spot on. I loved getting to know all the characters better.
I especially loved how much we learned about Oscar in this book. He definitely needed more time to shine and was given it in this book. I love Van, Zander and Ketchup - but there is just something about Oscar. I loved how his character progressed and how everything unfolded regarding him. I think he makes everything more interesting.
And Ivy!! wow. just wow. I wasn't expecting that.... It all makes sense now.
Great 3rd book. And the ending was done right. No massive cliffhanger and I felt a sense of completeness where it left off. Read it and you will see what I mean. =)
I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. And I can honestly say, I love everything DelSheree Gladden writes.
What a great third part in this thrilling series. I received an advance copy in return for an honest review. I got into this series quite recently, and have been hooked ever since. I loved how in this third part the characters were developed even more. We get to learn a whole lot more about Oscar, and it really helps you to understand him a lot better. Zander and Van continue with their training, and both go about trying to find ways to bring David down in order to save Van once their grandmother passes. There is a lot of excitement in this book, lots of fight scenes, lots of romance between Van and Ketchup, and finally Zander gets to the root of his feelings for Ivy and Annabelle. Finally!! This book is once again a MUST-READ! Miss Gladden knows how to write a captivating story that has you on the edge of your seat one moment, and sighing out loud the next! A great mix of action and mystery packed with lots of great romance. For all the fans out there, Miss Gladden has promised a fourth book, so do not panic, as I did, when you see the book coming to and end and you think, no way, this can not be the end, MORE THIS WAY COMES!!! Thank Heavens!
I was under the impression that this was a trilogy... it's not!!
The stakes are higher than ever... and that calls for some MASSIVE twists and turns in the plot as well as some interesting fights. Delsheree presents honourably on all levels! I was captivated from the first chapter and having been late for dinner and bed... I finally finished... unfortunately I realised it was the end (that was when I through my kindle to the floor and two days later have yet to pick it up ;) )
I love Oscars character, he certainly brings that air of mystery as well as strength to the plot. Van played a really good part and I enjoyed the struggle she was faced with over what she was willing to do to stay David's pet. We certainly see David continue with his creepiness and are introduced to both and new characters... ones that we love and ones that WE DEFINITELY DO NOT!! enjoy... ;)
Delsheree, we still need to sort out this Ketchup situation... I still haven't received my share of him yet!! ;)
I loved the first two books, but the third book is so much better. The book picks up from the end of the previous book, and somehow manages to become more and more addictive as you keep reading. Yet another all nighter for me, but it was well worth it in the end, and yet another great book to recommend to others. Now I just have to wait for the next installment to come out to see what happens next to all these great characters.
This book had me on edge!! So many things were revealed and happened, it had my excitement and anticipation shooting off the roof! Oscar! Dang it Oscar, he surprised me just a little but I loved it! How everything erupted and fell into places was amazing! Excited for the next book which is last!!!
Annabelle's spur of the moment decision to run has caused a rift with the Roths that need to be repaired if they are to trust her again, especially Oscar who took a very dim view of her choice. The Roths are not committed to work with the Eroi and Isolde and are not convinced that they can really be trusted, but Zander feels that the agreement to protect Vanessa from David will be worth it, even if part of the deal subjects him to being around Ivy to be tested by the Eroi. Ketchup knows that Zander is hiding something important from Vanessa, Oscar reveals his big secret to Zander and the truth about Noah is revealed.
Lots of interesting stuff happening in this book! Lets start with Oscar. It has been so great to have him fully involved in the story as he is such a dangerous and fascinating character. Finding out the secret that he has been keeping from his family is a bit of a surprise but it helps to show that in spite of the bad things he has done, he is actually a good guy at heart. It just made me love the character even more.
Vanessa is enjoying her training now that dance moves are being brought into it but it it a shock to realise exactly what she is being trained for. She understands now that the best way to keep her family safe is to do what David tells her, learn and resign herself to her fate, hoping that she doesn't lose her own identity and humanity along the way. Is Ketchup going to be able to keep her grounded and help her through the trauma of what she is about to do? When the two of them also uncover what Noah has been hiding from them, they are unsure what to do about it. I'm not going to say anything to spoil this part of the plot!
Zander is hating the way Isolde wants to keep testing his reactions to Ivy but getting the chance to talk to Ivy is what Zander wanted all along and he uses it to try and get her onto his side. He is starting to believe that she does care about him but how does he really feel about her after all that happened? Will she be able to help him to fight back against David? Annabelle is not happy about Zander being in contact with Ivy but after her own silly stunt, she has to concentrate on winning back his trust instead of rocking the boat further. They continue to research the history of the Eroi and Godlings, especially the prophecy about who is the Gift who will end the war.
David decides to set his plans in motion at last as Vanessa and Chris go on their first joint mission. He wants to know if Vanessa has what it takes to do his work. The mission is not something she wants to do but she fears for her family if she doesn't. And the way things go have a dramatic effect on her. David puts Zander in to fight James again, determined to find out if Zander is what he wants him to be, unaware that Zander is prepared for this with some help from Ivy. But will it be enough to stop David for good?
There are so many twists in this plot and a lot of tension! Noah's reveal and Oscar's secret provide us with vital information about the past of the Roth family. I found Oscar's whole backstory to be the best part of this book. Poor Vanessa is really put through the wringer with the mission that she is sent on and the effects is have on her are nothing short of heartbreaking. Ketchup is ready to do anything to protect her. The book build up to the big showdown as the Roths make an attempt to take back their destiny from David with help from a few allies. It was pretty exciting and tense. I had my suspicions about who the Gift was even as our group wondered about it.
This series keeps up the excellent standard of the previous books and I am totally invested in the Roths and their struggle to survive and control the hunger!
Glory never comes without battle, and as always, glory always comes with a price.
Author DelSheree Gladden masters the art of fate and war in WICKED GLORY. The love of family and survival are strong in book 3 of the Someone Wicked This Way Comes series, as Van and Zander work through the parts they will play in a war they did not start, but must finish if they want to survive.
SURPRISES, SURPRISES, SURPRISES! Relationships grow stronger. Life, love, and sanity are challenged. Friendships build strong bonds as the cast of characters come to the realization of what greed, power, revenge, and war can do to everyone it touches—a moving, tense, eye-opening read, that certainly leaves this fan eager for more.~~Susan Stec, Author of The Grateful Undead series
This book is simply amazing with lots of twist and turns . I expected Oscar to be something really good but now I know how awesome he is. Ivy's choice just not add her to my good list but I really felt sorry for her .
Delsheree always been my favourite writer. She beautifully unfolds every aspect of the story . This book will left you wondering what's next to come .
Why oh why must this be so good? I hate that I have to wait until next year to see what happens next. Book Three does not disappoint and honestly the series just keeps gripping me tighter as it gets better. I don't normally expect that. Wow, just WOW!
ah you are killing me DelSheree I thought this was the last book in the series and now I find there is more to come. Brilliant book I loved I can not wait to find out what happens next.
