Vipers Den: Part One Piper & Kade
I’m Piper Jones, owner and operator or Vipers’ Den; a hair and beauty salon catering to the unconventional. My clients are often referred to as: eccentric, freaks, or misfits.
I’m also single, a fact my mother is less than pleased with. Making it her mission to change my status, she continually sets me up on dates with her friend’s offspring. Only her roster of “gems” is dwindling. Each date is worse than the last.
Then Kade Benson, the one man I have loathed for as long as I can remember, approached me with the most asinine (borderline genius) plan I’d ever heard to rectify both of our situations.
As ludicrous as it is, it might just work.
However, I never expected things to work out the way they did.

Piper has been in a long term relationship with her business...but her mother wishes she focus on settling down, growing impatient she set her up with her friends kids only to result in one bad blind date after another. She needs a plan quick, but never did she think that her savior would come in the form of Kade. He's the best friend of her brother and every chance they get they are at each other throats... He needs to show he's moved on when his latest fling turned bat shit crazy.
Proving to everyone will take some Oscar winning acting, after all it's no secret to anyone how much they hate each other. They say practice makes perfect, in the privacy of their homes they get each to know each other, mentally and physically ...
Not everyone is quick to believe, especially themselves...
Vipers Den: Part One Piper & Kade was such a surprising treat, and this is one of the reasons why I read and why I am always willing to try new authors because you never know what you're going to get. Yes this was a shortie and a freebie, but it was one hell of a story. In the ninety pages we took a quick journey from frenemy to fake couple to lovers at the same time with an added thrill in the end. I loved how Piper and Kade were both not weak characters but were able to stand on their own but they became stronger as a couple. This is one of those, I hate that I love you reads. Recommended if your looking for a freebie goodie to mix your reads up a bit.

What a fabulous surprise this book was...even if it was short! Review to come...

Faking a relationship is one thing. Faking it with your brother’s best friend, and someone you despise…completely different.
Piper and Kade are doing just that. Problem is, Piper is going the mutual hate they have for one another, while Kade is finally landing the girl of his dreams…even if it’s just to get a crazy-stalker-ex-girlfriend off his back.
“This was going to be weird for both of us. Probably more so for her than me since she genuinely thought she hated me. Me on the other hand – I had accepted my attraction to her long ago. But I also accepted that she was my best friend’s sister and it would never happen. Not that it was happening now. It was fake. We were just faking it.”
Until they weren’t.
Somewhere along the line, locked away feelings surface and realization dawns that this could be something real…and amazing.
Piper just had to convince herself that it was a charade…one that would be over as soon as the crazy was out of the picture. So what that her feelings were starting to get involved. That was an entire different problem she had no interest in visiting.
But there was that one night…
This little book was surprisingly refreshing. It was a perfect length, it didn’t drag, it had a great ending…and yet, I didn’t want it to end. I think I could’ve read so much more about Piper and Kade. Not to mention her crazy staff at Viper’s Den, her hot brother, even a little more back story on their upbringing…not to say that what I got wasn’t truly awesome because it was. I just enjoyed it so much that I would have loved it, even if there was “fluff”. I cannot wait for the next installment and I truly hope that as with all serials; this one has many volumes because I have many questions! Excellent, quick, sexy read! Enjoy it, I certainly did!

Ahhhhh!! OMG so… love, love, love, love, insta love, add some more loves, and you’ve got just about all of my feels for these characters the writing and the story!!!
Talk about jumping right in!! Its like the 1st sentence and BAM! You're in the thick of things.
This book is a great way to spend an afternoon lounging and wanting to enjoy a fun and sexy read. Like I mentioned earlier the characters were all great. I fell in love with Piper right away she is a no SH in charge kind of girl. Kade is…
He was amazing and once he really admitted his feelings it was super endearing to see. There aren’t any overly shocking things that happen…Everything works out pretty quickly. Something that is true for all novellas when they are really really good? I WANT MORE!!! Gah!! I wan’t to know all about Piper’s brother and the receptionist, Kade’s mom, Piper’s mom, Kade & Piper, Piper & Kade! So many things! I was pretty bummed about that.
Like I said this was super cute, super short, but a great little story none the less. I’m looking forward to continuing this series and hope to see some more of Kade and Piper along the way.

I adore this author, her stories never fail to put a smile on my face. Her latest is solid gold from the first page, entertaining, well written, wicked funny, and deliciously steamy. She writes about misfits or “alternative” characters, but she has a knack of cleverly putting forth their humanity, and imbuing them with so much appeal, that they seem mainstream by the time I have settled into the tale. One of the main characters of this piece is the proprietress of Vipers’ Den, which is a “beauty salon that caters to the misfits of society.” Her looks are described as “intimidating.” She probably would appear unapproachable to me if I met her on the street, yet in her story, she is a typical gal and good person; she owns a business, works hard, and is falling in love. Daunting looks or not, I enjoyed spending my afternoon with her. There will be more their story with a continuation of the series, but thank goodness this was a stand-alone installment, no sucky cliffhanger – which is always a plus in my eyes.

Fun and sexy novella! You will love the feisty, out there, personality of Piper. And Kade...well what's not to love, except Piper can't stand him. this is one fun read! I cracked up laughing hysterically and then cringed when things went wrong. I highly recommend this fun novella. I thoroughly enjoyed every word written and can't wait to start Pixie and Jake. Enjoy!

Let me start off by saying this book starts off fantastic and loved Eliza Brown’s writing style. The book is fast paced and held my attention to the end. My only problem was I wished the book was a little longer. I needed more Piper and Kade.
The book takes you on a ride filled with HOT and STEAMY parts and tons of suspense. I was sitting on the edge of my seat reading as fast as I could because I was dying to see what would happen next.
Piper is the owner of Vipers Den and as Piper puts it best….. “I also own and operate Vipers’ Den, a beauty salon that caters to the misfits of society.” Loved everything about her. She spoke her mind and didn’t take crap from anyone.
Let’s talk about Kade Benson for a minute. Kade was her brother’s best friend since they were young and Piper’s number one archenemy. Piper describes him best when she says, “He was a walking contradiction: sexy as h***, tall, broad, muscular, and able to hack any computer put in front on him.” Everything about him is just HOT!
The chemistry and banter between these two was fabulous! Readers be warned!!! You might need a spare pair of panties on hand after you finish this one!
“Holy s***! Kade was a good kisser. I pulled back startled. That hadn’t been what I was expecting. I thought my body would reject him, but it had other ideas. I wanted to crawl into his lap and maul him. No freaking way.”
The plot was original and I pretty much loved everything about this book.

This was a really fun read based in Vipers Den, a specialty beauty salon. Part One is the story of the owner Piper and the man she didn't even think she liked falling in love. Their story starts out with Kade needing Piper to pretend to be his girlfriend to get rid of a stalker he has. As they pretend it starts feeling a little to real. Is she ready for a relationship and why did she think she didn't like this guy? It is a short read and I loved meeting all the characters that work at Vipers Den and can't wait to find out their story.

Gosh, this was sitting on my Kindle for so long... And for whatever reason I tought this was a MC book. Silly me.
I actually liked it. I am a big fan of friends to lovers stories so, yay. This story is just deliciously cute.

Viper’s Den was a surprising energetic and at time humorous as hell joy ride. I was at first a little bit confused with the heroine's personality. She is very brash and at times blunt as heck. After relaxing and just telling myself to see where this was going I found I actually enjoyed her “out there” persona like a cold glass of lemonade on a hot summer day. It was refreshing although a little tart.
Sassy one liners and inner monologue to make you cry from laughing.
Add just enough sugar and you got one tasty treat in the feisty Piper Jones. Heck even her name is sassy.
So the funny parts in this book had me rolling and for some reason every time I heard Piper get a little irate in my head ..I saw Madea.
Yea crazy moments that had me going WTF? But loving every minute of it. Do not cross Piper!!
We had crazy ex stalkers and silly friends and well meaning family members. So much drama in one little book you’d think it would bury the romance under all the craziness but it worked.
It was sexy as hell when Kade and Piper connected. I am talking hot hot hot. Kade was the perfect boyfriend and he had like every quality that would make it hard for any women to be immune to his charm. But add in the fact that this sexy guy cooked!! Oh holy heck!!
Then the sweetest love scene that some how not only sizzled it vibrated ..with passion and emotion.
I was very pleased with this sexy short but perfect in all the right places novella and am eager to see where this author takes us with this crazy energetic cast of characters.

This is the first book I have read by Eliza Brown, and just want to how the heck have I not found her sooner, but better late than never. Thank god I did, I am so adding the rest of her books to my Goodreads list like NOW!!
So on to my review...
Vipers Den is the first book in a series of novellas where the stories are centred around a salon. So in this, part one, we are introduced to Piper who owns Vipers Den, a salon with a twist. It caters for the more unique, eccentric clients not your everyday mums or business women. Piper's business is ticking over nicely but there is one thing that she needs to change in her life and that is her matchmaking mother. Piper is desperate to stop her mother meddling in her affairs but needs a plan and quick.
In walks Kade, Piper's brother's best friend, who have known each other since they were young. Piper resents Kade and feels he took her brother away from her when they were growing up. But when Kade offers her a plan to get his crazy bitch, stalker girlfriend off his back, Piper sees a way out of her mothers plans to date everyone of her friends' offspring (win,win) for both of them.
I just adore Piper and Kade together. Their love/hate relationship had me laughing, swooning and fanning myself. The way they just fitted so perfectly together even though they had a very volatile relationship growing up. Kade is the whole package, mouth watering and sexy as hell while still being the ultimate gentleman. Kade has definitely made it onto my BBF list and you have to be a whole lotta sex on a stick to get on there!

Vipers Den is a really quick read and will only take you a few hours if reading it in one sitting. Eliza Brown's writing style gripped me from the first page and kept me engaged throughout the story. After reading an excerpt from Vipers Den Part Two I am now looking forward to Pixie & Jake's story.

I just adore Piper and Kade together. Their love/hate relationship had me laughing, swooning and fanning myself. The way they just fitted so perfectly together even though they had a very volatile relationship growing up. Kade is the whole package, mouth watering and sexy as hell while still being the ultimate gentleman. Kade has definitely made it onto my BBF list and you have to be a whole lotta sex on a stick to get on there!
You wouldn't think computer geek went with football captain, But then that was Kade. He was was a walking contradiction: sexy as hell, tall, broad, muscular, and able to hack any computer put in front of him.
Vipers Den is a really quick read and will only take you a few hours if reading it in one sitting. Eliza Brown's writing style gripped me from the first page and kept me engaged throughout the story. After reading an excerpt from Vipers Den Part Two I am now looking forward to Pixie & Jake's story.

I am so happy I read this book by Eliza Brown, I find her writing very refreshing in this book.
This is a great quick read and a great book to get you over a book hangover.
The only reason I rated it 4.5 stars was because I personally dont like short books infact I very rarely read them based on that fact, but when a short one comes from an Author I love I tend to make exceptions. ♥
I adore those Love/Hate relationships and this is no exception, I love the chemistry between Kade and Piper.
When Kade comes to piper with a proposition to claim to be in a fake relationship with him to get someone off his back, she figures why not!!!! Kills 2 birds with one stone, it gets her mother off her back and stops her setting piper up on doomed dates with #undateables.
Seems easy enough doesn't it?! I mean what can go wrong, they've only hated each other since they were kids, lets just say things aren't all they seem and when one of them is hiding a secret that can change absolutely everything it makes for a fantastic read.
I think it's great to read a story where the female character is just as strong as the male, and Piper is definitely that she has a strong personality, shes smart, ambitious and posseses strong leadship skills.
Kade comes across with the same qualities and maybe thats what stop them connecting when they were younger.
Anyway I'm going to stop there because I don't want to lead you down the path of spoilers ;).

Sometimes novellas can be great and sometimes they are just okay. JB Heller has taken the elusive novella and turned it into something fun, quirky and satisfying. The first novella in the Vipers Den series features the Vipers Den owner, Piper. This girl is fun, energetic, and a total bada$$ that you want to be like when you grow up. She is confident, knowing who she is and what she wants. Kade is such a fun and sexy smoking hot nerd that makes all the girls sigh. He is Piper’s older brother’s best friend and they have known each other for so long. This is always a tricky place but when it is meant to be there is no stopping it.
These two have such a great frenemies to lovers story! They have chemistry and passion that was often translated into frustration and loathing during their younger years but once that switch is flipped, things turn sweet, hot, and heartfelt between these two. When things finally being to work out and crazy things happen, these two are able to band together and bring about a finale that will leave your heart beating fast.
I appreciated that JB Heller was able to bring a story together with a good amount of back story and character development without dragging this story down. A novella does not allow much room for extras but this story gives you everything you want in a short, sweet, and sassy package! This novella sets the stage for a new series full of personality and fun! I cannot wait to see what happens with each person in the Vipers Den.

This was sexy, fast and fun! I read this in about 2 hours and fricking loved every bit of it. I think i missed being able to just enjoy a quick read. Piper is hilarious and I love her style and sass and she has LOADS of both! Kade is an anomaly sexy, tatted business man with a tough yet nerdy exterior. I loved that these two were practically at each other’s throats for most of their lives and were to oblivious to know each other’s feelings. The dose of CRAZY was a perfect little spice to what could have been the typical played out boy and girl realize their feelings and fall in love type of story. I really love that the author chose the idea of Vipers Den because I love a different outlook on things. Viper’s Den is an alternative salon. Alternative. So please don’t walk in and ask for the Nicole Kidman look – it’s not going to work :)It was nice to see a main female character with confidence and complete lack of humility. Piper is totally bad ass, she knows it and isn’t afraid to remind everyone else regularly. She rules over her world like a queen with a David Bowie in the Labyrinth style. She can be sweet but is most certainly hell on wheels so watch out!

I loved Piper and it's no wonder that Kade did. She was sweet and sexy, she was lairy and gobby, she was sarcastically funny....and according to the description given in the book, she was one hot babe too!
I'm not going to retell the story in this review, but what I will say is that the author has told a very sweet tale of loving your best mate's sister extremely well. There was passion, there was comedy, there was serious guy talk lol. The story flowed effortless. The POV change was flawless.
The ending was sweet like the whole tone of the book. It's funny because I never expected this kind of story. I've said before, I very rarely read the blurb of a book and judging by the title, I was actually expecting a biker book! Nope, no bikers here thank goodness!!
One thing I will say is the book needs a damn good edit. There are spelling errors throughout. I'm not the greatest spellers but even I know the difference between your and you're.
I decided to let all the editing errors go over my head and award this the full 5* because I really really enjoyed this book and to what I have been reading lately, it was a breath of fresh air.

Five Stars for Part One
Part One: Piper and Kade's story.
Loved it! Piper is kickass, tough as nails, in a word different and proud of it. She has known Kade for years, he's her brother's best friend, so when he comes to her with a proposition she only hesitates for a moment. I liked their chemistry, how they fit each others molds and their only problem being together comes in the form of his crazy ex.
I highly recommend book one and look forward to reading Pixie and Jake's story next!

Impressive, I loved the story of Piper & Kade.
It was fun, witty, flirty and yet had the perfect element of intimacy I love... it's very much up my alley.
First ever book I have read by J.B Heller & it wont be the last.

A sweet, fun, quick read. Piper and Kade are both strong characters (hooray for female leads with back bone!) and their chemistry is delicious. This is one of the few books I've read where the warp-speed relationship seems 100% believable.

A short and cute read. The thing about this author is how well the characters related with each other. I felt as though I was reading a 22 chapter full length novel. It was seriously a fun read.

Short and sweet with plenty of sass and heat. These two have known each other forever. She believed they hated each other, she was wrong. There’s Avery thin line and they were never on the wrong side. Great book!
