'Resonance' is a must read debut novel by author Ajay. The author beautifully developed a fiction on temporary issue of cross-border terrorism. The plot revolves around the collusion of the Pakistani terrorists groups and some Indian traitors after Mumbai attack. A retired ISI chief conspires to devastate some part of India by causing destruction of a major dam. For this purpose he uses a basic concept of physics called ‘Resonance’. In physics, resonance is the tendency of a system to oscillate with greater amplitude at some particular frequencies than at others. The chief plants some explosive materials underneath the huge water body of the reservoir behind the dam. Exploding the same with help of some device, he wants to generate a driving force at resonance frequency causing large amplitude oscillations destroying the equilibrium of the reservoir. Due to this resonance, the normal seiche in the water body turns into huge monstrous waves which destroy the dam and the deluge washes out everything standing downstream. IB Joint Director, Rana tries to foil the dangerous plan with help of Aban, the son of the same ISI chief against all odds. Why a Pakistani, the son of the mastermind conspirator helps Indian investigator against his own father, read the book to know the reason.
The story is beautifully crafted. Prose is simple and lucid and fast pace. The author has succeeded in using his deep knowledge and insight of Physics, Civil Engineering, Information-Technology, Geopolitics and modus-operandi of investigating agencies.

The plot and the machinations are beyond silly. Characters are cardboard. The only thing that saves this sorry mess from the dreaded 0ne-star is the quantum of authentic information about the workings of intelligence agencies. The fact that the author was part of one of them doesn't hurt. At the risk of sounding repetitive, let me say that Indian English writers still have a long way to go.

A very stunning debut by Ajay .From the cover page of novel one cannot get any idea of what the novel all about but when i tell you that its based on the basic concept of physics i.e. RESONANCE which a group of terrorists are using to attack a dam of India the cover looks perfect. The story moves around an ex-ISI General, Imran Shah Malik, who is unable to forget the defeat of the Pakistani army at the hands of the Indian armed forces in the Bangladesh war of 1971.Revenge is the foremost thing on his mind.suddenly one day a report comes that he has been thrown in the swat river from a deadly height. His son studying in US is deported to pakistan and become the youth icon for jihadis.

In the meantime an officer of IB,Siddharth Rana tries to figure out the possible terror activities that could take place in India which is being plotted by terror groups alongwith some traitorus Indians. Also he tries to figure out from one clue to another to conclude the last words of a CISF officer to save the country from any kind of possible attack..

Overall its a page turning thriller with classical essence of physics. One can get the complete thriller of The West in it but the positive point is that it is not pointing any of the religious groups.the thrill remains till the end and the best part was the climax, the DOOMSDAY.

Overall a wonderful and knowledgeable read. The Indian writing is presented in a different genre in the form of debut novel by the author.A must read for thriller loving persons.Definitely YES.

A Gripping Tale of Two Good Men, Two Evil Men, Two Wonderful Women, and Three Resonances

Just a day after the Mumbai 26/11 terrorist attacks, a young Pakistani man lands at JFK Airport, New York, carrying a MacBook. As soon as he lands, a FBI Agent takes hold of his MacBook and arrests him. A brilliant Intelligence Officer from India flies down from Delhi to New York to lay hands on the secret buried somewhere deep inside the MacBook.

But no one – not even a supercomputer nor National Security Agency of the USA – can decipher the password that holds the key to the secret held by the MacBook.
The young Pakistani man himself too doesn’t know the password; he has not even the faintest idea of what lies buried in the MacBook. He and the Intelligence Officer, however, know that the backup of the personal computer of Former Chief of ISI is loaded in the MacBook. But what is there in that backup? What secret does the MacBook hold? Is that secret related to 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks? Or something more sinister, more deadly and more destructive?

As the young Pakistani man and the brilliant Intelligence Officer - together - rake their brains to solve these riddles, a natural human bond, transcending the enmity between their two nations, builds up between them all by itself. And gradually they embark on a Mission to unearth the truth, a Mission that soon becomes a Mission to Save India. The Reader too jumps in the fray; she or he cannot stand apart.

Elsewhere, a mysterious enigmatic man – who knows about Maharishi Raman; ponders about the existential question ‘Who am I?’; wonders ‘which one is more true, unity in diversity of culture or diversity in unity of religion?’ – that mysterious man has already embarked, long before, on a Mission to destroy India. With him in that Mission is a High Ranking Investigation Officer of India.

These four men.

A brilliant patriotic Intelligence Officer of India driven by love for fellow human beings; and a greedy Investigation Officer from India driven by the lure of money. A young man from Pakistan driven by the thought ‘we all are human beings’; and a mysterious enigmatic man from Pakistan driven by hate.

These four men: two good; two evil. The good men are on a Mission to Save India and the evil men are on a Mission to Destroy India.

Which Mission will finally succeed? Who will win? The Reader helplessly wishes and frantically hopes that the two good men will prevail over the two evil men. But how? How the good men can ever hope to stop the evil men? The evil men are already two steps ahead; the good men are still groping in dark.

As the Reader sees and hears these men, she or he is filled with admiration for the two good men and with contempt for the two evil men. Again and again the Reader wants to whisper in the ears of the two good men all that the Reader knows about the two evil men and their deadly Mission. And at the same time the Reader wants to scream at the two evil men telling them to stop and to think what will they get by destroying millions of fellow human beings.

But the Reader is helpless - she or he can only travel with these men, can see and hear them, but cannot speak to them. Only if she could speak with them…and stop this mindless Mission to annihilate millions and destroy thousands of square miles of verdant land.

RESONANCE seductively draws the Reader in; once in the Reader cannot get away, even for a moment. Who knows what is going to happen next? The Reader cannot leave those men and the two women, women who stir your heart with their enlightened outlook and universal affection for fellow human beings.

The Reader is held captive in a thrall, in a spell, which the Author, a wordsmith, a magnificent storyteller, so dazzlingly weaves, with a tale crafted with a prose of high quality. It is a tale told from the depths of understanding – of human nature, technology, global politics, and intelligence agencies – it is a tale told from heights of creativity. It just dazzles.

Though fraught with danger all along, the Reader yet loves the thrilling, exciting journey which the Author has so meticulously penned for her or him – taking the Reader from Jordan-Hindukush Mountains-Lahore-Mumbai-Delhi-New York-Abu Dhabi-Dubai-India…

In course of that journey the Reader somehow learns that RESONANCE contains two Resonances within itself: Physical Resonance created by Simple Harmonic Motion of the elements of nature; and Emotional Resonance created by the Vibration of the human hearts. And as the Reader travels further with the men and women in the Novel, another Resonance – a third Resonance – is created: between the Reader and the Novel.

When the journey ends, the Reader is left wondering ‘when will I get the Author’s second Novel?’ I too can hardly wait for the Author’s second Novel.
Meanwhile, in waiting, I hope to see, again - on a Big Screen - those four men and those two wonderful women.

OMG ! Truly Breathtaking Thriller . A tale that keep the reader hooked to the story line and let reader to turn pages itself . I myself keep on turning pages one by one and even try to do same at very last page .
● Starting from Front cover ....... Front Cover basically holds a Sketch of a Dam , Eyes and Title of Book "Resonance" as well as Name of author .
●Back cover design gives the idea of a calamity caused by Water . and a brief up of the plot .
●Now coming to the writting which I'll say is flawless .
keywords used in defining the story of Resonance are :- 2611 , India , Pakistan , India , Dubai , FBI , AlQaeda , Patriotism , Bravery , Faith and even Romance .
I wanna give complete review of this book but I'll not because I heartedly want others to read the book inspite of just reading Review . Author has successfully created many questions in the mind of readers with his writting and me as reader sees my self as completely hooked to book and trying to figure out many questions like I successfully figure out who's behind the voice of Shalim Amir Khan with the clues that author has left behind to keep the reader in loop .
Story clearly reveals the fct that author has done a vast research on Dams , tactics and especially the technology used in espionage world .
Coming to the title "RESONANCE" , I think author had chosen an apt term as whole plot of attacking the dams revolves around scientific term Resonance . In simple words RESONANCE is a phenomenon in which frequencies of two objects match causing a massive destruction .
For meeee..... the most gripping moment was the stance when the head of a Sovereign country made a request to another country to bug his own Residence and other important buildings of his country .
I'll say its MUST READ for all those who loves to read about Espionage and Defence .
With the plot line , I'll say , Author had tried to put no. of generous ideas like Traitor has No Nationality , Terror means terror doesn't mean in which form it is .Plot doesn't just thrill reader with Defence but also gave a strong message of love and peace . The relationship of Juhi ( Daughter of High Commissioner of India to US ) and Aban ( Son of Retired Official of ISI ) reveals the fact that family is nothing to do with blood but is the people you love .
In the story , a point came when PM of Pakistan talks to PM of India and debrief about the attack to be carried out in India and ensure complete co-operation which Pak PM actually do .
"Chaha Jaan " and Imran Malik too portrayed as true patriot and brave .With story author gave a message of peace , a meassage not just to the citizens of India and Pakistan but also to Governments of both the nation .
I love the character of Aban most because even after being citizen of Pakistan , he stepped forward to help Indian Security Agencies to dismantle the attack , giving an idea that TRUTH AND HUMANITY IS ALWAYS GREATER THAN BOUNDRIES DRAWN BY HUMANS . Role of Siddharth Rana , Joint Director of IB is also justified who works day and night to crck the case .
At last I'll say , RESONANCE is a must read book . And I truly hopes to read many more books pen down by Ajay sir :)

From the first look at the novel, it doesn’t reveals anything about the plot but when I’ll tell you that the plot is basically about a terrorist group attacking an Indian Dam using the ‘Resonance’ effect that we read in basic physics, then the book cover looks perfect.

As the author is basically working for IRS, we can expect a lot from him over this kind of genre and the same got delivered by Ajay. His professional background gives him the knowledge of the working of different secret agencies of the world and hence he proves to be a perfect person to be writing over this thrilling and eventful plot.

The story of the book basically revolves around the al Quida and their plan to destroy India by attacking a huge dam of India. Aban, a pakistani boy, who somehow got caught as a suspect of Mumbai attacks at Taj Hotel, is having a valuable breakthorugh over this plan and extends his support to Siddharth Rana, the Joint Director of the IB. The Plan is the most deadliest plan ever made and so is the investigation by the international agencies to stop the massacre. The doomsday would be bought up by a basic effect of physics called ‘Resonance’.

Story line and the plot is fantastic, the only thing which I felt was lacking was the writing style of Ajay. I felt that dialogues were missing the charm and everything was looking a bit dramatic, the soul was missing. But overall it is the best terrorism novel I have ever read by an Indian author.

The best part of the novel, according to me was the climax. It was totally unexpected and took the reader totally offgaurd.

.....The book is a thrilling read from the beginning to the end. There is terror, of course. But what sets this book apart from the other stylish and taut thrillers of the West, is that the book does not indulge in demonizing any religion. The author has borrowed heavily from the Sufi traditions of India. Sufism itself evolved as a soothing and soulful blend of the best of Hindu and Islamic beliefs, and hence, the same soulful touch is found in many places in the story. ........................................................................................................The author, Ajay Pandey, is an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). During his long and successful career with the IRS, he has had several occasions to work closely with law enforcement. Other than taxation laws, which, of course, are his bread-and-butter work. This kind of exposure has given him a ring-side view of the world of terrorism, terror financing and economic offences, and that exposure has come into play quite evidently in this book.

Over all, a wonderful read. A book which is special because it is written by an Indian in the Indian context. The locations, agencies and agent-prototypes are known and familiar. This is Indian Writing in a different genre, a different class. A good read for this holiday season? Definitely, yes.

Marvelous - wonderful built up of suspense and science fiction, with theories which are sound and appear so genuine and real to the extent that one can visualize the happening. Considering this is his debut novel, Ajay has done a fantastic job.
A must read for all those who enjoy science fiction, politics, terrorism OR variety of human behavior and psychology.

Ajay's "Resonance" reads like a racy unputdownable thriller. Gives a glimpse into the shadowy cloak-&-dagger dangerous world of Secret Service agents, who put their lives on line to protect our country. These unsung heroes love the country to the point of "madness" but whose exploits are seldom revealed. The author has skillfully woven the characters with vivid imagery & gripping narration making "Resonance" a fit subject for a nationalist movie to educate the public and also inspire the gennext. Suggest Ajay take it up with a good production house. Must read for all officers of law enforcement agencies & security forces.

The book is fast paced and intelligent. The author spends sufficient time on details while keeping the story going forward. The only thing that I didn't like was too much attention to details, for example, Resonance and simple harmonic motion concept related to science was explained too long.

Review- "Resonance" is the excellent debut by author Ajay. Book show's the vast knowledge of author about international agencies, how they work, borders or india and pakistan. You're hooked to book from the very first page and you're hooked untill the last page.
Every chapter is ended with the question what next? You're forced by the strength of the plot and story to turn the page.

About the cover and title of book, it is perfect for the plot as the plot revolves around the scientific term Resonance   which is used  by a terrorist group to destroy a dam.

Language is simple and easily understandable, only thing which i missed is dialogues and effective writing skill. You keep missing the effective  writing which is covered by excellent plot and storyline.

There's a love angel too between Aryan and Juhi who study together in US. The thriller is peppered with high end gadgets which a story a filmy feel.

One of those books that you struggle to finish. Finally when you do & visit Goodreads to review it; you ask yourself: "Where the heck is the ZERO star rating?"

Yeah. That bad a book this is. Bought it from Amazon (Kindle format) because the price was dirt cheap & the rating was nearly 4 stars. Reading was a pain with a plot that went all over the place with huge loopholes and a storytelling that was extremely dull. Neither are the characters sketched well, nor does the writing style arouse any interest. IMO, the last two are very important for a suspense thriller to hold a reader hooked..

Alas, something that Resonance severely lacked!

The author makes use of real events to build a credible fictional story. The story is fast paced and keeps the reader glued. Very interestingly and perhaps correctly, all Indians are not shown as "good" and those from Pakistan "bad". The scientific principle of "resonance' which also happens to be the title of the book, is at the heart of the story as it has the potential to wreak havoc. It almost does but for the last moment realization by a character whose presence is felt through the book though he is there only for a short while.
