Pub Quiz is a very well written and presented guide to planning and executing a successful quiz night, including question rounds (with an answer key) written by Eric Saunders. Released 15th Oct 2021 by Arcturus Publishing, it's 494 pages (print format) and is available in paperback and ebook formats. It's worth noting that the ebook format has a handy interactive table of contents as well as interactive links and references throughout. I've really become enamored of ebooks with interactive formats lately. (The book's questions are directly hyperlinked to the answers in the back of the book; a really handy feature).

This is such a fun and well written book. The introduction covers the basics: who, what, where, how, when, and why. There are more specifics about venues, cover charges (if any), drinks & snacks, acoustics, scoring, and, really, all the info needed to run a quiz night.

The bulk of the book is taken up with the questions. They're hugely varied, concisely written, and definitely not all easy. I pride myself on being a trivia maven and these weren't a walk in the park.

Four stars. This is a one-stop resource for planners of trivia nights. It will be a solid resource for trivia fans as a study guide also. There are some repeat answers, but I didn't see any repeat questions.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Pub Quiz is a guide to organising a quiz night.
The book starts with a pretty detailed info on what the planning of a quiz games entails - drinks & snacks, venue and insurance. After that comes the first big section, including 421 themes rounds, each containing 10 questions. I found a lot of them interesting, although I noticed that some general knowledge rounds would make sense only in a group of Americans - a lot of detailed questions about the US, which most people from other parts of the world won't be able to answer at all. And then of course follows the section of answers to all these 4210 questions. I noticed most ( if not all) of them are one word and nothing more, while I would have liked notes where something else can be acceptable answer - including another popular names of the same thing or things that are close enough to be counted.
Overall, if you're looking to oraganise a cool quiz night, this book will definitely help you out.

Right now Matt Amodio will walk away from Jeopardy with over one million, two hundred thousand dollars. So, clearly trivia can be both fun and profitable or maybe both together. In any event, those who enjoy challenges will enjoy this title.

The author includes over 4,000 questions. So many categories are covered; to name some: General Knowledge, Movies, Music, Science, Religion, Geography, Classical Music, Art, Mythology and many more. Luckily the answers are also provided!

I found the questions to be challenging and discovered I knew much less than I thought. Still, I will have fun dipping in and out of this title to test myself.

The author also offers a lot of practical advice on how to run a quiz night. This was quite helpful.

All in all, an excellent resource for its audience. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this title.

This is a great guide for fans of trivia and those wanting to start their own pub quiz/trivia night. The first part of the book details how to organize, market, and profit from an event, with tips on insurance coverage and what supplies will be needed. The questions are organized in clear categories making them easy to find and refer back to as needed. There were several that were repeated but as long as you choose your sets beforehand you can read through and make sure you don't use them. This is the perfect resource for planning your own event and preparing for ones run by others. I'll definitely refer to this often before I attend trivia events.

Not a bad little collection of questions if you want to host a trivia night, but there are a ton of repeat questions. When in doubt, guess Hungary, Italy, Minnehaha, or Henry Mancini. They show up a LOT. There are also several typos, including this one in quiz 330 that cracked my husband and I up:
"Which tennis player was the black man ever to win the singles title at Wimbledon?" Um...is he winning a tennis player? Did Arthur Ashe win a tennis player? Because that's a cool reward for playing tennis well...

Anyway, I wouldn't really waste any money on this, but it was a fun borrow from the library.

Definitely by this book in paperback. This would be so much more useful if the answers were only a page or two past the questions but the links that are supposed to take you back and forth were difficult to use. Much easier flipping in a real book.
With an outline of how to set up your quiz nights, this book prepares you to host for your friends or even for locals down at the bar. There are hopefully going to be some edits because some of the questions aren't phrased well but overall a nice collection of questions. Just make sure you read through each of your lists and make sure there are no repeats.

While this is a comprehensive book of trivia I found the layout of this book pretty frustrating, at the very least because I was reading it on an e-reader. All the answers for the rounds were all the way in the back and the flipping back and forth was pretty frustrating. Now if you were utilizing this book to put on an actual pub quiz night (and this book goes about making this actually a business) you would probably have this already planned out better for easy perusal. This book is more for businesses actually looking to put on a quiz night then it is for the casual reader who just wanted to read some trivia questions.

This has a great intro that details how to organize and run a pub quiz. It then includes 400+ rounds of 10 questions each, each organized around a particular theme. Answers to each of the rounds are in the back. The themes are pretty straightforward (e.g. Science, Literature, General Knowledge). If you're looking for a big list of trivia questions, this is a great find. However, if you're looking for a quiz book that goes a bit beyond with fun categories (e.g. Before and After), this doesn't do that.

This is a very good quiz book! Lots of questions arranged by General knowledge or by category. I found a few questions in each round were fairly challenging with a couple that you might expect everyone to get - so I would overall say well-balanced.

I skimmed through the sections at the start outlining practicalities of running a quiz but some people might find something useful there.

I noted a lot of question material came from a few years ago - and not as many from more recent years but that is nit-picking really.

Want to start your own quiz nights? This book is a great resource, not only for the trivia questions themselves, but the actual logistics of hosting the event. From sponsors and advertising to catering and the nitty gritty of timing and

The questions are broken down into logical sections to make for an easy flowing event, and with 421 rounds, that's a question pool of 4,210 questions, so it should take a while before exhausting the list.

Want to host a quiz night? This is the perfect book for you. Not only does it have really interesting questions (and not common) and answers it has everything you need to know to start planning.

I do wish the answers were at the end of each section instead of all at the end of the book but it was easy enough to flip back and forth. I thought I was good at trivia before this book so I will definitely be studying this book before trying my hand at bar trivia.

Hubby and I are trivia hounds. He was on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in the first season and has always been the go to go for any trivia events our friends are attending. This is the kind of book we like...we can interact and question each other as we learn new things. We'll be spending time reading through them all as we prep for our next trivia event. Hoping for more of these over time. :)

I love a good quiz and especially a pub quiz, this book is perfect for anyone trying to create their own quiz, wether for a pub night, a family night or with your mates. It’s well organised into topics ranging fromTV, Films, history to General Knowledge. I did think the explanation of how to have a quiz wasn’t really needed, but the questions are really good and not too easy, a really good knowledge level.

Calling all trivia buffs and quiz hounds! Great resource for pub trivia nights with over 4000 questions, most of which are quite difficult. There are pages at the front to also help you set up a trivia night event, even taking into consideration insurance, so the night is a success. This is also good for catch ups over zoom and a bit of fun while in lockdown or separated from loved ones with lots of varied questions broken down into different categories. Great resource and handy to brush up on knowledge.

Very useful resource which includes a step by step guide to hosting a quiz and over 4000 questions (and answers!) split into themes with 10 questions in each section.

The difficulty of the questions is well balanced and will appeal to a broad range of interests.
