A sadistic serial killer has kidnapped my sister Clara and me. Apparently he plans to kill us, then add us to his doll collection.
Admittedly, the sentiment to keep me around after death is rather flattering, but I’ll pass. I’d hate to be a prisoner of this lunatic forever.
Clara is terrified of our current predicament. After all, who wants to die? Certainly not either of us.
Nevertheless, I find this situation quite comical for two
For one, I too have someone kidnapped in my basement that I need to get back to before he runs out of oxygen. Two, well, let’s just say that our kidnapper is not the only serial killer in the room.

If you read the first one and thought that was twisted, you are in for a real treat with this one.
The Darkest Damsel is so twisted, dark and simply UNHINGED and quite frankly, FANTASTIC!
Book one of The Twisted Series, The Twisted Damsel, MUST be read prior to book two, The Darkest Damsel. Otherwise you will be so lost like tears in the rain.
The Darkest Damsel by Nicki Grace is the second book in the Twisted series. A darkly humorous thriller that has major Dexter and Split vibes.
When Sidney gets found not guilty of the murder of the guy that assaulted her twin sister Clara, Sidney tries so hard to put her murderous urges aside and be good. That means no more kidnapping people and definitely no murder. But what Clara doesn't know can't hurt her... right? One day after a shift at the grocery store where Clara works she gets kidnapped. When Sidney and Clara wake up they discover that their kidnapper plans on keeping them forever and making them part of his doll collection. But the kidnapper (Not Dan) doesn't know that he has made the biggest mistake of his life. You see, Sidney is hiding a secret and she is not afraid to get her hands a little dirty.
I was so excited to be chosen for the ARC team for The Darkest Damsel!! I absolutely loved the first book and this one exceeded my expectations! This book is dark, suspenseful and don't even get me started on the humor! I loved the way Nicki went more into the characters of Clara and Barbara in this book. The multiple POVs really let the reader understand the emotions and motivations of these characters. And that ending?! *Chef's kiss* Will we see the girls again? I sure hope so!!
Thank you so much to Nicki Grace for letting me be a part of your ARC team!! Can't wait to see where your mind takes us next! 🖤🖤 Expected publication date is April 29th 2025.
My favorite sisters are back. It was entertaining catching up with Sydney and Clara. They encountered a serial killer and came together to face that dilemma. There were many moving parts and point of views; however, the author left nothing unanswered. Barbara was well written, a typical psychology student who has yet to learn one shouldn’t act as therapist to friends and loved ones. She annoyed me at times The ending had me wondering what would come in book three.
I was lucky enough to be chosen to be an ARC for this book, Darkest Damsel. I will start off by saying this is a psychological thrill that you will not be able to put down! The female serial killer Sidney, you can't help but like her. All the characters in this thriller are easy to follow, love, like or hate. The story picks up from the first book Twisted Damsel and continues to build the story to an unbelievable twist. The ending makes your mouth drop, and now I'll have to wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens! Amazing plots and twists and you'll ask yourself, where did they come up with that shocker! This is a must read if you love psychological thrillers. The book overview from Amazon:
"A sadistic serial killer has kidnapped my sister Clara and me.
Nevertheless, I find this situation quite comical for two reasons:
For one, I too have someone kidnapped in my basement that I need to get back to before he runs out of oxygen. Two, well, let’s just say that our kidnapper is not the only serial killer in the room."
Just when I thought Nicki Grace couldn’t possibly surprise and shock me more than she did in The Twisted Damsel with the FMC’s, twins Clara and Sydney, she pulls out The Darkest Damsel. This one takes things to an even darker, more twisted, and gripping level, delivering a psychological thriller that hooks you from start to finish. Clara and Sydney are back to prove that not all damsels need saving - some are more than capable of saving themselves.
I was especially glad to see more of Barbara in this book, which helped clear up a lingering question I had from The Twisted Damsel. By the end of that book, I was torn between two theories, unsure of which one was true until it was finally answered in TDD.
Clara really demonstrates her deep understanding of her sister in TDD. In Twisted, she seemed aware, but still somewhat in the dark about Sydney’s secret hobby. This time, though, there’s no doubt she knows exactly what her sister enjoys.
One quote from Clara about Sydney really stood out to me and had me laughing:
“I have no delusions about my sister’s deadly nature. She is a twenty-three-year-old, complex, fashion-obsessed, cold-blooded killer.”
As we learned in TTD, Clara and Sydney have faced unimaginable trauma, leaving them with deep mental struggles. But life isn’t done testing them yet. A delusional, psycho serial killer has set his sights on Clara - though we all know that Clara and Sydney are a package deal. His plan is to keep Clara safe by putting her on a pedestal and caring for her forever. Lucky for Clara, the killer doesn’t realize that, while he may have her in his sights, he’s about to face the wrath of Sydney. In my best Sydney voice, “Let the games begin.”
Once again, readers are treated to an unsettling journey while Grace delivers a fast-paced, dark psychological thriller, full of twists and turns, ending with a double plot twist like no other - a twist that truly stands out as one of the most shocking I’ve read to date. I still can’t figure out how Grace manages to pack so much detail into such a short book, but it will keep you on the edge of your seat until the final word of the epilogue!
Thank you to Nicki Grace for allowing me to be on her ARC team and read The Darkest Damsel. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my reviews.
Woah! I thought I couldn't be anymore shocked after reading The Twisted Damsel! But Holy cow!!
This was more darkness, more twistedness, more gripping!
I loved that Sydney and Clara prove that not all 'damsels ' need to be saved. Some can save themselves!
This was a fast-paced, dark psychological thriller, jam-packed full of twists and turns and the ending?! Holy cow, it's such a shocking twist that I did not see coming and am absolutely flabbergasted by it! I loved the suspense and the creepiness! Again, incredible writing by Nicki!
I have been a fan of the Twisted Damsel so when I heard there was a sequel to the story I had to be an ARC reader. This book didn’t disappoint at all!! We pick right up in the life of Sidney/Clara and it’s hell of a ride right from the beginning. There are lot twists that will have your mouth dropping and wanting more. I know there has to be an another book coming in the series and I can’t wait! If you love a good psychological thriller this is the book for you! You will not be disappointed
Love this series so much! I’m a sucker for a good thriller and love that the author has incorporated an uncommon diagnosis in her story line. And then that EPILOGUE!!! Can’t wait to read more by this talented author.
OMFG!!! I am not one who reads psycholocical thrillers. But I loved the first one so I had to read this one, and I was not disapointed. I really enjoyed the first book, but this one was even better as it was told from multiple views giving you even more insight to the characters.
This story picks up 2 years after the last one ended. Sidney is on trial for killing the guy who assaulted her sister and then kidnapped her. There is more to it, but you have to read the book to know what it is. Needless to say she does not go to jail. Sidney and Clara move in with Barbara and move on with life. The twins are kidnapped by a serial killer, Not Dan, and taken to a place that nightmares are made of. Which is interesting since Clara or Sidney (whichever) are not what you would call your normal girls. Which actually might be a good thing in this instance.
This book was hands down the best book I have read in a while. It had lots of OMG! and WTF moments. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen next in this series. Nicki Grace never disappoints. Everyne needs to read ALL of her books. She is a wonderful author and her books are definitely ones that I love.
Fantastic sequel to The Twisted Damsel! Sidney and Clara are back and just trying to live their lives until a psychot!c "Doll" collector decided to collect them. Now Sidney must find a way to save them before they become his next vict!m, and hopefully before the air runs out for Sidney's own vict!m in her basement.
As with book 1, I loved every second of this. Sidney is my newest favourite little psych0 k!ller. Don't get me wrong, I love Clara too, but Sidney holds a special place in my own twisted little heart. She is just so sarcastic and funny! I also loved the chapters from Not Dan's POV, and learning a bit of his backstory was so intriguing!
I loved the plot so much, there were parts that definitely made me cringe from the gross but it was so worth it, but if you are someone with triggers, please please read the warnings before picking this one up. And as with book 1, there were some great little twists and turns and that Epilogue got me so excited for another book!
In The Darkest Damsel, Nicki Grace takes readers on a thrilling ride, presenting a psychological narrative that is both darker and more intricate.
The centers around the formidable twin protagonists, Clara and Sydney, who defy the conventional trope of damsels in distress. In The Twisted Damsel, Clara displayed hints of awareness regarding Sydney's secretive pursuits, but in The Darkest Damsel, her insights are sharper and more profound, revealing a sisterly bond that is both complex and compelling.
Grace's skillful narrative choices ensure that readers are not left in suspense without resolution, as she artfully answers the theories that had been left hanging in The Twisted Damsel.
Overall, The Darkest Damsel is a gripping psychological thriller that hooks readers from the very first page. Nicki Grace has successfully crafted a tale that not only offers suspense and intrigue but also showcases the strength and agency of its female characters. This installment solidifies her reputation as a master storyteller, leaving readers eagerly anticipating her next work.
This book was so twisted and I loved it! I was dreaming about Not Dan and it was sickening 😂. That’s what I get for reading late in the night. Sidney’s sense of humor never disappoints. I can’t wait to for her get her revenge.
I’m not sure about the plot twist at the end though. Hopefully it doesn’t take away from the dynamic that is already there. I almost felt like it was too much. But Nicki hasn’t disappointed me yet.
Nicki has done it yet again. I am never disappointed when I read one of her stories. The beginning of the book sucks you in right out the gate. Sydney and Clara have captured my heart, mind, and female book serial killer yet again. Nicki is amazing with the plot twists in her stories. She will forever be one of my Favorite authors.
I'm still reeling.... Here I thought the first book was a ride! This one was even CRAZIER! Definitely don't get on Sidney's bad side... I loved the multiple POVs in this one. It really got you to understand the characters on a deeper level, and it made me enjoy (or hate) the characters even more. I really hope there is a book 3! After that ending, I need more!
Nicki blows my mind every👏🏽single👏🏽time. Without fail! This is no exception! The twists and turns are constant throughout which makes this even more fun to read. Bravo ma'am. Bravo!
Forget what you think you know about damsels in distress. In Nicki Grace’s “The Darkest Damsel,” the damsel isn’t just in distress, she IS the distress🤭, and it’s a terrifying, captivating, and utterly brilliant ride. From the first page, I was hooked, drawn into a psychological web so intricate and unsettling that I couldn’t put it down.😌🖤🖤🖤🖤
Thank you so much for the ARC. I absolutely love the twins. That final twist, dang, I CANT WAIT for part 3. I love how quick of a read this book is. It for sure gives me Dexter vibes. Nicki is becoming one of my new favorite authors.
MAKE THIS A MOVIE! That was a super intense read! The plot twists were twisty and I was gasping. I loved it. Def will recommend to my family, friends, and book club group. Amazing!!!
Wow! The Darkest Damsel was fantastic! It’s dark, suspenseful and had twists! The creepiness is on point when Clara and Sydney are kidnapped and weirdo Not Dan shows up ! Chapter 7 first few sentences had my jaw on the floor and I knew where the very next paragraph was headed! Serial killer; sicko, psycho vibes to the 10th power and I couldn’t put the book down! I loved the first book in the series and this one did not disappoint! Also, Hearing from Barbara in this book, Clara’s best friend , was a nice addition to the story and brought so much! I won’t give any spoilers! But that epilogue though! Can we get a book 3 in this series? And I love that these books are short reads
Absolutely couldn't put it down. I love the way Nicki writes her characters and Sidney, Clara, Barbara and Not Dan are no exception. We start 2 years after the the events of Twisted Damsel, in court, where Sidney faces her accusers. It's all go from there. The twins are taken by a serial killer taken to a place that seems the stuff of any normal persons nightmares. Good thing Sidney isn't exactly normal. This guy does not know who he is messing with. Hands down, so good, can't wait for the next book, I need it now
You did it AGAIN! I’m stunned. What a freaking ride! Although I would’ve loved to know what Joho has been up to (totally kidding) I enjoyed myself. I’ve also started realizing I’m more Syd than Clara 🤣. I also want to say the ending was the best part of the book! READ IT READ IT READ IT PEOPLE!!!! On a serious note Nicki you are a master story teller and conductor of all things unhinged I feel. You deserve to never be slept on when you produce a book-you have gained a huge fan!
Two major plot twists at the end! My mouth was literally hanging open because I was so shocked! This series was so short but packed full of intrigue and surprises. I really hope there will be a third one because there are some unanswered questions! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ no 🌶 I really enjoyed this series a lot and highly recommend it to anyone who loves dexter/Norman bates vibes and thrillers
First and foremost, this is NOT a standalone book. This will not work as a standalone book, and if it does for someone – I’m truly sorry for you, for you have robbed yourself blind, you have robbed yourself of one insanely wild read, and you wouldn’t do such a thing even to your sworn enemy, so why would you do that to yourself? So, please, get your shit together and read book one before you read this one. A warning about being a pearl clutcher and not reading this book ever still stands, as it did for the first book, except this one should also contain a warning for people who read while they eat. Don’t. You will either choke, or you will spit/snort your food while you read. I tried it and I’m speaking from my personal lived-in experience. Don’t. Just don’t. And for those who have read book one and now are waiting for book two: it will be out in a month. End of April. And if you thought that our darling book twins got unhinged beyond reason and unraveled into a tangled mess of whateverness in the first book, then you are in for a huge surprise. Because, as it turns out, they can do more unhingedness and do some more unraveling which somehow turns into a neat raveling of knots and then – yeah. Well. Yeah. It ends up taking you (me, that is, as I was the one reading it now) to a whole new level of madness – a madness that is so satisfying to read, and somehow it also is so, so logical and rational. The ending implies that there might be book three someday. Maybe. Or maybe not. There were no cliffhangers though, and the ending was oddly satisfying on so many levels. But I can see the story going on in at least one more wild book. I’m sure the girls – all of them – could have so much more fun now. And I’d be there for it. Oh, and then there were twists. When you think you have had all the action and all the twists already, more of them come in. Also, did I say that the level of hilarious is off the charts? If you have a sick sense of humor, that is. If you like to laugh about rainbows, and unicorns, and sugar, and spice, and everything nice, then this one might seriously disturb you though. Ohhh, and be careful who you recommend this one to, and how you do the recommending. Be prepared to answer some weird ass questions if you do – especially if you recommend it to the wrong person. Like, have you been taking your meds?
p.s. also, both books are perfect for those who prefer books with zero spice. Zero. None at all. I looked. There wasn’t any. Not even a trace of it.
This sequel did not come to play. I opened this book thinking I’d read a few chapters and suddenly I’m 200 pages in, jaw clenched, eyes burning, and mentally filing Sidney under “characters I should not love as much as I do.” Nicki Grace said, “Let’s raise the stakes, ruin the peace, and drag these girls back into chaos” — and she delivered.
We pick up two years after the first book, and just when Sidney and Clara start pretending life is normal again, here comes a new nightmare — and this time, the danger is personal, calculated, and absolutely deranged. There’s a new serial killer in town, and he has plans that are so twisted you almost want to look away… but you can’t, because the writing won’t let you.
Sidney is still that perfect blend of sarcastic, damaged, and terrifyingly capable — and I adore her for it. Clara, on the other hand, is trying so hard to be the soft one, the stable one, the normal one… and life says “lol, no.” Their sister bond is messy, loyal, traumatized, and somehow still funny in the sickest way possible. I loved that.
And then there’s Not Dan. That man is nightmare fuel wrapped in a lab coat and duct tape. The chapters from his POV? Unsettling in the best way.
The pacing is wild, the tension spikes constantly, and the twists feel like someone yanked the rug out from under me and then set the rug on fire. The dark humor? Perfect. The violence? Graphic, but intentional. The ending? Let’s just say the door is wide open for book three and I am already standing outside like “hey, hurry up.”
Nicki Grace has that rare talent where she can make you laugh at the exact moment you realize you're in danger — and I respect the hell out of it.
Five stars. Disturbing, addictive, unforgettable. I’m officially obsessed with this series and I’m not even sorry.
Please read this series if you're a thriller lover.
Oh My Goodness!!!! I absolutely love the plot of this series!!! The suspense, the thrills, the twists, the mystery!!! I need to know who HE is!!!!! It's killing me to not know. I think I know... but I guess I have to wait to find out. Sidney kidnaps a man and has him held up in her basement but gets kidnapped by a serial unaliver, Not Dan. The man in her basement is running out of time and oxygen and she needs to get back to him to get the information she needs from him before it's to late, but before she can do that, she needs to find a way for her and Clara to escape the killer. Not Dan is quite an interesting character. There's a lot to unpack there with him. But the ending.... oh my god!!! I loved that ending. It was so darkly twisted, I didn't see that coming. I even had to go back and read it again to make sure I was fully comprehending what was happening. I highly recommend giving this series a read!!! Excellent writing and captivating story. Absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series.!
This book was ok. I would give it between 2.5 - 3 stars. I will admit I didn't read the first book, the plot of the second book sounded better so I took a chance. It was confusing at first with the sisters and I almost put the book down but I was intrigued by the plot.
Not Dan and his dolls were the best part of the book. It gave me similar vibes to one of my favorite books (the Butterfly garden). There was so much promise in the plot but I felt the author rushed the story and honestly the sisters drove me nuts. I hated the dialogue between them, Clara was so whiny and I really didn't like Barbara for being a psychologist she wasn't very smart. The character development was weak... and the epilogue ugh!!!
There was so much potential for this book and it was a major let down. Also the author didn't leave a big hook to connect the third story to the villain in this story... other than her note. I wanted more from the plot and from Not Dan and other guy's story and actions. The whole part with Nathan was weird and felt out of place.
It's a quick read but overall the book was meh.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Oooohhh, Yes!! A Great sequel, and leaves you excited for more 🤘 Just keeps getting darker and twistier. Do Not read this unless you've read book 1, "The Twisted Damsel".
The opening did a great job setting you up and filling you in from the last book .
I really liked getting a more in depth look at the relationship dynamics between Clara and Barbara and between "the twins". And more details about "their" disorder. Minus the handful of grammar and punctuation errors, that were at times distracting, this sequel did not disappoint. I was also excited to learn that we get a 2.5 and then 2 more in the series 🤩
I have a theory based on something dropped in one of Barbara's chapters that I'm excited to see if it pans out. 🤔 And I totally called 'number three ' 😁🤫 Can't wait to see how that goes in the next book 🫣😝
Sidney and Clara have started to heal after their recent ordeal and have moved in with Clara’s best friend Barbara. However, Sidney has attracted some unwanted attention and ends up in a nightmare where she is the hunted rather than the hunter. What happens when a serial killer abducts a serial killer? When the abductee is Sidney, you’ve got to feel sorry for the other guy.
Nicki Grace returns with more wild adventures from Sidney and Clara and like the first book, The Twisted Damsel, the pacing is fast, the writing is brutal, and Sidney is completely unhinged. Even the epilogue had my jaw on the floor!
If you enjoy quick, tense, and sharp writing then you’ll definitely want to check this one out! Treat yourself to the gorgeous full color edition. Trust me.
I didn’t see Nathan being crazy tbh but loved it. Clara baby girl the deer in headlights for real! If the man give creepy vibes 100000/100 mean he’s creepy! I can’t wait to get introduced to Gia! I had a feeling Clara was tripping in the white room because Not Dan didn’t keep multiple hostages, he killed 1 at a time and then we never saw or knew what happen after Gia left the room. I hope Nathan and Sidney have a couples killing for my heart lol but I’m curious to see the tie in with Gia , Clara and Sidney since we know Clara was created because Sidney couldn’t let her memory go. But Gia? Was she created from Clara because she never felt strong enough or a merge between the two!? Can’t wait.
