He swore he’d never fall in love again. She didn’t think she was worthy of it.
Connor, a grumpy construction worker with a heart hardened by loss, is certain he’ll never open himself up to love again. After losing the woman he thought was his forever, he buried his heart and focused on his work to fill the days. After a new project brings him face-to-face with someone he never thought he’d see again, everything he thought he knew about love is challenged, pushed, and contradicted.
Emma has spent years hiding behind walls she built to protect herself from rejection. Struggling with diabetes, she’s always felt like she was never quite good enough, more a bother than anything else. When she meets Connor one night thinking she’d never see him again, something stirs deep inside her that she can’t ignore.
Intended for mature audiences, The Right Time To Jump is a BDSM novella romance showing you that when you open yourself up, you might just find what you were looking for all along.
The Right Time to Jump is the second novella in the Easton Brothers series, and once again Bell Landers has blown me away!
I didn't think I could possibly like another brother more than I like Tyler from book one. Boy, was I wrong! Connor is mysterious, broody and oh, so yummy! Not only is he an interesting character but he's got a deep back story and a heartbreaking reason for closing himself off from love.
Emma had a rough childhood, with only her brother to call family and friend. As a diabetic, Emma has struggled with feeling like she's good enough, and not wanting to be a burden on anyone else. She's easy to relate to with her insecurities, and I also love how open she is with exploring her sexuality.
Together, their chemistry and banter is fantastic. Bell never fails to make me giggle with her witty dialogue and the realness of her characters. Her level of spice is just perfect, and the pacing is wonderful. Sure, these are novellas but they don't feel rushed and I feel like I still got enough time to really know and love the characters.
I've had the honour of reading both Easton Brothers books multiple times and am excited to see what's next with Sean! Will he top the other two brothers? I can't wait to find out!
thanks to bell landers for letting me read the e-arc of her short book 💖
I liked it a lot, I was satisfied with the narration and the BDSM situation, those 10 chapters conveyed enough to me, I really liked Connor's personality, who was apparently a Black cat but is actually super cute and attentive, and I love that he cares from the beginning but also knows how to defend 🙂↕️and command 🫵🏼,Emma with her bitchy side but also wanting to be controlled 🛐🥵 I loved it, now I want to know what else is in store for the next brother 🫦💖
Another must-read from Bell! Connor is the second Easton brother and determined to avoid relationships and love after he suffered a major heartbreak. With his gruff exterior and commanding presence, Emma finds him attractive but . They work together on a project but when Emma falls ill, the tender side of Connor comes out and I was swooning.
I loved the diabetes representation and how it carefully explained. Emma is a strong character who has a similar problem with dating as most people; we want a partner who cares for us and considers our needs.
The grief and isolation on Connor's part stemming from his past had me teary-eyed. Both characters suffered heavy emotional battles as kids/teens and they found a way to heal each other. Ugh, not me tearing up again writing this 😅
The BDSM/spicy parts were steamy and the use of safe words and other elements was great. The Right Time to Jump needs to be on TBRs immediately.
thank you Bell Landers for allowing me to be an ARC reader for this book!
it is short. sweet, and to the point! this fast paced book is very well written and great for a quick read!
I absolutely loved Conner and his way of being exactly what Emma needed! I also love that Emma's brother was so protective of her but he was able to go back to just being a brother after he learned Conner was a good person and not going to hurt her
Bell has done a fantastic job on this story, the second in her Easton Brothers series. She builds a dramatic storyline with not only good character work but emotional plotlines that I as a reader found easy to connect to. The story is powerful, the spicy smut scenes intense, and this is an amazing follow up story. I read an arc copy but already have it preordered and would review it either way.

The Right Time to Jump is a short, spicy novella that focuses on the second Easton brother, Conner Easton, and designer Emma Flynn, whose mutual attraction explodes into a cacophony of passion and unearths secrets that both Conner and Emma tried to keep buried. The story delves into topics of suicide, mental health, diabetes, feelings of isolation and guilt, but it also keeps to theme with the hot erotic scenes between Emma and Conner. Landers did an incredible job with putting plot and smut together to create an amazing second installment to her series!
CHARACTERS
EMMA: Emma is the protagonist of the story, and Landers makes a note to say that she doesn't describe the physical appearance of her MCs so that the reader can insert themself into the narrative, which I liked! Emma is diabetic, but she doesn't make being diabetic her personality, and despite moments of fragility, she's strong and capable of supporting herself. One thing I noticed is that Emma describes herself as a 'brat' in a BDSM relationship. I don't know much about the subcategories of BDSM, but personally, the brat archetype isn't my personal favorite, and I found some of her responses to Conner to be a little over the top. Even when she recovers from her blood sugar dropping at the hospital, I was slightly annoyed at her crass response to the doctor's orders, but I also understand that she's used to these commands and they can get annoying 😅Overall, I liked how she adapted to situations and proved her capabilities. I have a new favorite FMC!
CONNER: OMG where do I begin with Conner? Between him and Emma, I think Conner had the most development! I won't give any spoilers, but the way his character's backstory was so freshly created and executed was done extremely well! Nothing felt out of place and everything made sense. Just like with Emma, Landers didn't describe Conner's physical appearance, but as a Daddy construction worker, it's safe to assume he's quite handsome 😜Everything about Conner is just so delicious, from his grumpy disposition to his 'touch-her-and-die' attitude toward Emma!
THE PLOT
Since this is a novella, there isn't much of an in-depth plot, but there is a plot! The story circles around Emma and Conner working on a construction project together, but quickly shifts to Emma neglecting her diabetes and pushing her and Conner together when she needs to rely on him. While I would have loved to see them interact more through their work, I like that Landers focuses on the characters and has their personal issues develop the plot! I would have loved to see more spicy scenes, but they were placed perfectly in between the plot!
THE SPICE
Okay, the spice was SPICING!! Although there weren't many scenes of it, Conner really brought out his Daddy side, and Emma was quick to cave! I wish we saw more of her brat side when they were in the bedroom, but holy moly it was incredible! Conner knew exactly what he wanted and knew exactly what to do & say to get what he wanted! Watching Emma melt into Conner was so surreal, and I LOVED how Conner would check in on her to make sure she was doing okay!
THE TRIGGERS
Okay, so there are quite a few triggers, mainly with mentions of parental neglect and a side-character who committed su*cide in a backstory, but as will all of Lander's books, please be sure to keep in mind these triggers! There are also scenes of breath play and spanking.
╚══ஓ๑♡๑ஓ══╝
Overall, I loved this book! I've been waiting to read it for so long since I missed the ARC call for the first book in the series. This is a definite must read! If you're looking for something short and spicy for a trip, this book is for you! I can't wait to read Sean's story - I love me a good doctor romance :D
I'll preface this review with the fact that I have a brief but lived experience of what a healthy Daddy/Little bond is supposed to look like and had a parent who suffered T2 Diabetes.
Dear reader or author, if you're reading this review, know that this doesn't come from a place of hate but a place of respect and need for better representation.
Let's look at the positives first and what it improved from Easton Brothers Book 1 because that deserves praise too: - Clear warning to not replicate the scenes beyond the minor description in author's note - The BDSM was risky and more explicit but it was handled with more care than the previous time
Now, about the things that threw a curve at me: - T1 Diabetes: You'd think that a character who has lived her whole life with T1 diabetes (making it a chronic condition) would have sound knowledge of when her blood sugar is low and even if she forgot once (because yes, we're humans and mistakes happen), beyond the candies and the salad, she didn't have anything else. Someone with T1 Diabetes would be more careful than eating just salad and calling it a day. Let's assume she is not able to financially work through to have a proper meal, then she would have anything beyond the basic candy + salad combination to keep her sugar in check. It's unrealistic—even for fiction. - Fainting™: Fainting once was believable, but fainting twice? That's a health hazard. It puts the years of experience she has had with diabetes under the bridge and makes her come across as a character who has no agency for herself even when she's supposed to be "strong" to prove why she needs Connor. Like, her casually forgetting how to function because Connor's around to the extent that even her muscle memory fails her? The very fact that he has to come "save" her in order to establish the Daddy/Little relationship is very upsetting to me because it comes across as "I'm slipping under quicksand even when I have always lived on quicksand and I need you to save me because I want you to" and not "I am choosing you because I want to be cared for and sometimes mistakes happen but I want you to be there in case things go wrong." - Emma's loss of Autonomy: The way her brother and Connor make decisions for her (anyone would be worried if a person faints twice) without asking if she needs assistance with her current management plan comes across as mansplaining over her autonomy, self agency and self advocacy. She has years of experience—which was somehow only shown as a passive narrative device rather than showing how she actively manages even before Connor's in the picture. If she has experience, she shouldn't need him to sit her down like she's a child and take care of everything. It diminishes the struggle and experiences of countless people who live with T1D. - The way Daddy/Little bond is established: I couldn't help but feel that they were set into the archetypes of Daddy and Little from page zero—before they were even introduced. Their character arcs felt flat and the only person I could feel for was when Connor read the letter of Clair and she wasn't in the picture but somehow, she felt like the only person who breathed life into what could've otherwise been a orbitting around set circles story.
Overall, this is a great BDSM story but perhaps, the chronic condition shouldn't have been explored if it was going to be actively erased under the plot device conditions.
This review is a single point perspective and does not represent the opinion of en masse. I hope to see better development in the upcoming books and better handling of sensitive topics. But beyond it all, I am grateful to receive this ARC copy and I'm proud of what the author has achieved so far and wish her the best of success!
I received an ARC of The Right Time to Jump in exchange for an honest review—and wow, this story hit me right in the heart.
Connor and Emma’s journey is raw, emotional, and beautifully messy in all the right ways. Both are scarred by their pasts—Connor with a heartbreak that left him closed off, and Emma with health struggles and deep-rooted insecurities—but together, they learn to JUMP. To take that terrifying, beautiful leap toward love, healing, and trust.
Connor Easton owns my heart. The way he struggles to let go of the past and open himself up to Emma felt so real. His protectiveness, especially around Emma’s health, was heart-touching. If he could have spoon-fed her every carb in the kitchen to keep her safe, he probably would have. And his nickname for her, “Little Fighter,” is perfect. 🥹🤌🏻
Emma is strong, sassy, stubborn, and so incredibly brave. She faces life head-on, even when it's painfully unfair.
The BDSM elements are present, yes, but this book is not just about smut. The emotional depth, the character arcs, the moments of vulnerability and growth—they shine. But when the smut hits? It’s hot, filthy, and raw, while still rooted in connection and consent.
And can we talk about Tyler 'Daddy' Easton for a second? Every time he picked up the phone with, “You in jail AGAIN?”, I was cackling. The man is chaos and comic relief in the best way. I loved seeing him again—it made the book feel like a warm reunion.
This book beautifully balances emotional healing, mental health, found family, and spicy romance. I can’t wait to read Sean’s story next—my ARC reader heart is full and ready!
The Right Time to Jump is the second novella in the Easton Brothers series and is just as good if not better than the first.
Connor is such a gem of a man. He may be grumpy but when we learn of his past and why I couldn't help but melt after the heart wretching story. He was running from love and that was understandable from past trauma. I really liked Tyler in the first book and Connor is right up there with him as far as book boyfriend material.
Emma has had a really rough childhood and her brother basically raised her and helped her with her diabetes from the beginning. She's and independent and stubborn woman. She does have some insecurities from past relationships not meeting her standards on her sexuality preferences.
Connor and Emma together are so cute and sassy. Definitely has that grumpy meets sunshine vibe. He wants to take care of her and she's wanting someone to do just that. I loved their witt and the banter between them. Definitely had quite the spice!
Even though this is a novella it has good pacing and speed so it doesn't feel so rushed. It was a sweet, emotional ride of a series always worth reading. I love the issues they always touch base on and go into some level of sexuality as well. It opens you up to understanding different things and I love that. I can't wait to read Sean's book!
The Right Time to Jump is book number two in the Easton Brothers series and is the story of Connor and Emma. This is a stranger to lovers, found family, BDSM novella with a strong, possessive MMC and feisty FMC.
Emma has been hiding behind walls she erected to protect herself from rejection due to her type 1 diabetes diagnosis. After dumping her latest fling, Emma heads to a bar to explore a side of herself she is just discovering. When her ex decides to show up and make a scene, a tall stranger puts him in his place. Thinking she will never see him again, he is all Emma can fantasize about.
Connor co-owns a construction company working on a project that brings him face to face with the woman he stepped in to help at a bar. He never thought he would see her again and now he can't get her out of his mind.
This is a great story of accepting that you are more than your diagnosis and that an illness does not define your life. Connor shows Emma that she is not a bother or an inconvenience and Emma opens Connor's eyes to the possibility that love does not always leave or fail us. There is a lot of emotions and depth to this movella and the characters themselves as well as the side characters.
I highly recommend this sweet novella that may melt your Kindle with the spicy BDSM aspects of the story and the satisfying HEA for Emma and Connor.
Wow what a novella! I thoroughly enjoyed this novella and its precursor "A safe place to fall" as an introductory series to BDSM. I would term this as soft BDSM but still very very enjoyable with a great back story. Its not all spice from the start, the novel pulls you in with the main characters relationship and how they gravitate together- kept me intrigued and I read this in one sitting. The medical condition of the FMC was very well written and how the MMC changes from a grumpy co-worker to a cinnamon daddy for her was great! I love the "brother" link and am really looking forward to the rest of the series. I am rating this 5 stars. Thank you Bell Landers for allowing me to arc read The right time to Jump. All comments are my own.
This was the first book I have read that hardly gave descriptions of the characters. It allowed you to envision who you wanted to be as Emma and Connor. The book is also a short read but it was packed. I didn’t want to put it down.
With the short amount of time it took reading, I became invested. Especially that moment Connor talking to his brother Tyler. Ugh the pain he felt.
Who in the world wouldnt want a guy like Connor? Wowzers! He is great with Emma and they make such a cute couple. They balance each other!
Please check the trigger warnings which are clearly mentioned at the beginning of the book.
I loved it! I think the pacing was done very well especially with it being a novella. I liked seeing how their pasts impacted them, their relationships with each other and others. I really really enjoyed the moments between siblings (Connor with his brothers and Emma with Jake) and I really love that by the end he(Jake) gets to just be her brother now and they get to have that relationship.
This was done very well in the first book as well but I love the emphasis that’s always put on making sure everything is safe and consensual by asking for her safe word, limits, etc before they actually do anything.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Bell has done it again! This series keeps getting better and better.
Connor and Emma’s relationship was hot, sweet and healing. Connor, being a grump has a lot in his closet that prevents him from wanting to open himself up. Emma, struggling with diabetes and bad parents always thought she was a bother.
Connor’s caring nature kicks in when he sees Emma almost past out and as they say, the rest is history 😍
Both of them taking the “jump” and talking about their pasts is such a tender moment between them.
Then…. Things get heated 🥵. Connor did not disappoint, Mr daddy!
I loved seeing the other brothers as well and I’m so excited to see where Sean goes.
Connor Fucking Easton. I absolutely loved Connor just like I thought I would when I fell in love with him in book 1. The Easton brothers are everything a girl wants and more. The way Connor just wants to protect and absolutely take care of Emma makes me weak.
Bell did it again, with making me completely fall for her MMC. This story is a novella, and I definitely wanted more, but with that being said for how short it is I think the author did an amazing job with having just the right ratio of plot to smut!
I absolutely am invested in every Easton brother at this point, and I can NOT wait for the next brother!!
After reading A Safe Place to Fall as an ARC, I was super excited to be able to do her next book as an ARC as well.
So far Connor is my favorite Easton brother!! Oh boy!
The second novella is about Connor and Emma. Emma being a diabetic, plus her family history, and Connors *past" made for a great (quick) read and a sweet story.
There is a BDSM theme but it's not "too much," and it's done well, and not excessively spicy. Daddy/Little
She ties it in with the first book but these can be read as a standalone as well.
I loved every page of it and how Emma and Connor found eachother after all. Fate has funny ways to work sometimes 😅
They know what they wanted but they also got what they needed. Connor to heal and stop running while Emma to learn to let go and let someone take care of you. Because we don't need to be so independent all the time 😉
Thank you for Bell for letting me read this book and will deffo pick up the next one too.
I received this book as an ARC and will give my honest opinion.
Oh, how I love Conner and Emma together. They bring out so much in each other and help each other.
Emma goes out one night to a bar, and an old hook up shows up. He starts calling her names and just being rude. Here comes Conner to the rescue. They part ways after that thinking they'll never see each other again. Only to find out they are working on a project together. The banter between the two is great. She soon finds out he's into something that she is also into 😉😉
"You're mine. And I'm going to make sure you feel it tomorrow with every step you take."
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review! . . . I LOVED this book! I read the first one and devoured it and the second one was even better! The characters were so intriguing and broken in their own ways — which I can relate to. The storyline was so well done and I loved all the spicy scenes!🥵🥵
Highly recommend this one when it releases in June!
“Because to be loved by Conner Easton is like living a million happy lives in one day.”
This book y’all. This was my second read through and I’m still just as much amazed at the amazing writing of this book. I was still crying I was still laughing. I love how especially with it being a novella you’re getting a good mix of plot and smut. I can’t wait to see what’s next
I had the opportunity to ARC read this novella and I enjoyed this read. It was interesting that Bell chose not to describe the characters in detail to allow us to decide what they looked like. The spice was done well however I would have liked to see the daddy/little explored further. Overall I think it was a sweet story and I will be reading about the rest of the brothers.
All I can say is CONNOR F******EASTON! This is the second Novella in the Easton brother series and it’s another winner. Bell Landers definitely knows what she is doing with this series. I instantly fell in love with Connor and he may be my new favorite (Sorry Tyler!). But with that said I cannot wait to continue with this series.
I can't get over just how much plot is in these books. For such a quick read its still deep enough to feel like a complete story. Medium spice, and insta love/ obsession is always a win for me, but having it also well written is just such a bonus. Really enjoyed dthis one and cannot wait to read the next.
I'm reading these all out of order, but loving them. This one was so good and I finished it faster than I thought I would. Emma and Connor..... their dynamic *chefs kiss*. I'm absolutely loving the Easton brothers now and can't wait for the next stories to come out.
Did I really read that? Oh my god, I did. I did read that. It's a quick read especially when the story line is pulling you in. What is not to love about Connor and Emma?! I’m definitely looking forward to reading about each brother. I could say more but I don’t want to spoil it!
I enjoyed reading about Connor and Emma and the difficulties they faced that help shape them. I am so excited and can't wait to read about the other brothers. Hopefully there's a spinoff for Emma's brother Jake. You will not regret reading this book.
