“Nothing about us is wrong. Nothing about what we do is wrong. Love is never wrong.”

I’ve never been in love before. Falling in love was never on my mind...until eight weeks ago. I thought we had a chance, but then everything changed, because the person I fell in love with is not who I thought they were. That’s on me, I should have paid more attention, because now I'm hurt and confused. Everything is in shambles, and I don't know what to do.

My head says it's wrong, but my heart wants Micki. I've always followed my head, but my heart has never beaten this hard for anyone.

What do you do when the person you want is everything you've been told you can’t have, even if they’re everything your heart desires?

Raindrops is a love-is-love-story between the femmiest of femme boys, Micki, and ladies’ man Mathéo. Their story is sweet and spicy, heartfelt and painful, with a hard earned but heart-melting HEA.

Znowu przeczytałam niemalże na pojedynczym posiedzeniu i znowu skończyłam po nocy 😁

* * * * * * *
I ponownie - Spoilery!!! 😜
* * * * * * *

Micki i Mathéo, femboy i fuckboy (autorka to nazwała ładniej: femmiest of femme boys and ladies’ man 😉).

Prawda?

“My head is constantly telling me that it is wrong to think about you, to miss you, but my heart tells me that nothing in my life has ever felt as right as you.”
Tears well up in my eyes and a pathetic whimper slips out faster than I can press my hand over my mouth. “And what does that mean?”
“I don’t know.” Mathéo’s voice is low and agonized. “I have no idea. What I know is that I miss you and that I want to be with you. But... I’ve never been with... a man. I don’t know if I can do it.”

"Ah, damn it! My head keeps telling me in no uncertain terms that I’m making the biggest mistake of my life, but my body keeps searching for his. My fingers on his fingertips, my hand in the small of his back, standing as close to him as possible. So close that I can smell him. The minty scent of his hair and the lemony scent in his perfume. Both scents that would also work on a woman. Sometimes my brain wants to play a trick on me and rub the female Micki in my face. But that’s wrong. Micki is a man—no clothes, make-up or scent will change that. It would be complete nonsense too. He’s absolutely perfect. No, I still don’t understand why I feel this way about a man and yes, I’m still overcome with panic, and I’d love to run out of the apartment from time to time, but I don’t because I understand that my heart can’t let go of Micki. Of him as a human being, regardless of gender or sex".

"I’m kissing Micki. I’m kissing a man. I was so sure it would feel different, or weird. I was so scared. Scared that my body would find repulsive what my heart craved so badly. But instead, it feels like coming home.
That one moment when our lips touch, everything in my head falls into place, and all my fears and doubts are gone".

"My heart wants this, but my head is asking me if I still have all my wits about me and reminding me about what a fucking faggot I’ve become because I want to lie in bed half-naked with a guy. Be a man Mathéo. Men don’t listen to their hearts, men only listen to their heads. I don’t want to listen to my head".

I startle when two hands reach under my arms and place themselves on my flat chest, firmly and deliberately. “Your body isn’t the problem, Micki. My head is. I constantly hear my father’s voice and... and it’s very hard not to believe him, not to obey.” Mathéo’s hands tremulously wander down my flanks and then forward over my belly button. “I like your body. I like that it’s so firm, so petit.”
“What does your father say? In your head?” Do I really want to know?
“Right now?” I nod. “I don’t want to hurt you. My father’s an asshole.”
“You were too. I’m not sensitive.”
Mathéo shakes his head with a smile. “That’s exactly what I love about you.” My heart leaps at his words. “I’ve already told you a bit, so you should have the basic idea.”
Mathéo’s father is a first-class patriarchal asshole. He runs his family and his company with a firm and unyielding hand; image is all that matters. I understand that I wouldn’t fit in, that Mathéo and I wouldn’t fit in together. “He is like You can’t be with a man. What would our business partners think. Nobody takes a fag seriously. Get your shit together and stop being so fucking selfish. Be a man and think about the family, about our legacy..., something like that. Nobody disagrees with my father without consequences, nobody. But I won’t let anyone take you away from me. Never.”

Arc Review

Micki Stättler loves dancing, and due to his feminine nature, often takes the role of a women while dancing. He loves his job as a physical therapist, but he finds love lacking in his life. He tends to fall hard and fast and inevitably has his heart broken.
At a friend’s wedding he catches the eye of Mathéo and there is a connection.

Mathéo Gaillard has had a harsh upbringing courtesy of his father and his beliefs. Being constantly verbally abused, as does not want any son of his being a ‘sissy’ and embarrassing him. Mathéo considers himself straight, so when he catches eyes with Micki at a wedding, he immediately thinks she is intriguing.
Over the next few moths Mathéo and Micki chat back and forth on the phone and video calls, getting to know each other. Mathéo still believes Micki is a woman, and he has fallen for her charms. That is until Mathéo discovers that Micki is actually a man. Mathéo is devastated and he doesn't know how to process the feelings, that he has fallen for a man.

This is Mimi Rhine’s second novel I have read, and just like the first, I loved it, maybe more so. The way she wrote Mathéo and Micki falling in love was such a beautiful thing, and so well written. Once he has come to terms with falling for a man, he was all in. She made your heart hurt for Mathéo for the vile way his father treated him. His father was a truly abhorrent character, whom I loathe.
This is such a unique and special story. I would highly recommend reading it. I loved it.

This book was fantastic, so freaking good.
Mathéo fell in love with who he thought was a woman but it turned out it was a man. It wasn't easy for him to reconcile everything but he got there eventually because he loved Micki, no matter what gender he was.
I loved Micki, he was patient and understanding towards Mathéo circunstances and he never made him feel inadequate and bad for being slow in their intimacy.
These two loved each other so much, it was really beautiful to watch. They never gave up on the other and were always there for each other too, no matter what

What a wonderfully beautiful story, I loved how it all started with Matteo mistaking Micki to be female. Their connection was so beautiful to read, and so very real with their insecurities and how they navigate these. I especially loved how open Matteo was with Micki, about his feeling and emotions throughout the book, as he navigates being with a man, he just laid it all out there, warts & all! I Loved it.

This book has a lovely gentle pace and definitely kept me engaged as Matteo & Micki’s relationship develops, traversing through their highs and lows together.

Highly recommended book xx

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Matteo is stuck in a job he doesn’t really like but was forced into by his būlľy, verbally ǎbūsive father. What ever Matteo did growing up was never good enough in his father’s eyes, he wasn’t even allowed to ever cry, as he deemed it “not manly enough”. So he now trudges along, wearing a fake persona, jumping from one bed to the next, never really connecting with anyone and staying away from his father as much as he can. The only person that ever really came close to his ideal woman, was Niki, who is now with another man about to marry.

Invited to Niki & Élias wedding, he decides to go alone, instead of dragging a random girl along and giving false hope at a relationship. He’s so glad he does when this beautiful woman drags him to the front stage to join others for a performance dance by her. She gorgeous, tall, very slim & slender, hardly any curves, defined arms, as if she’s an athlete and he wants to get to know her more, she’s just his type.

They part ways after the wedding but he can’t forget about her, so tracks her down. Together they start communicating via instagram, then onto video chats, where they play a game via an app, where they ask randomly generated questions to each other. His feels for her grow so much over their daily video chats, she perfect.

Only one ill fated question comes up and everything changes!!

Micki is a fëmme male dancing in an all female dance crew. He’s proud of who he is, an openly gäy man who loves to wear fëmínine outfits, jumpsuits especially, that hug his slender figure. When Matteo first makes contact with him, he presumes there must be a mistake, I mean Micki’s openly a gäy man, how can a man who sľeeps with so many woman want to be with him?? But their connection is very really and Micki, although hesitant is drawn to him. Over the months they get on brilliantly together, laughing, sharing secrets, confessions and insecurities with each others, Micki falls head over heels in love with Matteo.

When one particularly question on their nightly quiz game comes up about siblings, Matteo’s reply to Micki’s answer sends him tailspinning!!!

Matteo doesn’t understand what’s gone wrong after their video call and now he’s not answering his calls, so decides to visit Micki in person. Micki arranges to meet Matteo at a cáfe, where unfortunately a friend makes an ill fated comment which now sends Matteo tailspinning.

Micki is male!!!!

Matteo and Micki are both devastated at the loss of each other. Matteo needs to get his head around the facts, and for him the fact is…….he can’t not have Micki in his life!!

They quiet a few issues between them, Matteo has never been with a man, so is unsure how to proceed, not emotionally as that has always been easy between them, but physically. Micki needs to learn that Matteo isn’t going to jump ship and leave him at every turn.

They have a stumble along the way, however in the end their love is just too strong to keep them apart, even when a little bundle is handed to them!!

Raindrops

Oh Mimi this was such a surprise! I’ll admit I went into the book blind, it’s my favorite so I was a bit confused that Matheo kept referring to Micki as a woman. I had to double check and make sure I was reading correctly, I was and figured it out quickly. Their story was so different I honestly haven’t read anything like it. Having Matheo not realize Micki is a man and having him fall for Micki before he realizes it was a really fun and at times funny ride. I kept thinking oh you sweet sweet man are in for such a surprise. I loved the sensitivity and openness of Micki he knows who he is and he just wanted to be loved, and Matheo had to really fight his inner voice to realize gender doesn’t matter when it comes to the person you fall for. But once Matheo was in he was all in and nothing was going to stop him from being with the one person he has ever fallen for! Micki was so understanding and I loved how they went slow with their physical intimacy it just made the whole story so much more realistic and relatable. I loved how they fought for each other, accepted each other, and loved each other. It was perfect!
On a side note, the translation in this one was so good! Mimi’s writing gets better and better. Raindrops was such an effortless and easy read. And as always the big jump forward at the end is what I’ve now come to look forward to!

ARC review - Raindrops by Mimi Rhine

This book somehow manages to be both low-angst and high-angst at the same time... like, deeply internalized angst. And it was brilliant.
Heartwarming, hurtful, healing — all layered under a beautiful story about acceptance, unlearning forced beliefs, and choosing yourself and your happiness.

Disclaimer:
I haven’t read any of Mimi’s previous books, so I went into this with a clean slate. Maybe if I had, I would’ve had some lingering dislike for Mathéo. But honestly? To me, he was just your classic playboy — careless with his hookups, sure, but never misleading. That is... until Micki entered the picture.
Micki.
A stunning, unapologetically feminine man who is so comfortable in who he is. Watching Mathéo get absolutely wrecked by his feelings for Micki was everything.

This story really dives deep into how taught behaviors and beliefs shape us — and how hard it can be to unlearn them. Mathéo’s inner fight was painful but powerful. And through it all, he never once gave up on Micki, offering him the steady, unconditional love he deserved.

Expect:

First times

Sexual awakening

Found family

Family drama

Femboy main character

Reformed playboy

Long-distance romance

At its heart, Raindrops is about personal growth, redemption, breaking free from toxic conditioning, and finding true acceptance.

Reading the story of these two boys was a real joy, even if at some moments it made me shed a few tears.
Micki and Mathéo are both broken in their own way: they carry scars in their souls because of past sufferings, even if of a different nature.
Micki, in any case, has always been able to enjoy the unconditional love and support of his family, and he is a very sweet ray of sunshine that shines on everyone around him, including Mathéo, who for the first time in his life allows someone to get close to him.
After an initial misunderstanding, the relationship between these two young men develops beautifully.

The feeling that blossoms between them is a deep and sincere love , devoted to respect, communication and mutual understanding. The love scenes are filled with great passion and intimacy and represent very well the feeling between the two protagonists.
There will be some bumps to overcome but Micki and Mathéo will make it together: their well-deserved happy ending is one of the sweetest and most satisfying I have ever read.
The author has a unique delicacy in her writing and I will not fail to follow her next books.

**4.5**
Raindrops is an excellent follow on from Bluebird, and gives readers the chance to get to know Micki and Matheó.
The main plot line for this is Matheó not knowing that Micki is male when they first meet and subsequently talk online. Micki has always been feminine in looks and fashion style (though no skirts or dresses), as well as taking female roles in the dance group he's in. Matheó has never been with a man, and has never had a problem being with women. what he is known for is being an a**hole. That's not who Micki gets to know, though. The man he knows is hurting, insecure and lonely.
As I have come to expect from Mimi's books, it's an emotional, and occasionally intense, read that is oh so worth it. There is homophobia from a parent, and generally bad parenting, that has caused a lot of problems for Matheó but he eventually reaches the point of thinking for himself and actually acting on that. I really enjoyed the growth of his character and the impact that getting to know Micki before any revelation had on his subsequent actions.
We also get some great interaction with secondary characters (those from Bluebird). There is a huge amount of support from most of them but Nika is understandably wary of Matheó. I was a little annoyed at her lack of care in the way she spoke about her friend, especially with him right there, but I could understand her heart is in the right place.
A fantastic and emotional read that shows standing for yourself and those you love, even against those who are supposed to love you regardless.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

It’s been a while since I had a one sitting read like this! I devoured this book, and stayed up way too late trying to finish it.

I went into this fairly blind. When I saw it was Mathéo’s story I had kinda forgotten who he was. After starting this it clicked, I’m so glad he got a redemption story after Checkerboard Pattern!

Was definitely not expecting the start of the story or the direction it went in. I loved the bi-awakening and the fact Mathéo was certain Micki was a woman. I loved the depth of Mathéo and the explanation of why he behaved the way he did. Micki was the perfect person to pull him out of his own head and help him discover and accept who he was.

At times it can be cheesy but I enjoy that about these books! They can be light and sappy while still covering heavy topics.

5 stars! Thank you Mimi Rhine for this arc!

Update: I finished it. I’ll have to come back and share my thoughts. It was a good story, but it needs a lot of work to be great.

I hate to DNF because the rest of the story seems great (aside from the grammatical errors) but this is still on my mind.

I'm cool with women being villainized in MM books but sections like this about totally random female characters who've done nothing wrong are disgusting.

"Sorry, but you're obviously not doing it for me." I point to my flaccid cock. "You need a bit more practice, then you can try again." It's mean and a lie, but l have no capacity to be nice. The blonde begs and pleas, it's pathetic..."

Why is this necessary to your story? How am I supposed to root for this guy now?

It makes him SO unlikable.

🌧 Raindrops by Mimi Rhine

I have no words other than wow. What a book. 😭💙

I absolutely adored Micki and Mathéo and the rocky, emotional road they travelled to get their HEA. From the moment they met at Nika and Élias' wedding, I felt the spark right alongside them. 💫 But damn—this story isn’t straightforward, and that’s what makes it so special.

Micki… sweet, darling Micki. He’s sunshine ☀️ and softness and so unapologetically himself. Watching him love with such openness—even when he didn’t feel like he was enough to be loved back—just wrecked me. 💔 And Mathéo? That man is heartbreak and quiet intensity, wrapped in emotional armour so tight he doesn’t even realise how much he’s hiding. 🧠 His journey—learning to let someone in, his Micki, to be instead of perform—was so beautifully written.

I’ve said it before, but I’ve never resonated this deeply with characters like I did with these two. There were parts of Micki’s pain that hit far too close to home. 🥺 And parts of Mathéo’s silence? I’ve lived them. It felt personal.

The reveal? The fallout? My heart was in my throat. 😳 But the way they found their way back to each other… that was pure magic. ✨ No rush, no drama for drama’s sake—just honest, steady, real love that felt completely authentic to them. 🥹

What sets Raindrops apart from so many books I’ve read is how real it feels—like I truly knew these characters, like I was there. 🫶 Their story unfolded in such a natural, grounded way. Nothing felt forced, and everything felt earned.

And that ending—the final few chapters?! MIMI. I cried so many happy tears. 😭 The surprises?? The epilogue?? I absolutely screamed at that jump-forward moment. This world she’s building is so full and alive, and I can't wait to read more. 📚 Mimi always knows how to deliver those emotional punches and keep you coming back for more.

Raindrops is going to live rent-free in my heart for a long, long time. 🌈

✨ If you're looking for something that’s gentle, raw, and full of love that feels earned, pick this one up. You won’t regret it. 💖

I’ve never met a couple like Micki and Matheo, which is what makes Raindrops by @mimireads.mimiwrites such an engrossing, compelling read.
A meeting at a friend’s wedding was supposed to be a chance to put a bad boy in his place. But instead it led to mutual attraction and long-distance getting to know you calls.
But for Matheo, it’s an attraction built on a misunderstanding, one Micki doesn’t realize until he’s already in love. How they both get past their preconceived notions of each other is a beautiful journey.
I love how these characters defy labels. They just accept their love - it’s messy and imperfect and theirs.
Micki is a physical therapist who dances with Philip from the excellent Bluebird. He’s a willowy, winsome young man who dresses as he wants - and looks fabulous in anything. Growing up, he had a family who loved and supported him, giving him the strength to be comfortable in his own skin. Even if he has been unlucky in love…
Matheo wasn’t so lucky. He had a subservient mother and domineering, homophobic father who berated Matheo anytime he acted outside his idea of what a man was. It’s no wonder he grew up emotionally closed off and relationship averse.
And then he meets Micki. Matheo is a complicated man, and initially has trouble reconciling his womanizing past with wanting a relationship with a feminine man, but a man nonetheless.
Micki is amazing. I loved his sweet soul, his sense of humor, his loyalty. How he put his own needs aside until Matheo was ready, willing to sacrifice his own happiness to avoid Matheo getting hurt. This generosity gave Matheo the courage to be the man he was meant to be. A man worthy of Micki’s love.
Right when their HEA seems set, life throws our MCs an unexpected surprise. How they deal with this leaves no doubt they were meant to be. And the 25 year later epilogue proves their bond is a strong as ever.
I’m being purposely vague because the way the story unfolds is just so good. This is an emotional story, beautifully told, of love, acceptance, and becoming the person you were meant to be. Mimi’s voice is unique and the characters she creates so memorable. A great read.

It’s rare for a book to grab me so hard that I can’t put it down, but Raindrops by Mimi Rhine did exactly that. I ended up reading it all in one go and lost track of time! I went in with almost no expectations or spoilers, and I think that made the ride even more enjoyable.

Micki and Mathéo’s relationship was such a tender and thoughtful progression. While the spark between them was immediate, what really stood out was how they didn’t rush things. They both recognized something special early on, but instead of jumping in headfirst, they respected each other’s pace and allowed their connection to grow steadily. That kind of patience made their love story feel incredibly authentic and emotionally rich.

Mathéo Gaillard’s childhood was marked by his father’s rigid beliefs and constant verbal abuse, never allowing room for softness or anything he saw as weakness. Raised to reject anything that didn’t fit into his father’s narrow view of masculinity, Mathéo has always identified as straight. When Mathéo spots Micki at a wedding and finds himself drawn in, he’s intrigued, not realizing just how much that one glance will challenge everything he thought he knew about himself.

As the weeks go by, Mathéo and Micki grow closer through countless phone calls and video chats. Their conversations flow effortlessly, and a genuine bond begins to form. Mathéo, unaware of Micki’s true identity, finds himself drawn in more and more with each interaction. But when the truth finally comes out, that Micki is a man, it turns Mathéo’s world upside down. Overwhelmed and conflicted, he’s forced to confront emotions he never expected and question everything he thought he understood about himself and love.

Mathéo and Micki’s happy ending is one of the most heartfelt and rewarding conclusions I’ve come across, it felt so deeply earned and incredibly sweet.

Raindrops by Mimi Rhine is a spinoff to her previous book, Bluebird which I highly recommend picking up, although Raindrops is a standalone novel. This book has mid level angst and heat, a femme boy/dancer and an emotional queer awakening.

We briefly met Micki in Bluebird but we get to know him so much better in Raindrops. He’s gorgeously tall, lithe and spunky. He’s also quick to fall in love and sadly this generally leaves him heartbroken and damaged. When he decides to ask Mathéo if he can dance with him during a wedding, it’s nothing more than that. While he feels that spark and attraction, Mathéo has a reputation nor would he go for someone like Micki.

Mathéo lives up to his reputation. He’s not the commitment type and isn’t about to give anyone false hope. His father raised him to be a cold and distant man, his voice echoing in Mathéo’s head every day. When he meets Micki, he’s stunned. But there’s things he’s doesn’t know about Micki and they might just end things before they ever really get started.

Raindrops was a great addition to this series of novels and I loved Micki and Mathéo’s dynamic. They really had a hard fought HEA with Mathéo not only having to learn new things about himself but overcome much of the hate speech he’d been taught his entire life. Micki was unapologetic in who they are, though throughout the story there’s an internal struggle within Micki that takes a toll on their self esteem and belief. I gave this book 4.5 stars.

I wish I could convince you to go read this without saying anything about it! I honestly think going in blind, like I didn’t even remember the blurb when I started reading made this such a special read 🙏🏼 So if you’re intrigued I’d say stop reading and go read!
Buuut if you need more convincing let me tell you about Micki and Mathéo. They meet at a wedding and Mathéo is instantly intrigued by Micki! Micki hasn’t heard the nicest things about Mathéo, but is also drawn to him. Since they don’t live close they start texting and then talking on the phone and Micki can’t believe there’s finally someone who seems interested. Mathéo grew up with an absolute a-hole for a dad and the scars his teachings have left in him run deep, but Micki sees him for more than his portrayed exterior and the fuckboy everyone considers him to be and so for the first time he falls. When he discovers who Micki really is their budding love seems to have no chance, but Mathéo can’t imagine a life without Micki anymore… is it enough for him to change his entire life ?
This was such a sweet and beautiful story! I absolutely adore Mathéo and the journey he went through! He’s such an example of how once upbringing can effect someone and how hard it can be to shake off the ideas and impressions engrained in you! But he fights and he learns and the way he’s able to be vulnerable and open with Micki and the fierce love between them is so beautiful to witness!
Had such a good time reading this and would absolutely recommend!

Raindrops like teardrops. This author's writing style is simply riveting. I quickly realized that emotionally intense, deeply heart touching plots will be a trademark for Mimi Rhine. This one of the most painful, life altering and hard to accept bi awakenings I have read in the last few months. To find the strength to face your fears, to completely change your thinking and to embrace love even though it didn't come in the "package" someone expects, is honestly really, really a big challenge. But Matheo did it and not just that - he did it beautifully, with grace, maturity and absolute devotion to prove to Micki that love isn't defined by gender or societal expectations. Love just IS - it comes when you don't expect it and the time frame to realize that it's there, is so small, that you have to act fast or forfeit your chance of happiness. When Matheo and Micki met, it was like two completely different worlds faced each other and looked, because meeting someone so different than you is always memorable.
The story isn't easy to read because it touches some very sensitive topics but it's definitely thought provoking and interesting.

I was so happy to receive this ARC, and thoroughly enjoyed this book. Micki and Mathéo's story is so lovely, and I really loved that it wasn't rushed and although they both knew from the start they had met their person, they gave each other the time they needed to be comfortable with being a couple. I have not read the other 2 books which are set before this one but I have added them to my TBR.
My only complaint, and why I didn't give 5 stars, was I found the writing a bit choppy. There were a few times where I was a bit confused what had happened as it jumped around.
But on the whole I loved this story! This sums it up :
(Mathéo)
He’s absolutely perfect. No, I still don’t understand why I feel this way about a man and yes, I’m still overcome with panic, and I’d love to run out of the apartment from time to time, but I don’t because I understand that my heart can’t let go of Micki. Of him as a human being,
regardless of gender or sex.

Raindrops was a beautifully written story with characters that really pulled me in. It was full of emotion, angst, longing and had me all up in my feelings.

Micki & Mathéo meet at mutual friends wedding and there is an immediate spark between them.

They spend quite a bit of time getting to know each other through messages, calls and video chats and both men start to fall hard.

The only problem.. Micki isn’t the person Mathéo thought they were and the devastating fallout was utterly heartbreaking

Raindrops portrayed the best bi-awakening I have ever read. The raw emotion between Mathéo & Micki was intense and I really hurt for these boys while they navigated their feelings towards each other, their fears and accepting that their love was worth everything.

I would recommend this book

Micki Stättler, a lively dancer and physical therapist, often enjoys embodying a feminine persona but encounters frequent heartbreak in love. At a friend's wedding, he meets Mathéo Gaillard, whose past is marked by troubles and who identifies as straight. Over months of chatting, Mathéo falls for Micki, under the impression that Micki is a woman. When Mathéo learns Micki's true identity, he's initially shocked but soon embraces his feelings, defying his father's stern upbringing. This story playfully explores love and identity, making it a delightful read.

Fantastic book about two wonderful characters who learned to live and love by their own rules- I adored them both!

Micki is a man very confident in who is he is - in his career, in his dancing, and his life. Sure, his fluidity confuses some, but he knows his worth and isn't going to settle for less.

Mathéo was raised to believe that men only act a certain way. But Micki forces him to confront his upbringing, and to realize that love is never wrong.

I guess this wasn’t originally written in English and even if it’s not my first language I can tell. It felt like a wattpad story.

I liked the storyline and both MCs were obviously in love (we get it) it was just so .. easy ?

Flashbacks of when he was 2 years old ? One panic attack with a blurb of this is one of the main topics ? Nika.. this character was just the worse and not in a playful evil kind of way.

I will say I did finish this and I usually drop it when it’s bad

2.5 stars. I loved the premise and the idea of it, but execution left something to be desired. I'm doing the .5 because I think maybe it's translated to English and doesn't flow well because of that?
Also, Nika sucked. I will not be reading her story. did not like her even a little.
I got the vision, but didn't love it overall.

The journey to get to their HEA was good. The love story was sweet. The writing seemed abrupt and almost rushed in places. Where other times it switched scenes (instead of it being the next paragraph in the story) and was a bit confusing. It took me out of the story each time it happened.

This was a beautiful story. It really resonated with me as someone who falls for the person as opposed to a gender (hearts not parts). I loved that what mattered most was the connection. This was a great story, and I am going to check out the author's other books now!

I just can’t believe he didn’t recognise him as a man - talking to a person for so long, seeing him without makeup, seeing his instagram…

This is such a beautiful love story. It wasn't flashy or full of drama but it felt real and raw. I felt like I could be reading a story about any two people out in the world right now just trying to live their authentic lives.
It's not an easy read by any means as the book touches on some heavy themes, but seeing these two men fight against the odds to have their HEA makes it really worth the read.

This is beautifully written that was well translated (originally written in German) . I loved the pacing of the book. Matteo and Micki have a great connection and spend 6 months building such a strong love, but they miss a really important detail in their knowledge of each other. Matteo from the day they met that Micki was a woman. When it this happens, Micki is so brokenhearted. He really is a lover and fell so hard for Matteo he really thought he knew. Matteo goes through some serious growth and reflection. Matteo trusts his love for Micki and then goes about proving his love open and freely. Micki is very thoughtful, gentle, patient, and loving with Matteo, while Matteo comes to terms with wanting a man. when they slowly build up to the intimate parts of their relationship, you can really see how much love and trust they have together. they have big feelings and go through so serious trauma, especially Matteo. the really fightfore each other. I loved watching them grow and form a happy, healthy relationship. The writing was captivating and had me feeling everything. I really like the complex journey of this love story. I loved this book and can't wait to read more by this author.

Thank you, Mimi Rhine, for this ACR . These are my honest opinions and feelings

"Raindrops" is a standalone contemporary romance. We follow Matheo and Micki who meet at common friend's wedding. They start texting and video calling and soon get closer and fall in love. What is interesting about their meet cute is that when they first see each other Matheo thinks that Micki is a woman.
Matheo was a very complex and intriguing character. I felt for him and really liked reading about his journey, he grew so so much as person as the story progressed. Micki was absolutely wonderful. So sweet and kind and understanding. I loved them together and I was rooting for them.
I had a wonderful time reading this book, it was a bit angsty at times but I love hurt/comfort so this story just warmed my heart
