Found our old books from when I was kid, and I had forgotten just how awesme these were! I remembered choose your own adventure books -- and how I loved them -- but this was full of puzzles and games as well and I enjoyed it immensely, even this late in life.

Definitely one of the lesser books in the series. But still fun.

Maybe this is a five-star review out of nostalgia, but when I saw this book, I had never seen anything else like this. It was my first Interplanetary Spy book, next to the Choose Your Own Adventures which had gotten stale. And I ate it up, even wondering, at that young age, how people might not figure you, as part of a spy organization, were a ringer to the interplanetary competition. Maybe it took a while for word to get around space.

Your mission is to protect Andromeda, an athlete, from Gresh, a stereotypical bad guy whose greenness oozes through the black-and-white illustrations. There's more plot to this book than most Interplanetary Spy books, with a standoff at the end.

The big treat about Interplantary Spy books is the endings for guessing wrong. Your space sailboat splits in two, or one of Gresh's clones zaps you with a time-warp gun.

Also of note, this book contains the adjective "Boolean" meaning from the planet Boole, where one of the events took place. So I was amused to read about Boolean variables later.

Before taking this book out, I still remembered many cool details such as the Olympic logo of planets together. Though for one branching path that asked you which was the right one, I liked the wrong one better. And that sort of encapsulates the series to me. It's not super-believable, but you don't care. Because it's always fun.

Space Olympics was one of those choice books I didn't want to forget, but the bummer about remembering it was, the puzzles were less exciting. It was a nice dilemma to have.
