Asma'u Shaheedah, is like a young "Maya Angelou" she speaks through her words as well as writes them with such depth, wisdom, keen perception, empathy and empowerment. Her words are raw and intense, catching you by the throat, heart and lungs and forcing you as the reader to wake up and pay attention to what's truly happening through her eyes and her experiences. Pages 20-70 of her poetry book "Solitude" definitely caught my attention everyone of her words leave a "fingerprint" indelibly on the brain. This book is real, powerful, evocative, relatable and is truth beyond anyone's imaginings. I recommend you read this book, beautifully written by this breakthrough artist she will leave you breathless.
