I may be a bit bias because I am a huge Jenny Hale fan, but I absolutely adored this book. Reading this book felt as if I was reading the book a favorite author has been waiting to write...the book of their heart. Jenny transports you to small town Tennessee in this one. It is so atmospheric and cozy. It blurs the line in the best way possible of women's fiction and romance and I for one...am here for it. I loved the second chance romance. I loved the sister relationship and mother/daughters relationship. Jenny did so much in this book and kept it nice and tight. It isn't dragged out. She made every word, every moment on page count and it turned out to be an amazing read. If you are already a fan-you'll love this. If you are new here, I highly recommend letting this be your first.
Hale is the queen of romance and I love her. Butterfly Sisters has two things I love Butterflies and romance. And one thing I long for sisters so this was a great getaway for a couple of hours. I recommend this sweet romance. You are going to love the ending.
This was, surprisingly, my first Jenny Hale. I have at least one more of her books on my shelf, but haven’t picked it up yet.
Butterfly Sisters was a great one to start with. It was such an enjoyable read. I love reading books where a family needs to repair their relationships, and Butterfly Sisters certainly delivered on this front. Leigh’s relationships with her mother and sister was so well-developed, and I really enjoyed the backstory and figuring out why their family was so broken. I felt for Leigh as she struggled to deal with the death of the family member she was closest to.
The romance in this book took a back seat to the family relationships, but was still enjoyable. We actually don’t see much of Colton and Leigh’s relationship until the end. I liked that it wasn’t the focus, and that Leigh’s job satisfaction and family took the lead.
I loved the small-town setting. The cabin sounded so sweet, and I would love for my kids to have someplace meaningful like that someday.
I enjoyed my first Jenny Hale book, and am looking forward to seeing how her others compare!
First, I want to thank Jenny Hale and Harpeth Road Press for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.
If you have not read any of Jenny Hale’s books what are you waiting for?! She is an incredible author that touches your heart with every story she writes. However, none of her books have quite affected me like Butterfly Sisters! This is a book that you must add to your TBR must read list for 2022!! It is a brilliant story that you can tell is close to Jenny’s heart by the way it is written! So much so that in many places I actually teared up!
Butterfly Sisters is dedicated to Mary and all the dreamers out there who want to sit at the Five and Dime and read their books.
Kristen Ingebretson did a beautiful job on the cover design for The Butterfly Sisters. I loved the color scene she used. I was surprised there was not a physical picture of a Butterfly on the cover though.
When Jenny mentioned she was writing a book with the name Butterfly Sisters I just had to read it! For those who don’t know me well I LOVE Butterflies and all that they represent. Like with this book Butterflies have very special sentimental value to me. Many times I found myself either smiling ear to ear or tearing up in reference to the Butterflies. There were so many amazing messages surrounding the Butterflies.
Jenny’s book is powerful, deep, suspenseful, touching, will make you smile and sometimes tear up.
Along with the Butterflies the other main subject in this book was the importance of family. I too have a sister that I love with all my heart but we are the complete opposite! This being said I could totally relate to the sisters in the book!
It is books like these that really make me miss my Gram!
I absolutely loved the name Colton that Jenny picked out for her character!
Two very different sisters return to their late grandmother's cabin by the lake to face old hurts and reconnect.
Leigh, the more attached to the cabin of the two, reencountered a sweetheart from her teens, leading her to rethink her life and priorities. As she faced the possibility of losing the place, returning to her career in New York started to feel less inviting by the second.
I loved the second chance romance, the family rekindling their love for one another, and the cozy feeling of the landscape.
Lovely read!
I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Leigh Henderson is happy as can be. Everything in her life is working perfectly for her and she is about to land the biggest deal ever. But then Rebecca Mayer arrives in the office with a former client list that goes on for miles. All of the sudden Leigh’s boss fires her and she is without a job. Just when she thinks things couldn’t get any worse, Leigh’s mom calls an emergency family meeting at the family cabin on Old Hickory Lake. Leigh hasn’t been in touch with her sister Meredith for years. And now Leigh has to find Meredith, convince her to meet at the family cabin, deal with the loss of her loving grandmother and hope that she doesn’t run into her old flame Colton Harris, whom she has never completely gotten over. Leigh couldn’t feel more hopeless or is she actually feeling hopeful?
This book was so beautifully written. It hit all the feels and also was filled with the hope of mending relationships. My heart was all a flutter with the romance at the lake. Jenny Hale has such an amazing way in describing the surroundings that immediately whisk you away. The hope and inspiration of this story will have you flying through the pages. This fast paced, wonderful and heartwarming story will have you reading from the opening of the cover to closing of the book in one sitting. I was so touched by this wonderful story, it is surely a favorite. This would make for an amazing movie. It was truly phenomenal, I loved it.
Thank you Jenny Hale for such a beautifully written story filled with inspiration and hope. This feel-good, small town romance, and escape to the lake was exactly what I needed. I loved it and I highly recommend it.
I won a copy of this book in an Instagram giveaway, and I’m so glad I did. This book was beautiful! Leigh and Meredith were such compelling and complex characters as was mama. Their struggle to understand each other and come together as a family was deeply affecting and felt so natural. Colton was such a strong and reliable man, and his love for Leigh was so sweet. His and Leigh’s story towards each other was messy and complicated and flawed. But it was beautiful all the same. I loved how the author wove Nan into the story, and how each character had their own relationship with Nan and the Lake house that unfolded in the story. The symbolism of butterflies resonated deeply with me, and I loved how it was intertwined with the characters in the story. The plot unfolded slowly, but in the best way. The ending was sweet and charming. I can’t wait to read another book by this author!
I received a review copy for free thanks to the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily
About to land her biggest deal yet, Leigh Henderson is on her game. She’s prepared for this, and nothing can get in her way. Except Rebecca Mayer, who’d sashayed in a few weeks ago with a former client list that would fill the entire hallway to Leigh’s office if she laid it out end to end. When her boss unexpectedly offers the deal to Rebecca and tells Leigh he’s letting her go, Leigh finds herself without a job.
But that’s the least of her worries.
I am a big fan of Jenny's so it will not come as a shock to anyone that has been following my reviews that I really enjoyed this book. Two very different sisters are brought together following the death of their grandmother. There is a very enjoyable second chance romance and the setting just seems so welcoming.
A feel-good and uplifting book about an imperfect family relationship that many readers will be able to relate too. Very relatable characters!
Lovely feel good story about life and what you do with it. Sometimes it’s not obvious and it takes a while for things to fall into place. The setting sounds like a picture book photo of cabins by the lake that have been in the family for generations. The story of two sisters who never really understood each other but it took letters from their gran and spending time together to realise they were family and that actually they were friends as well. Beautifully written so it makes you feel good as you read it.
Very slow paced book. Nan lives in a lake. Her family visits Every summer. Teen romance develops. They grow up and go off in different directions. Come home again to find truth.
I really enjoyed this book about the love of family and true love. The characters were believable. It was a great drawing together of a family who had been at odds with each other for a long time. It was a clean romance as well with a wonderful ending.
You can always count on Jenny Hale to tell a good story. This story is about two sisters and their mother finding their way back to each other. A nice quick read
One Sentence Summary: Sisters Leigh and Meredith haven’t been in the same room for years, but, several years after their nan passed, their mother has asked them to return to her cabin with news that could shake their small family to its very core.
Overall Butterfly Sisters is absolute perfection to me. It presents a story of sisters with one sister fumbling as she tries to get back on track and figure herself out all over again. Leigh and Meredith are polar opposites and their headbutting was fun to read, but their journey to truly becoming sisters was gorgeous and mature. Then there’s the sweet romance that never overshadowed or overtook the story, instead adding something indefinably lovely. I loved everything about this novel, from the characters to the stunning Southern small lake community and even to Elvis, Colton’s sweet dog. Butterfly Sisters is a beautiful and sweet story of sisters, family, and growth with a delightful dash of romance. It’s full of mature characters and relationships and a deep love under the surface.
Extended Thoughts As children, sisters Leigh and Meredith spent summers and vacations at their nan’s cabin at Old Hickory Lake. But, a few months after Leigh leaves for college, their nan dies and Leigh leaves behind not just the painful memory of losing the one family member she had been closest to, but also Colton Harris, the boy she’d always loved.
Years later, Leigh is a successful commercial property manager, or so she thinks until she’s summarily fired. At least she has a trip to Old Hickory Lake planned since her mother has called both her and Meredith back with news that could shatter the fragile family as Leigh and her mother have never seen eye to eye with wild spirited Meredith.
Butterfly Sisters took all my expectations for the story and absolutely annihilated them. What I thought would simply be a beautiful, heartwarming story of love and sisterhood was so much more in the best way possible. It’s exactly the kind of women’s fiction I always seek out, the kind where the growth of the woman in question is the main focal point and the romance is sweet, but more in the background. In terms of my idea of the perfect women’s fiction novel, Butterfly Sisters is pure perfection. Beyond that, it offers a gorgeous story of family and sisterhood, of creating new dreams and finding new paths, of taking a journey into self-exploration, of sweet and pure romantic love. This is a beautiful novel that sucked me in, and that I wasn’t ready to let go of.
At the forefront of Butterfly Sisters is the story of the sisters. Leigh and her younger sister Meredith have always been polar opposites. Where Leigh is academically successful, career-oriented, and an absolute doer, Meredith goes with the wind, always roaming and never sitting still enough to excel in school. Leigh also enjoyed a close relationship with their nan, while Meredith was always out and about. There’s such a sharp difference between them that it predictably sets them against each other. The tension and conflict between them felt real and marked by years of misunderstanding and jumping to conclusions. I really felt both of them and the pains they both endured over the years. This novel gives them the chance to reconnect, and watching them together was absolutely wonderful.
The story is told from Leigh’s perspective, and I really enjoyed it as I felt myself identifying more and more with her. She takes the conventional path, working hard and putting her all in everything. She’s meticulous and always reaching to do her very best. It’s a shock when she’s fired, and watching her paddle around, groping for shore, gave me pangs in my heart for her. But it gave her the perfect opportunity to grow and learn. Her journey wasn’t smooth, but it forced her to grow and change and reconsider what she wanted out of life. I loved every bit of it. It was realistic and logical and I could believe Leigh was a real person.
Then there’s the romance. It’s sweet and pure and in the background. It has it’s important part of play, but, while it’s an integral part of the story, it never overshadows the story of Leigh’s growth and the story of the sisters. Colton was fantastic in every way, even when he was being a bit hot headed. I adored him and how down to earth he was. His and Leigh’s dance around each other was so gorgeous and so mature I wanted to cry. I loved how they didn’t just jump at each other, but took the time to get to know each other again, to really figure out how they felt about each other. It was note perfect and honey sweet.
But the place where Hale really shines for me is the Southern setting. Butterfly Sisters is set in a close-knit lake community in Tennessee. With it’s small town charm and warm Southern hospitality, Old Hickory Lake manages to feel like both a warm home and a lovely vacation spot I wouldn’t mind visiting. The sense of place is embedded into every detail and every bit of it is naturally woven into the fabric of the story. From the way the characters spoke and behaved to the gorgeous physical locale, everything about it screamed Southern to me.
Butterfly Sisters is a gorgeous story of sisters first and foremost. It’s heartfelt with both difficult and good times. Hale didn’t make things easy for them, which made everything between them flow naturally with all it’s messiness and beautifulness. The romance, too, is wonderfully sweet. But I must take a moment to talk about Elvis, Colton’s dog. I don’t usually enjoy reading about dogs since I’m a cat person, but Elvis was so much more than just a dog. He was wonderful and I loved him so much. There was the perfect amount of him on page, but he was always there, always hovering at the edges, patiently waiting and watching.
Butterfly Sisters could not have given me a more perfect blend of women’s fiction and romance. It was stunningly gorgeous, full of love and old hurts. Leigh’s journey broke my heart a little since I identified so strongly with her. Needless to say, I loved everything about Butterfly Sisters. I was not ready for it to end when it did. The characters lived and breathed in my mind, Old Hickory Lake came to life, and I was quite happy to drown in this story.
Thank you to the author, Jenny Hale, for a review copy. All opinions expressed are my own.
I finally picked up Butterfly Sisters by Jenny Hale and it did not disappoint! I can always count on her books to be a pick-me-up sweet romance, but this one had so much more. I loved the depth of the family relationships just as much, if not more, than the romance in this book.
As the story begins, the main character Leigh finds herself in quite a rough patch. She unexpectedly is let go from her job and is called back to their family cabin with some unknown news that will change everything for Leigh and her sister. In returning to the cabin, she also finds herself running into her old flame, Colton.
While I really did like the second chance romance in this book, it really took a back seat to the beautiful story of this family trying to navigate through their grief and find a path forward together. I also loved the sweet way butterflies were woven throughout the story.
Wow, I just loved this story! Jenny Hale has such a way with words and I love that she sets them in and around Tennessee.
In this story we meet Meredith & Leigh who have never been particularly close or really understood eachother. Following the death of their Nan they are thrown together and are desperately trying to find some common ground.
A story packed with emotion as life changing decisions are made and they are all forced to reflect on their behaviour and lives up until this point.
I can't wait to read more by Jenny Hale as she has an amazing way with words.
Thank you Jenny Hale for a complimentary audiobook of Butterfly Sisters. This was a great women's fiction and romance.
I enjoyed seeing the dynamics of the Henderson sisters and their mom as they meet in the lake cottage left by their grandmother. Leigh is at a cross road with losing and her job and deciding what to do and reconnects with Colton, her crush. I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop and how grounded Colton was.
Schönes Buch für zwischendurch. Mit der Protagonistin musste ich erst warm werden und fand sie zwischendurch unsympathisch. Die Entwicklung der Hauptfiguren ist mutmachend.
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars ________________________________________ Story Notes
Though I don’t have a sister in real life, I found myself connecting pretty well to the sisters in this book. Leigh has worked so hard all her life to please her parents, her boss, and her clients, and despite the fantastic level of success she’s achieved, there’s still something missing. Meredith has always felt unappreciated by her family and has determined to move beyond their constant disapproval. These two had so much to work out, not only with each other but in their own lives. There was so much bitterness and resentment between them that they couldn’t even have a proper conversation together. Enter their mom and her insistence they come to their Nan’s cabin for important news. Thus began a journey for each of them to find belonging and acceptance. I loved the reality and rawness of this story. Jenny didn’t hide the pain and grief of the characters behind happy smiles and surface level dialogue. No, she got right down into the painful pieces of their lives and showed us how forgiveness happens – when we let go of our pain and accept apologies that are truly heartfelt. Leigh didn’t even realize how much of herself she had lost in the search for success. Plus, she had lost the connection she once had with her family. Meredith had pushed her pain aside to make a better life for herself but the chip she carries on her shoulder is nearly boulder sized now. I was so glad to see that Jenny had them work through everything on the pages of the story and come to a realistic conclusion. Life is messy and broken many times and fixing it is not always easy or wanted. Leigh also had to consider her past with Colton and how that affected their relationship now. She had believed that success was only to be had far from Old Hickory Lake and Colton had found a way to bring success and life right into his own backyard. Watching these two work through their long held issues together was an interesting addition to the story. Colton and Leigh challenged each other to think outside the box of what they believed was the right kind of success in life. I do wish there had been a bit more about how they sorted everything out on the pages but seeing them finally get together was the perfect resolution. I’m not giving any other spoilers here so you’ll just have to go read the book to see how it all turns out for the best. A big thank you to Jenny for letting me read your wonderful book and share about it’s release into the world!!
I received this complimentary ARC from Jenny Hale and Harpeth Road via BookFunnel. I am not required by anyone to write a positive review but am pleased to do so. I will receive no fiscal compensation for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
A gorgeous contemporary tale full of hope and heart, Jenny Hale has got a hit on her hands with her charming, emotional and uplifting new novel, Butterfly Sisters.
Leigh Henderson is about to land the biggest account of her career. Having made sacrifice after sacrifice for the sake of her career and put her blood, sweat and tears into her job, Leigh is sure that putting her professional life first and herself second will pay dividends in the end – so she is absolutely devastated when her boss offers the account to somebody else and fires Leigh! Unemployed, bewildered and completely devastated, what is Leigh going to do now?
Poor Leigh didn’t think that life could get any worse – until she is summoned by her mother to the family cabin on Old Hickory Lane. Not only does Leigh’s mother have some earth-shattering news, but she has also asked her estranged sister Meredith along. Returning to Old Hickory Lane brings with it a whole host of unpleasant memories Leigh is not sure she wants to deal with. Not only does it mean confronting the agonizing loss of her beloved grandmother, but Leigh is also running the risk of bumping into the one who got away Colton Harris, whom she has never quite managed to forget…
Unable to run away from her grief, Leigh has no other choice but to face her demons, build bridges with her sister – and Colton – and finally figure out who she really is and what she wants out of life.
Jenny Hale’s Butterfly Sisters is a gloriously escapist tale that will make readers laugh and cry. Beautifully written, highly engaging and guaranteed to tug at the heartstrings, Butterfly Sisters is a wonderful tale about starting over, the ties that bind, second chances and the healing power of love full of characters readers will fall in love with and cheer for.
Readers looking for a feel-good, enjoyable and heartfelt page-turner need to look no further than Jenny Hale’s latest novel Butterfly Sisters.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Butterfly Sisters by Jenny Hale 5* Review Pub Date 22/02/22 "When emerging into the world, a butterfly needs the struggle to push the fluid from its body into its wings. So essentially, without the struggle, it never flies." Jenny Hale always hits the spot, and she has done so again with this well-written, poignant, charming small-town story about imperfect family relationships, predominately of two sisters, Leigh & Meredith. Lack of communication has caused young Meredith to feel ostracised by both Leigh and their parents. As a result, when the girls inevitably go their separate ways, they rarely speak, causing neither of them to really know what is happening in each other's lives. However, the one thing they do have in common and what had kept the family together is that each year they all holidayed with their Nan at her lakefront cabin in rural Tennessee, where they had spent wondrous summers since they were small and had made friends with the locals, Leigh was especially fond of a young boy called Colton. Sadly all this changed when their beloved Nan passed away, and the cabin was left unoccupied for many years as the family could not bear to return. Then, out of the blue, Katherine, the girl's mother, asks them to reunite at the cabin; the sisters, of course, agree. On return, their mother passes on to them that their Nan has left letters for them all............ It is here the story really begins. Can the family fill the void between them, and can the sisters learn to appreciate each other for who they are? Oh, and not forgetting Colton, is he still in Tennessee? Beautiful characters that are so relateable you can but help fall in love with them all. A captivating story that I am happy to recommend by an author who, in my mind, just gets better with every story she writes.
What a lovely, life-affirming and heartwarming story this is and a pure joy to read. Butterfly Sisters is the perfect title for this story, it feels as though you are watching two young women who have had their fair share of turmoil transform into the beautiful Butterflies we all know they are. I have read a few Jenny Hale books, not nearly as many as I should have but hey, there's time to fix that. I loved her beautifully sensitive, honest and easy to read the writing, and am looking forward to reading more from this amazingly talented author. I wouldn't call it a traditional romance, it's far more than that and I do think that the romance aspect is rather pushed aside slightly for the drama within the cabin, I would have liked a little bit of Leigh and Colten then there is, but hey that's me I am an old romantic at heart and never happy unless the couple is either constantly bickering or having love-ins. This hovers between genres; it's part contemporary, women's fiction, part family drama and part romance but it all fit intricately together to make it an all-around winner. I loved the relationships between all the characters, not just the second chance will they won't they romance, I loved the compelling and at times complex relationships between the sisters and their mother, they all have serious things to work through and lots of tears to be shed over the course of the journey. Butterfly Sisters is an emotional and heart-warming story of love, loss, family, forgiveness, moving forward, finding your feet and opening your heart and being happy no matter what you must face. I thought it started off a little on the slow side, but once all the characters were in the cabin and the jostling for my attention began the pacing stepped up a gear and flowed with real ease.
Quick Take: I love Jenny Hale's writing and love the new Harpeth Road publishing group! She always seems to nail a great beach read or winter romance. Her books are always Hallmark Channel movie worthy, which is the epitome of what I look for in a women's fiction or sweet romance pick.
This was such a sweet story; this was more about the story of the three women and the way the family comes together after the grandmother passes.
Themes & Topics: Sisters. Family. Finding your footing in life. Carving your own path. Being true to who you are, even if your family doesn't agree. Finding ways to connect and be a family. Love. Fulfillment. Such a sweet story!
Working so hard in life to have professional success and realizing there's more to life. It's about who you share your life with, where you find your joy, family/creating your own family, and finding what makes you happy. A career is important and great if it fulfills you but it's also important to have some balance; your whole life can't just be your work.
I loved the part of the story that connects to butterflies from the title. It never occurred to me, that the struggle when they emerge from the cocoon is actually what helps them fly. The struggle is what makes them successful. Such a beautiful concept.
Favorite Quote: Sometimes the best parts of our lives come out of the things that make us feel the most uncomfortable.
Favorite Quote: Maybe life was supposed to be messy because it wasn't up to anyone else to find us. It was up to us to find ourselves.
My Review Rating: 4.5/ 5
Recommendation: Yes! Recommend if you enjoy women's fiction and sweet romance.
Romance Steam Rating & Tropes: Second chance clean romance
Jenny Hale’s newest book, Butterfly Sisters, is an exquisitely written story about imperfect family relationships, to which many of us can relate. I was especially struck by the discord between the two sisters, Leigh and Meredith, as I have also struggled with understanding how sisters could be raised by the same parents and grow up under the same roof, and yet have very different personalities, interests, and temperaments even as young girls. Butterfly Sisters is about how these two sisters went their separate ways after high school, and struggled to maintain a “sisterly” bond into adulthood. Leigh and Meredith’s mother, Katherine, tried very hard to understand why her daughters rarely even communicated with each other, while also coping with the loss of her own mother, the girls’ beloved Nan, who owned a lakefront cabin in rural Tennessee where the family spent summers since the girls were little. Of course, it wouldn’t be a true Jenny Hale romance novel without a love interest, country boy-turned-entrepreneur Colton, who had charmed young Leigh when they were kids, until she went off to college and didn’t return to Nan’s cabin for years. One of the things that I love about Butterfly Sisters is, even though we all know Jenny Hale’s stories always wrap up with a happy ending, much of the plot and character development centered around the complicated relationship between two sisters who needed to find the right tools to help repair the bond between them. I can’t love Butterfly Sisters enough! Jenny Hale is unstoppable - her books keep getting better and better, and Butterfly Sisters will be hard to top.

Thank you Jenny Hale for such a beautifully written story filled with inspiration and hope. This feel-good, small town romance, and escape to the lake was exactly what I needed. I loved it and I highly recommend it.
Jenny Hale has this talent for writing beautiful books that are just heartwarming and charming. For me, reading her books is like coming home; I just get this sense of comfort and happiness, and I never want to leave. I loved Butterfly Sisters; it was just everything I needed in a book right now. When I finished reading it, I felt so happy and content.
I enjoyed the family dynamic in this book. The Henderson family just seemed so real and relatable. They aren’t perfect; Leigh and Meredith don’t have a great relationship. These two rarely see eye to eye and never truly understand each other. It was wonderful watching as these two adults learn to stop and take the time to listen to each other and open their hearts up to that sisterly love. Jenny always gets me tearing up with the granddaughter and grandmother (or Nan) relationship she creates in her books. Leigh’s relationship with her Nan is just so heartfelt and tender. I loved how Jenny blended flashbacks, letters, and mysterious appearances of butterflies to show Leigh and the rest of her family’s strong bond with Nan.
The setting that Jenny painted for her readers was lush and vibrant. It is the middle of winter here, so reading a book that takes place just outside of Nashville in the spring was absolutely fantastic. I felt like I could feel that warm spring breeze on my face and could dip my toes in that clear lake water.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Leigh’s grandmother and cabin were near and dear to her heart. A place where she spent every summer and occasional weekends. She would spend all of her time with her grandmother and best friend Colton. But once she graduated from high-school and her grandmother passed away, she moved on with her life with heading to college and focusing on her career. Leigh left everything behind including her friendship with Colton.
Many years later, Leigh’s life comes crashing down when she is laid off from her job. At the same time, her mother is asking that she and her sister Meredith come to the cabin as she has something important to tell them. Will this be the space she will need to figure out her own life or will her sister Meredith be the one to cause more havoc in her life? Will she be able to reconnect with Colton or is it too late? This story of sisterhood, discovering who you are, reconnecting with family and friends, and honoring those who you have lost, will have you turning the pages to find it!
Jenny Hale writes a heartfelt story that will bring out all kinds of emotions, but will leave you smiling and satisfied in the end!
Jenny Hale’s books are always an automatic buy for me as you can always depend on a heartfelt and meaningful story! Be sure to add this to your TBR list! A great book club pick as well!
At first reading this book I wasn't sure where the author was going with this. The first part of the book the sisters weren't getting a long and could barely stand to be around each other. The family took trips to a house the grandmother lived in and stayed there for a few weeks or months in the summer. That's where Leigh (one of the sisters) met a boy fishing. They became friends ever since.
Leigh is a driven person to go to college and gets a good job and doesn't understand her sister at all.
Meredith is very artsy, doesn't like to stay put, moves around and feels very misunderstood. Stays away from family alot.
Colton is the boy Leigh has met and hung out with every summer her family visits her grandma. Colton hangs out with the sisters.
Grandma helps the girls from fighting, get along and understand each other. After she dies, she writes letters to each of them and the girl's mom to help them come together.
The dad is in the book a few times and he passes away.
I will let youbread it to find out what happens to the sisters and the mom. Throughout this books I've laughed, cried, and felt wonderful. I teared up a few times because knowing someone close to you has passed away and the characters are going through this same thing. The book really comes alive to you and pulls you in. I recommend this clean good book to anyone.
