Shattered Crown

Rate this book
Deep in the Eldergrove, Thorne and Silas Ashworth have forged a love neither believed possible. Their bond has begun to reshape the world, healing old wounds and awakening ancient powers.

But peace is fragile, and darkness stirs at its edges. When Elder Willow begins to fade and the forest's magic falters, a creeping corruption seeps through the weakening boundaries. In the capital, King Thomas extends an unexpected offer, one that could shift the kingdom’s future or conceal a trap laid generations ago.

As tension rises in both court and grove, Silas is pulled between the legacy of his bloodline and the life he has built beside Thorne. The Shadowblight thrives on that division, feeding on mistrust and fear. When duty forces them apart their connection is tested as never before.

To face the growing threat, Silas must undergo a transformation that challenges everything he thought he was. The cost may be his identity, his future, or the bond he and Thorne risked everything to create. And still, it might not be enough.

Because the enemy they face was born in silence, shaped by betrayal, and it does not seek conquest alone. It seeks to unravel the very balance of shadow and light.

Silas and Thorne . . .

With Thorne and Silas uniting, healing is taking place in the forest. Their magic has merged, creating something neither of them fully understood yet. They had awakened something in the ancient trees, called forth responses from the deepest roots of the forest. Flowers bloomed out of season, their petals still damp with dew. Vines had grown overnight. But elsewhere, shadow sickness is occurring as corruption seeps through the weakening boundaries and seems to be focused around the Blackthorn estate. A sparrow landed on Guardian Thorne’s windowsill to report that the western boundary stones are beginning to show signs of corruption. Three had turned black at dawn, crumbling to ash when touched. This is occurring with the markers nearest Lord Sebastian Blackthorn's estate. Is he up to something? Testing the forest’s defenses in preparation for war? And Silas will have a part to play. When duty forces Silas and Thorne apart, their connection will be tested. The very balance of shadow and light is now at risk. Will they be able to successfully fight against what’s happening? Or are they doomed to failure?

A great second book in The Feybound Chronicles as Silas and Thorne continue the fight against the shadow light, both in forest and in court. This book has all the fantasy elements one can ask for. Forest guardians, sprites, battles, romance and so much more. I also love how it shows that unity is the way to fight against darkness. This book is an amazing read, and a great continuation of the series.
I would definitely recommend reading book 1 first and the Starlit Bargains side story as well.

Shattered Crown continues The Feybound Chronicles with even higher stakes, deeper emotion, and gut-wrenching twists. Ken Sanchez weaves a powerful tale of trauma, love, and resilience as the characters face impossible choices and devastating consequences.

Tense, magical, and emotionally raw, this installment dives into the cost of survival and the strength it takes to reclaim power. With haunting prose and unforgettable moments, it’s a gripping fantasy that refuses to let go.

Silas and Thorne have a strong bond, a love that will need to stand the test they face as they fight against the shadows at court and in the forest. As we follow along we see the strength of their bond tested but it does not break. This was a strong follow-up to the first story.

I really enjoyed reading Shattered Crown! You follow Silas and Thorne who have fallen in love. They are facing the struggle of being a human and a magical guardian who are in love and being from different worlds. The humans look do not like those who are different. Thorne and Silas just want to unite the realms. Silas was banished by his father to live within the forest and then is summoned to return to the kingdom. They find that there are many challenges they are faced with including the corruption of darkness that plagues the land. Will Thorne and Silas be able to utilize their connection and love to reunite both worlds?

This book is best enjoyed after reading book one. I really enjoyed this! It built so well on all that happened in book one. I really enjoy Silas and Thone. The world building in this fantasy romance series is incredible.

This series is phenomenal!

Great sequel to the first book, lots of twists, Thorn and Silas have to spend some time apart on and off and go through lots of challenges, but their bond and love are strongest than ever. I'm hoping the series will continue this way, with lots of new challenges but a relationship that is unbreakable.
