A teenage girl is assaulted in Torquay. A few days later two girls of similar age are murdered – all three incidents occurring in the same vicinity. The Devon detectives are making no progress, so Scotland Yard is asked to take over the investigation.

Chief Superintendent Bryce travels to Torquay, accompanied by Sergeant Lomax. Together with a local officer who wasn’t involved earlier, they look into these tragic crimes.

I do like these DCS Philip Bryce stories. They are easy to read, there's no swearing or sex with the story being all about how the police solve the case. It does help that in this case more than one person was an idiot but even so the case had already been solved.
