A reader gets sucked into the book she’s reading and is trapped, unless she convinces the hero of the story to send her home. Just her luck - the story is unfinished, and its sexy hero is far more alpha male than she’s prepared to handle.
What Naia doesn’t the story – and its hero – have been expecting her for quite some time, even though she has no idea what she’s doing there.
Naia must learn quickly how to navigate the dangerous, magical world of Black Moon Draw and find a way to woo the unlikely, uncooperative hero of the story, who holds the key to returning her home.

Not bad different, just different. It had a good story, that was easy to follow, with decent characters. I listened to the whole book, not enjoying the end much. Oh well, we can’t love them all.
Black Moon Draw, what can anyone say when they fall into a rabbit hole of adventure! What a ride!!! Lizzy Ford has out done herself with this awesome Novel, which by the way I think it should continue on.
If you are a lover of fairy tale movies, than you will love this book. It has been by far the most clever book written yet by Mrs. Ford.
As readers we all find ourselves living the story, but to live it with a fictional character who would be going through the same motions as you is beyond words.
The characters are all and more than one can expect from a story, I took great pleasure with this book, I laughed and went through the same confusion as the main character Naia went through as she was flung into this mad world of fantasy, adventure and love.
I can rant and continue to talk about it but, it's one of those reads that you must experience for yourself.
Lizzy keep it coming woman it was as I said one of your most clever writing EVER!!!
"A reader gets sucked into the book she’s reading and is trapped, unless she convinces the hero of the story to send her home. Just her luck - the book is unfinished, and its sexy hero is far more alpha male than she’s prepared to handle."
That blurb encouraged me to pick this book up. I mean what reader wouldn`t want to temporarily get sucked inside their favourite story?
Hello, Hogwarts
Hello, Narnia
Hello, alpha-hero-I-wished-were-real
What I loved
The world-building- The Heroine (Naia) was transported into a mad, unpredictable world of adventure and danger. It was very well done.
The plot- It reminded me of A Court of Thorns and Roses. There was the beast equipped with a 'mask' (Shadow knight/Tamlin) who had the fate of his kingdom/world on his shoulders. Both worlds had an impending problem because of a curse, and both worlds relied on the heroine to be saved from it!
What was missing
Growth from the heroine's character 'Naia'- She was tiresome and exasperating in parts. I was waiting for the part where she evolved and it just didn't happen.
Overall
A very enjoyable story. I couldn`t put this down, and was reading it into the wee hours of the morning. So, if you enjoyed A Court of Thorns and Roses and love alpha-male heroes, I recommend for you to pick this one up.
5 Mooning Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌙💫✨🌑❤️😍😊 This book was amazing! Had me from the beginning to the end. I was sad when it ended. This book is on my top 5 favs PNR list! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU LOVE A GOOD PNR BOOK!!! READ THIS BOOK!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Naia's fiance just dumped her a week before the wedding and she finds herself alone at home with a bottle of wine and some new uploaded chapters from a book she's been reading online. She ends up passing out sometime between her pity party and wakes up in the book she was reading. She's convinced it's a dream at first until she realizes that she's quite possibly really in the fantasy world of the book. She is faced with a huge quest. She must help the Shadow King save his realm or the realm itself will cease to exist, with Naia still in it.
I have to admit that the idea that one could get sucked into the book they are reading, literally, was pretty interesting. I liked that the author added some interesting aspects into the novel like the animal heads the warriors wear to heighten their abilities. Can't say I've ever heard of that before. I was actually a little worried that one of the leading man literally had a boar head.
The characters were likable and pretty realistic. Sure, Naia was a bit stubborn at first with her denial of what was going on, but who wouldn't be. I mean, there have been many times where I've fallen asleep after reading only to have the story continue in my dream. The Shadow King was a bit of a brute but he's got a thousand year curse on his shoulders and only nine days left to lift the curse. So of course he's short with Naia, his wimpy non-battle battle witch. She's the one who's supposed to help him save his world and every time a fight breaks out, she runs the other way... or up a tree.
I will be honest that the Red King reminded me of Lord Baelish from Game of Thrones. You never knew who's side he was on or what his end game was. He just always popped up when conflict arose and always seemed to diffuse it. He was everyone's ally but an enemy in disguise. I think I found his character the most fascinating because of that.
However, when I read a story, I read it for the fact of being taken out of reality, and I didn't get that with this book. I was always one foot in while reading. That was due to two things. One being that Naia was always talking out loud to the author of the story LF. She'd point out inconsistencies like the Dark King going from chaps to kilt in the blink of an eye or daylight lasting too long when it should clearly be night by that time, she'd complain to her about wanting to go home, and would ask why she was even sent there. Every time that happened I was jolted out of the story and back to reality. I'd have been fine if it were just at the beginning until Naia came to terms with her new life but I was reminded that this was a book within a book until the very end. The second thing was all the pop culture references. Apparently the author, LF is a fan of some popular movies/tv shows because things would be said, names used, or circumstances happened that Naia immediately remembered from a movie/tv show. Which she's then comment on how the author must be a fan of said move/show. A couple of which I was familiar with, others... not so much. I really (personally) dislike when an author uses pop culture references in a story and makes it the punch line for the scene. Primarily because for those of us who haven't seen the show/movie or heard the song, we have no freaking idea what's going on. It's like being left out of a joke that everyone else is laughing at. So you look around awkwardly and laugh too. Yeah, that happened a lot to me in this story.
I think this is a great story. It took me a while to get into and it didn't fully hold my interest like I'd like but those were all personal reasons. I don't like being reminded that I'm reading a book, it's kinda like having someone interrupt you in the middle of a scene, and I don't like pop culture references, especially ones I don't know, in my literature. However, for those who don't have the same issues as me, they'd probably love this book.
Favorite quote... "Every book is its own world. They're all real, if you believe in them."
OH MY FUCKING GOD !!! This is THE story which every bookworm has dreamed of !! Abandoned four days before her wedding, Naia, an introverted bookseller, spent her evening drinking and reading her favorite book until she fell asleep. One problem, instead of waking up in her apartment the next day, she finds herself in a strange world that looks suspiciously like the one of her favorite book, including Knights soo sexy. A BIG big crush =D I didn't know this author but it was a very pleasant surprise =) A truly original story, a nice style, many cultural references (Labyriiiiiiinthe ><) and a well-constructed universe. For the characters, I admit that Naia was a bit too whiny for my taste but others were extra = D And the end !! So great and so frustrating at the same time >< I loved the Red Knight, so I soo wanted to know more about him =) In short, a must read !!
Clichéd, one-dimensional characters and plot. I stopped reading after the passage 'I'm not much of one for apples. Bread, though, is my weakness, as evidenced by my thighs [...]'
As soon as I read the synopsis for this book, I knew I had to read it. To be sucked into a book you are reading? This sounds like a dream come true for me! I have never read a book anything like this, and this book is truly one of a kind. The plot of the book was amazing. I was never bored with this book; I read this book in one sitting because I could not put this book down. It was physically impossible to stop myself from reading this book. For me personally, there was not a single thing I disliked about this book. There was action, mystery, romance, and humor. I enjoyed every single word of this book. I also liked the setting of the book that the main character, Naia, gets sucked into. It is a medieval world with knights, princesses, princes, witches; everything you would imagine in that time period.
I absolutely adored Naia. Naia was relatable, hilarious, and lovable. Naia was a great narrator because she reacted to be sucked into a book in an extremely believable way. I never felt the need to slap her because she was being stupid; she did everything with purpose, which was really nice to see.
Naia is fabulous, but my heart belongs to the Shadow King. He was everything a girl could wish for. The chemistry between the Shadow King and Naia was palpable, and I wanted them to be together so bad. Once they finally admit their feelings for each other, my heart felt like it burst into rainbows. I just loved them so much. The Shadow King was possessive, brooding, he could kick some serious butt, and he was just all around awesome.
"The corner of his lips turned up in a smile. "I would like to spend my last night with my queen."
"I'm not your queen."
"Do you wish to be?"
I stare at him, every hormone in my body jumping and screaming, while my brain seems to completely stop working.
"Is this because I'm the only girl around?" I ask suspiciously, unable to process the idea of belonging to this man, of him belonging to men, even for one night.
"Tis because no woman has ever touched my heart the way you have."
I melt."
This book was an absolute joy to read. The book ended in a way that it can be a stand-alone novel, but I wish I could get more of the book! I will just have to live with re-reading this book over and over again, which is perfectly okay with me. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a romance that truly takes you to another world. I really do not think you will regret reading this book. There is no other book like it out there.
This book would have been a 5 star book for me if it wasn't for the winy little witch. The worlds that Ms. Fords creates are amazing. I´ve read a couple and I get immersed in them from the beginning.
Her alpha males are one of a kind and they check all my "must have" boxes. The heroines have been a delight but sadly it was not the case with Black Moon Draw.
The whining got on my nerves and stopped me from liking her after her first kidnap. I would have liked for her to explore more of her magic. Trust herself more and fight along her man but alas it wasn't meant to be.
But this wont stop me from devouring more of her books!!!
What a cool idea! I think everyone who loves books has, at some point, imagined what it would be like to actually jump into a story and live it out. Lizzy Ford has really impressively demonstrated her creativity through this book and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. The only drawback for me was the female main character's lack of intelligence; her actions were cringe-worthy and made me feel second-hand embarrassment.
What a journey i had from reading this book. Is this a stand alone novel or a series? If it is a series, i would really like to know the story of the author and Red Knight. if it's not then I am happy with the ending.
Naia was left by her fiance and has turned into a recluse, wall flower, bookworm who earns a living by reading. I immediately liked her a lot since she and I have a lot in common. Naia has been obsessively reading a book by the elusive author LF (very clever Lizzy Ford) and is then transported into the book. She then meets an alpha, barbarian, war lord who claims her as his new witch. I loved this book so much. It is so clever. I like how Lizzy Ford pokes fun at herself. I love the characters and the plot. The writing and pacing is so good. Love, love, loved it. 5 stars.
I don't really know what to think about this book. It was so different. Not necessarily in a good or bad way. Just in a way my mind has never ventured.
What if you woke up in a world that isn't yours? Where nothing is the same? Where hot guys are villains and monsters are your true love? Pretty sure I would run away and climb trees to escape too.
This story is something new and different and not at all what I was expecting and yet at the same time it was familiar and predictable. Which ever way you want to view it...It's a great story, incredible writing, with fun moments and moments of suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed traveling to Black Moon Draw.
Excellent storyline and world building. The down side for me was Naia. I got so irritated with her that I almost stopped reading but the overall story spurred me on.
I was really excited when I heard about this book! I mean, a reader gets sucked into a book she's reading? Woah! I've never really heard of another book with the same premise before, and it sounded like an amazing premise for a plot! After reading this book, it may be my favourite book from this author! And that's saying something because I completely adore her Witchling series! This book really was amazing! I loved everything about it! The plot had plenty of action in it and the sexual tension between the two main characters was leaking off the pages! It was seriously hot! The plot also developed brilliantly, and I found it really hard to put it down! I also read this book in a few sitting because I found it hard to put down! The whole idea of the plot really intrigued me and it was executed brilliantly! It also exceeded my expectations! I mean, I had a general idea of what could happen in the plot, but what did happen in the plot blew me away! I just loved it! The characters were just as amazing as the plot! Naia was the main female character and she was so funny in this book! She made me laugh and smile all the way through this book with her witty attitude and the things she did! I just loved her! Naia was sucked into a completely different world, so she had to adapt to that world! I think Naia did a brilliant job of adapting though! She was also prepared to give her life to protect her love interest! Well, I guess in a way she did give her life to save him at one point! That told me a lot about Naia! I just loved Naia and I loved her personality and that she developed a lot in this book! The Shadow Knight was the main male character and he was so freaking hot! He was also possessive and I loved how protective he was of Naia! The Shadow Knight sort of tried to keep his secrets to himself in this book, but as the plot progressed, he started to reveal more about himself! I loved getting to know more about the kind of guy he was, because he really intrigued me! I also loved that his personality didn't change in this book! He was always dark and brooding, even when it came to Naia! We did get to start to see a tiny bit of a softer side to him but that came right at the end lol! He was such a big, brooding character as well, which suited the role he played in the book! I loved that this book was written from both Naia and the Shadow Knight's point of views! It gave me more insight into the story and it made me enjoy this book even more as it helped me learn more about the main characters! I can completely understand why this book is a standalone! Everything was wrapped up and all the questions were answered! The ending was also perfect and I loved it! The epilogue was also done brilliantly! It left it with a bit of an open ending, but the reader should be able to understand it! I'm really sad this book is a standalone though lol! The cover for this book is stunning! It suits the book perfectly and also represents a certain scene the exact way I imagined it in my head! Big thank you to Lizzy for an ARC of Black Moon Draw!
We all love to getaway from our realities of the everyday routines, when life is throwing us curve balls we all love to escape into a world of books. Imaginations of magic, of love, lust, desire or even just friendships. We sort of develop relationships with the characters we come to love and within the pages of Black Moon Draw one reader gets a “wish” of all us readers.
The Shadow Knight (*sighs mmhmm thank you ) he is all MAN, sexy and dominating. The Shadow Knight is cursed and who will help remove this curse? There are so many characters in this story that I like and I know you will like as well. Naia, now she is your everyday type of woman. She gets lost in the pages of her favorite author's book escaping the reality that sucks for her. She gets to have an amazing journey in Black Moon Draw one only readers get to fantasize about. I know you will love her sense of humor. The desire she has for the Shadow King increases with each chapter. I promise you will love this story!
Funny, sexy, and falling in love with dreams coming true. If you want to get wrapped up into a journey that has all of this and more than I highly recommend this book. Lizzy Ford strikes again! There is a meaning behind this story, don’t be afraid to try! Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and believe in yourself! You alone have the power to do whatever it is you want in life you do not need anyone to give you that courage its within.
This was just OK for me. The concept was intriguing. What book lover doesn't fantasize about being transported into a book and living the story? But I think the execution could have been better. For one, I didn't really like the Shadow Knight, he was kind of an ass and I don't think he was really worthy of Naia. Throughout the book Naia was supposed to be growing into someone who was confident about themselves and wanted to mean something to someone. But she settled for the Shadow Knight who didn't always treat her very well and was a little caveman like. "You, woman! You are mine and I don't care what you say!" Although on the other hand, he did tell her that she was beautiful, flaws and all. I think it would have been better if we saw their relationship grown more on a personal level. See the inner mushy layers of the big brute, I may have liked him more.
Black Moon Draw, draws you in and holds you tight.
Heroine: Naia, an average woman living a bland life is sucked into her favorite author's books (what reader wouldn't want that?). She is determined to return to her world but is required to, and becomes inclined to help the Shadow Knight save his first.
Hero: The Shadow Knight shows the most growth. He is fierce, protective and cunning. While one may not necessarily want to live in this place, the Shadow Knight just might make it worth it.
World Building: The world building was fun and engaging. I loved how the author created this wonderful place and the characters living in it.
Did I lose any sleep? On Occasion. While it is a fantastic read, I didn't lose much sleep trying to stay up to read it.
Not sure what to say about this book. Parts of it I really liked but at the same time it left me kind of, i don't know, blank? I did not get why Naia didn't understand the world she came to better. After all she did read several chapters before she came. Some kind of world building had to have been in them. Just a basic understanding about the realms and their names at the very least. The plot kind of revolved around Naia doning absolutely nothing. I wised the intrigues to be deeper, the obstacles to be higher and the cunning to be smarter. I was waiting for the storyline to twist and turn but it never really did. I was left a little bit disappointed. So thats why I only give this book three stars.
Loved the concept and for the most part really liked the book and all the characters- except Naia. She frustrated the hell out of me until around 70% in, which was so annoying considering everyone else was so good. She did step up in the end which was great but I would have given more stars if that had happened sooner. I'm a huge fan of all the books/movies referenced and a Lizzy fan too, so I'm still looking forward to what she does next- I just hope the next female lead is a little less infuriating.

The idea was interesting. Who hasn't wondered what would happen if they fell into a book they were reading. But that's where it ended. The story was predictable, the use of character names from movies - Labyrinth, Never Ending Story - was annoying. The witch was whiney, The Shadow Knight your typical alpha male. Naia needs to help break the spell that has plagued the realm for 1000 years, and she has 10 days to do this. I finished it as didn't want to leave it unfinished, but certainly not one of Lizzy Fords better books.
I really loved the concept of this story and I loved the plot - I don't think it was executed that well because a lot of it got confusing in a lot of places, and I kept waiting for an explanation but that never happened. I didn't like the main dude, I forgot his name, but I thought that main character was alright. This was an okay book and I think it could've been a lot better if some of the details had been paid more attention to!
Just a matter of personal choice…. I wasn’t drawn in the story…. I wanted to DNF but instead continued reading but basically mostly skimming just to reach the end. Let’s just say, definitely not for me as I find the story annoying and boring. Sorry.
I enjoyed most everything about this book. I loved the plot... who doesn't want to get lost in a fantastic book? the story flows well and has good character development. the heroine is very whiney and that is my only issue with the story.
The main character was painful. The romance was painful. The plot and world had some interesting things, and the main male was about 50:50. Would have given it another star if everyone died at the end.
