Life hit Liam Cosgrave hard, like it has for a lot of people. Forced to work a dead end job to make ends meet, he barely had energy to do anything besides work and sleep. His life was basically just day to day survival.
That is, until he was summoned to another world in a freak accident.
Sitting in his truck after a fender bender on the highway, Liam was questioning whether something was out to get him. At that moment, events conspired to toss him to another world. Upon arriving, he met a pair of interesting young women who had been trying to summon a creature to act as a party member and protector, as well as a school project.
Instead they got Liam, which was more than they had bargained for, given that humans were creatures of legend and myth in their world.
He had no sooner agreed to work with these two when the same mysterious force that transported him there promptly reversed and shot him back to Earth, leaving him with a parting message that the girls would call him back soon.
And thus, Liam's life trying to balance his day job and being summoned to another world started. After all, what sort of mischief could his girls get up to that they'd need a 'legendary creature' to get them out of it?

*** Summoned by Monster Girls is a portal-fantasy, LITRPG, slice-of-life, men's romance, progression fantasy about a man who is summoned to another world, but still has to maintain a day job back on Earth to keep a roof over his head. It doesn't shy away from combat, blood, and mental issues, but also includes simply sweet things like an overly-cuddly miniature lamia and wolf-girl who loves head-pats. Along with plenty of romance and other interesting monster girls.
I love the world and the girls. Male MC is such a ninny though. By the time anything happens with one of the girls, he literally stops her twice to make sure that's what she really wants... Despite her spending the entire book trying to seduce him and having not one, but TWO conversations where she tells him in no uncertain terms that she wants him. He treats the women like children. By the end of it, all I really want is for her to just tell him that she's been screwing with him and burying a knife in his eye.
Oh and the romance feels a whole lot more like two pre-pubescent tweens because of him. She is an adult who knows what she wants, but he white knights so hard that the whole story just gets ruined.
Dude needs to man the fuck up. There's nothing wrong with being chivalrous, but there's a line between chivalry and treating women in your life like literal children.
Also men definitely might care whether or not a woman likes him or not, but almost no man is going to literally stop a woman in the middle of a sexual act to check if it is what she really wants after that much back and forth between them. Especially if he likes her as much as this guy does. I do hate the trope that once sex starts that nothing short of being walked in on or mortal danger will stop them, but this has the opposite problem. There is a certain point where tension between two people comes to such a crescendo that there should no longer be any question about whether or not the two parties are into it, but apparently despite going over it again and again both separately and together, the MC just HAS to check again... Twice. Mood ruined. Stab him in the face and find another.
Liam is a simp with a Capitol S. The book is well written, but the MC makes one cringe hard. The FL's are decent but feel like they are trying too hard. This authors other works are much much better.
This book was pretty good, but there were certain aspects that I didn't like much.
The MC is a hard working guy that has a tendency to offer help that he probably shouldn't. One of those "sucker for a person in need" types. After a minor fender bender in a rain storm, he sees words scroll across his vision shortly before being summoned to another dimension where humans are extinct, but beast-kin are around. He immediately agrees to be the "contracted summons" to a pair of young noblewomen, a dwarf lamia and a wolf-kin princess pretty far down the line. Thus begins his adventures.
The two women were decent, though the dwarf lamia was not appealing to me personally. I liked her banter, but her physical description just leaves me cold. The lone intimate scene was with her, and if I had skipped it, I wouldn't have missed a thing. I do like the reserved wolf-kin, but between her station and her reserved nature, things will progress much more slowly with her. The book does a good job of taking its time before having the girls do anything physical, so that's refreshing. Another woman has come up, a mouse-kin, and I'm hoping she doesn't eventually join the harem, as her description didn't appeal, either.
I liked the plot quite a bit. It flowed well, and many things are foreshadowed for future plot points. I will definitely read the next book in this series.
I don't know why but this book read very slow for me and it was hard to keep my attention, I'm glad I got through because it is a outstanding book. I would recommend the author split up paragraphs more and leave some gaps in the text. Having almost no gaps makes to book harder to read especially for people like me that read on our phone. It just makes it flow so much better when you don't have a huge wall of text on every page. Food for thought, this by no means takes away from a great book with interesting characters but I helps people like me get through it easily.
A well written and edited book that offers a completely different take on the isekai trope. Not only that but the story, characters, system, and worlds are nicely polished and interesting. Lastly, while there is some bow-chikka going on, it is handled quite well: fun, reasonable, tasteful, and chapter-marked for those who may want to skip past it. Good job. Overall a fun, interesting, and often humorous work. Definitely looking forward to more. Recommended.
I am really enjoying this author. Popped up out of nowhere (actually, from what I understand Royal Road). With several series of very well written storylines that are way better than most in his genres. Looking forward to the next in all his series!
Definitely a slice of life story line. Characters are not bad but the MC is a big simp and not really talented. Nothing really happens in the book, it feels like a very long prolog. There is a small mystery that will be worked through in the next few books and overall it was an easy read, albeit a little boring. I will most likely read the next one.
I am in love with the cuddle noodle. This was an amazing beginning to what feels like an epic adventure starting to form and I’m totally here for it. I cannot wait for the next book already!
Really engaging, my only complaint is that I want more!
I didn’t realise it’s only just been published, so I zoomed away to look for the next book as soon as I finished, only to be immediately heartbroken! Loved it, looking forward to more
It's weird, having a main character move between a dead-end day job and this whole fantasy world. The monster girls genre isn't where I spend much time, but although this lacking much in the way of explanation and having some weird demonology I still enjoyed it.
Would be a 5 star book if the MC wasn't such a giant SIMP! He is such a whipped SIMP, that it actually hurt the story. Author needs to make the MC into an actual man, quickly in the 2nd book or I won't finish it. As it stands now I can not, recommend this book.
