Written as part of the 31 days of Trick or Treat Biker series, this story is a novel in the Satan’s Devils Second Generation. It can be read as a standalone
After a bad motorcycle crash put the leading riders, the current officers of the Satan’s Devils MC out of action, the FOG, or the previous officers recently retired, step up to temporarily run the club again. Unable to ride or perform his sergeant-at-arms duties, once Hound is released from hospital, he’s bored, and looking for something to occupy himself. He offers his assistance at any of the Satan’s Devil’s businesses that might need help. SD Construction has a job that’s ideal for a one-legged man with a TBI.. Said work sends him to a decaying, long abandoned mansion, with the instructions to take photos which show whether it’s restorable or should be demolished. Hound quickly finds reasons why the project’s been turned down by most other construction companies in the area. After vowing he’d never return, while reporting back to Shooter and Bullet, a pretty woman enters the office. She claims she was brought up in that house, and insists she be given a tour around it. Hound tries to satisfy her with photos, but one picture captures something he hadn’t seen with his naked eye. Despite his reluctance to return to the mansion, he finds it hard to resist Maeve’s appeal to have one last chance to visit her old home. Perhaps he should have stayed away, as the Satan’s Devils find themselves embroiled against an enemy, the likes of which they’ve never encountered before. And, is Maeve exactly what she seems?
Manda’s life's always seemed a bit weird, starting with a childhood that even today she’s still trying to make sense of, then losing her parents in the late teens. Going from the tragic to the bizarre, who else could be unlucky enough to have had two car accidents, neither her fault, one involving a nun, and another involving a police woman?
There isn’t enough space to list everything that’s happened to Manda, or what she’s learned from it. But by using the rich fabric of her personal life, psychology degree, varied work experiences, and amazing characters she’s met, Manda is able to populate her books with believable in-depth characters and enjoys pitting them against situations which challenge them. Her books are full of suspense, twists and turns and the unexpected.
Manda lives in the beautiful countryside of Essex in the UK, the area’s claim to fame being the Wilkin’s Jam Factory at nearby Tiptree. She can usually find jars of jam which remind her of home wherever she goes. As well as writing books and reading, Manda loves walking her dogs and keeping fit. She lives with her husband of over 30 years, who, along with her son, is her greatest fan and supporter.
Manda is thankful that one of the more unusual, and at the time unpleasant, turns her life took, now enables her to spend her time writing. Confirming, in her view, every cloud has a silver lining.
The Satan’s Devils MC took a big hit one day while out on a ride when the top officers went down and were seriously injured. The FOGs stepped up again until the current officers healed. That put Hound on the path of some crazy spooky events. Was it hallucinations from the brain injury or was it something more?
When he is sent to an old dilapidated mansion to check it out for a club business is when he met Maeve. Was he losing mind because Maeve was actually in a coma in the same hospital that Hound stayed at having an accident the very same day that he had his.
You can see how the plot thickens and spirits take over. This was so well written that I felt like I was right there with them being creeped out with all that was happening. Perfect story for this of the year!
The Satan's Devils MC series is one of my all time favourites, and I’m thrilled to see it continue with the second generation.
Spooked is part of the 31 days of Trick or Treat Biker series, bringing readers Hound and Maeve’s story. The book is filled with all the typical brotherhood banter we’ve come to expect from Manda Mellett, there’s twists and turns, revenge, grief and a whole lot of spooky supernatural goings on.
Wonderful, spooky storytelling, perfect for this time of year. I highly recommend you read it!
This book is fantastic! Definitely a book you stay up late to finish. Yup, there are ghosts, but the rest of the spooky parts are completely new and fresh! The characters pull you in deep. I worried with Hound and felt Maeve's pain. It was good to catch up with the old guys - Drummer, Peg, Blade, and Wraith. I love the Satan's Devils MC series and am thrilled to see it continue with the 2nd gens.
Oh my, this book was awesome!! Hound and Maeve meet in an unusual way. You really need to read this. Manda always delivers an amazing story. Satan’s Devils is a wonderful series.
I loved going back to Satan’s Devils and catching up with everyone. It was like going back home. 😊
An accident of epic proportions leaves the new club leaders incapacitated and the old guys in charge. This change is felt deeply by some of the Brotherhood.
Hound is sent on a job which leads to him finding Maeve. what they experience together is scary stuff, but they find a way to battle through and come out the other end stronger, just like the club.
Spooked was another creatively wriitten book about the strange way things worked out in how Hound & Maeve ended up being brought together in an unusual way. Hound and a few of his brothers were injured badly him messing up his leg and having a tramatic brain injury that kept him out of it for weeks but on this same day the woman fated to meet him was injured as well and out for weeks well while he was recovering the MC's company needed him to get pictures of home belonging to Maeve's family her evil aunt wanted it knocked down but before that happened the ghosts of her grandparents intervended this on has lots of twists and turns and crazy emotions such as hate, revenge & grief. Highly recommended read it has a way cool spooky vibe
Loved going back to the Satan’s Devils MC world! The FOGs are as crazy as ever. An accident sends some of the members including Hound to the hospital and the old guys are temporarily back at the helm again. Maeve is in a different serious car accident and was seriously injured. I enjoyed Hound and Maeve’s story immensely and couldn’t put the book down.
Hound didn’t feel comfortable in the old mansion he was sent to take pictures of. Mouse ends up being his biggest believer and ally. Then, later the FOGs tag along for the excitement and get more than they bargained for!
As always Manda knows how to deliver! This story is very creative and original as all of her books.
I have read all of Manda Mellett books, and it comes as no surprise to me that Spooked is full of suspense and kept me clutching the edge of my seat to the end. Reading about how scared Hound was and trying to come to terms with what was happening to him, while discovering the connection he had with Mave, was so enjoyable. The Ghost plot was incorporated into the story so seamlessly that it made things even more exciting. It was great to catch up with the FOG’s - Drummer, Peg, Blade, and Wraith and see what trickery and Mayhem they have been up to. Once again, a great book from Manda, can’t wait for the next Book.
I'm sorry to say I'm definitely in the minority on this one. I don't know if it's because I don't know the characters or the MC members or what, but I had a very hard time getting into this and wanting to stay interested in it. What I definitely got from it was, can you say pity party, because that's what came across for me. I get that Hound was seriously injured. I don't understand how someone who's been in a coma for 3 weeks and has so much metal in his leg and it's in a full cast would be released from the hospital so soon after waking up from the coma. Then, he's also able to get his fully casted leg in an SUV and drive. Sorry, I don't think so. That's just me, I guess.
This book is a bit of a deviation from the usual MC storyline that this author produces and I gotta say I loved it! Very different indeed. I loved the dynamic between the two protagonists here and was willing them to get together. I don't want to say too much about the storyline because it is such a good tale that I don't want to give out spoilers, but the supernatural addition was a great twist. Suffice to say it was a definite page turner with an MC Edge. Great to see Drummer and the old boys again too. Wonderful storytelling! Highly recommended!
In the collaborated world of 31 Days of Trick or Treat Bikers and Mobsters we get Spooked. It brings us back into the Satan's Devil's world with the second generation and what a ride! The young guys have to take a step back and the OG is back in the saddle temporarily and needless to say the second generation is not happy. Lucky for Hound, Maeve is willing to help him heal...... Spooked is a fun, chaotic read. I couldn't get enough!
I defo found this a little different to other Manda's books,
I adored Hound, and loved that while he found things a little hard to begin with, It took Mouse to help him understand what he was going through. Anyone would feel like they need the nearest bar to help them get through. That Maeve has a similar experience and that does help Hound, he leads her and the experience helps them find Maeves inheritance.
While this is a little out there for Manda, I really enjoyed the story.
Definitely different, with the supernatural ghosty vibe, but still a good story. Hound really struggled with his accident and the fall out from being in a coma. I felt so bad for him when he was convinced he had a TBI and was hallucinating. Especially when he thought his place in the MC was over. They are his family and being unable to be who he always was really screwed up his brain. His relationship with Maeve might have heated up fast and furious, but even in their otherworldly state, they really made a connection. Good HEA.
NOW YOU SEE ME...NOW YOU DONT Im not a Halloween or Spook fan. But....... When Bertie and Emerald got their kink on in the Spookworld I couldnt help but laugh. And when he said to Hound In a low voice, “Knew you’d been paying attention when you saw us. Knew you’d know where to look.” Spooks have a sense of humor. But I loved the ending. Hound got his girl and she got what was her due. If you like spooks and Halloween, this book is for you.
This is going down as one of my top five Halloween stories and perfect reading as we get closers to all the ghost and goblins. Hound and Maybe put together as a magical love story that spans the test of time. Literally. The Satan Devil's rocked and the FOG's are a classic and loving tribute to the originals. I will hands down recommend this book and not give up any spoilers. Let's say it is five star read. Thanks, Peace out.🎃
Spooked written by the talented author Manda Mellett. Written as part of the 31 days of Trick or Treat Biker series! This is Hound and Maeve book, this story is a novel in the Satan’s Devils Second Generation. This book was something else. I couldn't put it down. Lots of brotherhood banter, twist and turns, revenge, grief, ghosts, secret treasure and so much more. It was good to catch up with the old guys - Drummer, Peg, Blade, and Wraith. This is a spooky must read!
Spooked is a real page-turner, folks! This book is like a perfectly crafted puzzle, with all the pieces falling into place just when you least expect it. Hound and Maeve's story is a beautifully crafted tale of love, loss, and redemption, with a dash of the paranormal thrown in for good measure. Trust me, you won't be disappointed! Was so happy to catch up with the Satan's Devils, it was like catching up with old friends! Manda Mallet definitely delivered another 5 star story!
A bad motorcycle accident leaves several senior officers in hospital. The retired officers take back the helm until everyone is recovered. SAA Hound is not himself, but despite his broken leg he insists he can help the club in some way and is sent to take photos of a dilapidated mansion. What he finds leaves him spooked and when he meets Maeve who is linked to the house, his world is sent into a spin.
A fantastic, suspenseful, spooky page turner with great plot twists. I loved that we got to meet the original Satan's Devils MC again as they come out of retirement to help out. This is a definite 5* Halloween must read.
I loved being back in the world of Satan's Devil's. An accident has the second generation needing to step back and the FOG's step up temporarily. This was a terrific read full of mystery and ghosts that bring Hound and Maeve together. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to see what happens next.
The gangs all here, the original and second generation Satan’s Devils come together in this book. If you like spooky unexplained elements mixed in with your romance then this is the book for you. Hound and Maeve may have an unconventional meet cute but they are perfect for each other loved this fun, spooky fantastic page turner. A must read for everyone 🖤❤️
A unique, spellbinding, entertaining and unexpected experience to go on. I absolutely loved it! Hound and Maeve’s ride was definitely different than anything else I have ever read. This is a definite page turner that had me in the edge of my seat wanting to know what came next and in the end left with a grin from ear to ear. Phenomenal story!
You sure had me from the very beginning. I was intrigued as to why all the injuries had happened at the same time. Then, it all started to fall into place. I thought I had a memory issue at certain times. Lol.. That's how you know that the book was damn good. I will definitely be adding your other books to my TBR list.. Great read..
I don’t know where to start, without giving some of this story away. Hound and a few of his friends were in accidents, and hospitalized for their injuries. That’s all I am saying. I highly recommend this as soon as possible
Definitely a different type of book, but well worth the read. Good characters and storyline along with some good twists and turns. Action and suspense plus some good paranormal activity.
DNF. Heroine acted more like a school marm than a love interest. Hound was your garden variety grumpy biker with a broken leg. Throw in ghosts and that’s it for me.
