The newest Cal Leandros novel from Rob Thurman—New York Times bestselling author of Nevermore and Downfall.
You want to know what it's like being dead? I'll tell you. Yeah, I'll tell you all about it, everything you didn't want to know and then I'll tell you more. Because death is easy, dying's a bitch, but there's worse than both.
Worse than your tiny little minds could dream of...
There’s nothing like being dead to give someone a new purpose in life. Cal Leandros has been there, done that, and decided that death just wasn’t his style.
Now he’s back. Stuck eight years in the past; trying desperately to save his younger self and everyone he cares about; and playing a killer game of hide-and-seek with a godlike lunatic with murderous powers, a hair-trigger temper, and a true passion for blood, pain, and death eternal.
And unless Cal can keep both his mind and body together—without descending into complete soul-rending insanity—the next time he ends up dead, he’s going to stay that way...
Rob Thurman is currently writing three series for Penguin Putnam's imprint ROC FANTASY, as well as a brand-new mainstream series for Simon & Schuster's POCKET BOOKS. Rob has also written for a Charlaine Harris & Toni L.P. Kelner Anthology, WOLFSBANE AND MISTLETOE. This year, Rob contributed a post-apocalyptic, "grim" faerie tale Western to the anthology, COURTS OF THE FEY.
Rob's work is dark, non-stop action from beginning to end, rife with purely evil sarcasm as sharp as a switchblade - and probably nearly as illegal. If one shoved LORD OF THE RINGS, THE SHINING, and PULP FICTION into a wood-chipper, the result would be what Rob aims to deliver in a novel or short story.
A member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA), ROB THURMAN lives in RURAL Indiana - land of endless fields, infinite cows and where dialup is still the only soul-crushing option.
This book was supposed to be released on December 6, 2016, yet I can find not sign of its existence anywhere. This is the last book with this publisher, but they should still have made it easily accessible and bothered to promote it at all. It's not even on Amazon, and Rob's website hasn't been updated in years.
Shame that this book never came out. It would have been nice if it had come out as a self published ebook. If I had known in advance that it ended on a cliffhanger, I never would have read Nevermore. I would have still bought it but when something ends on a cliffhanger I normally avoid reading it until the next part comes out and isn’t cancelled. That has happened before and I am sad that it happened again.
To be quite frank, I would have ended this series on Downfall, because everything seemed to resolve itself nicely from previous book plot points. I would have been sad to leave the characters but then again, I wouldn’t be here wondering if the eleventh book will ever come out.
There's this weirdly aggressive and angry tone to it, which I suppose is frustration, but which alienated a lot of readers at any rate.
I still enjoyed the books and hold out hope the series will be finished some day. I wouldn't hold my breath though. It looks like even the site http://www.robthurman.net/ is now dead.
Sadly, this book will never be published. The author stated the the publisher was cancelling all Urban Fantasy authors - which obviously was not the case...they cancelled her contract. She then stated that she would eventually self publish so her fans would have closure. Several months after she said that, she sort of went into a rampage and stated it would never be published.
This is why I HATE series - I invested in 10 books, time, money only to have the ending taken away because of an author who threw a hissy fit.
I don't think this book will be published but here are some of the things I think we're going to happen.
Niko was going to become a Norse god. Remember how Robin saved some of Loki's blood after that fight with Cal at the party? And Robin saying once that Niko was close to being a god when he was Achilles and he's even better now?
I think past George was going to pick up on what was going on and end up helping both the past and present day groups.
I also think that Promise is going to get involved and be there at the climax.
I think the present day group was going to travel to the past and with Niko's godhood they will find a way to defeat Tyre.
And then because of their powers and all the worst bad guys being dead, they will all live happily ever after.
This isn't obviously going to be an actual book any time soon. Shame. And it was left on a cliffhanger as well! I'm just writing this so I can remove it from my to-read list, although I will keep a lookout just in case it does get published. The rating is just a rating for the series as a whole.
Po štyroch rokoch marného čakania som sa rozhodla ukončiť čítanie tejto série neoficiálnou knihou. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11908088... Za mňa perfektné zakončenie tejto super série.
Where can I read this book? I've already read all the other books of this series and I've loved them. So I'm a little desperate to know what happens next with Cal and Niko.
