Three corgis, two grooms, an eye-watering color scheme, and… a whole lot of murder!
Are pigs—or are those chubby corgis—flying? Miracle of miracles, Winfried Page-Lopez doesn’t dread attending the wedding of Estes Park’s beloved pet shop owner and “cookie-dough-for-brains” police officer.
Maybe several ceremonies in the last year have made Fred immune to the anxiety of formal wear and socializing, but more likely, the promise of delicious wedding cake and a dog-friendly event in a gorgeous natural setting is what’s allowing her to breathe more freely in anticipation of the happy occasion. Even Watson is merely his annoyed—rather than his usual terrified and annoyed—corgi self on the aerial tram ride up to Chipmunk Mountain.
As the town gathers to celebrate, everything is fairy-tale perfect. The garish color scheme becomes magical, Paulie’s rambunctious corgis aren’t creating chaos, and even the wintery weather is cooperating for a beautiful day. But Fred can’t seem to quiet the whisper of worry that something is amiss.
Because betrayal and murder abound in this enchanting Colorado mountain town…

Paulie & Campbell are finally going to have a great wedding on Chipmunk Mountain in Estes Park. Susan is complaining about the Festivities tonight including "Friday night acting like morons in the snow then kill a Saturday with rehearsal dinner, & the take ups full Sunday for the wedding!" She is definitely not a fan of all the hoopla! Susan then brings up hat weddings & murder have come close together lately! are discussing the possibility of someone getting murdered during the Festivities! Katie has made mixed berry & cream cheese hand pies (which sounds absolutely delicious) with hot chocolate!
As Saturday comes, an old friend o Campbell, Penelope, who grew up with Campbell, is the only one to attend from Campbell's family. They drop in to the Bakery to get some hand pies & visit. His parents had never accepted it when Paulie came out to them & still never spoke to him. Leah was excited but Penelope didn't seem very excited about the wedding. That evening, the Rehearsal Dinner is held at Habanero's.Marcus, the owner is his usual "over the top self"!
On Sunday, the tram began to bring the wedding guests up to Chipmunk Mountain an hour before the scheduled ceremony. Everyone looked beautifully colorful as the invitations requested everyone wear bright red, pink, orange, or yellow or any combination of those colors! even fresh as chosen a long I sleeve alone maxi dress in bright yellow, as close to mustard as she could get. All that dogs were present & much calmer than usual. Watson was keeping them all in line! All dogs were on leashes to prevent any of them taking off after chipmunks or becoming lunch for a mountain lion or bear!
A surprise was Susan coming down the aisle in a red silk suit & the most surprising of all, she was wearing orange eyeshadow. When she got down to the end of the red carpet, she went through the Gerber daisy arch, then turned to face everyone, the biggest secret of all was revealed....Susan was officiating the Ceremony! The descriptions of each attendant who came down the aisle made me feel like I was right there, watching it all!
As Pauline & Campbell recite their vows, Campbell threw his arms around Paulie & kissed him.At that, Penelope lurched forward & let out a strangled cry. "Stop!" This wedding has to stop. They can't get married. Campbell is my husband. Campbell looked at her in shock & said, "What are you doing?" Many years ago, Campbell's parents had forced them to get married in an effort to "cure Campbell from being gay. They had it declared invalid together in front of Judge Piper, a family friend. It turns out, the judge was paid off not to file the paperwork by his parents but he never knew it! What a mess! What will happen next & will there really n be a murder? Another great Cozy Corgi mystery that will keep you guessing!
I've been reading this series for quite a while - through all 38 books - and I have yet to lose my enthusiasm for them. It was great to see these two characters get their (hopefully!) happily ever after. And the mystery was just as twisty as expected. I can't wait for the next one.
Mildred just gets better with every book! I feel as if I am spending time with dear friends who just happen to solve murders. If I weren't 80 and living in Florida I would move to Estes Park and adopt a Corgi. Need to mention that I was reading Eve Dallas at the same time as this and loved the reference to her.
25-63. There is something about this episode that touched my heart. You never can tell what is truly beneath the surface of some people. Great twists. Had me guessing. And what's up with Watson? I purchased this e-book from Amazon Kindle
Of course we had the requisite murder (3), and Fed and the Scoobies plus a few guests solving the crimes. We had a beautiful love story find its perfect wedding! Loved every word!
This really was a favorite of mine as I couldn't put it down. I'm not giving away anything so I urge you to read it yourself. Sometimes its just good to read a good book 😍
