I walked down the aisle in white—ready to marry the mafia prince. I walked out the wife of his father, the king. I trembled when the ruthless monster claimed my innocence. Now I ache for the touch I was raised to fear.
They said it was for my family. For honor. For survival. That Matteo Davacalli would protect me. But he is cruel. Silent. Distant. Built like a god. Broken like a man.
He looked at me like I was his salvation—a reprieve from his sins, or an escape from the love that still owns his heart.
I told him not to touch me. And he didn’t— not until I begged for it, craving the hands of a man who still dreams of her.
But I’ve seen his hands shake when I cry. I’ve heard his breath hitch when I whisper his name. His body is fire, seeping into my skin, branding me, making me crave more. And God help me, I do.
But this world doesn’t allow happy endings. And I hold a flash drive hiding the one secret he’d do anything to keep me from.
I need to run…With everything I couldn’t say... Because the night I finally gave him my body… he gave me something I can never take back.
MATTEO
In another life, I would’ve watched her marry my son. But in this one, I claimed her at the altar as my bride.
Barely twenty-four. Untouched. Trembling in white. My best friend’s daughter.
She thinks I forced her. Maybe I did. But it was the only way to keep her alive.
I am a man of control. Of duty. Of chains I locked around myself long ago. Chased by ghosts and love long buried, I shouldn’t care. But she ignites something in me no one else could—mercy.
I did something unforgivable. And now I need redemption. I should stay away. But when she looks at me with those wide, tear-soaked eyes— begging for answers, begging for love I was never meant to give— I can’t. I won’t.
I know wanting her is dangerous. But God help me... I want her more than my next breath. She was the one thing I should’ve resisted. In the end, I never even tried.
But if she knew what I’ve done. She wouldn’t just hate me. She’d run.
Some oaths are written in blood. Others… in betrayal. And I killed the only man she ever loved. But now I’d bleed to have her heart.
Readers The Kings of Blood and Vows series delivers full-length, high-heat standalone mafia romances featuring ruthless, possessive alpha men, forbidden marriages, age gaps, surprise babies, deadly secrets, and the fierce women who bring them to their knees.
DNF Ah yes, heroine isn't another bimbo, she's so innocent and tough, everyone is so scary. I'm pretty sure I've already read this book about a hundred times before. It doesn't help that the hero is still hung up on his dead wife.
Ok i read this book an finished it. Then I came to read the reviews because my jaw is on the floor at the very end. Did anyone not read that very end of the epilogue?!?! Is there supposed to be another book coming after this? You can’t just throw those last few sentences out there and end it like that!!
This is one of those mafia books that you read once in a Blue Moon. It has everything that you want deceit, humor, a spice, and a villain he would do anything for his woman. I enjoyed the twist and the turn. I enjoyed the chemistry between the female character in the male character. If you're looking for a mafia romance that has drama, world building story with characters that are believable along with spice that will have you turning on the fan in the middle of the winter. Then pick up this one and get ready for a ride of your lifetime.
First, this book was packed with lots of action, romance in a complicated world of the Mafia, with emotions that go beyond just the mafia world, but with all people that have experienced life where love isn’t all rosy and can borders on hate, families torn apart, redemption, grief, and faith of healing. I only gave 4 stars because it ended with a cliffhanger without a story to follow.
I liked the story but I feel like it jumped around a bit and it made things confusing. It almost felt rushed at times. The MMC and FMC relationship went from 0 to 100 but it didn't make sense.
I couldn't finish this book. It was great for the first 25% and then suddenly everything flipped. The virgin fmc out of the blue states she wants the mmc and he somehow has no indication she was a virgin? No blood, no resistance, nothing? But she's aggressively pushing for this.....as a virgin. The whole scene just made me cringe. Then he's saying stuff like "she's always known" but he's only been around her for a few days, what do you mean always? He goes to bed and says he can smell her on his sheets but they slept in her room, not his. It just felt like the author completely flipped the script suddenly and all the inconsistencies are pulling me out of the story.

Forced marriage trope. And take note, there’s a cliffhanger. After her brother is killed and her arranged fiancé disappears, Maria is forced to marry Matteo, believing it’s to protect her and her family. But really, it’s atonement for one of his secrets.
They have absolutely no chemistry and what little there is feels very forced, like he’s making himself care for her to look strong, when he couldn’t care less. He keeps reminding himself of that so we should believe it. Maria isn’t naive but she’s a bit of a doormat. She demands respect but she also begs him to care about her. Literally begs him to show some emotion. A woman begging for her husband to love her is nowhere close to romantic to me. It’s a little sad actually.
They go like this until nearly the end and suddenly they’re in love and there’s supposed passion and romance. It happens rather quickly. Matteo is supposed to be this strong alpha leader but his own people repeatedly betray him including two people very close to him, he’s always caught off guard and has to run around to catch up, and Maria is kidnapped right from under him. When all the secrets come out, Maria agonizes over whether to run home to mommy or try and make her marriage work. They both seem so much younger and less mature than they are.
The villains here are also very one dimensional. They’re just go about doing evil things for unexplained reasons. They do play a huge role in Maria and Matteo’s character progression so it would’ve been helpful to a get little backstory.
And then finally when it looks like they get their HEA, it ends on a cliffhanger! And there doesn’t seem to be a drop date for the next book as of today, or if there’s even going to be a next book. Doesn’t matter tho. Not planning to continue this sad series.
1. OWD so his first wife dies of poisoning yet he keeps his entire staff b/c he's too dumb for words
2. Then the same maid poisons his second wife and he's like - oh, dear, who is doing this?! Really, dude! It's poison. What's taking you so long to figure it out.
3. Is this NYC or a cabin in the woods - She never leaves the god damned penthouse. not once. not to get a freakin' latte, not to get a bagel, not to get a drink. The only thing she does is sit around waiting for the maid to make her tea with poison in it and sit around painting. Sounds like a great life - so glad you married a billionaire and moved to manhattan. You're totally living it up in your 20's.
4. Dead first wife is ALIVE!!! Yep, wth! So they end this on a cliffhanger with a kidnapping and his first wife is back from the dead. B/c this book was all over the place I was like - ohh, she's a vampire! Or a werewolf!
5. Doormat FMC She's so pathetic, I'm embarassed for her. "Please love me" "Please date me" "Please try to like me" "Please have sex with me" OMg - get a grip, girl - you're 24 and in NYC. Find someone else.
6. The MMC seemed like a teenager I'm not sure what his personality was supposed to be like but he didn't really have one. He was like a clueless hormonal teen and not a man and especially not a dad. No idea why this was called an age gap
"Mafia Kings of Lies" is a thrilling mafia romance that crosses every forbidden line.
Maria Faravelli thought she was marrying a prince, only to find herself bound to a king. Traded for survival and claimed for protection, she lands in the arms of Matteo Davacalli—a man who is ruthless, distant, and tormented by a past that still haunts him. What begins as fear slowly transforms into obsession, where pain intertwines with desire, and silence conceals deep longing.
Told from dual perspectives, the story explores themes of power, control, and vulnerability in a world where love is a dangerous game. Matteo is both protector and sinner, haunted by betrayal and driven by a need for redemption. Caught between duty and awakening desire, Maria becomes his greatest temptation and his deepest regret.
With lyrical writing, magnetic chemistry, and emotional depth, this book delivers a dark, addictive story of sacrifice, secrets, and a love neither character was meant to want—but from which neither can escape.
Try it.

Forced marriage Enemies to lovers Secrets and lies Maria’s family moved to Italy from New York to escape the mafia. But something happens that after her brother is murdered in New York the head of the mafia Mr. Matteo Davacalli is in her house talking with her father. He is very handsome and wants her to marry his son Daniel. She becomes angry but as she and Daniel start to know each other again she is fine with the marriage. On the day of the wedding her groom walks out and Mr. Davacalli takes his place!! For some reason I don’t remember she doesn’t like him. But he is attracted to her! This is an action packed romance with steamy sex scenes. Lots of secrets and lies and mafia wars. I became emotional at certain moments in the book. The love that Matteo and Maria is strong and so much tests it. But they do have a beautiful happily ever after. The book ends with a cliffhanger!
What did I just waste my time on? Took me days to finish it and a few times I almost quit and DNF and wish I had. I didn’t like either of the lead “characters”. Never got a feel for who they were because they seemed to change personalities every other page. Then it said no cliffhanger and yes spoiler when I skipped over some pages to find out what I already had and that Daniele is his enemies son, the book ends on someone claiming the male leads dead wife is alive after being in the house of the guy he killed more than two years before and now that they have a kid and another on the way, here’s the dead wife. Talk about stupid. This is time I’ll never get back so don’t waste yours
Mafia King Of Lies by Kayla Mason Maria Faravelli twin brother, Antonio, was murdered; he was the only male heir, so her father is making her marry Daniele, the son of Matteo Davacalli. On the day of the wedding, Maria is dressed and ready. This is a great story, there is so much happening from the first chapter to the end of the book. I highly recommend this story because I could not help falling in love with the wonderful characters in this story, and I had a hard time putting this book down. I was given this book from Bookfunnel, and I am volunteering to leave a review. This is my honest opinion
I am trying to think of a good word to describe this book and I can’t come up with just one word. I looked up other words for amazing and there were so many on the list that I felt described the book that I can’t even choose one. The action💥 love ❤️ heartbreak 💔 shock😮 it was all in here. The story started out so fast and it never slowed down. The love between Matteo and Maria is so amazing. However, I am dying to find out about Beatrice. Is it her? And if it is what does this mean for Matteo and Maria? When do we get to find out?
I so, 100% recommend reading this book. You will NOT be disappointed!!!!
I am pretty forgiving when it comes to books but not when characters are written dumb.
1) She’s poisoned and you’re telling me not one person suspected the only person that was preparing meals, drinks and everything else for her? No one thought of that? That’s just lazy writing.
2)THEN MFC knows there is a threat and they literally are after her but she leaves in the night by herself? Again, makes no sense. Kidnap her while she’s out or something.
Not really bad writing but why would she name her son after her brother who willingly betrayed her now husband and went behind her father’s back? He’s is the reason this all came to be. That didn’t sit right with me.

There was so much back and forth in this one, I had a hard time keeping up. The pregnancy thing was a ick for me but I pushed through it regardless. We met the MFC and her now husband who have known each other for just about as long as the girls been alive.(Age Gap) She was meant to marry the son of our MMC but the son learned some dark truths and dipped out. There is betrayal on basically all fronts. Lies piled on lies and of course as with all mafia books, lots of dirty shmex. I think it could have been better but makes for a decently fast read and something to just keep you occupied.

The story the characters the writing and the editing was good. For me it was just too long going back and forth where the characters don't ever say what they're thinking or what they really want it was like a soapbox Opera. Also I find it confusing and frustrating why make the heroin a virgin when it isn't even acknowledged the first time they're together? If you want a long slow read this would be a good book there is no abuse of the heroin which I did appreciate. This book just wasn't my cup of tea.
This story is a mafia story, dark, intriguing and very beautiful, I shed tears of sorrow! Maria is to marry, she doesn't want to and even bulks at it but when she finds out it's her childhood friend Daniele, she decides it may be OK until her wedding day and she finds out that she is marrying his father because Daniele disappeared. Matteo has his reason to get marry to Maria. This story is so worth more than five stars ,it has sorrow, pain, love! Some parts of this is heart watching to read but I did and there is happiness at the end like a ray of sunshine!
To protect her family, Maria was forced to marry a man double her age to prevent further losses and gain protection. Matto's son backed out of the deal to marry Maria. She had to move to New York with her new husband. She lived in New York until her father wanted them away from the violence. Grieving his previous wife, he treated her like a guest instead of his wife. She was young and inexperienced in life. Her life changed, and she stepped up, shocking everyone, including Matto.
One is seeking protection while the other is looking for protection. On her wedding day Maria thought she was marring the son but ends up with the father is this thrilling story that is filled with twists and turns that had me all caught up in these two. He married Maria only to protect her, but close proximity brings feelings into the mix that neither can deny.

Maria just lost her twin brother and now she is being forced to marry to make up for the lost heir. Matteo has a son and he was supposed to marry Maria, but instead Matteo takes his place. Matteo carries a secret and it could really hurt Maria. This age gap romance was phenomenal, characters were incredibly well written. I felt invested in this book. Absolutely loved it.

This had me gripped from the first page the loss of a sibling going through that pain my self I felt it for real with Maria. I cried some Championed Matteo and Maria . The loss of a child is something that breaks us all Who go through it i felt their pain . And oh my god now i wanna know who is claiming what the twist at the end is this can’t be fully done.can’t wait to read more in this world
I spent 90% of this book hating the main male character and feeling heart broken for the female main character. I just couldn't overlook the beginning of the book. As a mafia book I liked it, as an arranged marriage I liked it but the main secret (not the secondary one) sat HEAVY on my heart. The ended kinda made up for it but honestly I spent to long hating a character to feel joy from the HEA.
This is the first book I've read by this author ,and I am impressed. The emotional angst that her main characters experience is heartfelt and heartbreaking. This arranged marriage has so many things going against it that you wonder how the author will finagle a happy ending. It's a good read and I enjoyed the erotic tension as well as the real physical danger that is part of this dark world.
Maria had known loss, but now she must marry for the m Family, and was expecting the son but instead his father Matteo claimed her as his bride. One seeks protection the other to absolve his sins but will secrets tear them apart. Well written steamy age gap, angst drama and more!.

To be honest, I felt like this book could’ve been a bit shorter or at least the chapters. I’m not really sure how I feel about the last 100 pages or the ending, it just felt meh to me. Even though it basically left off on a cliffhanger I’m not really sure I’ll return for the second if there is one.
