Everyone in Rockhead Point watched in fascination as the Barnett brothers found their women, and their happily ever afters.
But I’m not a Barnett.
I intended to spend the rest of my life contentedly alone.
Until her.
The moment I saw my doll, the strange things that happen in this town all suddenly made perfect sense.
She’s my mate, my wife, my world.
I plan to take care of her, to help her, to fix the parts of her that are broken, because there’s no me and her anymore, there’s only us.
But the outside world keeps trying to burst the bubble we’re living in, and if I have to, I’ll burn this town to ashes until the only thing left is me, her, and our happily ever after.
Forget the Barnett family legacy. Now, it’s all about the myth of the Montana Mountain Protectors.
Gemma Weir is a half crazed stay at home mom to three kids, one man child and a hell hound. She has lived in the midlands, in the UK her whole life and has wanted to write a book since she was a child. Gemma has a ridiculously dirty mind and loves her book boyfriends to be big, tattooed alpha males. She's a reader first and foremost and she loves her romance to come with a happy ending and lots of sexy sex.
Gemma men i swear!! We met these guys in other books but now its there turn. Knight is alittle peculiar. But he was Knight. He already knew who his woman was going to be by the first glance. He just had to wait alittle to go get her. Octavia is his little doll dressed like a Gothic cute doll he cant wait to bring her home. Which took some time since she was dealing with landlords and an ex. Now Knight has her back home and in his house. Octavia pushes away alittle unlike the other girls she wants the attention Knight gives her but shes hesitant since her taste in men aren't great.
She's also trying to adapt to knights routines. Cuz she is not a routines girl. Its alot of learning for the 2 but honest they were perfect for one another.
No ow/tiny om drama, no cheating, secondary characters, sexy times, no virgins both had past

FINALLY!! I’ve been waiting for the mountain protectors to continue and specifically for Knight who’s very odd behavior just makes you think hmmmmm interesting….. then he’s here and yes fall in love! And it wasn’t a love is going to normalize things, normal is boring, and more about accepting and loving differences. Ugh loved!
I really enjoyed this book. A (likely) neurodiverse hero with ocd traits meeting a kinda lost heroine, and basically starts worshipping her.
Instead of the usual denial and pushing away, here we had small moments of resistance but the heroine soon realized the hero adored everything about her - how their relationship bloomed forms the story.
He is clinical and stoic but caring. She is warm and open to love. It has loads of sexy moments mixed with tender ones too. I liked it overall.
2.5 ⭐️. OTT Obsessed MMC? Believing he found his fated mate? Count me in! This started as a 5 star read and just kept dropping….
Octavia ❤️ Knight
Knight meets Octavia once months ago and immediately feels that he’s found his ‘mate’. He then makes a plan, builds a house and goes to get her from her apt where she’s been living for a few months after a bad breakup with her controlling ex.
The story is about his obsession and love for her and her learning to accept and love him in return. It should be OTT crazy fun, but it just made me sad.
😔. Disliked the FMC; She’s a mess and I didn’t find her very likable as a character. Yes, he’s controlling and the back and forth in the beginning was understandable, but once she gave into the insanity, I wanted to see more depth to her feelings for him. Instead we got tantrums and her constantly “yelling”. He, honestly, deserved better.
😕 No depth of feeling: He’s clearly neurodivergent - or for some other reason - rigid in his thinking/needs but she never bothers to find out why. She claims to love him but flips out at every small mistake he makes. I wanted her to truly know him and love him. The last 10% when she got mad was so disappointing.
- Third act problem. They don’t breakup up; but he changes their routine bc he thinks it’s best for her; but she takes it as rejection. And then doesn’t talk to him for the whole day, and he’s tortured by it. It’s dumb and immature. - Communication - He tries to convey his feelings, she tries to understand, but they only really connect thru sex. Which they have a lot of…. She claims to be able to understand all of his micro facial expressions, but makes no real attempt to do anything w that knowledge, except attempt to placate him from time to time. - Age gap - he’s 38, she’s 23 - firefighter/security specialist and tattoo artist - Forced proximity - he immediately moves her into his house, bed, and marries her within a day - Nickname - Doll. She has a very specific goth/? style and he loves it. Buys clothes for her and dresses her. - Obsessed - he gives up everything to take care of her and worship her. He’s also v wealthy and doesn’t need to work. This was mentioned almost in passing… but huh? He genuinely thinks that she’s just perfect the way she is. He dresses her each morning, bathes her, does her hair, literally cannot stand to be away from her. She develops a similar obsession and can’t be away from him either. - Possible neurodivergence - I love it when thoughtful representation is included w a neurodivergent character, but this wasn’t that. It’s hinted at, but never fully explored. Knight had a difficult parent and it’s hard to know what drives his current behavior. He rigidly follows a schedule and when he needs to deviate it causes him almost physical pain. - No OM/OW. He hasn’t been w anyone in 2 years and was never in a relationship; it was 6 months and she was only ever w her ex. - Dual POV; married w baby
This could have been so good!! An original plot, interesting MMC, but the FMC needed to be smarter and more intuitive w Knight. He was so pained everytime he thought he made her sad and she just made very effort to try and truly understand him. It was literally thrown in as an afterthought in the epilogue. It could have been the most perfect hurt/comfort romance. (Sigh) 😞

Soo many layers to those two words - something that Octy doesn't understand, until she does!
Whew! This one was such an engaging and addictive storyline, and I had a tough time putting this one down, so plan your time.
All series long, Knight has been aloof and rigid in the way he lives his life. While the guys he works with (and Tori) have become friends, his emotions are still very stilted. I absolutely adore how he claims Octy, and the dynamics between them! Is it everyone's choice? Absolutely not. But I get the whole "doll" aspect (that was pretty interesting!) and appreciate how she cares for him, and his "particular" personality.
This is steamy, engaging, with OTT control and codependency that is absolutely 100% not healthy... but if anything, these two own it, and it works for this storyline.
I enjoyed the relationships she has with Etta, Betty and love how the HEA happened. I cannot wait for Warrick to get his HEA next.
This book is a spin-off of the Barnett Brothers mountain men we have come to love for their craziness and extreme protectiveness of their women. It's love at first sight, or so they all claim. Knight isn't one of the brothers, but this town does strange things to them when they claim a woman as their own. Octavia is no exception. This book was everything I didn't know I needed.
tropes: MMC on spectrum, protector obsessed MMC, he falls first, gothic FMC, instalove spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
it's so unhinged and absurd, almost funny. lots of unnecessary spicy scenes, they're going at it like bunnies! they had me laughing because it was just over the top. not enough exploration of their personality and quirkness.
I feel like this character duo was teased for so long, I almost gave up hope. But yay its here and in typical Emma fashion, it is deliciously messed up and full of red flags. This isn't an instruction manual this is fantasy, a story, a book. No need to take it seriously, we all love a man with red flags, he just needs to stay 2 dimensional inside our literature. I will read anything Emma writes, and I'm secretly hoping a few of these new side characters also get hit with the "curse" that is this town.
I am OBSESSED with this newest installment of the Rockhead Point lore. Knight is everything I needed from this series. He was somehow both the level of OTT I’ve come to expect from the men of this sweet lil Montana town AND a balm for my soul of kindness, openness, and excellent communication. Less beating his chest and saying “mine”, more “this is exactly how it’s meant to be and why”. And Octy, ohhhhh Octy. She deserves all the love he gave her. I loved seeing her come back to herself, finding a solid footing in her relationship with Knight to claim her joy and spirit back in a way that felt so authentic. Gemma is always an immediate pre-order author for me and this novel just affirmed that decision.
Gemma, do you know were I can find a real life Knight. Sure his different, but he and Octy are perfect together. You have once again blown it out the water. Loved the story, loved the spice, just plain loved it. I don’t want Spark to be the last time we read about these people. Please, please, please can we have a little spin off or even individual books for our tattooists?
Oh my good I loved this book. I think it’s my favourite of all her books. I have been waiting a long time for Knight’s book and it exceeded my expectations. I know this book will become a go to favourite from now on. Thanks Gemma for the amazing read. I can’t recommend this book enough.
Another brilliant story from Gemma Weir. I couldn’t stop reading. Knight is such an amazing husband. I totally want to move to Rockhead Point. Recommend to all
I am so sick of doormat heroines she couldn’t stand up to Able. She just went along with everything that Knight did. Knight is great, but she has no personality besides her clothes.
I feel like henry and anders was a really hard act to follow. I'm g9ing t9 be honest, Octavia was irritating to me. also did Knight have undiagnosed autism? this wasn't addressed, did I miss something? I love reading stories with diagnosis and disability representation and would eat that UP, but I want to hear about it, I want it to be recognised, not glossed over, Octy could very quickly see there was something but just kept saying "it doesn't matter WHY he does that" "I didn't care enough to ask". anyway I do enjoy Gemma's books overall and just has a bit of a bone to pick with Octavia's character, and a bit of a gap in the story with Knight, look its possible that he just had a rigid father and that shaped him but it felt like more? like he was always called "different". anyway 🤷🏽♀️
I was so ready to read his book! But this was not that great. The FMC is very annoying and bratty. And I don’t know what to say about the last 30 pages or so. Disappointed in this one.
H: Knight 38yrs old h: Octavia Taylor 23yrs old I was very excited to read Knight's story with Octavia before I realized how "different" he is. He met Octavia before and he instantly knew she was his mate/wife. He waited for her until the house he builds for them was completed, then he couldn't wait any longer and he went to get her. Octavia is a fragile little thing. After ending an abusive relationship, it left her lost and broken. This is how he finds her and pretty much rescues her. Within a few days he marries her and she kind of goes along with him. He decides to quit his job and build her a home where they would both live . He doesn't want to be w/out her, not even a min apart. He really sees and treats her as a doll. I thought I would finish this book w/in a day max 2 days but instead it took me a few days to actually finish it and at times I actually had to force myself to continue to read it because I lost interest in the beginning on how weak Octavia is. So, I finally got to finish the book probably 5 days later (crazy) but really nothing exciting happened in this story. I'm not sure what I was expecting-well I actually know what I was expecting, I was her to be a little stronger in character, but she just went along with Knight on everything he says and wants. The story is not bad I just wish there would be more.
‘Knight Taylor is a red flag waving a green flag, and I have no idea what to do with that.’ ‘We burned normal to the ground, and what we found on the ashes was our perfect happy ever after.’
It feels like I’ve been waiting for Knight forever, and let me tell you- he did NOT disappoint! Knight is my new favourite in this series (tricky, because there’s some other great guys in there!), he’s absolutely everything. Now I’m reevaluating everything I want in a man/relationship because ooft, he was perfect! The way he took care of her, was so sure about her and he never stop showing his dedication and making her feel loved and wanted-the entire time! I loved them together and their beautiful little life they created together. As always, loved the mountain world and I’m so excited to see Warrick next, our final mountain protector. Thankgod we get the tattoo guys next, because the set up for that in this one was SO good… I don’t know who I’m most looking forward to! Highly recommend this one!
Every book in this serious and the original Mountain Men series has captivated me and made me thirsty for more. Every time I finish a book and realize I have to wait for the next, I’m gutted because the stories are SO good.
I’ve got a feeling that the next one is going to be amazing and I cannot wait.
*slight spoilers ahead*
Doll and Knight might be my new favorite, until the next book at least. Knight’s persistence and patience in waiting for the right time to make Doll his… and Doll giving into him and his peculiar ways and loving him because of who he is not in spite…yeah, I cried a bit in this one. Doll just wanted someone to see her, really and truly see her and Knight did. Knight saw her and loved her, accepted her as is, encouraged her, strengthened her and took care of her. I love them sooo much.
I like the town full of over protective men. I liked Knight. I didn’t really like Octavia.
This author isn’t great at drumming up conflict. The conflict in the book didn’t make a lot of sense. Octavia was mad at knight for breaking his routine to let her sleep in, her response was an overreaction. She got upset with him when he suggested she stay home. Again she overreacted.
It was kind of sad that he has an obvious mental disorder and he’s confused and upset by her actions. It made me dislike Octavia.
I thought the ex boyfriend would have been a better source of conflict, but the final showdown was kind of a dud.
Also it didn’t really explain his security company very well. I very rarely say this, but it was too much sex in a book, not enough actual plot.
I have been in this weird reading slum for the longest time. Life gets to you.. you know? As soon as I become keen in a book, I almost instantly fell out of interest a few chapters in.
But I lasted more than half of the book, took a pause, and fell in love with it again because of the MCs! I want my own Knight too. Gosh. His steadfast belief with Octavia is what I’m sure everyone wish they have in their life, whether it comes in a form of a partner, familial, friends etc. You would think it comes easy but that’s not the case.
I scoff at the storyline at first but gradually become so invested (mostly because of Knight!!) that i weirdly didn’t want it to end.
A guaranteed happy ending is what I need now in the f up world we now live in.
Oh. My. Christ! Or should I say my Knight?’ I have been waiting for Knight’s story and I was not disappointed. My heart, I literally have no words at the moment. The emotions that have poured from the pages, have wrapped themselves tightly around me. Don’t get me wrong, this book is hot AF and Knight is on a completely different level. And that cemented him in my heart. Knight sees Octavia and he KNOWS. He is on a one man mission to bring her home and make her completely his. This book is going to stay with me for a long time. For all the right reasons. Please, go and one click this now!
So much to say but I don’t want to give anything away. Knight is perfect. He sees the world different. He doesn’t react like most people would in certain situations.
Octavia trusted the wrong person and is broken when we first see her. Like most woman with an aBus!ve ex, they fall into an unhealthy cycle.
She needs Knight. He’s the perfect kind of obsessive. He needs her to breathe and little does she know that she needs him exactly as he is.
I truly loved these two. They were perfect together. The scenes were always steamy. This pulled at your heartstrings and by the end you love both the Taylor’s.
I don’t even know how I’m feeling about these two. I started it back in I think October or November but then stopped because I didn’t like Octy being called Doll and it was giving DDLG. Then I came back to it today because why not and it didn’t give DDLG vibes anymore. I love granger & alice but I think knight & octy have surpassed them as my favorite couple overall. The visceral need they have to even SEE one another is crazy and I could feel the OTT anxiety about and fear of abandonment from Knight. Ugh. More coherent to come probably.
He met her once, she went back home to her boyfriend. He built a home for her. He quit his smoke jumping job because he doesn't want to spend time apart. He is now the security guard at her tattoo job.
He calls her Doll. He likes dressing her, picking out her clothes, bathing her, cooking for her, buckling her seat belt, driving her around. He refuses to leave her alone.
He carries her to a bed he put in his home gym so he can work out and watch her sleep.
He eats breakfast at 7, lunch at 1, and dinner at 7. If his schedule is not kept He gets anxious.
Out of all the jumpers I'd looked forward to Knight's story the most and this did not in any way disappoint. He might just be my my favorite out of all of this author's characters. A little quirky in his need for regular schedules, most definitely demonstrating some level of neurodiversity, but absolutely perfect for someone who needed his calm, steady, and reliable devotion. Even when it seemed a little crazy.
