Such good, unbiased information in this book. Well written and easily understood. The author explains the various roles cholesterol plays in the body, and that this varies with age, gender, and overall health of each individual. To certain people, high cholesterol could be problematic and to others, it would not be an area of concern, and for others still, high is better. While I was strongly opposed to the use of statins prior to reading this book I understand now that statins do benefit some. This book is a great resource if you are seeking to educate yourself on what your lipid panels actually mean.
This book is not pro-statin use, nor is it a "all statin drugs are evil". Rather this book goes into great detail about what cholesterol actually is, and how the body uses it. As it turns out, cholesterol is a building block of the body and is used in every single cell lining. So eliminating cholesterol would be a very bad idea!
This book basically highlights why we need cholesterol and why the LDL HDL numbers in our blood tests is not a great indicator of health. Rather it is just one facet of your health score and should be treated as such, and not a be all and end all.
This book flips the script on what we’ve been told about cholesterol. Instead of fear and confusion, it gives straight talk in plain words. The explanations are clear, eye-opening, and surprisingly calming. If you’re tired of being scared into pills or diets, this guide feels like fresh, honest advice.
