I’m Alabama Delany, the forgotten daughter of a junkie prostitute.

I clawed my way out of hell and now I finally have a home, a job, and enough money to survive.

Things were looking up for me… then in the blink of an eye, everything I’ve worked so hard for was stolen from me. My home, my job and my life savings all gone in less than twenty-four hours.

I thought things couldn’t get any worse.

I was wrong.

They say I’m Alena Polokoff, the forgotten daughter of a Mafia boss.

They say everything they’ve done is to keep me safe.

They lied.

Now I’m a prisoner, but theres no cage or bars to keep me confined, instead there’s three men who demand my compliance while they toy with my self-control.

They say I’m theirs.

And maybe they’re right.

Why does this book seem so familiar??? I feel like I’ve read this before I’m in the first chapter but that can’t be cuz it just came out??? So confused. Reading it is giving me déjà vu

Edit: this was released in one of those limited time anthos! I’m not crazy. The book hits just as good the second time around too ✨

too short. feels rushed & I’m left disappointed

Ok, so imma leave 1st & 4 most what I like to know about a book b4 my lil’ rant ment mostly 4 author. It’s got a lot of depth (at beginning) Spice starts about 50% in but ya don’t really miss it with everything going on. I’m sure most people will feel like her change of heart was sudden after so much build up but I thought it was somewhat believable. Spice was a 5 🌶️ the rest of book tho after it got going! The story was great up until the last 10%. Great attempt for an action spicy book but the details got me & too much left unexplained & we’re left on read…Just hanging. 🫡🤷🏻‍♀️😤🤯

There was so much left unfinished…..Spoilers ahead..

….
Now I almost stopped reading at 70-75% convinced it was gonna be a cliffhanger. To wait for next book! Spent way too much time at beginning & then nothing explained at the end!? How’s that a story completed? I guess overall the main point of story was she eventually fell, but with everything else going on, we didn’t even get much explanation of that. We didn’t get NE satisfaction of seeing Tanya being punished for causing fmc almost death….& the end where she’s supposedly paralyzed didn’t really make much sense, but I can suspend disbelief somewhat, it was just completely rushed & by no means finished although great potential & I always love this author & her stories.…this one just wasn’t up to her standards, imo. Needed a little better proofreading. I mean, how ya gonna B paralyzed but can still a. Hold ur head up to see everything? b. Be able 2 cough and sputter after near drowning/sucking in water? That part was skimmed over. It was like author hit her absolute deadline & they told her oh well, turn whatcha got NE ways! & yeah, I guess it’s technically done, but Dayum, not near what it should be!!! Ok, I’m done. ✌🏻

whychoose Mafia

Loved loved loved.

These men are DARK. Not in the sense of your typical mafia type - just in their moral compass concerning Alabama and her freedom and choices. (I can’t say anymore without spoiling it)

I would say this is an awesome whychoose mafia type story.

The one problem I did have was that I felt I had read it before. I don’t know how to explain in but I genuinely feel like I’ve read it before.

Black Sheep is a dark, gripping, and emotionally intense read that pulls you in from the very first page and refuses to let go. Gemma Weir delivers a powerful story about survival, identity, and control, centered around a heroine who is as resilient as she is compelling. Alabama Delany’s journey from abandonment and hardship to independence is raw and heartbreaking, making her sudden fall into a dangerous new reality all the more devastating.

What makes this story stand out is the sharp contrast between the life Alabama fought to build and the one forced upon her when her true identity is revealed. The mafia elements add a constant undercurrent of tension, while the psychological push and pull between Alabama and the three men who claim her is darkly addictive. Their dynamic is intense, provocative, and emotionally charged, keeping the stakes high throughout the story.

Weir’s writing is immersive and unapologetically bold, exploring themes of power, manipulation, and belonging without holding back. Alabama’s inner strength shines through even in captivity, and watching her navigate fear, desire, and defiance makes for a riveting reading experience. The pacing is strong, the atmosphere is thick with danger, and the emotional complexity adds depth beyond the dark romance elements.

Overall, Black Sheep is a captivating, edgy read that will appeal to fans of dark romance who enjoy morally gray characters, high tension, and emotionally charged storytelling. It’s intense, unforgettable, and leaves you eager for more.

These guys are morally ambiguous and behave like cavemen, my favorite kind of guys! They are brothers in every way except for blood.
“One guy is fun, but three are better.”

Lev Adamovich (age 32) is controlling, and the one who followed Ali the most and is the most romantic.
Dimitri Belov (age 32) is manipulative and marries Elena. He’s always been the one to push them to take care of themselves. He’s the organized neat guy.
Viktor Sorokin (age 31) is the Tech guy keeping a watch on everything with his cameras. He’s more organized chaos with everything randomly placed but to his liking. He’s clearly the wildcard capable of switching from flirty and sweet, to violent and terrifying.
“We gave you loyalty, love, us.”

Alabama (age 20) never had a lucky break and is a survivor. But once she’s kidnapped life and choice have a whole new meaning.
“Viktor wants to play with me, Lev wants to take care of me, and Dimitri… well Dimitri wants to own me.”

The scenes in this book break the spice meter! These guys know what they want and what they’re doing and Ali is lucky enough to be along for the ride. Is it wrong I love how unhinged Dimi is, I mean he will violate anything to get what he wants.

While the story does end, this group leaves me panting and I really hope we get more of them!

Slow-burn tension, natural progression, and the perfect open-ended finish.

Black Sheep had me hooked from start to finish. The pacing and emotional progression were perfect, and the character development—especially between Alabama and her three men, Dimitri, Lev, and Viktor—felt organic and earned.

That said, Alabama did test my patience early on. She’s so hung up on her insecurities that she often refuses to take in what the guys are saying, which gets frustrating. Still, her resistance adds real tension and angst, and it kept the story interesting.

The spice took a while to arrive (nothing until about page 246, with a tamer first scene between Alabama, Dimi, and Vik), but once it started, it worked beautifully. By page 264, the dominant/submissive dynamic among all four of them becomes clear—subtle but definitely there. Spice rating: 3.5 / 5 🌶️.

The “come-to-Jesus” conversation around page 261 was a great emotional pivot, marking the point where their slow acceptance finally turns into something deeper. The ending is both wonderful and maddening: open-ended and “happy for now,” which honestly suits them perfectly—but I’m absolutely hoping for a sequel.

Minor irritations aside, Black Sheep was refreshing, passionate, and perfectly paced. A near-perfect slow burn that balances tension, intimacy, and growth.

Black Sheep 🖤

I’ve been a Gemma fan for a while now. If she writes it, I’m going to read it. Black Sheep did not disappoint.

Much like Gemma’s other books, the MMC’s are OTT and obsessed with their woman which is something that I’ve loved reading. Very few authors have been able to write such obsessive and possessive hero’s/alphaholes the way Gemma does. While this style is a bit different than Gemma’s other books-being why choose & mafia-ish, she still manages to write a phenomenal book.

I appreciated the ending in that it was open-ended. I could easily see where another book could come in to play, and honestly I would devour it if it happened. I also don’t think the world set up would have to end with this couple, I could easily see a side character pushing through with their own book 👀 (*cough* Greyson *cough).

I loved Alabama’s character all throughout and loved how she questioned and fought the MMC’s. Some reader might find her refusal to give in “annoying” but I didn’t. I honestly respected how she didn’t just give up and fall for them instantly. She questioned them and herself throughout to the end.

Gemma, if you read this, please write more. If not this book/storyline another why choose would be amazing. You did a spectacular job here. 🩷

I have been a fan of Gemma Weir’s writing for a while but this is officially my new favorite!

I love that Alabama is a roll with the punches kinda girl but that when the guys show up and turn her life upside down she doesn’t just sit down and accept it! I loved seeing her struggle with the situation she is put in and not just accept it right off the bat or give in super easily! The fact she was seriously contemplating if she was getting Stockholm syndrome made me laugh! I love how the guys try to make it easier on her by taking her choices for everything except touching. I love the way they dress her and never give her space it definitely makes the story more believable in the suspend realty and live in the moment kind of way!

The guys are definitely certifiable but in the best hot way. Vik, Lev and Dimi are all complete Alphaholes and I loved every second of it!

I also loved that we got a complete story with epilogue and HEA but the door is open to more! That’s definitely the way to branch out into a new subgenre.

Please write more in this world and with these character!

Cliffhanger = Yes & No?, I want more!
Would I recommend this book = Yes
Would I read future books by this author = Yes

First off, I NEED MORE of Ali, Dimi, Vik, and Lev.

What I love most about Gemma's books are her heroes are jerky, alpha, cavemen. They take charge and don't care. Add in darkness and make it an RH, and it's a sit down and read the entire book in day.

The dirty spicy level was off the charts. Wow! That's all that needs to be said.

My only negative is that the ending seemed rushed. Another chapter or 2 could have tied everything perfectly. It wasn't really a cliffhanger but a happy for now. Possibly a bonus epilogue for the future?

All in all, this one checks the boxes:
✔️Dark
✔️RH
✔️Spicy
✔️Drama
✔️Alphaholes

I would absolutely recommend!

3.5⭐️ Not that I hated it, I didn’t, but I felt like I was reading a big ole’ fuck fest. You know the kind of books that are heavy on the smut and light on the storyline. By the time I was really starting to love it, it just ends. And what a shit ending it was. I know the author said that this was her first foray into the why choose/RH trope but why did you have to do us dirty like that. It’s like getting left on “read”. Anyway, I would read more from this quadruple if the author writes it. Too many things left hanging. Just wished that I knew more before I jumped into this book.

Leave your moral compass at the door if you wish to enjoy Black Sheep to the fullest.

Our mmc's are beyond morally grey, yet delicious in their darkness and depravity.

You're not supposed to like them, they are villains after all.

Yet, like Alabama our fmc, you'll find yourself sucked into the over the top possessiveness and sexual kinks.

Kidnapping is just the beginning...

I devoured it. The multiple pov particularly appealed to me as it gave us the men's view on their actions towards Alabama and, despite them being a tad psycho, gave an appreciation that at the root of their derangement, was the deepest love.

The smut was kind of fun. Apart from that though, the book disappoints.

Ali starts out as quite a strong character, but throughout the book she loses more and more of herself until she ends up a crying, weak pet whose only role in the finale was to be a damsel in distress. There was no character growth, she had more of a negative character arc. I'm okay with an fmc being passive or having little agency for some of the book, but the finale at least should have her doing something. There are plenty of dark romance stories that still have this.

There were also some weird choices made. For instance, like Checkov's gun, when the book mentions cuffs and a ball gag, I expect them to be used at some point. Unless I read over it, I don't think they were.

I NEED MORE!! The ending?!? How did she react hahaha I need to know! This is my type of book! All kind of spicy, with a good storyline to go with it! Alabama had her life uprooted by these 3 very OTTP but sexy men, and although she wanted to hate them, she couldn’t, and I don’t blame her. She went through a lot in her past, and even throughout this you can see her go through every emotion. But her men won’t let her go through anything else, they just want her happy, naked, well taken care of *wink wink*. I could read 80 more chapters of these 4 together.

Very much enjoyed this book.

I absolutely loved this book. Read the trigger warnings but remember this is fiction and fantasy not real life.
Dimitri, Viktor and Lev are the most alpha butthole characters I have ever read, and I’ve read Gemma’s mountain man series.
The things they do to her unbeknownst to her will shock, thrill and maybe entice you more than you thought possible.
Good plot line of mafia/bratva origins.
Pure unadulterated fantasy and if you go with that, you will love the alpha males!

I'm having trouble rating this. Is there a plot? Sure. Does it affect the overall smuttyness of the book? Nope, not one bit.
This was a whole lot of sexy filth, a pretty thin and predictable plot, some repetitiveness, cookie-cutter characters, and another serving of smut. Oh, and a very abrupt villain-take-down and ending.
If you don't go in expecting character depth or even likeable mc's, you'll be fine.

fantastic!

Gemma! What are you doing to me?! I wanted more.

These guys are perfection. Crazy possessive. Over the top protective. So so dirty and I wanted more.

Ali is a force. I admire the girl. She’s tough as nails. She’s gone through a lot in her 20 years. She was not going to be a victim.

The guys are all addicting in their own way and I loved how perfect they were together.

The story flows well and there’s so much spice but the story is firm throughout.

mmmmmm dark romance ladies you will like this.

If you like dark romance you will like this. But if you don’t like the villains winning the girl do not attempt. This is a reverse harem. (Multiple love interest) book with some dark themes. Dark as in black my friends. If you like birth control tampering, spanking, and some neck holding this will be for you, you kinky thing you.

Would have been 5 star but way too much of her
POV and she is boring and also spanking with a belt was way too far and he told her if she came willingly he would not use the belt liar. She was just so in her head and then there was not enough to actually know any of the guys. Decent for her first RH cant wait to read her next RH.

All The Yes

Alabama Delaney and her 3 hot, crazy, determined men. Delicious. I devoured it.

Gemma's first attempt at why-choose was done epically well. I felt each male mmc was represented well, and all equally sociopathic... as all her leading men are, and thank the gods!

Gemma is an absolute auto buy for me, and a personal fave.

I NEED MORE!

This was a quick read for me, dark romance at its best with jealous, possessive obsessive men. There’s plenty of mystery and drama and the steam is off the charts. Ending felt rushed, would have liked a little more but it was a fab read regardless
