C.D. Gill is the award-winning author of The Freedom's Cry and Against All Odds series. As a midwestern transplant living in the south, she traded the wide-open spaces for more sunshine and warmth year-round. Her insatiable love for travel and exploring new places finds a home in her action-packed fiction where times get hard for the characters but they're never left without hope.
A great start to a new romantic suspense series by C.D. Gill. Trapped introduces us to the Carter Security team, a counter-espionage unit. The storyline held my attention from start to finish, the plot was engaging and well-written with action and suspense, and the characters made me smile. I enjoyed the chemistry between Noah and Lexi and Lexi's sass and cleverness. This story has family dynamics, debts, trust issues, and corporate espionage. I'm looking forward to the next installment in this series.
This entire series is FIRE! I am going to venture that both men and women will enjoy the books. I don’t always say that but I think this time it’s true.
Each book has a plot which seems lifted from the headlines: Chinese and Russian illegal immigration, stealing corporate and government secrets, American traitors, backdoor hacks into electronic parts manufactured overseas, and threats to critical medicines, infrastructure, and military. Modern slavery, human trafficking, and sexual assault are also components. In short, the big stories we see in our feeds are part of every plot. They are written in such a way as to be believable, with spies and electronic surveillance, black ops, computer hacking and forensics, and counter terrorism task forces. The pacing keeps readers turning pages as fast as possible while also providing interludes of humor, character development, and romantic relationships. The books all seem “full” if that makes sense. Other writers’ books are sometimes too thin and some too complicated, but these books hit just right with both depth and excitement.
Gill’s books give the feel of real paramilitary ops. I don’t know what it is like in real life, but her books make me feel like they happen somewhat like this. The writing is more intelligent than we usually get in this respect. This is why I think guys would enjoy the books as well as gals.
I liked the whole series and would like to read the books more than once. From me, that’s a high compliment. Someone put the books on YouTube with a virtual voice, but I think an actual narrator would be awesome for this series. I am interested in the audio version with a human narrator.
