He’s a weapon of light. But there’s darkness in his heart.
Isaac Morrow has always been different. A paladin without a moral compass of his own, his bloodlust lives on a short leash held by his commander. He relies on the word of his superiors to guide him, and he’s never been allowed to question them. It’s the only life he’s ever known.
When he’s captured by the Sentinels, he suddenly finds himself thrust into a world of unknowns. There’s no one to tell him right from wrong while he’s held captive—just a handsome demon named Shadrach who speaks to the darkness he’s always been forced to deny.
Shadrach doesn’t want to fall for a human, even if it’s been foretold, but Isaac isn’t like anyone he’s ever met. There’s a darkness in Isaac’s soul that matches his own, and Shadrach longs for more. He wants to help Isaac break the guild’s chains and show him that they belong together, but Isaac fears the guild more than anything.
As Shadrach uncovers more about Isaac’s past, he learns how insidious the guild’s current leaders truly are. Enemies are closing in from all sides when Lilith, the leader of the halfling demons, puts out a bounty on an ally’s head. Will Isaac choose Shadrach and the darkness they share, or will he let the guild turn him into another enemy they’re meant to fight?
I really enjoyed the plot of this one but didn’t seem to connect with the MC’s like I did in previous books. Nowhere in the blurb or content warning did it mention anything about BDSM or a pain kink, which are two things I don’t enjoy reading, so I was a little bummed when that came up, and I had to skip all the spicy scenes. It may have been the reason that I didn’t connect with either main character or their relationship. Had there been any indication that that was the relationship dynamic, I would have just skipped this one in the series.
I did greatly enjoy seeing all the previous couples, though! The plot was good and kept my attention, so that’s a plus! I’m excited to see where the rest of the series goes!
Light Spoilers/ Content Warnings: This one started darker than the previous books, and I felt that a couple more content warnings could have been used. The fact that “elements of torture” is a content warning but it fails to mention the fact that it’s between the 2 MC’s or the fact that, like in the first book, a demon enters someone’s dream and has sexual contact with the person while they don’t think it’s real, which I consider dub-con, but it wasn’t listed anywhere in the content warnings. Just a big heads up for more sensitive readers like myself!
“You’re not in Hell, killer. You’re in a skating rink.”
First of all, shut up. The way I got so excited when I opened up my Kindle last night to find that Wicked had released early? I can never be that uncool again so let's cut that out right now. Every book just gets funnier and kinkier, and there are very few series that I have adored the way I do this one. All the characters are so unique, and every book feels fresh. I give this one a 3.5, rounded up because I really do love each new release.
I will admit that the warning about the torture between the two MC's did throw me off a bit. I'm not usually the biggest fan of enemies-to-lovers, or worse, bully romance. Even the thought makes me shudder. Here's the thing, though: Isaac is built different. The Sentinels warned that Isaac wasn't the kind of guy you can torture, and I'll be damned if he didn't prove them right. He fought, he plundered, he nearly took out our resident grumpy old man, Talon. Isaac gave as good as he got, and there was never the impression that he was a vulnerable little boy being taken advantage of by a being centuries older than himself, even if they didn't quite start out on the right foot.
Don't get me wrong, Isaac is beautifully vulnerable. He's this lost, brainwashed man who believes he's broken and impossible to love. Which makes it all the more satisfying for him to find a place where he's not broken. A place where he just fits. That place just happens to be with our lovably aloof Shadrach and the friends he's picked up along the way.
“You’ve got a feral spirit and a lust for violence, and that’s how I know you were made to be mine.”
I fell in love with Shadrach in Forbidden and have been (im)patiently waiting for him to get bit by the love bug ever since. He's perfect for Isaac, the way he pushes, praises, and protects. He gives Isaac freedom and choices that he's never had before. It's those choices that allow Isaac the opportunity to learn and grow from the mindless attack dog the Guild had whipped him into. We get to see him really come into himself as the story progresses, opening up and forming bonds with the crew that simply weren't there despite the involvement he's had in the previous books.
Where Shadrach is Isaac's freedom, however, Isaac is his grounding force. As he falls for Isaac and realizes that this whole human soulmate thing is real, he starts letting down his walls and strengthening connections with the rest of the group that had previously been tenuous at best. I was so happy that we get to end the book with Shadrach deeply rooted in this new community they're building. He's involved, engaged, and most importantly, hopelessly in love. A huge turnaround from the bored and apathetic Shadrach we were introduced to initially.
I do have a few criticisms. Author must have been feeling a little uninspired in the sexy scenes (how? you've only just gotten into the real bdsm?) because the wording did get a little repetitive. "Buck" seemed to be a creative choice she ran away with. Additionally, while I understand the necessity behind the Lilith plot point, it fell flat for me. It didn't feel nearly as harrowing as Isaac's entanglement in the Guild, which also was resolved in a shockingly quick turn of events.
Shadrach was right, Isaac kills people much too fast.
Anyway, can't wait for the next book! Since we don't know anything about the newest demon, I'm guessing (read: hoping) Julian gets with one of those Behemoth demons. They sounded interesting.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving an honest review.
I’ve been waiting for this book and Isaac and Shadrach did not disappoint. One “cynical” grumpy demon and a bloodthirsty loner paladin - it’s like the trope just for me. Together they were this amazing squishy sweet couple and I actually think I was grinning through most of the book. There was some angst and a little tension in some areas but I’m the queen of slow burn so if there was a bit more intense yearning, for like 50 more pages maybe, it would’ve been a perfect relationship arc (that’s just my personal preference)
The banter and interactions between Shadrach and Talon were another highlight of the story and so too was Talons “hatred” of Isaac (I think I even laughed out loud at some points)
However, in saying that, there was just too many characters at some points - I’ve read all the books so I was able to keep up; but if not it would’ve been over crowded and confusing. I also found Ira and his prophesising-ish smugness annoying.
I’m not a fan of “misunderstandings” so when the attack happened due to misinformation/misunderstanding I felt a little pang of frustration.
Overall this was an amazing read with great MCs. I can’t wait to read the next book by Yarrow.
Fifth in series (Dark Delights), must be read in order due to overarching storyline. Paranormal. Adversarial to lovers. Found family. Light BDSM. Slow burn. Dual POV. Heed content warnings.
Since he was a small child Isaac was told he was different for enjoying violence, but he was also trained never to question following orders and receiving punishments from his Paladin superiors. When he is captured by the traitor humans and their demons, he is desperate to escape and report back to the Paladins, even though the demon Shadrach is beyond tempting.
This was an unexpected arc story as Shadrach has always been the jaded demon of the group and he falls immediately into protective and cinnamon roll caring for the human he wants to have forever. Isaac has a tortured past and has never been able to make his own decisions so his entry into the group is fraught with mistrust and indecision. I enjoyed that Shadrach appreciates Isaac’s darkness and Isaac feels true freedom and is able to be comfortable in his actions and needs when getting attention and complete commitment from Shadrach. I do wish there was more background and “getting to know you” between them, but all the relationships in this series seem fated which works for the couples and the stories. 4.5 rounded up
This is yet another fantastic read in the series - Isaac and Shadrach are my favourites! I absolutely loved the differences the pair of them brought to the group. Isaac doesn't have the same motivations as the other humans in the Sentinels and his dynamic with the demons was funny and fit his personality. Shadrach was such a sweetheart but you never got the sense he lost his 'demon-ness' even after he met Isaac. They were really well matched and had brilliant chemistry throughout. There were some twists I didn't see coming and I'm definitely excited to see what's next in this world. It was also good to see all the secondary characters that have already had their own books; Ira seemed a little to 'know it all' though but it was a minor thing. I hope the next book brings us back to the club and we get to meet even more of the demons to star in future books. Overall, this is a book I'd definitely recommend!
These books just keep getting better and better. I'm sure I'm starting to sound like a broken record at this point, but here I am again: this book was even better than the last. I've loved all the books in this series and each one more than the one before it.
Isaac and Shadrach's story goes darker than the previous ones, so pay attention to content warnings if you have any triggers. Isaac was abused by the guild his entire life and grew up believing it was just how it needed to be. Shadrach, the ultimate "I wanna abuse everything human", teaches him that is most definitely not the case. The two could not be more perfectly matched or more hot together. Something about these two just pushes the right buttons for me, lol.
As always, these books are connected in an ongoing storyline plot, so read the others first (and in order), but each couple's story ends in a HEA. I am SO darn excited for the next book!
KT Yarrow does it again! Wicked is another fast-paced, addictive installment in this darkly thrilling series.
Shadrach swore he wouldn’t fall like the rest of his demonic brothers, but Isaac Morrow is no ordinary human. A weapon forged by the guild, dangerous enough to unsettle even Talon, Isaac’s shadows call to Shadrach’s own. The tension between them crackles, and watching their bond unfold is utterly gripping.
One of the things I love most about this series is how every pairing feels so different—fresh dynamics, unique challenges, and just the right mix of heat and heart. With each book, the plot grows darker and more layered, and Wicked keeps that momentum going in the best way. I’m fully hooked and can’t wait to see what’s next for these characters.
Isaac and Shadrach, oh how I’ve been waiting for you!! Since Ira told Shadrach about his human a few books ago, I just knew it would be Isaac. Their bloodlust compliments one another too well, for them to be matched with anyone else.
Wicked starts off with you wondering who exactly Isaac really is. All we really knew before was he was willing to help now and again, and he definitely enjoyed violence more than any other paladin. The first meeting and dream walking with Shadrach is INTENSE. And the sexy times are the sexiest yet. As for the bloodlust? Isaac, my murderous little baby, I love you.
Each book in this series becomes my new favourite and we’re officially at the halfway point in the series. I honestly can’t even guess what will happen next, but I’m so seated for the ride!
Thank you KT Yarrow for the ARC. This review is honest and voluntary.
" I was made to love you, killer. You’re mine no matter what, okay?”-Shadrach
I was waiting for Shadrach's story and wasn't disapointed a bit. Isaac sees himself unworthy, subdued by the guild since his mother coldly left him there with just 5 years. But then Shadrach happens and they're perfect for each other, after some struggles. Add to that ,scorching hot scenes when Shadrach shows his kinky side. And a very hot primal hunt!!! The guild is losing their power and secrets are starting to unravel. One more great addiction to this rich and imaginative series, each new book gives a overview of a thrilling and complex universe, masterfully weaved by KT Yarrow !
KT Yarrow delivers another gripping addition to the Dark Delights series with Wicked. Isaac’s journey—from blindly obedient paladin to a man torn between light and shadow—is raw, emotional, and impossible to put down. His connection with Shadrach crackles with tension, temptation, and the kind of dark intimacy that keeps you hooked.
This book is equal parts action, intrigue, and forbidden romance. The worldbuilding feels rich and dangerous, and the moral grayness makes every choice hit hard. If you like your fantasy romances laced with darkness, passion, and impossible choices, Wicked will leave you breathless.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this installment as we don't really know much about Isaac even though he has appeared in past books. I loved it. I was shocked to find out that he was reporting on the secret meetings to Sloan but after learning what he's been through it's absolutely understandable. He and Shadrach were perfect for each other. This series juts keeps getting better and I can't wait to see what happens next and hopefully the fall of Sloan and his cronies. This is an honest and completely voluntary review.

Yarrow's writing is evolving, and it is wonderful to see her blossom throughout the progression of this series. I would say these two are my favorites couple this far, because I like that they are both equally unhinged. Isaac is bloodthirsty and Shadrach is happy to oblige, unconventional happiness for the win!
The overarching plot line is progressing at a good pace and I'm curious to see where things will go next. I'll be happy to see more paladins break free from the guild. Seeing the story unfold will be amazing.
Every book in this series gets even better than the last. I couldn't put it down! Shadrach and Isaac are out of control! I love it! It's like the saying..."Who let the inmates run the asylum?"
