MattaniahMy life exploded when my mother found a new Alpha to occupy her time. Now, I’m stuck in my own twisted Cinderella story that I’m not sure has a happy ending. Omega etiquette lessons. A new, overbearing job as my stepfather’s assistant. God-awful stepbrothers who find their fun in tormenting me every free moment they have. And rules. So. Many. Goddamn. Rules. I didn't even care about the plot; I could have read another 500 pages about Mattaniah, Dominic, and Amos. Not that the plot was bad but I was just obsessed with this trio.
The only thing that bothered me a little was that once the relationship between the three of them started to form, the focus was solely on Mattaniah. Yes, he deserved that attention after what he has been through, but I feel like the relationship between Amos and Dominic got a bit overlooked—not much happened between them anymore. Even all the intimate scenes were centered solely on Mattaniah, and Amos and Dominic didn’t even touch each other much.
This could have also used a bit better editing. There were a couple of scenes where the characters were in one place at first and then, in the next sentence, in a different place or room.
Also, I am glad that the author has artwork on their socials so that I could see what the characters look like, either I missed the character descriptions for Amos and Dominic or there just wasn’t much said about their looks (except glasses, something about tattoos and dark eyes).
But overall, really liked this. The book was sweet and hot, and I loved their dynamics.
While I really enjoy Mattiniah, Amos, and Dominic, I can’t give the book more than 2.5⭐️. The story inconsistency really pulls me out of the story. Unfortunately, it’s getting worse as the story progresses.
Examples: The bed turns into a chair suddenly. A tie turns into a scarf within one paragraph. Sequencing of a few events is illogical. Inconsistency in how everyone is facing and their locations.
I love the alpha-alpha-omega dynamic and the story premise, but it needs another round of edits.
A mmm omegaverse romance filled with forbidden love, romantic conflict, hurt & comfort, and a ton of trauma. Mattaniah's story is heartbreaking, he is constantly being used and manipulated, forced to reject his own omega nature and needs, and expected to play a role. His new alpha stepbrothers become the ultimate distraction, allure and escape for him, but at a great cost. This explores toxic familial relationships, exploitation, and lots of angst. It's also a journey of survival, connection and identity.
Gosh I felt bad for Niah that he felt that he wasn’t worthy and that his own mother pretty much groomed him. I love his Alphas-Dominic & Amos they are so perfect for him and would do anything for him. I love the drama but also all the sweet parts between all 3 of them. I love the ending and Niah getting his HEA with his alphas.
I enjoyed this in theory but not in reality. I enjoyed the romance but not the story. The execution was honestly a shit show. I don’t think I will read this author again.
This is my first time reading this author. At first it was giving me some Chani Lynn Feener vibes, but things quickly started to not make sense. This is a romance between two alpha stepbrothers and one omega. Why did everyone keep referring to the MCs as stepbrothers? And Mattaniah’s mother as “technically” their stepmother? Their parents had just been fake dating for two weeks and were not mated or married. And they were grown ass adults! Mattaniah was 26 and Amos and Dominic were 30 years old when they met! There was nothing wrong with them dating.
Although Dominic and Amos were already an established couple when the book started, it was a secret that they were together, as was the fact that they were only stepbrothers. Amos had been passed off as Richard’s child. It’s not fully explain why but either Amos’ mother was pregnant when she married Richard or she cheated on him later, and he decided to pretend Amos was his legitimate child to avoid shame. So Amos and Dominic knew each other since birth and were raised as brothers, but when everyone found out about their triad with Mattaniah they made more of a fuss about Mattaniah being their fake stepbrother than about Amos and Dominic, who were raised together since birth, and had been mated since they were 17. 🤦🏻♀️ Also, how could everyone have thought they were real brothers if they were the same age, unless they were twins? This makes no sense.
Another huge issue I had with the story was all the tension with Dominic and Amos’s father, Richard. He was trying to pressure Mattaniah into sex or mating since day 1. Why did they not just leave? Why did all these adult children live with their father? Why did they put up with his bullshit? I understand that Mattaniah had been abused by his mother and didn’t know he could leave. She had manipulated him into thinking he would end up homeless if he didn’t have her. But Amos and Dominic were both rich 30 year old alphas who could have easily supported him, instead of staying in a house with a man who was harassing and pressuring their lover. They kept tip-toeing around their father and even let him touch Mattaniah under the table, as if they weren’t all adults watching a poor man being molested at dinner and not lifting a finger to stop it. They acted like children scared of daddy with no way of escaping and supporting themselves.
And Mattaniah worked as an assistant to Richard at the office. So much of this book took place at the office, and this book is really long! I really got tired of reading about all the times Mattaniah sat tensely at his desk or Richard crowded him against the wall in the copy room. Why the hell did anyone let this happen?! Why did these grown ass men not quit their jobs?! Was it just the money? Did they risk Mattaniah’s safety just to not lose their father’s company? Wtf! Mattaniah even went into heat once at work and he hid in Dominic’s office instead of going the fuck home! We eventually learn closer to the end of the book that Dom and Amos had a secret apartment. 🤦🏻♀️ Why was it a secret? Move the fuck out of your father’s house!
Throughout this book Dom and Amos keep talking about how scary and manipulative and smart their father is. About how he must have a plan to steal Mattaniah and they had to be ready. But I never saw any proof of that. I expected something like a kidnapping or an attempt at forced mating. But Richard was just a sad old pervert who occasionally touched and threatened Mattaniah. The worst he did was push his way into Dom’s office and punch Amos.
On top of all this there were some smaller issues that were frustrating. Such as them being in Dom’s office at work in one scene and then suddenly being at home, like the author forgot where they were half way through writing a scene. Or a sex scene that starts on a chair and then suddenly they’re in a bed.
Despite all this I was sort of addicted to this book. I love Mattaniah and Dominic and Amos and their relationship. I love the dynamics between the three of them and the intensity. I loved every moment of Dom falling for Mattaniah and Amos being sweet and attentive. Mattaniah deserves all the happiness in the world after everything he went through. Despite the story being extremely questionable, these characters felt real and I loved them.
I was looking forward to this one and really wanted to love it, but I’m afraid it didn’t quite hit the mark for me as much as the author’s books usually do. Having said this, there were various aspects I really enjoyed:
I adored Mattaniah and was routing for him to find alphas that loved him for him; and then when they did, for them to prove themselves in a way he deserved after their bad decisions! I loved how Mattaniah’s such an important part of taking down Dominic’s father. That poor omega, putting up with his vile scheming mother for so many years; he deserves a medal!
And oh, how I loved Amos with his many spreadsheets, diligent research, and careful steadiness. He was definitely my favourite, so I was a bit sad that he seemed to take the side bar, so to speak, in the second half of the book as the alphas get serious with their omega. His and Dominic’s alpha-alpha relationship was one of the things I loved most about the book, so I’m a little gutted that we didn’t get to see more of them together (though I do very much appreciate that alphas are all about the omega, so this is probably just my opinion!).
I did find some parts of this book rather tickled me. For example, how adamant Mattaniah is that he’s not building a nest when he most definitely is as he’s finally able to follow his omega instincts. And how OTT the alphas both get but in completely different ways when they find out about Mattaniah’s pregnancy. I did love them in ‘ultra’ protective mode, but can see how it was frustrating for the omega. The phrase ‘possessive territorial instinct machines’ for them was very apt.
I also appreciated the three epilogues from points of time in the near future to see how their relationship changed. I did love their family moments!
There’s a lot of spice in this one, which I did enjoy, but overall, it was a bit too long for my taste.

Some of my favourite quotes
"Because I will burn this entire scheme to the ground before I lose you to it. Mattaniah gets what he needs from us. But you are mine, Amos. Before him, after him, during him. Mine."
“Mattaniah. I need you to hear me. Whatever comes next, whatever he does in retaliation, it was worth it. Watching him put his hands on you and doing nothing was never an option."
"If Dominic is your Alpha, and I'm whatever I am to both of you, then what are we?" "You're ours, Niah. Whatever label you need for that, we'll figure it out. But you're ours, and tonight proved that we'll walk through broken glass for you."
"You're the piece we didn't know was missing. Dominic and I are bonded. We've been bonded for six years and I would die for him and he would burn the world for me and none of that changes because you're here. What changes is that now there's someone else in the equation who makes both of us better. You make Dominic gentle in ways I've never managed. You make me brave enough to say things like this out loud. And we give you something your mother never let you have."
“I'm asking because I love you. Both of you. I'm asking because you're mine. You've been mine since the first night you put your hand on the back of my neck and something in my body recognized you. I want the bite because I want you, not because I'm afraid of him."
"I love you. I should have said it before we bonded you. I should have said it before I ever touched you. I love you, Mattaniah. That was never part of any scheme. That was never strategic. That was just me falling for you and being too much of a coward to say it."
"Everything is math, Niah. You're the variable I'm not willing to lose."
“I'm not asking you to stay, firefly. I'm telling you that I want you to stay. This apartment and whatever comes after it belongs to you as much as it belongs to me or Amos. The bond and the baby aren't why you're here. You're here because I chose you and I choose you every day.”
Here's "Taboo Caresses" by N Slater. It's the newest novel in the Knot Unexpected series.

This book was a fast-paced rollercoaster of emotional and strategy and falling in love and defensive measures and fluffy sweetness and drama on top of drama. Sometimes, it all seemed like a bit..much. But overall, this novel was beautiful.
There was so much angst and pining and spice and adorable alphas falling desperately for a security plan gone wrong (or right?). And horrible parents; so many horrible parents (well, two, but they were just that bad).
Trigger Warnings: dub-con, childhood emotional abuse and neglect, parental narcissism and manipulation, physical abuse and coercion by parental figure, sexual harassment and unwanted touching by a parental figure, predatory behavior from an authority figure, emotional manipulation, gaslighting, domestic violence, workplace harassment, conspiring with an abuser, panic attacks and trauma responses, self-worth spiraling and internalized shame, financial and emotional entrapment, and more.
Let me start off by saying that despite the three star rating, I think you should still give this book a read. I'm 100% sure it was a personal preference as to why I wasn't a huge fan of this book, that reason being... There was a LOT of steamy scenes, which I know people love but I unfortunately am not one of them. I'm someone who craves seeing depth in a relationship and who likes to see the romantic relationship build. I'm not someone who enjoys a book being primarily focused on the steamy times, it's not my personal cup of tea, which is why I said you should still give this a chance. I know it's very much a me thing as to why I didn't completely love this.
However, having said that, there were some things I DID like! Firstly, while the relationship dynamic between Amos, Mattaniah, and Dominic wasn't the healthiest in the world, I did like how they were so protective of him and how loyal they were to each other. I liked the last half of the book the best, I think that's where most of the depth to their relationship came into play. You could finally see a bone there outside of steamy moments, which I appreciated.
Overall, not a bad book, just wasn't for me, but it could be for you!
I just want to start by saying! This book was fantastic.
The characters were absolutely captivating, and the omegaverse elements were handled in such a creative, engaging way. Every moment of this story pulled me in deeper. The tension kept building and building, and I genuinely couldn’t wait to see what would happen next.
I was fully invested in these characters—their struggles, their emotions, and how they would navigate such intense and complicated situations. That emotional pull is what really made this story stand out for me.
N. Slater continues to push boundaries in storytelling, and that’s something I truly appreciate. Each new release feels stronger than the last, delivering a richer, more immersive experience every time. The dynamics between the characters were powerful, layered, and filled with raw emotion.
This story had all the feelings and more. It completely captured my heart and exceeded my expectations.
I 100% recommend this book, just be sure to check the content warnings before diving in!
I finished this book out of spite. The writing was not good. The characters were mid, the plot was boring, and there were quite a few typos. It was also unnecessarily repetitive.
The books main protagonist Mattaniah was called the MCs stepbrother multiple times even though his mother never bonded to/married their father. While they were all living together like a big happy family, they were also all consenting adults with no actual blood/legal relationship.
This book was good, but I’m not in love with it. I was so anxious and upset with what Richard did and what he was planning to do that it overshadowed my enjoyment of the book. There were some good moments, like I loved seeing Mattaniah tap into his omega instincts and watching both Dominic and Amos fall for him, even though that wasn’t their plan. Overall, though, I wasn’t really hooked, but it was a good book.
Mattaniah is an omega that has been told by this mother to never let an alpha control you. Don't fall for their lies. However, her lastest scheme isn't what it seems and he finds himself the target of a predator. Dominic and Amos are half brothers and a bonded mated pair. They have been working to take down their father. When he brings into their home an omega things change. They plan to use Mattaniah but soon realize that he is their mate and will do anything to keep him safe. Parental abuse, found family. lots of family drama, trust issues and two alpha's with touch him and die vibes.
I ate this one up! Once I got started I finished in about 3 days. It was longer than I'm used to with these kind of books, but so addicting!
A wholesome plot, a stepfather that makes you sick and stepbrothers who you easily fall in love with.
The business side of this story is so well-written and a big part of the book, which makes it so much more realistic, life can't always be about love and sexy times.
And of course Mattaniah is the cutest, lovable omega who finally gets what he deserves in life, though through so much pain.
Might have been better if it was shorter. The omega started off kind of endearing and his level of shy was kind of cute at the beginning. Towards the end, I thought he was overly dramatic and whiny. The dynamic the three of them had changed in some way around the middle of the book, and not in a good way. Not a horrible book - there was plenty of spice to keep that side of things interesting. But there was something missing, or not enough of something and I for the life of me, can't figure out what.
I didn't love this book. I thought it was way, way too long. The characters had the same conversations over and over again. It got so repetitive and really dragged the pacing of the story down. At least a hundred pages could've been edited out of this novel and it would've been much better. I also didn't like how one of the MCs is such a small part of the relationship. He's pushed aside in so many scenes between the three characters that he almost seems superfluous. Definitely not the best book I've ever read.
This book really pulls you in. The emotional connections are strong. The spice level is through the roof. The plot is a little predictable but STILL good! I loved this read. Very heartfelt, deep, sweet, with a little rough around the edges. The Alpha “brothers” are HOT. The step father is such a POS. The MC Mattaniyah is the sweetest Omega ever. Would definitely read this book again.
Taboo Caresses, book 4 of the Knot Unexpected series, by N. Slater @authornslater As always, a great book by Nic!
Aww, what a great book about Mattaniah, Dominic & Amos! Love! Tropes: Contemporary, Omegaverse, MMM, Two Alphas, Omega, Parental Issues, 🐝D$M Aspects, DubCon, Family/Business Drama, Groveling, Found Family & HEA!
I absolutely loved this the only thing that brought it down a star was the love confessions that happened twice. It was like the first time never happened so it confused me. I loved all three of the men they fit together so well. I love this author the writing is always a win for me!
It's for sure a dark story. Poor Mattaniah has been dealt a rough, tough life, and it just isn't getting any easier. Alpha half brothers, Dominic and amos, want to play with the Omega, but soon find themselves needing him. They become Protective and loyal alphas, you can feel the love between the 3 and it's quite lovely. Angst, supreme heat, and heart. Great story!
Absolutely loved this book. Lots of spicy scenes. Chemistry was off the charts 🔥 Good story line all the way through out. Loved Watching the characters grow through and helping each other. Still not sure how big of a fan i am with Mpreg but definitely worth the read. If you are looking for a spicy taboo MMM omegaverse definitely check this one out.
I really did enjoy this book. Much of it was very well written which isn’t always the case with three in a relationship. My only complaint was the number of discrepancies. So many! Are they in the bed or on the chair? And on it went. It was distracting and confusing. A little cleaning up would haven’t given it another star.
This book is such a page-turner. I was pleasantly surprised by how the story plot drew me in. I love the main characters. The connection between each character is insanely spicy. If you like mmm mpreg omegaverse spicy romance, then I definitely suggest that you pick up this book. You will not be disappointed on highly recommend this read
I was so worried this was going to be to dark, to abusive, to something. What I didn’t expect was how much, how hard I fell for Mattaniah, Dominic and Amos, one Omega and Two alphas. This was hot, sweet, scary and ends with so much love.
This was a very long awaited book for me. I always love a little bit of the forbidden romances and this one was so sweet. I think some of the tension could have been played out a bit more but I still loved this and am glad Matt got his happy end.
A SCRUMPTIOUS READ FILLED WITH HEAT AND AWESOMENESS!
I was in this read from start to finish. I loved seeing their story, and the characters are so totally awesome. Loved the heat and connections! Great read.
So much to love in this book! The hurt/comfort was beautiful, the story was complete and we got a HEA. Some of the spice was a little randomly thrown in and honestly some of the legal stuff dragged but it was all for the plot!
Loved this one! The plot was intriguing without being overly angsty, the spice was superb, and the characters just excellent. I’d happily read another 500+ pages of this trio!
From page one, my interest was hooked! I couldn't put it down! The spice is beautiful and the angst...OMG! Perfect mix of spice and plot! I love these boys!!!
