An inductee in the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame, he knows the importance of preparation, stealth, and patience. There is another who has been using these very same strategies for millennia, and he's after our souls.
In Decoys of Deception, Jimmy aims to expose Satan's strategic plan to deceive, distract, desensitize, and divide to capture his prey . . . YOU! Using real-life stories (like sharing a blind with Phil Robertson), sound biblical analysis, and gripping narratives, Jimmy dives deep into the darkest areas of spirituality, including the origin of evil and its lasting effect on mankind.
This book serves as a wake-up call to people of all ages and backgrounds to recognize and fight against Satan's schemes. It is also a message of great hope that one day, brilliant light will overcome all darkness when God out-deceives the Great Deceiver in the chess game of the ages.
We currently live in a chaotic and disordered world—an “unnatural order of things,” as mentioned in the book. The influencer-saturated digital age, combined with the hyperconnectivity of our modern society, has become the perfect hunting ground for satan. Now more than ever, he is able to lay traps that are subtle, strategic, and devastating.
Dr. Jimmy Sites—an accomplished outdoorsman and beloved hunter—recognizes this spiritual battlefield for what it is. In Decoys of Deception, he draws powerful parallels between the tactics used in hunting and the strategies the enemy employs to lure believers away from God’s truth. With Scripture-based insight and real-world stories, Dr. Sites equips readers with a battle plan to outmaneuver the ultimate deceiver. (You don’t have to be familiar with hunting to understand the metaphors)
Through the guidance of God’s Word and the clarity of Dr. Sites’ perspective, readers are reminded that they are not powerless. With spiritual awareness, discernment, and the omnipresent help of the Holy Spirit, we can identify the traps, resist the bait, and walk in truth and victory to God’s Everlasting Kingdom!
So I received this book as a giveaway here on Goodreads. It couldn’t have come at a better time. It was kind of funny- Goodreads sent the you won email to a different mailbox (or google just sorted it differently) so I didn’t see that for a couple of days. I did see the book immediately. And couldn’t figure out where it came from or why I had it. I’ve been facing a lot of spiritual opposition lately. And I wondered could God somehow know I really needed it? I mean, yes, obviously. Since I didn’t know how I ended up with the book yet I looked up the author pretty extensively. I try to be wary about teachings and stuff- and I was especially careful since I didn’t know how I got the book. I even enlisted my best friend in the search. We both concluded that there was nothing problematic about the author so I started to read. I’ll be honest. I’ve spent most of my life as a vegetarian (though i am not against other people eating what they want) so some parts of the book were a little ick- but not like, repulsive just not my jam. But I totally got the parallels being drawn with the hunting comparisons. It made sense. I agreed with many of the points made. And I especially like that the book closed with the focus on Jesus. Because that’s where our focus should be, always. I’m grateful to Dr. Sites and Goodreads for the book. I’ve encouraged my best friend and her family to read it. I both enjoyed it, and found value in it. Ok thanks!
This book by Dr Sites is an interesting read. While some of the stories are a bit outlandish, he does a good job of focusing on the primary topic of the book: keeping our eyes on our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He does so primarily by focusing on the myriad of ways the Deceiver attempts to get us to take our eyes off of God.
I was really encouraged reading this book. Satan has his eyes fixed on destroying us and it’s vital to be aware so we can guard ourselves with the truth of the word of God.
Loved this book! This would make an awesome devotional and/or Bible study book for individuals or small groups. I read through this fairly quickly; however, I plan to read it again at a slower pace foe a more in-depth study. I highly recommend this to all Christians, but even those who aren't could benefit from it.
I won a copy of this book via Goodreads Giveaways.
