Tom Small lives alone in the house he inherited from his mother three years ago. He's one of the classiest, most sophisticated gentlemen on the planet... at least in his own head. The reality is he's a deranged pervert, oblivious to his depravities, and when not debasing himself or working in the dementia care home where the residents are a lot more stable than he is, he likes nothing better than railing against society and passing judgement on those lesser individuals than him. But when a lesbian couple move in a few doors down and open a gay friendly coffee shop, it all gets too much for our small by name, small-minded by nature, main man.
A splatterpunk satire about madness, hypocrisy and passing judgement.
This book contains extreme content and should not be read by any decent member of society. For the indecent ones among you, should you try this book, please note it contains depictions of perversion (frequent) as well as some mild animal cruelty.

Luke Grant is a horror writer who lurks around the English countryside, his head lost in a haze of twisted tales, occasionally re-entering reality just long enough to write some of them down.
3.5 stars. This was a bit of an odd experience. I read splatterpunk and extreme horror at the same frequency as most people get a glass of water. I enjoyed the downright nastiness of the content and even Tom, our lead, was fun to observe. Where this lost me was the lack of focus on him. I don't want to spoil anything, but the various forms of depravity didn't match up at all. It was all so random and unfocused that it felt forced and without any context. If you're going to write a character as a sexual pervert, especially in such short form, it would be a good idea to stick with that plot point. But adding in so many other random fetishes and quirks, none of which clicked with one another or were developed much at all, just took away from what could have been a really good splatterpunk outing. Don't let me sour anyone on this, as this was my first Luke Grant read and I enjoyed a good deal of it. However, this could have curtailed some of the gross out factors and made the main character more of a priority.
Since I snagged this book for free I figure I leave a little review !
As a queer somebody who lives in a place filled with morally hypocritical people (maybe not on the level of the MMC of this book) it’s always a wild ride to read books like this. This was funny and refreshing AND DISGUSTING (but like, in a good way we love a good gross factor)!
I will say (spoiler ahead so stop read right now), while I mentally killed the MMC off in my head I wish more homophobes would gouge their eyes out irl 🏳️🌈🫀
So you guys remember Freaky Fred from Courage The Cowardly Dog? The one that emphasizes’NAUGHTY’. Well that’s what I kept picturing while reading this severely fd up book. Cringy all over the place, but still a good read.
Tom small lives in London working with patients with dementia. With a grumpy neighbour and 2 new neighbours moving in. Seeing himself as a classy individual, he is in fact repulsive and incredibly homophobic
Christ the blurb does not include how truly repulsive the content is. This man is incredibly fucked. I don’t want to spoil it too much but there is questionable acts but also creative ways of using bodily products let’s say. After an accident he ends up in a psychiatric hospital and the ending “I seem to be the last sane person on earth” made me giggle as after this book you can tell he really IS NOT sane 😂 It was funny at times just how extremely opinionated Tom is and how he reacts to things. I read this so quickly as it was just so gross yet funny. Will definitely be checking out the authors other work
So before we even start let me be clear…I’m rating this based on it being satire. For that, it’s amazingly written. I had a hard time stomaching some of the things from this book, but I couldn’t put it down no less. Obviously why I am a splatterpunk reader. I like to test the bounds of my stomach and gag reflex lol. I was impressed with the creativity of this one mostly. Our main character definitely belongs behind the padded walls he eventually finds.

Absolutely loved this! So disgusting and creepy. I couldn’t get enough. I didn’t know what was coming next. The main character was so twisted in his thinking that he was in the right and classy at that made everything better. I cannot get over his cumic figures 😆 the best splatterpunk I’ve read in a while. Can’t wait to read more by this author. 5✨
I actually found this amusing. it's about Tom who has weird sexual fetishes and thinks he's classy, it's like Tom is talking to you personally, it is satire tho ! I've realised I've a sick sense of humour 😁. the main charachter is homophobic so be prepared for that
I read it, initially as a challenge but I read it all the same! And yes, I liked it! The flow reminded me of 100% match if that style of writing is your thing. I shall be reading the other books!
This book suprised me for sure. There was some moments I was questioning things but the way everything connected had me in tears laughing. Absolutely loved it!
