Rebirth of Order is a New Adult / Un-expected Why choose/ Dark Fantasy Romance with multiple POVS. Expect epic battles, Gods playing games, and MANY morally gray love interests. Material may be difficult for some readers. Check TW.
“How many times have I stared Death in the eyes and faced an endless urge to be consumed?
Boundless.
With frequent visits in the form of lustful companions—false friends—parental figures, no amount of prayers could fix that. Enduring became my comfort. Hoping one day, Death, would find another hobby. A different game.
Optimistic.
Since I can remember, my life’s been one hell after another. One man after another. One pain… Well, the pain’s ongoing, even now as I bury my best friend. The one person who rescued me from an endless abyss.
Numb.
If attending Rosie’s funeral isn’t hard enough, finding the ‘thing’ responsible is. Death changed its game, adding new pieces, and playing by unfair rules. Fuck it, enduring is overrated anyway, so I’ll return the favor. For a vow made in my darkest moment will become a promise kept in my lightest hour. Even if I die in the process.
Devoted.
My knights in shining armor. Rather a group of deranged psychopaths. As it turns out, other realms exist. Of course they do. Being a mortal in the fay realm would make this mission harder than anticipated. At Rebirth Academy, every student enjoys a good fight. Even if it kills them. It’s their way of solving issues, and I have a problem needing just that.
Solace.
But, the fay here are…dangerous. Vampires, mind readers, vicious beast, and more. With them strengthening their magic all to become Gods—can I just click my heels and go home? Am I truly safe here, or will Death aim for a kill streak? The friends made in Valirene will either help me seek vengeance, or become another name taken. With my luck, I may have doomed them all.”

Я щойно прочитала 600 kindle сторінок дуже агресивного Frankenstein коктейлю із ДНК Solaria Universe + The Bonds That Tie.
2. З Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac
I was so excited for this one, it has so many tropes I love: academia, why choose, fated mates, etc. I actually loved that it’s a why choose with no spice but this just wasn’t for me.
The plot felt like it skipped over things, and then things I thought were a big deal were never mentioned again. I hard a time connected with the characters in a meaningful way.
At 640 pages (and being part of an 8 book series) I do not currently feel compelled enough to keep going. I do love a slow burn and maybe when more books are released I’d be willing to circle back.
I am so bummed this wasn’t the writing for me, but know others will love it! Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the e-ARC.
Kyra grew up with a target on her back. Chased by the monsters who killed her best friend, she finds herself as the only mortal at Rebirth Academy, a school for fay who seek to claim godhood. Forced to prove herself over and over, Kyra finds herself drawn to men who are anything but safe as she competes for power and life. As the danger around her intensifies
HOLY GOODNESS! The world is not ready to be swept away by Rebirth of Order. This story is perfect for fans of the Bonds That Tie, Blood of Hercules, Psycho Shifters, and every reverse harem series ever. I devoured the 600+ pages in a few days because once you start reading, it’s impossible to put down. I only wish the rest of the series was completed so I could continue to get lost in this incredible world!
Read if you like… 🗡️Deadly magic schools ✨Forbidden attraction 🗡️I hate that I care about you ✨Reverse harem slowburn 🗡️They all have cute nicknames for each other ✨A badass FMC who is still willing to be vulnerable 🗡️Training montages ✨Strong female relationships 🗡️Touch her and you die (but don’t say anything, because he wants her to think he’s still a cinnamon roll) ✨A totally understandable obsession with iced coffee 🗡️Hidden secrets and ancient prophecies ✨Flirty texting (complete with massive emoji miscommunication) 🗡️Men who out-do each other competing for her attention ✨Complicated family dynamics 🗡️Laugh out loud dialogue ✨Enemies (as in actual murder) to hopefully lovers
Thank you to the incredible D.D. Williams for an e-ARC! All thoughts and opinions remain my own.
This was sooo good, it grabbed me from the very first chapter! Equal parts heart-wrenching, magical and thrilling.
The protagonist, Kyra, was such an amazingly intricate character!! Her emotions were so relatable, and her determination to carve out her own place in a dangerous world makes her easy to root for.
I wasnt sure what to expect of the romance with the "why choose"-dynamic, but let me tell you the tension is INTENSE. The slow-burn and enemies to lovers moments are perfectly drawn out-enough to keep you hooked, but never so much that it gets boring.
What really stood out to me was the world-building. It didnt come short like i feel it usually does in academia settings. The lore was so layered, to the point where it sometimes almost felt a little overwhelming. It kept making me want to know more about how this world ticks.
My only critique would be that sometimes the pacing felt a bit slow, whilst in other parts, there was so much lore being dropped that I had a hard time understanding it all.
Nevertheless, by the end, i was completely invested! The book is a dark fantasy romance that doesnt shy away from pain, passion and power struggles in a world full of gods, monsters and forbidden love.
If you liked Zodiac Academy, The Plated Prisoner or Bloodwing Academy, this is for you!!
I hope you are ready for a fantastic fantasy adventure, this will be a 8 book series. The first book did not disappoint, the world building and magic system are intuitive and explained to the MC. There are a lot of different characters and different POV, I loved that aspect and couldn't stop trying to solve all the mysteries and unravel the secrets. The Ending is fitting and done really well, there's obviously a lot of open questions but there are several books coming, so here I am anxiously waiting.
If you liked the crave series by Tracy Wolff this is definitely for you!
Thank you to the author D.D. Williams and Nerdfam for trusting me with this eArc.
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BOOK I’VE EVER READ!! I’m seriously obsessed with the world, characters, magic system….just everything!
It sucks you in and doesn’t let go. It’s seriously like watching a movie, but I felt everything. Every character is different with strong personalities, the fights were intense, and the magic displayed was unique and different to the genre.
Did I mention it’s super ADDICTIVE? What’s in this book?! I couldn’t stop laughing and now I have new book boyfriend and book girlfriend.
If you want a new take on the why choose trope, a mystery with so much lore you’ll spend hours theorizing, or just an entertaining fun time. THIS IS A MUST READ!!
4.5⭐️ I fear i ate this up and left no crumbs omggg. I loved how I was immediately sucked in from the very beginning! Like a baddie FMC who gets taken to another realm and forced to attend an academy with different species of fae?! I WAS SAT. But then we throw in the fact that it’s WHY CHOOSE, with enemies to lovers (like they were really trying to off one another), likable (and hilarious) side characters, and a slow burn romance with multiple MMCS?! LIKEEEE, I’m foaming at the mouth to see these relationships progress!!! Then, don’t get me started on the riddles, and Gods, and secrets… like… I WAS GLUED TO MY KINDLE. Ugh, this was SO good and I’m so ready for the next book!
Also.. LMAO= laughing my ass off 🚫 LMAO= luckily murders an option✅
Big thanks to Nerdfam for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Sadly, this one wasn’t a good fit for me, and I ended up putting it down pretty early. The writing style just didn’t click. I found the phrasing awkward and overly descriptive, which made the flow feel a bit jarring. Even though I went in prepared for the heavy themes, the tone came across as more brash and harsh than I personally enjoy.
I know plenty of readers love bold, intense prose, so I think this could still find its audience it just isn’t mine.
This is book is dark, cinematic, and utterly addictive—a sweeping fantasy where gods meddle, battles burn, and love tangles itself into a deliciously slow, “why-choose” storm of longing. Vivid world-building and a grief-stricken heroine make it as raw as it is epic, and the romance simmers with the kind of tension that hurts so good. This isn’t just a book you read; it’s one that consumes you
I loved the tropes, the cover and the blurb for this one so I was excited when I saw I was gifted with an arc. Unfortunately, this just wasn't for me.
While the story started out very interesting and with tons of action that sucked me in, the story started dragging for me around the 25% mark.
I really loved Angie, who was probably my favorite character because she was so fun and intriguing. I loved the dynamic between Angie and Ethan, and honestly, I wanted them to end up together (assuming they were step-siblings instead of half-siblings, though this wasn't super clear to me?). However, the main character was not Angie, the main character was Kyra. I found Kyra to be tough at first, but she quickly slipped into very juvenile territory once arriving at the academy. There were things that happened and conversations that didn't feel realistic for characters this age, but more for middle schoolers.
I also think the story had a lot of main characters introduced very quickly, which was a bit much, while the plot dragged, making it hard to connect with the characters or what was going on within the story.
I will note, this is one of I think eight planned books, so perhaps this will be perfect for someone with a bit more patience than myself! Ultimately, this just wasn't for me, but it may be for you if you enjoy Zodiac Academy and Cruel Prince.
Thank you to D.D. Williams and The Nerd Fam for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
Beta Read:- Where should I even start??? This book was such a masterpiece, the characters the emotions the whole world building and omg the intense slow burn and the tension aaaahhhhhh This book is set to kill me over and over again like literally 🥹🥹🥹🥹.. I've never loved fantasy like this before and that cliffhanger 😩😩😩😩 I broke me literally into pieces🫠🫠🫠.. Soo much happened within the world of RA and there's soo many missing pieces to the puzzle I can't solely wait for Book 2 and I needed it like yesterday 😩😩
This book starts with a bang and never slows down! If you’re craving a fast-paced, action-packed dark romance with plenty of heat and steam, this is the book for you! This will be a part of an 8-book series, but trust me, it’s worth it!
The book is told from multiple POV’s but our main character, Kyra, is grieving her best friend’s death. Death surrounds Kyra, and she can’t seem to figure out why. Soon, Kyra finds herself at Rebirth Academy and in a brand new world. The world is a little different than the one she normally lives in; there is magic, and now Kyra must prove that she has magic and prove herself worthy of staying.
This is a why choose romance, and I loved all the men that we were introduced to! In the beginning, we meet Ethan, who hates Kyra. He wants to kill her because he doesn’t believe that she has powers. You can feel the tension between them, and it does not let up! I loved getting to read from the guy’s POV, especially Ethan! I felt like reading from his POV really showed what he thought of Kyra and how he viewed her.
I absolutely loved the magic system in this book! It felt refreshingly original and well thought out. One of my favorite things about the book was how we got to discover the world and its magic alongside the main character. It just made everything feel so immersive and real. The story is packed with twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. When Kyra was about to find out which magic she’d have?? I was biting my nails, tense, and desperate to know what happened next! Also, that ending?!!? I need to know what happens next!! I knew that this would be left on a cliffhanger since it’s going to be an 8 book series, but dang, I need the next one now!!
There are things I wished I had known before I started this book, and the first (and most important one) is that this book is the first of a projected eight-book series. If there’s one thing I feel is important to tell potential readers it’s that this series will be a time investment, both before and after it’s complete. Rebirth of Order is 640 pages long, and I am of the belief each book will be just as long as this one.
The second matter is that debut author D. D. Williams has an atypical writing style that threw me off for a good while during my reading and it took me some time to acclimate to it. Once I did acclimate I can’t say that I’m completely on board with her stylistic choice but I respect it.
Rebirth of Order is, at its core, a portal fantasy with a large fish-out-of-water aspect to it as the protagonist, Kyra, is moved from the Earth realm to the Fay realm after an encounter with some dark creatures who seem to want something from Kyra even though she’s mortal. Kyra has her own reasons for wanting to learn more about the Fay realm once she gets there, but it seems like the gods have a great deal in store for her that has been hidden from everyone.
I did enjoy the characters in this book, as well as the worldbuilding. The plotting of this book was very well thought-out and it ends at a point that feels rather natural to the story, setting up the next installment nicely. Williams has a note that should be paid attention to at the beginning of the book stating that many things may seem like they’re left open, but it’s for a reason and will be resolved later. There are also codes and clues sprinkled throughout the book. I didn’t really keep track myself because I was too busy reading and ADD was focused, but readers who enjoy puzzles and easter eggs might like it. I consider myself intrigued and wanting to know more. 4⭐️
I was provided a copy of this title by the author and The Nerd Fam. All thoughts, opinions, views, and ideas expressed herein are mine and mine alone. Thank you.
From the very first page, I was hooked and the pace never let me go. Every chapter ends with that “just one more” energy, and suddenly it’s 2 AM and you’re still flipping pages.
The atmosphere is pitch-perfect….shadowy threats, enemies lurking in every corner, and a heroine who refuses to back down even when the world is stacked against her. Kyra is fierce, flawed, and exactly the kind of main character you want leading the charge in a dark academy fantasy.
The writing itself is vivid and cinematic. You can hear the thunder, feel the glass shatter, smell the smoke, and the action scenes read like they’re happening in real time. It’s dark, it’s sharp, but it’s also layered with moments of resilience and hope that keep you rooting for Kyra every step of the way.
And the best part? You can feel that this is just the beginning. The story drops breadcrumbs and puzzle pieces everywhere, making it clear book one is laying the foundation for something much bigger to come. I’m absolutely strapped in for the rest of this series.
✨ Tropes you’ll find inside: 🌑 Found family (scarred, fractured, and forged in chaos) 👥 Enemies at every turn, treacherous and shadowed 💔 Trauma, grief, and survival at the core 🏫 Academy fantasy with secrets waiting to unravel 🔥 Slow burn tension (relationships + plot definitely worth the wait)
✨ You’ll like this if you enjoy: ⚔️ Dark, twisty urban/academy fantasy with teeth 👩🦱 Fierce heroines who won’t surrender 🎬 Cinematic writing that plays like a movie in your head 😱 Stories that keep you guessing what’s real, what’s hidden, and what’s coming next
Final word: Fast-paced, dark, and completely addictive. Five stars, no question, I’m already impatient for the next installment in the Rebirth Academy series.
Thank you to D.D. Williams and The Nerd Fam for entrusting me with an early copy!
New Adult Dark Fantasy Romance (modern day) Multiple POVs, dark academia/dangerous academy, found family, slowww burn, on the way to why choose, lots of morally grey love interests, shapeshifters/vampires/fay, answer for answer game, enemies to… it's complicated, fated mates, so many nicknames, elemental plus more magic, tragic pasts, mysterious power, secrets, monsters, multiple he trains her, great female friendships, iced coffee obsession, humor with confusion over human sayings and abbreviations, puzzles and easter eggs, cliffhanger! Zodiac Academy x Dark Fae x Her Vicious Beasts vibes Please check the content warnings
I love when I feel like I need to reread a book immediately to try to catch more things that I missed, and this book did that! This first book was a lot of building out the world and all the characters. This book sucked me in and I couldn't put it down. The way it was done keeps the reader guessing about the magic and the way of the academy and the motives/powers of the characters! It's a good thing this is an eventual why choose, because I don't want to choose! I'm looking forward to reading the next book!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Rebirth of Order, and wow—this book completely consumed me. From the very first page, I literally could not put it down.
This fantasy why choose had my head spinning in the best way. Kyra is such a fierce heroine. Even as a mortal in a magical realm, she refuses to let anyone underestimate her. She takes zero crap from anyone, and I adored every moment of her strength, sass, and resilience.
The tension between Kyra and the male characters? Off the charts. Every interaction had me holding my breath, and the dynamics were as intense as they were addicting. The plot never let up either—every chapter had me in a chokehold, demanding I keep reading.
If you love the magic and school vibes of Harry Potter mixed with the drama and romance of Zodiac Academy, this is a must-read. D.D. Williams has delivered a story that’s bold, addictive, and unforgettable.
I just finished Rebirth of Order and it was truly amazing. From the moment I started, the worldbuilding grabbed me, the magic felt vivid, and the many morally gray love interests added layer upon layer of intrigue.
What really stole my heart were the characters. Kyra is such a strong heroine relentless, brave, even when she feels like she’s about to break, she keeps fighting. And Angie? Absolutely my fave. She brings levity, loyalty, so much warmth. Among the love interests, Blaise, Caspian, and Horus stand out they’ve become my favorites I also really like Niro ( Ethan though… I’m not here for him at all).
The tension, the stakes, the way gods seem to play with fate, and the idea of bonds that feel fated but maybe more complicated than they seem it all keeps me turning pages long into the night. This is fantasy romance done with heart, grit, and danger, and I can’t wait for whatever comes next.
From the very first page, I was hooked on this book. Knowing it’s a multi-book series, I was eager for the world building to be exceptional and D.D. did not disappoint. The characters and plot were thoroughly crafted, immediately drawing me in and keeping me turning the pages. Each character was written with unique abilities and characteristics, which helped build a strong attachment to them. It felt like I was truly in the book. The in depth descriptions of each scene created a vivid movie like experience in my mind. Additionally, I really enjoyed the unexpected twists and turns introduced by the author, along with the subtle codes hidden throughout the book. This is definitely a book to add to the reread pile, along with a permanent spot on my physical shelf 💗
This book sounded like it was exactly my jam and I tried to love it, but sadly it wasn‘t for me. The characters and the plot were overall intriguing, but the writing style made it so I was left in a constant state of confusion and while I get that this was intentional it began to annoy me. Aside from Kyra and Angie all characters came with little to no explanation. Who are they? Which role do they play? What even is this Academy? And what‘s the point of this book/series? Every page left me more confused than the last. And I‘m sorry, but that just wasn‘t my thing right now.
I do know some people who enjoyed this book and I probably will give it another chance some time, but right now I just can‘t commit to all this confusion.
Thank you to the author and The Nerdfam for gifting me an ARC. All opinions are my own.
I couldn’t put Rebirth of Order down. It was one of my top reads of the year overall, but especially Romantasy.
Kyra finds herself in quite the pickle… recently bereaved by the tragic death of her best friend, Kyra is seeking answers - because what took her friend’s life wasn’t of this world. While on pursuit of answers she finds herself in another realm, surrounded by fae and at Rebirth Academy - and must prove she’s not just another mortal girl. Spoiler - she’s far from it. But, this books leave more questions on the table than answers and provides an abundance of Easter eggs. Oh, and she like had 7 or 8 bonded mates… so, that’s like, fun. Who are they? Well, we learn of one and have a lot of guesses for the others. Time will reveal all. Oh, and like, the ended is fire.
If you like the following, you’ll love this one:
Zodiac Academy, Spell Caster, Fourth Wing, Her Feral Beasts. And also loved Carrion Swift from Quicksilver and want that side kick love - but make it female.
Dragons, Magic, legit enemies to lovers, epic battles, shifters, bonded mates, secrets, lies, mystery, Easter eggs, and an unexpected why choose… just read it. I promise you’ll thank you!
A big ole thank you to Nerd Fam and the author for letting me have an ARC of this!
4.1 Stars! This story honestly is really good. I loved the plot and the characters were well executed. The magic system and world building was phenomenal and I enjoyed every new scene/ adventure our characters were on. Also… Alex????? Helllloooooo???
Also also.. I’m obsessed with Angie.
I think the author’s idea of clues and mysteries is super fun and I can’t wait to see where they take it next!!
Obviously with an arc, there are always some edits that I hope the author and their team will work through. I do think the pacing could be a little better, but again… editing will fix that!
Okay first of all.. wow. It took me quite a few chapters to really get pulled into this one.. but after that I couldn’t stop reading. I have SO many questions. This book was amazing. Kyra is an amazing FMC.. and I absolutely LOVE all of the MMC’s. (Minus Ethan but I have a feeling I will love him in the next book)
Thanks to the author and NerdFam for this eArc! This was a great read for spooky season! I really enjoyed the magic within this book. Also, the beginning sucked me in. I loved how atmospheric it was. And how Kyra was down to the fight.
And when they got to the academy, I feel like I was there.
I loved the characters! Kyra is a bad@ss! Overall, a good read!
In my opinion, I think this book has a lot of potential, but there are portions that need to be edited out that are far too similar to ZA, Ruthless Boys, and The Bonds that Tie.
For example:
The FMC is plucked from the mortal realm and brought to a Fae Academy where she wants to seek vengeance for the death of her best friend.
She attends a ceremony called “The Awakening” where she is supposed to learn her “order”.
She is a hacker and learns about other students abilities. She also is ranked last at the academy where students can challenge each other for their ranking. (Ruthless Boys)
The character likes to use words to spell funny and lewd acronyms. (ZA)
She also learns about the different bonds that are very similar to ZA. She has multiple bonds. (BTT)
One of her potential bonds is a shadow wielder who gives her a piece of one of his shadow animals and it crawls up her arm and settles under her collar… much like Brutus in Bonds that Tie.
While all of that could be argued to be similar but not exact (and there are many differences in the plot, which is quite good if I could ignore all the concerns), we then meet Elder Kraven.
Elder Kraven (who is a professor for all intents and purposes) wears tight revealing clothing and speaks in humorous perverted ways that gross out the students. (He is EXTREMELY Washer from ZA coded.)
The book didn’t need any of these elements to make it good and I think it was a failure in editing. The parts that were TOO “inspired by” need to be removed.
The plot can stand alone without a lot of this.
I am not pointing fingers or alleging anything anything. I am begging this author to get a better editor because they have a PR nightmare on their hands with this book.
I think the author is very talented. But I can’t give this book a good rating until the above is fixed.
Thanks to Nerd Fam for the gifted e-ARC. I read all 600 something pages and I wish the author the best of luck.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I was really excited to start this book because, according to posts I saw on tiktok, the story features many popular tropes and themes like romantasy, why choose, enemies to lovers, academy setting, and fated mates.
However, I couldn’t connect with any of the characters, the world, or the story. It was frustrating as I barely got any information about the fmc’s backstory, the world or universe, the magical system, or the mmcs. It felt like I was being dragged from one scene to the next without a real plotline that I could follow. The fmc spoke with so many male characters that I’m not even sure which ones are supposed to be her mates.
The writing style felt chaotic which made me feel confused about the type of relationship the fmc has with the other characters. It felt like I was jumping from one conversation to another without really getting new information or seeing any significant relationship development. I totally understand that this is supposed to be a slow burn series but there just wasn’t enough progress with regard to relationships. There wasn’t enough pining, tension or real interaction between the fmc and her possible future love interests.
All in all, this book left me more confused at the end than I was at the beginning.
Thank you to Nerd Fam and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this arc.
We started off pretty well, but it RAPIDLY went down hill. The writing was giving...publishing my Wattpad fan fic. Examples: overuse of italics for internal thoughts and using * for actions instead of writing them out. Instead of "she sighed" it was *sigh*...not joking.
I got taken out of the world by hysterical laughter over a whole scene of some NPC male and his elephant size penis. It was so ridiculous. It wasn't a comedy moment at all, but I couldn't stop laughing over the description and the FMC basically salivating over it (apparently that part was magically induced *insert eyeroll here*). What finally killed it for me was literal glowing "this way" arrows on the ground to help the FMC get to a bar. Like...the kind in a video game that show you the way to a quest point. Seriously?????
This is one of those books where a lot happens but nothing particularly important except for two lines at the end. Honestly I'm still baffled by what I've read.
Still not sure if that's good or bad.
There is slow burn then there is this... No burn lol
How many times was the word "sneer" used??? At some points I was wondering if the author actually knew what the word meant. Sorry but it had to be said.
I don't understand Kyras breakdown with Alex. This is the girl almost everyone has seen in just hoodies and g strings... Suddenly Kyra doesn't want to be seen half naked (bra and panties).... Girl!!
The dragon thing, the invisible chap, Kyras seeming out of nowhere powers, the information about her.... Yeah this needs a book 2.
I can't say I recommend this, so at your own discretion.
Disappointing is just one word I have to use to describe my experience. As someone who loves why choose I was so excited when this got picked as one of my book club’s picks. That is until I got into it. My head is still spinning from all of the scattered information. The romance while it could have been a slow burn felt too weak for the emotions they were trying to create. I did like her best friend character a lot. Great banter between them at least. By the time I reached the end of the book and should have been an emotional wreck all I wanted to do was throw my kindle in anger. I felt let down when this had the potential to be really good. Needless to say I won’t be reading book 2.
