Wrangled Up: A Contemporary Western MMF Romance

Rate this book
Each year, apple farmer, Cassidy, cattle farmer, Rhett, and distillery owner, Jacob, pool their resources to put on their rural town's most beloved event: the Fall Festival.

What none of the happy festival-goers know? The three of them can't stand working together.

At least... until a little too much spiked cider and some long-overdue fun shines a light on a different side of all of them. One that's a lot less "control freak" and a lot more "out of control."

Wrangled Up is a smutty, ~32k-word "why choose" novella where they all fall for each other. There is minimal plot, loads of spice, and a sprinkling of fun and games.

Cassidy, Rhett, and Jacob have a great working relationship, combining their strengths as distillers, cider masters, and harvesting to facilitate seasonal festivals that keep their respective ranches lucrative, but more often than not the trio take shots at each other and grate on one anothers’ nerves - until one long drinks-heavy meeting after hours results in a physical encounter none of them saw coming.

Will this newly formed threesome flame out with the festival’s end? Or will these three souls find a way to keep it going indefinitely?

A super steamy great time, lots of smashing, little conflict, and lots of sweetness amongst the smut.

I was fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from booksirens, and I’m sharing my honest review.

If you're looking for a spice-filled short story with just a dash of plot, then this is the book for you. Cassidy, Rhett, and Jacob have known each other for years — until they discover just how much fun they can have together.

The story is sweet, and while the bulk of the narrative focuses on the steamy scenes, there's still room for real feelings and a bit of plot development. I really liked how the three of them learned to communicate and build a relationship that none of them expected, but all of them needed.

I especially appreciated the development of the MM side of the relationship — it felt natural, unforced, and wasn’t rushed, which made it even more enjoyable to read.

While it’s a short story, I didn’t feel like anything was missing. There’s not a deep emotional backstory, but I still felt connected to the characters and invested in their dynamic.

If you’re in the mood for a quick, spicy read to pass a couple of hours, this one will hit the spot!

Tropes: co workers-to-lovers, small-town romance, MMF triad
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (4/5 – definitely steamy!)
Content warning: This story contains explicit MMF scenes and open-door intimacy.

How do you like them apples?

The answer is, I like them very, very much. Mandy’s latest spicy tale features apple farmer Cassidy, cattle rancher Rhett and distillery owner Jacob as their business arrangements turn personal. While working together on the annual Fall Festival, their usual animosity crumbles in the face of the truth — they may drive each other crazy, but they crave each other even more. As the festival draws to a close, will their connection do the same?

This book … whew! 🥵 Steam and spice and ohhhh so nice. I loved all three characters (though I related most to overthinker Rhett) and the perfect balance they found together. And I love that it wasn’t angsty. Some books can be emotionally exhausting, so I really appreciate ones that dial up romance (preferably spicy) rather than drama. When they’re this well-written, they’re even more of a delight.

I will certainly never look at autumn apples, hay rides and bounce houses the same way, but I’ll be happy for them to make me remember this book.

I should have known better... the cover should have given it away, but I still always have hope... this book just wasn't for me, I wanted more from the romance than from the erotica side of things... the book is short, with solely 15 chapters, and multiple sex scenes, and each lasting more than one chapter, it left very little for the romance itself to develop...
It is friends to lovers, which I rather appreciate, and they had nice banter, but I was not given enough time for it to develop... it jumped into the smut too fast, and then you didn't see the reasons and feelings to becoming more than a hook up...
Again, while there wasn't enough, I really like the conversations and thoughts about sexual orientation, the struggle from both men to understand their feelings for each other and what they thought about themselves - I really like the book giving time for them to have these feelings develop.
Truly this book does nothing wrong, it's just not for me, if you're looking for a fun smutty read, this is a fun one :)

Rhett, Cassidy, and Jacob are business partners that work together to put on a fall festival. They frequently butt heads but are still able to pull off the event every year. In this short novella, they discover that they have non-business partner feelings for each other … and one night act on them.

The description of the book, the cover, and the MFM plot line should give away the main premise of this book. I could definitely see though that there is plot that could have been developed to go deeper into their work to put on the festival, etc. It's an interesting take where you got MFM to MMF; I think that could have also been interesting to dig deeper into Rhett and Jacob's mindset to their openness for more with each other.

Is it the next greatest novella? No. Was it highly enjoyable? Yes.

I loved this book. It was a fun, steamy read. I loved Rhett, Jacob, and Cassidy. I liked how their business was intertwined together, yet they bickered so much when they had to meet up to plan things out. It was really cute.

“You’ll be fine, Captain Cautious. Nobody’s gonna give you a DUI for driving a tractor through the middle of nowhere at fifteen miles an hour.”

Even when they tumbled into a ditch it turned out to be funny.

“Wow. Is that a regular part of the tour? ‘Cause if so, I take back what I said about it being boring.”
“We’re alright... I had a pretty big cushion to break my fall, thankfully.”
“Callin’ me fat?” Jacob teased.

When things finally got heated between them, they got HEATED! I loved their dynamic. One taking control, one happy to follow orders, and one wanting it all. 5 stars.

Cassidy, Jacob and Rhett work together every year to put on the Fall Festival for their community, but that doesn’t mean that they get along with each other. As they’re finishing up the preparations for the Festival, they share some bourbon and a bumpy tracker ride which loosens everyone’s inhibitions, and they find that they may all like each other a whole lot more than they’ve been letting on. This story follows Cassidy, Jacob and Rhett as they explore their relationship as a threesome – it’s super spicy, erotic and explicit and will leave you in the mood to saddle up 😊.

If you went in to this book looking for a plot heavy romance novel featuring some hot cowboys, then this isn't the book for you. But if you went in looking for the spice, some apple cider along with cowboys then hop on the hayride!! This book has minimal plot but what plot it does have is adorable, and makes me enjoy the spice that much more. The spice…… YES, it was great. I didn't just read this whole book in a couple hours, I devoured it.

Now do I wish that read this book in the fall with my cozy sweater and a hot spiked apple cider, yes, yes I do. But its was great without all those things.

I think these three need to do more festivals in the future. So many more opportunities for secret moments. ;)

Cassidy, Rhett and Jake have been friends and business partners for years, but it takes one pumpkin festival to push their relationship in a different direction.

A sweet and spicy story following the three MC's sexual exploits during a Halloween festival. Exploits that eventually cut deeper into their partnership and lead to some honest soul searching and spicy fun!

Fall festival will never be the same now that Cassidy, Rhett and Jacob are living their best thruple life!.

The book I’m reviewing today is titled, Wrangled Up: A Contemporary Western MMF Romance which is the fourth installment of The Knockin' Boots book series written by Mandy Mackay. I enjoyed this story. It was a fun, steamy read. I loved Rhett, Jacob, and Cassidy’s character. I liked how their businesses were intertwined together, yet they fussed a lot when they had to meet up to plan things out. It was really endearing.

WRANGLED UP was surprisingly sweet considering this high heat romance was all about the spice. I loved Jacob's flirty quips, Rhett's shy softness, and Cassidy's spunk. They might have started out as contentious business partners but a little too much cider and a late night hay ride had this trio giving in to all their desires

This was another great book by Mandy Mackay and I just love the way she writes her characters and how easily she builds the intimacy between the MCs.

THIS! This right here is how novellas are meant to be! Ms. Mandy Mackay understood the assignment, and it shined in Wrangled Up! This novella was the hottest thing I’ve read outside of certain lit websites, but also, ALSO, it was soooo well done! We had character growth, we had an appropriate amount of time passing, we had love… seriously, this was so well done. I’m so glad I read this!

This is a book about Cassidy, Jacob and Rhett. While getting ready to put on the fall festival they have an intimate moment. The story takes us through coming to terms with the growing feelings of the guys with Cassidy, Cassidy with the guys, the new feelings of the guys with each other, and their decisions to see where this unconventional relationship ends up.

Buckle up; this is a hot and steamy ride! Jake, Rhett, and Cassidy have been business partners for a while. The attraction has been simmering just below the surface, and now it is coming out. I enjoyed this book so much. It is a low-drama, high-heat read. These three characters are fun and hot. Excellent steamy book!

This is the first book I have read by Mandy Mackay. I really enjoyed this book. The beginning had no spice, but the end had a quite a bit. The guys had a b!-awakening. Their past behavior has come into a new light for the three of them. There is more nicknames used than actual names. Jake/Jacob, Cassidy/Baby/Babe and Rhett/Sunshine (which he hates). They are three business partners, not really friends, so what does this turn into?

This book had all feels, for the chemistry between Jacob, Rhett and Cassidy and how three of them can work together on a farm and putting their love aside so the farm can keep the farm running is absolutely amazing.

So spicy so not recommending to anyone under the age of 18.

Huge cowboy fan so it definitely made me feel like I was making love to Jacob and Rhett wishing my own boyfriend was dressed up as a cowboy lol

I started this expecting a fun, steamy quick read—and it definitely delivered—but it also surprised me with so much more. At its heart, it’s a story about three people coming together, exploring not just passion and desire, but also love, trust, and genuine connection. Packed with loads of spice, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This one was a slow starter, I really didn’t think they fit together, but the it just got good! Their interaction was fantastic. The idea you love who you love and want what you want. It doesn’t matter who it is. I like how they bring out the best in each other. As always this series is great and this author is fantastic.

Plot? I don't need one.
These three hold a fall festival each year, but don't really get along. Until one drunken night, they get along real good.

My favorite part was Jake and Rhett's bi awakenings. They both feel a strong connection that first night and slowly test the waters until they realize it's a mutual attraction.

This is just pure spicy fun.

Three is Key
Cassidy, Rhett and Jake are business partners that bicker and snipe while they plane the Fall Festival. That energy turns lustful however, after one fateful hayride. I truly enjoyed the evolution of these three’s relationship - their chemistry was delicious and the scenes were steamy. A delightfully spicy read.

This was such a fun short story. Nothing like a pair of cowboys and the girl that brings them together. I loved the idea of the festival and how that was the catalyst for them being together. That hay ride? Yep, sign me up. And the scene in the bouncy house? Hot, so hot!!.

Hot Dayum!

This book is spicy and so good. 🤌 It is a mix of mfm, mmf, mf and mm and it was delicious. The banter, the connection, I devoured all of it.
From business partners to so much more.
Cassidy, Rhett and Jacob never thought this is where they would end up.
