Jeff expected his Thanksgiving trip home to Nevada to be as dull as ever. Dry weather, boring people, the same old faces--he hated visiting his hometown. But this year, something unexpected happens: he runs into Jamie.
Jamie, the high school football star with the angelic face, was everyone's friend back then. He was voted 'Most Likely to Succeed' and was Jeff's best friend since kindergarten. He knew all of Jeff's secrets and flaws. And Jeff may or may not have kissed Jamie a few times in those teenage years... Maybe more than just a few times.
Now, Jeff has a serious girlfriend, and he and Jamie have been out of each other's lives for four years. Jeff insists he's not gay and that what happened with Jamie was just a phase. It was just...a weird thing. But seeing Jamie again stirs up old feelings and challenges everything Jeff thought he knew about himself.
This Thanksgiving, Jeff will have to confront the past he thought he left behind and decide what his future truly holds. Will he continue to deny his true feelings, or will he finally embrace the truth he's been running from?
M. Anderson (or just Em) writes spicy, heartfelt MM romance for readers who crave "squishy," feel-good love stories that still pack a serious emotional punch. This is childhood friends to more romance, featuring Jeff snd Jamie, and is a standalone book.
When Jeff returns to his hometown in Nevada, he’s surprised to reconnect with his childhood best friend Jamie—and even more surprised by the unresolved feelings from their teenage years that come rushing back.
This is a heartwarming, humorous at times story that explores bisexual awakening, self discovery, their emotions, found family, and the messy, beautiful path to a second change at true love. The first part of the book was quite fast paced but then it slowed down enough where I could enjoy the story more. I loved the bonus scene at the end.
Things to expect in this book are: Standalone MM romance Single POV Small town Childhood friends Fast beginning Reconnecting Teenage crush Cheat with each other Bi awakening Awkward date Not right time Little bit of drama Second chance Some spicy times Coming out Found family HEA
This is a super quick and sweet read that is perfect for anyone who loves a story that is purely about two people falling in love and navigating a relationship with one another. I know the author is working on a rewrite and I’d be excited to read it and see if more details about the characters’ backstory / scenes from their past have been added. Also I love friendship and I love how much Jeff values Lucy as well as Jamie. Yay!!!
Pretty much what I expected from a writing standpoint for a former Wattpad romance, but I started reading this on the plane because I didn’t have much else downloaded and the cover was pretty. I giggled, I was sad, it made me feel the usual second chance emotions but nothing standout and a little weird at times. Cute though!
✨ Oh, how I just love love love this book!! Home in Nevada is such a cosy, heart-squeezing, feel-good read 🩷 and following Jeff’s journey—through all the messy, beautiful highs and lows—was just EVERYTHING.
I read the first version last year and adored it back then, but this updated version?? Even better!! 😍 I was lucky enough to read it early, and I swear, it made me feel all gooey inside in the best way. I didn’t want to put it down!
Okay, but we have to talk about Jeff and Jamie 🥹💕 Their connection? Their chemistry?? Their miscommunications (that totally made sense for them!)??? Perfection. Jeff didn’t just snap his fingers and have it all figured out—he had to work through it, and it made his growth feel so real. Also… himbo energy? 10/10. Loved him.
And Jamie?? Sweet, steady, confident Jamie—ugh, I adored how he knew what he wanted and never wavered. 🥰
The long-distance aspect? OOF. It hurt sometimes 💔 but it also made the payoff so worth it. I was rooting for them every step of the way.
Now let’s give Lucy her flowers 🌸🌟 because she absolutely stole every scene she was in. She’s the BFF we all need—fierce, loyal, and endlessly supportive. The way she stood by Jeff and encouraged him to go for Jamie? Tears. She needs her own book with her big HEA. Manifesting that right now. 💕📚
If you’re looking for a second chance romance full of charm, heart, and all the feels, Home in Nevada will wrap you up like your fave cosy blanket 🩷 I just love this book so much and I know you will too.
I absolutely loved this. It's obvious that this is a young author with a lot of room to grow, which is thrilling, as this was an absolutely sparkling read that practically flew off the page. All of the characters are just so REAL and their thoughts and feelings are so truthful and genuine. They screw up, hurt each other for no reason, realize it, make up, screw up again, just like real people. The romance was so believable. I gobbled this one up in a couple of hours and immediately bought it instead of just returning to KU. Absolutely well worth the read, cannot WAIT to see what Anderson comes up with in the future.
This one was a hard read in the best way. There were times while reading this I SWORE M Anderson was just writing about my own life. I'm about to get in my feelings so good luck to you, reader.
Jeff, the MC in this book grew up in a small town east of Reno, Nevada and moved to LA for college.
Guess what? I also moved from a small town east of Reno to LA for college. When I tell you my jaw was on the floor reading that.
While I did not have a second chance romance in Nevada like Jeff + Jamie. I did have a boyfriend in California while I lived in Nevada. This book had me reminiscing about the secret phone calls, the weekend visits, the drunk fights and making out on the beach like we had no care in the world. This story is one big nostalgic, indie film, with that dreamy bloom filter, warm colors, and all the wonderfully confusing feelings you get when falling in love at 22.
There was just so much in Jeff I saw in myself, the anger, the feeling of being lost and trying to find yourself. I'm so glad Jeff has Jamie.
While my first boyfriend may of not been my Jamie, I have do have a lovely husband now who I'm about to take home to Nevada for the first time to that tiny little town east of Reno. To say I'm terrified to go back for a bit is an understatement, even after moving away 14 years ago, some feelings are hard to let go of but if Jeff + Jamie can be brave, I think I can too. <3
This book hit so many of my favorite tropes! Small town, friends to lovers, nostalgia! SO cute! I loved every moment with these boys, even the moments that totally make me weepy. <3
