Interconnected standalone (to the Set of White Wings)
Genre: dark romance
Riley has been caught, her skills as a hacker are pretty darn good, but let’s just say that well… she got caught this time, along with her team. If she wants to stay out of prison, she’ll have to prove herself and infiltrate her boss’s enemy territory. To find informations about the so called Butcher. She didn’t count on finding a family there. She didn’t think her fling would also become something way more than what they both agreed upon. But her lies lay heavy upon her as the clock is ticking, and the web becomes more intricate as the days go by…
Riley: a somewhat relatable, down to earth woman with a mission. Kyle: a chaotic, infuriating pest. Kyley: a prolific team that knows themselves in and out of the bedroom.
I knew I would love Kyle from his appearances in the set of White Wings, but to understand him now on another level was quite satisfying. He’s so unserious and chaotic, yet… As for Riley, amidst contracted k1ll3rs, she’s the most relatable so far, with her need for validation and to belong somewhere, with someone. I’m not usually one to read an “established” couple (well, more like an established fcking) because I feel like I missed half of the fun, but no. This isn’t the case here. Avery can make me read tropes that I’m hesitant about and that’s amazing when we find that author for us.
WoL was well paced, the progression steady and stressful, the scenes betweeen the protagonists were just so cute and heartwarming despite the ugliness of the world. Rest assured, it was not ALL cutesy though…
Thanks so much to Avery for the arc, I closed the last page being bittersweet Kyler’s journey was over. Once again, I repeat that I will read ANYTHING you put out to the world and cheer with you🍷🖤

Kyle (36) and Riley (26) had the most intense romance , friends with benefits but both in denial about falling for each other and they soon found themselves trapped in the lies of their past and present . Riley, a hacker had chased the tail of the butcher. Obsessed to seek out the identity of this psychotic man ,a murderer that not only butchered his victims but was a hit man and sold their meat for human consumption( cannibalism is one of the triggers !) but unknown to her he was closer to her than she was believed to have thought .
Under all the red flags that were screaming out of the pages , Kyle had redemption arc - he loved hard, he protected her ( he showed this in the most unhinged ways ) he was loyal and was ready to help her become brave, build strength and to take back her confidence and power ! A web of lies , betrayal and secrets that slowly unravelled but for once Riley wasn’t alone .
I enjoyed this so much ! I was so happy to catch up with Noah and Evelyn too ! Those two live in my head rent free !

I can't say enough how great it is to have Kyle's story in my hands! 😍 Web of Lies took me on quite the adventure and I loved every second of it! When I first found White Wings of Desire, and got a glimpse of Kyle, I KNEW I needed his story! And I feel like Avery definitely delivered!
There are so many secrets and lies going on in this story, I was NOT expecting where it went. Kyle has always been the dark yet funny guy. He's always got a good one liner up his sleeve! Yet, there's something else there that he keeps tucked away from Riley. And Riley, our resident hacker with her own secret, she's so bold and I loved getting to know her character!
These two have insane chemistry and the spice is unhinged! I LOVE a tattoo moment and this one definitely does not disappoint. 🤌🏼🔥 Also, the pets in this book got me! Dumpster is so dang cute and all of Riley's spiders having their own mini personalities!

HOT, TWISTY & ADDICTIVE 🔥
First of all, Web of Lies was worth every second of the wait. It’s hot & shmexy but what really got me was the plot. Avery Conner didn’t just deliver spice, she gave us a full on mind game. I was suspecting everyone in this book as the Butcher. Every. Single. One. I was tangled in the web just like the title promised.
But what sets this apart from my usual dark romance read is the dynamic between the leads. Normally in these kinds of books, the MMC is the villain while the FMC is the innocent, soft one. Not here. Nope. Both of them are criminals. Him, a hitman who will absolutely worship the ground she walks on & her, a hacker who plays deep in the criminal world. She’s not written as the “good girl,” she’s daring, confident & knows her worth. Yet, she still melts for him just as much as he melts for her. The balance was chef’s kiss.
All in all, this was such a fun read that kept me on edge and gave me all the swoons. The fact that both main characters are criminals just made it feel fresh and exciting.

Riley is a very talented hacker who finds herself in a position where lies come out as smooth as butter. Kyle hides his secrets behind jokes and sarcasm. The friends-with-benefit rules were clear: no feelings, no strings. But over time, Riley finds herself leaning into Kyle and he cannot seem to stay away. And then when Kyle finds out she is sticking her nose where is does not belong, he feels the overbearing need to protect her from everyone no matter the cost.
I really enjoyed this book. The heat and passion between these two was STEAMY hot. I love how both had their own lies and secrets and still found a way to come together. Check your TW though, some of these themes aren't for everyone.

Para ser un libro de una longitud media, tarde una banda en leerlo. Si bien es su mayoria ligero, tiene algunas partes repetitivas o pesadas, que no aportaban a la trama.
Me gustó mucho la dinamica entrre Kyle y Riley, tenian una conexión que se sentía. Kyle la verdad fue un re personaje, muy hot. Riley fue bastante buena protagonista, no senti que me molestase su forma de actuar, era sensata. Y los personajes secundarios fueron necesarios y me cayeron muy bien.
El plot en sí estuvo bueno, pudo haber sido mejor porque quedó todo en las últimas 30 páginas y no senti que fluyera a lo último. Lo sentí apresurado y se pudo haber escrito mucho mejor. De no ser por ese final tan apresurado tendria 4 estrellas.

This was my very first book by Avery Conner, and what a discovery it turned out to be! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC after stumbling across her work on IG. She had a sign-up form for early readers, I filled it out, and here we go—I dived headfirst into Web of Lies.
From the start, I was hooked. The passion between Riley and Kyle is nothing short of explosive—steamy, raw, and intense. I loved how both of them carried their own lies and secrets, yet somehow found a way to collide in the most consuming way. Kyle, with his ability to flip from charming joker to dangerously possessive protector, was magnetic. Riley, on the other hand, is such a fascinating mix—sweet and lovely but also a total badass hacker. She’s smart, confident, and just as obsessed with Kyle as he is with her. Their chemistry leaps off the page and keeps the tension high from beginning to end.
What really stood out was that I didn’t see the ending or the plot twists coming. The suspense kept me guessing, and I had so much fun being pulled deeper into their dangerous world. Riley had me smiling one moment with her stubborn wit, and then holding my breath the next as she outmaneuvered the dangers surrounding her. Kyle was another level—funny one moment, dark and protective the next, and completely unhinged in his devotion to Riley.
⚠️ Definitely check the trigger warnings before you dive in, because this one is packed with dark themes that may not be for everyone. But if you’re into romantic suspense with heat that practically scorches the page, this book delivers.
Overall: An addictive, steamy dark romance full of secrets, obsession, and unexpected twists. A fantastic introduction to Avery Conner’s work—I’ll definitely be looking out for more!

Avery Connor is officially on my list of "they write it, I read it" .. and I havent even read two of them, but i just love her style of writing so much!
This one was so enjoyable!
Right from the beginning, I loved the FMC. Riley is smart and resourceful, which constantly comes in handy, and not only as the amazing hacker she is. She has good instincts and has learned to trust them, and her commitment is admirable. I really couldn't get enough of her, everything about her was likeable as hell.
Kyle wasn't so clear cut for me, and i wasn't as immediately impressed by him like I was Riley. Although he's quite the charmer, I actually had my suspicions about him and it took the first bit of the book to win me over. Ultimately, it was his protectiveness and obsession of Riley that did it for me. It was hard not to like him after I could understand him better ... but he was also the biggest wildcard to me, so I was always waiting for something to occur with him, and he never let me down! I really liked Kyle by the end, erratic and twisted but with a good heart.
I do recommend reading Avery Connor's debut duet, Set of White Wings first cause you'll have a few unanswered history questions that are referenced, and not to mention the full love story of Evelyn and Noah. And that one is garentee to blow you away!
Thank you Avery Connor for this ARC, it was an amazing read and i look forward to more of your writings!

This is my first book from this author and omgggg I absolutely loved it and have to read her others.
Riley and Kyle are everything I freaking love them real bad! They will would anything and everything for each other. It was supposed to be casual but it became so much more and The chemistry between them was so amazing
Riley has been hired to find the butcher killer, she’s an amazing hacker and she’s in love with Kyle for quite some time
This book has all type of things going on it was so chaotic, but in the best way I couldn’t get enough I was going through so many emotions. It has it all lies and manipulation
Kyle loves Riley so much and will do anything for her. I freaking love Kyle and he’s definitely going on my book boyfriend list cause WHY NOT!?

This is my first book from this author and omgggg I absolutely loved it and have to read her others.
Riley and Kyle are everything I freaking love them real bad! They will would anything and everything for each other. It was supposed to be casual but it became so much more and The chemistry between them was so amazing
Riley has been hired to find the butcher killer, she’s an amazing hacker and she’s in love with Kyle for quite some time
This book has all type of things going on it was so chaotic, but in the best way I couldn’t get enough I was going through so many emotions. It has it all lies and manipulation
Kyle loves Riley so much and will do anything for her. I freaking love Kyle and he’s definitely going on my book boyfriend list cause WHY NOT!?

This book truly left me speechless is the best way! I wasn’t sure how Kyle’s book was going to go but I never thought this would be it! truly Obsessed! Shocked and many wtf moments! Avery is such an amazing author and I will forever read every single book she’ll ever write!
I loved the Spicy Spicy scenes and ugh Kyle’s is my favorite book boyfriend and Riley is amazing! I love that she found her family through Hunt Corp and. Friendship. With Evelyn! I died of happiness when they were in this book because I love Noah and Evelyn so much!
Kyle is crazy in all the best ways and loyal at all cost. His growth in this book and how he takes care of Riley and supports her in all she does
There are so many lies in this book and it’ll keep you hooked and on the edge of your seat!

Absolutely love that the mmc is Noah's brother from the White Wings of Desire Duet
My God, I feel like I need to read this one again my head is still spinning. Seriously. You need to pay attention. Cause what the f?! I thought I had it, then I didn't, then my jaw hit the floor.
Here are my notes, the spice hits early, no need to wait till the halfway mark for our Riley's and Noah to find some heat. Did I have to re read to make sure I didnt hallucinate parts of the story? Yep. (You'll understand why when you read for yourself!) Did I love it? Yep.
It was so easy to fall head over heels in love with Riley and Kyle. He's an unhinged, obsessed, ADHD contract unaliver and she's a Hacker with several pet spiders! Uh, they're so perfect together

Riley chose the latter, except she didn’t reckon on falling in love but could she call it that? Given their relationship was built on secrets and lies, would it survive if the truth came out?

another amazing book by Avery 👏🏼
I have waited and waited for Kyle's story and he did not disappoint. We got all of Kyle's personality, the funny side, the charming side, the dark and scary and of course the obsessed and spicy side. Kyle was so head over heels for his girl, and the way he gets SO possessive of her had me beyond giddy!
Riley, she's so sweet and lovely. Total bad ass herself in her own ways. She's smart, confident and also a little obsessed with Kyle. The connection she has with him is just amazing. Riley is on the hunt for the butcher and is doing nothing to stop herself from finding him, including bringing Kyle in on her lies and secrets.
I loved the connections we get from this book with other characters. It was such an intertwined web and played out so great!

4 ⭐️ so good, so hot, & addictive! really loved riley & kyle, friends with benefits to lovers was done so perfectly! riley is a hacker for the criminal world & kyle is hitman. both have so many secrets they are keeping and what will happen when all those secrets come to light… i loved how i was literally second guessing who the butcher was every other chapter, the author did a really good job at creating a literal web of lies. the spice was SPICY from chap 1 and i was eating it up !!! kyle had me blushing every time he spoke ☺️🤭 loved how safe riley felt with kyle and was able to be vulnerable as well as so confident & herself. kyle is literally the sweetest guy ever, i loved him so much, he melt for her and will worship her/give her the world. a really good read and i had a fun time.

I had so much fun with this book, it really kept me hooked. Riley was a total mix of smart hacker and sweet girl, she made trouble but also made me smile so much. Kyle was another level, funny one moment, dark and protective the next, and the way he got possessive over her was crazy intense. Their chemistry was eletric. The story had suspense, danger, twists, and a bit of humor. Honestly I didn’t want to put it down until the end. Definitely 5 stars from me. Thank you so much to the author for giving me the opportunity to read the book in advance, I received this for free and I'm leaving an honest review.

Riley one of the best hackers around. She gets hired by some underground crime ring to find the butcher killer. She is secretly in love with Kyle but keeps her emotions in check. They are just supposed to be a casual thing. The lies start unraveling.

I am a huge fan of a dark romance that ties in the vibes of a thriller. Avery knows how to keep you on edge resisting the urge to flip ahead to see if you nailed all the signs for your big "I FUCKING KNEW IT" moment.
I was really into the backstory of the FMC. I adore a strong female character that embodies resilience. Our girl Riley is a bad ass stopping at nothing.
Our MMC Kyle is a classic, swoon-worthy book BF. Passionate, obsessed, and ready to bring ALL your deviant fantasies to life.

They're tangled with one another before even realizing they're an item! Amazing idea on how this was built, good amount of "drama", packed with detailed actions and handful of challenges - both working with underground organizations, keeping each other away with bits of information about themselves until the circumstances forced them too. I enjoy that thier fierce, spicy romance are balanced without losing the touch of the main plot and what's happening on the background. Couldnt put it down! Grateful for the ARC opportunity.

I’ve been waiting for Kyle’s story and it did NOT disappoint!! This man 🥵 his smartass mouth and the way he’s so possessive of Riley!! The chemistry between the two and their banter was 🔥
I was hooked from the very beginning! It was suspenseful and had just the right amount of tension and spice. It’s full of secrets and lies and the twists!! One had my jaw on the floor, I was NOT expecting it!! 😧

expected dark friends to lovers stalker romance ended up soft and corny. honestly? this book was so underwhelming. the blurb promised danger, secrets, and morally grey chaos but what I got was a cringe romance! their chemistry? mid. the dialogues were straight-up cringe, like wattpad 2014 levels of cheesy.
not terrible, just… bland. the writing wasn’t bad, but it had zero bite no grit, no thrill, no tension. if you’re looking for something truly dark or emotional, this ain’t it.

Although I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, I felt like there should have been a book about Evelyn and Noah first so this one would make a bit more sense. Their relationship was so dark and mysterious, and so many nuggets were dropped about them, that it left me with so many questions that it pulled my attention away from the main characters a bit. I’m also hoping that there’s a third book to discuss Matthew and Kimberly before they had kids and their young love. I can see this book leading to so much more!

I wouldn't say Kyle is a hitman. After that scene in the restaurant, I should've just started skimming the book to end it asap.

This story was on the go from the beginning
Always something happening. They come from different worlds but hey in the end it works. You never thought this would be our couple. That we would need this to happen. Nor that we would have the family we always needed
