Janka Kupala (July 7 [O.S. June 25] 1882 - June 28, 1942) - was the pen name of Ivan Daminikavich Lutsevich who is considered one of the greatest Belarusian language writers of the 20th century. He is one of the very few writers to produce formal theatrical works in the language, which was considered by some to be inappropriate for such a formal genre. This volume contains two of his best known plays - Scattered Nest and The Locals.
"Scattered Nest" is my favourite book, I don't know what else to say. I don't see it being interesting for a non-belarusian tho, as it tells about the state of a belarusian village/Belarus at the corresponding time period in a very abstract and symbolic way.
