A Joust of Knights

Rate this book
In A JOUST OF KNIGHTS, Thorgrin and his brothers follow Guwayne s trail at sea, pursuing him to the Isle of Light. But as they reach the ravaged isle and the dying Ragon, all may be just too late.

Darius finds himself brought to the Empire capital, and to the greatest arena of them all. He is trained by a mysterious man who is determined to forge him into a warrior, and to help him survive the impossible. But the capital arena is unlike anything Darius has seen, and its formidable foes may be too intense for even he to conquer.

Gwendolyn is pulled into the heart of the family dynamics of the royal court of the Ridge, as the King and Queen beg her for a favor. On a quest to unearth secrets that can change the very future of the Ridge and save Thorgrin and Guwayne, Gwen is shocked by what she discovers as she digs too deep.

Erec and Alistair s bonds deepen as they sail further upriver, into the heart of the Empire, determined to find Volusia and save Gwendolyn while Godfrey and his crew wreak havoc within Volusia, determined to avenge their friends. And Volusia herself learns what it means to rule the Empire, as she finds her precarious capital embattled from all sides.

I have no idea why I keep wasting my time on this series. The first handful were entertaining and I'm interested in what happens to the characters but I'm so sick of hearing this character felt defeat for the first time, for the first time he faced certain death. It's never the first time, it happens every chapter.
There are so many illogical holes in the stories as well. Like a character riding a dragon that can travel the1000 of miles in an hour that would take months on a ship, yet when he gets where he is going and needs help his friends , on the boat, are all of the sudden there already. Completely unbelievable and poorly planned and edited.

So... is Thor still hunting down the demons escaped from the land of the dead? Is he fulfilling any of his foretold quests? Does this book even have a plot any more? Who even knows. What I do know is that, if I had a dollar for every time a character realized with certainty that they were drawing their last breath, I would be able to hire Morgan Rice a really nice editor.

There is 1 book left in this series and I'm getting the feeling it will just end of a cliffhanger with no closure. The characters are all still separated, some main ones apparently just died and everyone is still in grave peril and fighting for their lives. I'm ready to be done with this series. It's just annoying at this point. It's gone on far too long and it's so repetitive.

Gahhhh, the same storyline just retold in another manner pretty much sums this book up

Still so many grammatical errors all thru the book.

I feel like this series has drug on and on with no real concept of time explained at all

As the story continues I know that the end is near and that encourages me to continue. I think they have covered almost every trial that could be feasibly imagined. I am truly ready for the book to end, but kudos to Ms. Rice for endeavoring to bring it to a conclusion soon. Enjoyable series, If you want to read something that will last a while and is fairly good, then try this series. It is pure fantasy from the first word.

And yet another great book in bus series. Kind of hate to see it all in the last book.

This series is so redundant. Every few chapters Thor looks to his Legion brothers and realizes they are true brothers. He has been having this realization for 16 books, you would think he would know that by now. Oh, and every army they face is a professional army. And they all assess that with their professional warrior's eye. I wish this series was this horrible from the jump so that I wouldn't have had to listen to the entire thing, because spite and rage are the only things keeping me going at this point. Thankfully, there is only one book left in this horrible series. I hate this book. I hate this series. I can't wait for it to be over and to never read another Morgan Rice book again.

Book #16 is full of action and great imagination but I wonder where it will end. Characters are gradually being killed off, which is disappointing in some ways (what was the point of them?).

I have the bundle #16 /17 and just wanted to post a review for #16, which, although enjoyable, is rather depressing, too - no hope left.

Who knows where it will end...all dead?

I do like the story as a whole and want to have a satisfactory conclusion, and I love its imaginative scenarios, but it is in serious need of editing and proofreading. There are too many parts - money making - where several of the books could have been spliced.

Great fantasy despite the problems.

I am nearing the end of this series and I wish to see how it ends. To many characters for me to keep track of. Seems like the last 2 or 3 books have been the same things over and over. Glad there is only 1 more book.

In this episode Morgan continues this very entertaining saga. Thor continues his search for Guwayne going with his brothers in arm into the Land of Blood. Darius has to fight for survival at the Empire's capital arena, for entertainment of the empire population of the city. Now he is trained by a mysterious man. Gwendolyn receives a special request from the king of the Ridge. Argon regains conscience. Erec and Alistar struggle to escape the Empire fleet and they go towards the city of Volusia. Godfrey, as usual, is in trouble, but now he learns to live by honor. And Volusia is in the capital of the Empire, defying everyone in a trial to become the Supreme Empress of the Empire. Packed with action, this book will keep you entertained for hours. And there is not an idle moment until you turn the last page! Get ready for another very entertaining episode of this incredible story. You will not get tired of following Thor, Gwendolyn and all our heroes in this new episode.
Just be aware that in order to savor every moment of this episode, I recommend that you start reading from the first episode to better understand the dynamics among the characters, as well as have a full idea on the environment of the story.

I tried so hard to finish this series but it went from ok to bad to worse to the point that I couldn't even make myself finish this book. I have checked it out 3 different times and read four other books instead... I want something to happen- for a wedding to actually take place, for one of the many conflicts going to actually be resolved, something, anything... but nothing new ever happens. Her geography has no connection from one place to another. Her characters encounter the exact same problems, have the same battles, and are described in exactly the same phrases over, and over, and over again. The number and severity of "typos" and grammatical errors went from funny to annoying to absurd. I just can't read this anymore. I wish I could; but with one and a half books left to go, I am giving up. I will say this for her, she does a good job of creating characters that I can connect to. I WANT to know what happens to them; I WANT to see the succeed. I just can't stand to read another word. Sorry.

Great Penultimate Entry

In the penultimate entry of author Morgan Rice's epic fantasy saga The Sorcerer's Ring, Thor travels back to the Isle of Light, confident his missing son Guwayne is there, only to face new enemies from a place called the Land of Blood. Meanwhile, Gwen senses danger while in the court of the Ridge in the Second Ring, with some revelations about her relations there. Kendrick and the remaining Silver continue to traverse the Great Waste, and Erec and Alistair sail along a river into the heart of the Empire. Volusia continues to consolidate her power as a Goddess, Godfrey and his companions wander the streets of the city that named her, and Darius continues to fight as a gladiator for the Empire's amusement. A twist at the end rounds out this engaging read well, though it still shares some of the flaws of its precursors such as the lack of an actual name for the Empire.

Stress never ending

This adventure seems to have no end to trials and tribulations of the characters involved. As much as you want the story to have a happy ending you don't want it to end. What a conflict of emotions, at the end of this episode I sit in total turmoil over the turn of events. I eagerly await for book 17 in hope that Thoragrin has not in uncontrolled madness killed his best friend. Morgan Rice and her Sorcerers Ring keeps me on the verge of breathless suspense.

This fantasy series is excellent for young adults. The spelling and grammatical errors are very abundant but the story line is excellent. It's about a young boy who grows up to be the best warrior and druid of all time. He goes on adventures and suffers many trials and tribulations along the way. Old fashioned that I am, the author stresses honor and valor, which is my favorite parts of the book!

Thorgrin wanted to get his son back after his baby son being lost at sea, But after Thorgrin finally found his son's location the island that he was on gets destroyed. So Thorgrin is forced to go to the land of blood where the evil creatures took his son, then Thorgrin goes to the land of blood and fights to the death just for his son.

The three themes are: Determination, unwilling, Risking.
