James Earl Hamilton had that gift that separates the smart kids from the rest of society. After a difficult experience in high school, Jim finds acceptance in college only to find that he is again an anomaly in his professional life. A lucky investment in a new currency called Bitcoin makes Jim more money than he ever dreamed, but he swears off all social relationships after a bad experience with a girlfriend. With his newfound wealth and staying grounded as a farm boy at heart, Jim embarks on his own journey moving to a remote location where he constructs his dream home and embraces the off-grid prepper lifestyle. After creating Acme Engineering, Jim manages to find his place in life along with an unexpected love. His carefully selected crew of intellects is suddenly thrust into a time critical mission to counter a reprehensible plan set in motion against the United States.
No,redeeming qualities as far as a I got. There is nothing in this world that goes from a $500 investment to billons in one persons lifetime, much less a few years. The rest is rehashed baloney from everything else in this genre. Don’t waste your time.
I've learned to include Ross Carson in my personal short list of Authors of Excellence. This book as well as every other book by him that I've read demonstrates the highest standards of plot line and character potrayal, along with excellent editing and presentation. This is an excellent read.
A really good story. Very original story line. Felt real from beginning to end without being depressing. Very enjoyable and probably the best story he has written so far.
It was a good book for anyone who was a nerd or a geek. The story was plausible for someone who had unlimited funds. I wish I had invested in Bitcoin way back then.
Great plot that kept you guessing with well rounded characters. Every word kept you reading as fast as possible! The story of a nerd engineer that builds a community that functions extremely well. A joy to read!
Extremely well done. Enjoyed this story from the first page to the last. Was a nerds dream come true and a peeper’s vindication. Look forward to reading more stories like this. Keep the faith!
I like the premise of a Bitcoin billionaire that was a doomsday prepper who actually got to use that knowledge. This was a good mix of post-apocalyptic with world building on a local scale.
I didn't expect a lot out of this book, but I was happily surprised. It started off and kind of a bland sort of way, but I sure did pick up speed. Nobody died or got injured, will accept for all the bad guys. I recommend it.
Geeks to the rescue! An over achiever engineer programmer strikes it rich and sets up a think tank for others of his kind. Then the Chinese try to while out the US with astroids. Good read.
A good novel, without the depressing apocalypse trope. Action and a bit of romance with just the right amount of everything! I’m looking forward to seeing what else this author has written!
This is another good book by this author. He writes characters you can care about, and this time in an exciting situation. I do wish he'd write longer books, because I'd love to keep reading about this group.
I read the book, but I kept rolling my eyes. Very simplistic. Not my cup of tea. However, my husband enjoyed it. There's something out there for everyone.
Not what I was expecting when I bought it... But still a great read. I'll be reading more of his books... But for now I want to get back to actual sci-fi. 🙂
I really like these books. I've read all of his books, but this is the best yet. A really good storyline and quirky characters. In this book, he does not rave about liberals (who, by the way, are not that bad; they have some good ideas and some bad ones. Same with the conservatives). I sincerely hope he writes more like this.
