This book pays tribute to a very special place - Capitol Reef. Every page has at least on beautiful color photograph and six poignant essays express a deep, but unpretentious appreciation of Capitol Reef.
This is a glorious book, packed with beautiful photos and prose about a national park I’ve only barely begun to discover. It definitely makes me want to go back to experience more of its wonders.
I lovely look at Capitol Reef Nation Park through exceptional photography and insightful narrative of the geology, history, nature, personal experience and perspective.
The essays have a unique narrative, such as the cottonwoods dressed in their October best, and evenly detail between personal hiking experience, history, and natural history. Photos are excellent and diverse as opposed to many tourist books that rely on only the most iconic images.
I liked all the images of the different parts of Capital Reef. She goes into detail about places that I might not have visited, but now I am curious about. Written as a journal style book. She describes one of her visits to Capital Reef. Read this while I was on a trip there- a fun way to get more excited about the trip!
