Ein weiterer Band der neuen Cosy Crime Serie von Harper Lin - inklusive Rezepte für französische Köstlichkeiten.
Once again she uses her winning combination of the beautiful Paris setting, sinfully, decadent pastries, a murder, with just the right amount of romance and jealousy thrown in. The book are quick reads that can give you just the breakYou need from those serious, thought-provoking books that fill our shelves. Not enough of a break, try out one of her included recipes , and enjoy it while you read her next book.
Clemence and Arthur are out walking their dogs when they come across a man in the bushes. He appears to be dead and next to his body is the last remnant of a pistachio eclair and the lavender bag that is a signature of the Damour Patisserie. When they arrest one of the patisserie employees Clemence decides to get involved to find out who really poisoned the man in the bushes.
This is an pretty good series. Not sure if I want to read another one though.
I don't typically expect earth-shattering reads from cozy mysteries, and this one was generally true to type. A bit like an eclair, really; light, not very filling, and pretty easy to digest. I do get annoyed sometimes when the main character in a cozy keeps things from the authorities while she plays detective, but I also know that there usually wouldn't be a whole lot to the story if that didn't happen. If cozies are your thing, and you're into France or patisseries or recipes, this might be right up your alley.
As with the first in the series, set in France, this cozy mystery was short and quick. Clémence Damour finds another body, and she's on the case, as one of her parents' employees is a suspect. Style of writing was almost as though Lin was trying to write from an ESL perspective...using nice twice in one sentence ("It felt nice in a way to be on a nice date" loc 835) and various simple errors (lose/loose, too/to/two). Just needs some editing, unless that's the direction Lin was trying to go, getting the reader in the head of the character. Didn't work for me.
Being the daughter of a French patisserie dynasty is not easy for Clemence Damour. While out walking her dog she comes across a dead man who has been eating pistachio eclair's from her families shop. She is now on the radar of Inspector Cyril St Clair, who is not a fan of Clemence. How did the man die who did it? The Inspector and Clemence are now on the case, who will get their answers first. This is a nice cozy mystery. Give it a read
Another great one in the series. This book focuses more on Clemence's feelings, mostly her confusion about her love-life, and less on the investigation. The ending was a bit naive and the whole thing was solved too easily, but it is a cozy mystery, so I didn't have great expectations. Overall, really cute and fun!
Cute, short mystery. Very little continuous story development, but characters are still charming with more stories to share. Nothing spectacular, but enjoyable.
This was a great cozy mystery with a strong female character. I enjoyed the character development since the first book in the series, especially with Arthur. Can't wait to read the next one!
While I liked this book better than the first in the series, it was disappointing because who I suspected in the beginning turn out to be the culprit. Still a nice short read.
Less then a month from coming back from her world trip clémence has discovered yet another dead body. When officers find the wrapping marked with her family’s patisserie logo on it, she must clear the name of one of her employees who the officers declare is the killer. Three star rating because I found two errors. 1. In book one Author’s father had an affair with the maid named Lara. In book two the author has named her Lana. 2. Clémence talks about a young boy. Which she says, “ he looks to be around the age of ten.” But later on in the book she talks about him again but says “he doesn’t look no more then eleven.”
This was the second installment of the Patisserie Mysteries, and I enjoyed it. I like the characters, and the story was a nice read. I like when the main character takes walks in Paris and describes the sights.
This book was good. I enjoyed it. It was better than the first one. The character development is getting better. The depth of the story is also getting better, but could be more. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
